Finally after 4 months, Yumbl undied
C:S2, good enough to raise the dead? 🤔
@@YUMBL Yes is surly is
When he said “I’ve waited for this moment for a long time” and I immediately thought “4 months is kind of a long time” lmao
@@YUMBLso good to see you back! We missed you!
I thought I just thought UA-cam's algorithm put Yumbl out of my suggestions but he just hasn't posted on UA-cam for a long time.
I'm embarrassingly excited about paths creating crosswalks
You are not the only one.
Two things I'm glad to see...
- Distinct rowhousing as a separate zoning as you mentioned. No more organizing themes based on the mere 2 zones we got in C:S1 (and we haven't even got to mixed housing yet! I really wonder how that'll blend in with rowhousing as it seems to aesthetically fit in as medium density commercial)
- The suitability mechanic will actually guide a story of your city rather than it being on the player to come up with a narrative to help expand their city.
I'm glad to see YUMBL uploading again!
Colossal Order is a finnish company and a fun fact about those small roundabouts and the ability to put them anywhere you want is that, here in Finland, they are literally everywhere in the cities.
No roundabouts are not everywhere in the cities.
Helsinki only have 114, Tampere 33, Turku 21, Oulu 67, Jyväskylä 55.
.. or maybe you live in Oulu?
I'm from the UK and we have tons of roundabouts so I'm glad to see them in the game!
Seriously loving the underlying growth mechanics they have implemented. It feels much more like how a real city would dynamically grow and shift. Commercial demand increasing and higher density residential driving low density residential further out, etc. That is a beautiful thing to see and will make the gameplay and look feel much more organic. Also love that they have incorporated the world all the mods were doing to get intersections to actually work and look good. Lane markings, arrows, roundabouts, etc. I'm not going to know what to do with myself, so much time freed up by not having to lane mark and prettify so many intersections. :D Really curious to see what mods hang around and what new ones are implemented.
Looks like we finally have (or will be getting) a city builder with the road flexibility of C:S1 and the sensible and realistic features that we (or the older gamers among us) knew from SimCity 4. Namely: area desirability overlays; medium density zones; power import/export; ... and probably more.
And there's even one feature which I haven't seen anywhere else: Sensibly sized power lines (unless you count the suburban power line asset for C:S1).
agreed, i see a healthy ratio/ scale between building and road too,
“If it’s good enough for chickens, it’s good enough for me.” Truer words have never been said lmfao Amazing - thanks for the video, Yumbl!
Yumbl is risen! I'm beyond thrilled with how much more in-depth the simulation is, the end of October can't come soon enough! 😁
18:18 yeah, the famous "15min cities" where you have everything (from groceries to basic education) within a certain radius so you can walk or go in a bicycle there. Not very popular in the US, but here in western Europe is very common in big-medium cities.
Edit: btw, thanks devs for not force me to use mods to have a decent experience
Let the new Era with CS:2 begins.
We look forward to hundreds of new videos from you over the next few years YUMBL
I like how CS:2 refers to both CSGO 2 and Cities Skylines 2, and people are excited for both releasing in the future
Yesterday Yumbl, I spent actual money on Skylines II. I can't wait to build and sprinkle some fresh Yumbl-Spice in my city. Thanks for this drop. All the best.
Between you and Two Dollars Twenty, I love your guy's cities the most! I feel like you two are the only few who captured the real feel and looks of a small American town. Others I've saw were a little experimental, but that could just be learning about the game in their process in CSII. Thank you for the great video!
Thanks a lot! Honored to be compared to the likes of 2.20 :)
After watching some of the other big CS UA-camrs' videos I totally agree and I've noticed an interesting thing that sets Yumbl's apart and that might develop further as a difference in how people approach CS2 compared to the original. So far, most people have been playing very similar to the original CS in the way that they build, but I think Yumbl's reactive playstyle here really sets this city apart.
Yumbl's city feels like a place where the history of the area is made by the changes and growths of the population. The not quite perfect grids leave the odd space here and there, the zoning becomes denser towards the river as more people move in and demand for denser housing is needed, which then creates a high demand area for businesses, and that then pushes people wanting lower density housing further out, causing the town to spread further out in the other direction. It all feels very organic.
