On the corners in the estates that aren't being used as residential you should consider adding corner shops as corner shops are a big thing in the UK 😂
You get better customer service from the boss man rather than the Soulless supermarkets
Also here in Chile; there's always the neighborhood shop in each corner of a block.
@@reorosbizando5593just seems to be a global thing 😂
Episode 5 and Darren continues to gently push his water pollution issues down the proverbial road.
i watched a trailer break down of Skylin 2, it "LOOKS" like there is going to be combined zones like you were talking about...super excited for that
Surely it should be a Nature Reserve named "The Jorgensen Foundation Reserve". Maybe even with a nearby University being the Jorgensen Foundation itself.
I'm a silent viewer 👋 been watching anno and now this awesome letplay ! So relaxing and calming . Never played city skylines but I do have some suggestions that I would love to see you do
Recreating famous city layouts or even landmarks ( or even make your own) . Download props and really decorate some towns 🙂🙂 doesn't have to be a timelapse either .
I don't really care about the road layout much because I also don't drive 😅
Thank you keep the good contact going !
I've really enjoyed when you did the anno island time lapse but I do think it's kinda restricted because of the box grids . I really
Hope they will change how it works in the next game .
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I need to get some more props/decal mods I think
Not sure if you would want to do that, but you could increase the production speed if you created a truck only bypass that goes over the railroad and river from the farm to the factory
As a nod to Satisfactory, I'd suggest naming one of the suburbs Green Grasslands or Blue Crater. Maybe name the industrial area the Gold Coast.
i was waiting for this eagerly, these lets plays are so fun to watch. keep em coming😅
i know it may sound wierd. But why not put a small Firedepartment close to the farms? in case of fire? Maybe also put a smal farmers market there and some houses for the farmers who Live there, i feel that would make it more authentic with the fields.
Love your gameplay episodes Darren. I don’t even have a pc but I love watching your videos. They are amazing and u probably notice me from being addicted to satisfactory episodes haha. This is real good so I can watch them while waiting for satisfactory episodes. Please keep up the amazing work. Sadly it’s my only way to stay happy these days. “Yay it’s Darren’s gameplay” thanks Darren 💙
Love the episodes, cant get enough of them!
That fire truck is so small lmao
Yes!! Just what I was waiting for
Loving the series, keep it up!
Love it. Keep them coming 59:06
You need to drive your demands up “manually” when using the realistic mod. The reason there is no commercial demand is due to “land value”. While land value shouldn’t have anything to do with this, unfortunately CS1 dumps quite a few things in this bucket.
You need to go park crazy in your residential, commercial, AND industrial areas. By parks I mean the pre-made parks. You want to use the ones with the highest entertainment value. Be careful though, some parks create noise pollution. The ones with noise pollution toss in you commercial areas.
Plant tons of trees, use streets that are tree lined, Use paths with trees, anything that can raise land value/happiness will create lots of demand in that respective zone type.
Also, it is a very very good idea to create districts that have general industry in them with specific types of industries that go with the larger industry specialty you have. Meaning, if you have a farm industry, it’s a good idea to have a zoned general industrial area that has the farming specialty. That way the goods you make in you farm will be delivered to your industry area in your city. While exports are great, you make more money selling to you city. Plus it drives your demands up and allows your city to grow more. Additionally, it reduces the “has no goods” icon. If you are exporting everything then your city isn’t getting what it needs. Your “general” industries supplies goods to your “general” commercial. So you will still need some “general” industries but if you want to complete the supply chain then you will need to have “general” industrial areas that specialize in farming.
Love the series! I can't wait for you to get cities 2
Real driving means never respecting lanes
... and signs 😜
I love that you’re going for something different. I don’t wanna watch hyper efficiency all the time. I love your innocence lol. I mean that as a compliment. I’m not super old yet… but man.. keep enjoying it. Even if that means you put games down to pick up something else for a bit. People will stick around if you’re having fun. We are here for your antics and takes on the game(s)
Anyone asking if it’s safe to not have cross walks in residential areas… where do you live that has them?? Genuinely curious. Large metro area where it’s high density living rather than small? Cause that’s the only thing that makes sense….
