before you connect roundabouts, you can place a cross in the middle of a roundabout, so you get 4 connected quarters, to prevent it from warping its shape. it will always stay a perfect circle that way.
That always works. And don't forget to remove those placeholder roads afterwards ofcourse. If it wasn't obvious already😉

and? you can have fencing lol and all kinds of natural deterrents like raspberry or juniper hedges, you can also have different kinds of parks like neighborhood level or City level so their location access size and uses would be different

when i'm in college, i used to live in Main City.
behind my rent share house are Highway + beside where i live are small kind of park or something like people who doing things in there like bring dog, bought some street food stall etc. lol
Cars slowing at the roundabout is because of how close your nodes are to each other. As you move the node, when the line turns red, it is too close to another. You can use the 4'arrow' symbol to square the junction off resetting it or look to delete the other node not part of your roundabout

@@WhatDarrenPlays you can also set it to a through road with traffic manager so cars don't stop.
And those cars almost stopping on the roundabout might is propably a node too close to each other. That same tool you used to make curves can also delete and add nodes, and make circles from funky roundabouts.

I think it would be more appropriate for that new arterial 4-lane road to come directly off the roundabout instead of making a new junction near the roundabout.
Your town is growing really nicely, i love it's kind of like teardrop shape. One thing I noticed: right now your roundabout at the highway exit is totally obsolete since you've built crossroads to the new village right next to it. So now cars first have to slow down on roundabout and then near the crossroads
Regarding terraforming: To use the level terrain tool (my favorite tool) you first have to right click on the ground - THEN, left click to paint. It will make everything you paint the same height as the point where you last right clicked.
Hi, love the video! Small tip when working with roundabouts: use those small dort roads for bracing, so you can connect roads and the roundabout will keep its shape. Just draw a cross straight across the roundabout
22:50 You were asking if the surface painter can be made to paint outside of it's pre-determined grid. Basically, the answer is no, that's just a limitation of the tool. What usually ends up happening is that people who are bothered by this end up installing some version of the mod "ploppable pavement" or "ploppable asphalt" and use decals instead for perfectly straight edges.
Surface painter is loved for it's convenience and ease of use, not for it's precision.

Isn't there some form of "ploppable concrete" from the last update or dlc? I don't know if that's a prop, decal or else though, I haven't found it in my game. Or is it hidden and need FindIt to find it?

One of the things I liked about your anno series that I’m excited for in cities/skylines is your attention to detail and design like what you did with the roundabout this episode.
You have done one of the bes things a youtuber could achieve. Whenever I see that you uploaded a video, i get all excited and really hyped to watch it because i just enjoy you and what you do so much that it makes ever 1h video of you a huge blessing. I always grab some food and something nice to drink and just enjoy your content to its fullest.
Sorry for the noob question Darren but did you tweak the graphical mod settings or just installed them? if you did tweak them, can you show a glimpse of it somehow in the next video. Love the reshade and lightning of your game and great video as usual!!👍👍

For surface painting, you can get ploppable pavement squares off the workshop to create straight lines. There is also one that comes with the airport DLC but you have to unlock it.
I love the pace of the videos. I thought it might be too slow but it’s actually relaxing and I enjoy the details and thought put into every decision. Great stuff man!
I always play games like these with unlimited money on because I didn't want to use my brain anymore. Perks of a sit-down office job where all you use is your brain - you're just a vegetable when you get home.

Where I live (Argentina) all cities are built like a grid, cul de sacs are basically non existent here. Great video!

This area of Swords is the Suburban part of the City :) I live in a similar area here in AZ USA and the roads and Cul-de-sacs look exactly like that. Looks so realistic.

Removing the crosswalk in node controller doesn't stop people from using them, its just graphical. You need to turn off crosswalks with TMPE.
Ill say it.. making that roundabout look good, and then not using it for that 4 lane main road going up was mildly frustrating 😅
Its mainly because I thought it would take another 15mins to get right - I will likely use it in future and I talk about it in the next one! But yeah, sorry for the trigger 😂

Cul de sacs are good! Much better then a grid for traffic management. (In real life residental at least😅).
This is one of those games that sit idle in my Steam account. I have played it on my laptop, but anything above tiny town cooks the hardware right into submission 😂 Soon, I'll have my new pc!
But it wasn't just my laptop being stressed. And this is where I'm going with this story: I envy your calm quite a bit.
I jump on every pop-up, complaint, hazard - trying to fix it in no time! While what we see here is spotting those bubbles, but not really prioritizing it.. But this city is doing great🎉 It's making good money, people can't wait to move in, it's slamming milestones and it is going to be beautiful
Why don't you connect the new main road to the roundabout, mate?
And I like your idea to connect the dead ends and other roads with pedestrian path, I think it would look nicer and good for traffic too.

You could put some little pockets of commercial in the housing areas.....like neighborhood markets, etc.
I believe that you placed down two fire station instead of a police department

the map creator placed those faint oil and ore areas to change the ground color. every resource changes the color of the ground above it

Regarding parking. I remember playing simcity 5 and having a stadium and then having your city be blocked for miles whens theres a game soon and seeing all the parking fill in
the Sims can only cross the street at crossing/ crosswalks, removing them take away from your Sims accessibility to everything. Otherwise they will have to take a long walk around on the sidewalk instead of cutting a cross on a crosswalk
Well its more like there are cross walks. They just are not marked with a pedestrian crossing.

I believe the cars are moving slow into the roundabout is because there are some nodes too close to one another leading into the roundabout.
And of course everybody else is on top of helping out 😄

Not sure, just check the description, those are the only mods I'm subbed to and I haven't had any crashes so far. Though I haven't built anything that big yet.

@@username3472 Yeah that's not going to cut it I'm afraid, because a game like this would crash my ''gaming" laptop within 20 minutes, which was... quickly converting.. about 1500 usd as well. And with BEAST I mean something containing a cooling system a bit more solid then a little fan on your CPU. You want it proper cooled, not just ventilated.

Not in some random small residential area. In cities, yeah. In minor towns even I'd say we don't have them in the UK and Ireland at least.

Please for tge love of god xonnext your roads. And also, commercial centers would be better (especially for land-value) instead of having them spread out all over.
I like having little cul de sacs personally - and yep, the idea is to have a commercial center in the middle of these two smaller villages.
And yet another fun play through to watch from Darren plays. It is getting hard to keep ahead 🥲