Thank you :D
I believe $2.20 built the main city that was used in the trailer for quiet awhile.
You should watch City Planner Plays. His city is inspired by a real life city design, and he also does a ton of really interesting tutorializing.
I watched several of these half hour, first steps videos from a number of UA-camrs but yours has got to be the best- you were the only one who pointed out details that really tweaked my interest, like the optimal consumer zone and the chicken industry ro number a few. Bravo for a well done and detailed without being overwhelming video.
Glad I've found your channel. Stumbled upon it when I was searching for road help! Very helpful tips for players. Thanks!
I was literally thinking of Yumble and these videos this morning :) Happy to see the channel come back to life again!
Ahhhh, ive missed you yumbl, could watch hours and hours of you building stuff! Thanks for the video and really excited for this micro series!
I'm knitting a cardigan while watching your video and I almost dropped my work when I heard "Let's hit 'em with a hearse" LOL. For a moment I pictured the old (awesome) U-drive it missions from SimCity4 and pictured a chaotic deathcare mission....
With the dev diaries, I got back into cities skylines and been binge watching all your videos/tutorials. Happy to see a video about CS2!
At 1:55 when you just ignore the sideways truck and talk abt the shadows instead🤣
I'm so happy to see this!
This is going to be my feelgood series for the next weeks.
same!!
Can't wait to see more of your content when Cities Skylines 2 is fully released!
He's back!
Yay
I can't wait for you to make your Single Point Partial Cloverleaf Interchange in CS2. It has always been my go to interchange for my main cities.
Watching your videos feels like playing this game with a good friend. I'm so happy to sit down and watch this. I can't wait to see more of your amazing content and get me hyped for C:SL2
6:01 COOL! :) Groundwater pumping stations are an awesome addition! 9:10 - loving businesses actually noting they are open, and the whole leveling up concept :)
We are so excited that you’re back, we’re ready to watch this series all the way through!
So delighted to be able to actually watch some game play! I am looking forward to watching this series.
I think this might be the most walkable city I have seen amongst the early access UA-cam videos and certainly the only one that showed off that commercial viability filter. Great video boss.
"Hello, I'm Hudson from Skyline Chronicles, and your Cities: Skylines channel has become a delightful part of my city-building journey. Your cities are a testament to your dedication and imagination, and they truly stand out in the community. Your videos not only entertain but also educate, and I appreciate the valuable insights you share. Your passion for the game is evident, and I'm excited to witness the continued growth of your virtual metropolises."
You are actually the first one that plays it in a way I like, thanks!
how did I miss this video?! Looking forward to watching!
Glad to have you back yumbl
Honestly, this feels like an advanced version of Sim City 4 and I LOVE IT. This more a City Simulator than it is a City builder. 💞
If anything I'm pleased for CS2 bringing you back 😃
It's great to see you back. It's been a while since I've seen a video posted.
I can't wait for the next video to expand the city in CS2 and see where it heads.
I've watched nearly all the videos posted since Friday on the early access to CS2 and yours is one of the best.
It's interesting that traffic hasn't really been discussed much in any of the CS2 videos. Have you noticed changes in how traffic works or is that something cannot be discussed yet?
Thank you! I did briefly mention that traffic seems easier to manage in this one, though I havent made a very large city yet
i have to say out of all the cs ii videos today i enjoyed yours the most. cant wait for the next video. also great sense of humour might i add
I really appreciate it :)
Yumbl I just wanna say I love your videos dude, every time, a banger.
Nice, I was so excited to see some real gameplay in CS2. I loved your video
It's the YUMBLer! \o/ 🎉 Good to see/hear you!
The sun is shining, the coffee is hot and yumbl is playing CS2, couldnt ask for a better Saturday morning!
Great to see you back!
I think they mentioned that the map you chose, Sweeping Plains is based around somewhere here in New Zealand.
Thanks for starting in the main menu, I was very curious as to if the editor would be a part of the second game, I truly do enjoy building my own maps!
Trust me , CO (paradox) will never remove that (same for mods and assets, they encourage it).
It means an engaging (creative) community who will support the game. More options for pc players. (I am one of them)
I hope for console players they will also get access to mods and assets.
And being Dutch i want bicycles ASAP.