Hi Darren, I live in the US and there used to be a lot of roundabouts in the state that I live in. They usually had the same number of lanes on the roundabout as the widest road going into them. I can see how adding an additional lane to the roundabout would make it more efficient in game but agree that hasn't been what I've observed IRL.
I mentioned that there used to be a lot here - most have been removed and replaced with traffic lights because of the number of accidents on the roundabouts, especially where a highways were being joined on a roundabout.
14:59 where you are setting up yield. You can automate this on a whole road. The same way you defined a roundabout as a road, you can set the start and end of your big 4 lane main road and then make it a priority road. That will automatically set up all the junctions so the main road gets clear use and side roads have to yield. I think you click on the road name to access it.
you can use fences to block the zoning on collector roads. that way the houses are only being built on the local roads.
when placing warehouses you can manually place them on the local road so trucks aren't loading on the arterial/collector coming off the roundabout
With roundabouts, there are a few different ways to mark them. You'll see driving instructors doing lessons on how to navigate each type. The ones that throw me are when the lane markings don't allow a vehicle to use both lanes of an exit from the inside of the roundabout. You have to be in the left lane, and when you exit you can pick your lane. That setup is a broken line between the roundabout lanes that continues through the exit point round the roundabout.
If you are able to exit from both lanes, that has a different marking. From memory, the broken lines stop through the exit, or they might show that the inside lane may connect to the inside lane of the exit. There'll be pictures of that marking somewhere.
Then there's the turbo, which is loads of fun, and larger cyclones often have traffic light controls as well. You most often see them timed to rush hour traffic on motorway exits.
Also, the hamburger, or cut-through roundabout, which also has a tram variant, that includes traffic light control for safety.
Lastly, there's Swindon and similar builds - the magic roundabout, which is a bloody nightmare if you've never been on one, but extremely efficient.
We can now include Dutch-style roundabouts, and somebody has done a tutorial of one of these in CS that looks pretty good. These are designed to separate cyclists from other traffic and highlight pedestrian crossings for additional safety, but the first in England suffered as drivers didn't know what to do.
Captain Ahvious had a tip for residential built between collector roads, that any road that goes through the residential from one collector to the other shouldn't be direct or it'll be used as a shortcut. Make it detour, perhaps back on itself for a bit, so the traffic AI sees the combination of being a slower road and longer path as less desirable. It helps keep traffic from saturating neighbourhoods unnecessarily.
The thing about the Industries DLC is you really need to unlock everything and work backwards to know what the balance is in your final builds, but when you overproduce raw materials or intermediates you can always sell the surplus. You just make less from them than specialised goods.
If you use recycling canters or something else that recycles to empty your landfill, the recycle plastic policy increases their efficiency a bit. Keep the policy on while the centers have garbage reserves to process, and then turn it off. No point having extra efficiency on a building that is coping anyway, but it does help buffer emptying the landfills without touching your budget slider.
There isn't a one tile road, but what you could do if you move that warehouse temporarily is move the road that's there back 1 or 2 squares. The buildings can tolerate being 1 or 2 squares away from the road, which gives you options to add fences and scrub. This is a vanilla detailing trick and I know you have Move It, but doing it the vanilla way sometimes just works out with better predicted behaviour. All the nodes will be properly spaced by redrawing the road. That'll give you the space for the side road you want to add.
Mail isn't useless. It has a happiness radius for upgrades. This is useful in commercial and industry where parks just don't seem appropriate. Banks do this in commercial areas as well if you speed the financial district stuff and get rid of anything you don't like when you've unlocked the banks you want.
A tip for PT when you do it. You can influence ridership in each district by applying policies. If a stop is underused, add a district for the residential area it's in and set the Free Public Transport policy. Conversely, if a stop is oversubscribed and you don't want to add extra vehicles, use the "higher "prices" policy on that district to make it less attractive.
If it is the slope that's destroying the trees, try two things: smooth out the slope, or 2 - add the mod that allows trees on steeper slopes.
I think Move It has a "reset building" option that might turn that building back. But it might just be for cosmetics and spawn points and stuff. I've never tried it.