Also do you share your maps on steam ?
Great video. Thank you!
Well look who it is 👀 so excited for this game and to see where you take it!
edukatory! So glad to see a vid from you!
Hey YUMBL, very much enjoying each of the new content releases from ones like you, Biffa, FewC, $2.20 and Imperatur. One thing I note from a couple of their builds is that you can connect your city to outside power grid with the transformer early on, so if power goes out from your wind turbine, you can draw from outside grid and if excess power is made, you can export to gain more money. Not sure if this works 100% or can be implemented in every city in the same way (especially as I have not played ofc) but interesting mechanic. Can't wait to see more of this fabulous sequel to our fave CS1
Nvm you did that in the last minute of the video haha. Still a good idea maybe earlier on so less money spent on more wind turbines and upgrades. Sorry about the comment before full watch haha
I’m glad you’re back YUMBL
I love the commercial concentration mapping also. It makes it very easy to create a commercial zone that can be surrounded by medium density housing.
I am Dutch and about the shopping (supermarket, and some other shops) most of the times i go on my bike (getting it out of the shed) or walking is about 5 minutes. It is quicker and cheaper then going by car. City center is a 10 minute bike ride, and no parking costs and as a bonus i can take a beer on the terrace if i want to.
So you get it i want bikes in the game.
BTW love this video
25:49 Imagine a 2-in-1 elementary school and a cemetery, lol
Woah. I had a dream about cities skylines last night and what do I wake up to? The return of YUMBL!
amazing video, i am so jealous you got your hands on it early, i am dying to play this
My bro good to see you got a advance copy :)
The return of YUMBL - happy days! Looking forward to see more of your content now with CS2
For a moment i thought you didnt get a early copy of the game. And only now i saw this video on my subscriptions. Great video btw
I’m so incredibly happy with the improvements on this game already from version 1. The paths, the roundabouts, the game progression. I learned more from your video than any of the dev diaries. Thank you!!
Yip and i maintain its because they (the others) have been CO puppets regurgitating their verbiage, instead of giving us much needed independent comment and experiences.
I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and its around the corner....ready to dive back in to CS! Nice vid as always!
hi, i'm glad that you come back :)
/offtopic Congrats on you engagement bruv!
/ontopic I'm sooooo hyped for this game, 5 weeks is too long to waaaaait! Eagerly expecting your next video mate.
Thanks a lot! The series will continue asap :)
Good to have you back. 👍
Very good for what you delved into. However you didn't touch on detailing. For example trees start as saplings and take a long time to grow. For those that do detailing that will be tough.
Hey YUMBL, just wanted to say thanks for this 'raw' approach to the new game. While there is nothing wrong with preplaying the game before you produce a video, I appreciate your honest surprise at things. Look forward to more.
its nice of you to mention customer demand and some other new mechanics like that.. game looks fantastic!
Please keep the video's coming. Missed your playing and narrating style
Yesterday I started watching your channel, and i was wondering if you would come back, and now you are back, what a coincidence.
Absolutely stoked for this game after watching this video. It looks incredible, and I love the upgrades that you covered! It all makes perfect sense.
Yay! Yumbl!
Where have you been? Is everything ok?
I'm looking forward of you breaking this game 🙂
All good :)
Of all the people that got hands on with cs2 yours is the most interesting. Thanks for doing this.
This looks awesome!
Glad to see your back (:
Thank you for this, I e been watching the previews but they’ve not really got me excited for the game, they just aren’t landing with me. But watching you build wit such ease has peaked my interest. Especially that chicken farm. So off the back of this video I’m convinced I’ll be buying on day one.
If you have the money and want it, pre order it (some exclusive buildings and a map), don't know if a day before launch will work.
I for myself have a rule. If a game costs € 50 and i am sure i will play it more then 50 hours (And this game i will, all the maps and options, future assets ) it is worth it for me. An evening in the pub is more expensive.
I hope you're doing alright! Video is great as always. ❤
You and CityPlannerPlays could take over the world with those clear and soothing voices
A few seconds in and I love it those maps look like real earth terrain and landscapes
Very scared that this might turn into Kerbal Space Program 2. Hoping for the best, though.
It did
What does that mean?
@@YUMBL maybe referring to the poor framerates in trailers close to release which was also an issue with KSP 2
KSP2 had/has big performance issues when Early Access for that game released on February 24th of this year.
Oh. No, I’m using the same PC I ran the original game on. Didn’t run into any such issues.
I am so happy to see you play this game! Whoohooo . . . xD
Fun to watch, can’t wait until the next installment!
Thanks Giffy!
Howdie Yumbl this is Steven Whitehouse, from Allenstown, NH.
All 30 minutes are fully utilized. Well done!
Using all 30 was not hard from over an hour of video. It was not going over that was tough.
OMG, I have never heard anyone outside our family call it a doc-in-a-box. LOL.
One thing to note I hope for some colorblind options. The orange for the wind is not an ideal color, and the zoning colors could be an issue. Generally most things in games like this aren't to bad, but I always welcome options to change things like this.
I agree. Maybe even allowing to replace some colors at will. I think things will improve there to some degree, but zoning commercial is hard.
More! I already can't get enough 😅
Cant wait to get my hands on this next month!! I got 32 gbs of ram just to prepare for the madness
Finally!!! I was waiting for your take on cs2
Wow that progression point is quite interesting, adds more personality to each cities according to different players and playstyle.
Watched a few other peoples' videos but you're the first one I've seen show off those desirability overlays. That's really cool, I'm more interested in the game because of that. I just hope they'll add in a lot more detailing tools because right now that seems really lacking.
My guess is they will, but on some moment in time they have to make a choice we release now, otherwise you are always a game in development status. (They still will be , but that is after release)
You can plant trees with a brush, i want a line tool for trees and bushes.
On the other hand, in real life trees aren't also planted on the exact distance from each other, they also grow differently.
And don't be surprised if there are additional props on release day
No, welcome back to you 👍 😁👍
The Yorkshire Gold has been hitting the spot! Great recommendation :)
Carmel Indiana has a bunch of those dog bone interchanges.
With how good roundabouts look now, I can't wait to get into the asset editor and go nuts. Also, that dogbone IC looks so good! realistic and cost effective for a starter city. Tunnels still look a bit wonky like they did in CS1, that's how you know it's a true successor, gotta keep some of the jank. :D
"Like a good city planner I'm gonna wait until something goes wrong before addressing it." This totally reminded me of my youth😅
I can't wait for my copy. This looks really good so far. I still don't like how placing a building basically blanks out the entire rest of the map though.
Agreed. The visuals on the commercial desirability overlay are impossible to see currently.
My boy Yumbl!
Yes!!! Even Yumbl is envolved in this! Holy animal!
What actually still seems to be missing is "Mixed Zoning" like you see in every city outside the US. Shop on the ground floor, 2 floors of housing (or offices) above. I hope Colossal finds a way to put that in, it would make cities a lot more "real" for people outside of North America.
Oddly, I was just visiting Buffalo NY and the quantity of mixed use property downtown really stood out to me. So it does exist in the US, even if it’s rare.
@@tinear4 It is certainly present (NYC has quite a lot of it) and it seems its in older places in the US and tends to be the more densely populated areas.
And to build cities that take inspiration from Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin or asian places like Seoul, Tokyo etc... It'd be relly nice to have that. It would just allow for so much denser and less car focused cities.
There is mixed use zoning in game. The developer diary shows it, and I believe I’ll have it in the next vid :)
@@YUMBLThat is FANTASTIC news! I would have played it either way.... but this just makes me really excited about it! 😀(and your next video as well, of course)
YUMBL You have done yourself proud. i appreciate your approach (to C:S 2 game play) and the fact you're not regurgitating Colossal Order's (marketing) script like the others. I will however wait for v2+ and hopefully the modding community (who MADE C:S 1) will have started creating enhancing / simplifying content like mods and assets.
Same here. I really hope that currently CS2 is what CS1 was when it just came out and there wasn't such a large steam workshop community, because thus far they just simplified it and made it look like a mobile game.
I like that you can snap a road to just one side of another road
As soon as the roads video came out I was hoping for a Yumbl reaction
I've watched a billion of these early access videos now, and I think you're the first to showcase the suitability mechanic lol
Welcome back, Yumbl!