Hi there! Node Controller Renewal Mod isn't listed in your descriptions. I was trying to set up my game exactly how yours is and I got angry at the game for not being able to control these nodes like you did, so I came back to continue watching your let's play - and you mentioned it right now that this mod is called Node Controller Renewal. Thanks :D Now I can do the same things. Just wanted to point this out - great series!
for placing stuff anywhere, just plop it somewhere the game lets you, and then use move it to place it where you actually want it
I do that, but then it deletes sometimes. Like if I put a path down, and then move it over a zoned area, the buildings in the zone delete
Cannot wait for fishing industry
When Anarchy is on (i.e. bird goes red) then you can plop buildings anywhere even on top of each other
I installed all the mods in your description and my game is missing a few menu options so might be n00b skylines modding knowledge, lack of DLC, or missing mods from the list :D
Not really sure what is affecting your commercial demands, it could probably the realistic population mod, or probably you need more industry that's producing goods to sell. Usually when there's more industry than commercial, the factories would complain that 'there's not enough buyer' that require you to zone more commercial to be the buyers of industry goods and then residential as the buyers of the commercial goods. At least that's what I know about the demand circle in this game.
Bro that intro should be paid for by Paradox etc it is the best intro to an episode and really showcases the game!
On the prop adding thing - I'd be down for a gameplay paused prop plopping episode tbh
Love it! ❤❤
It's not a good idea to put service buildings like police and fire on collector roads as the vehicles, when they exit the building, can only go 1 direction. So if they need to fight a fire on the other direction, they have to drive down until they reach an intersection where they can make a u-turn first. This reduces their ability to perform their function for the part of the town on the other side. It is better to put them on a street coming off of a collector so they can come out, and immediately go which ever direction they need to.
Bro legit just described and makes it how the world works, small areas of smart people with acces to everything and massive areas where school and such is no available lol
I made it too real huh 🤔
is it really necessary to build bypass from factory area to the bridge?
Im enjoying this more organic, relaxed approach, where you consider the landscape and natural growth of the town. Grids get boring imho.
Cities skylines 2 is confirmed to have combined zoning :)
31:03 where I live some people take the speed limit as a suggestion😅l😂
9:47 yes correct
i love how theres 0 logic in the building placements xD First he places a police station that has sirens right next to a school, Next up place the police station next to the library kek
My school was beside a police station and an army base… never really considered noise a factor when it came to schooling. Library though I guess
"I will put the image on the screen"
The screen:
Same here in the American star of Florida
I wonder if the non UK viewers get confused whenever Darren says estate 😂
Probably other native english speakers from outside the UK can be, but as an european we are, usually, used to learning british english rather than american, at least in schools, even if we might be heavily influenced by medias, by how people express themselves online and by other random factors (such as having australian or indian teachers with heavy accent while taking specific classes such as FCE or CAE, as it happened to me 😂).
Anyway, as a non-native speaker, at this point it's pretty normal to me that I have to keep in mind all the possible ways words are used in different countries and in different contexts, cause it's all pretty the same to us in terms of what is "normal" and what is not.
It's all equally weird, if that makes sense 😂
I think there should be something that seperate factory area and highway to the bridge (ie trees or guardrail)
I've actually just put a rail / fencing in now and some pathing to break it up. Should look better / more seperated in future.
@@WhatDarrenPlays nice to know that
ctrl+A toggles anarchy mod
Isnt that just for roads though?
The non grid and inefficient/let's see what happens layout is actually making me want to install the game again
Do it!
so has anyone else seen a two lane roundabout? i’m from us and ik they aren’t very common but a 2 lane roundabout seems dangerous and slows down traffic because of lane changes
Most roundabouts in the uk are two lane, bigger ones can be 3. Use google maps and take a look around south england if you’re curious
Hello 👋
Yoh Darren i wanted to ask u if u can build a skate park like an Amrican teen life theme (i want to live an American tèen life but i live in Africa*Botswana*)
Why not "Roundabout Crown"?
or Crown-dabout lol
@@Theschoolbusdriver That's better. That is better!
I ones played City skyline and there was a Street named cokstreet😂😂😂😂😂😂
