OK......13.03 indoors is truly badass. World-class badass. Good job, Graham.
Edit: and thanks for posting the whole race, FT.
These kids are getting to fast 🥵
Bowing to the crowd is the most Graham Blanks thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
Pretty cocky move. And disrespectful to his fellow competitors. But I guess we should expect that from a Harvard boy.
@@cy8685 man just broke the record, he's allowed to be cocky
@@cy8685bro wat? That was classy.
No one should be cocky. Ever. Especially in distance running. It’s impossible to stay on top and there’s always someone behind you ready to knock you off.
It was tacky.
Him & Valby are clearly in the form of their lives, both to get the outdoor 5K records as well?!
Considering their indoor times are both considerably faster than the outdoor records, good chance. Valby looks like low 14:40s shape outdoors in a pro style setup.
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547facts. and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he ends up clocking a sub 13 by the time outdoor is over with. both for sure have a high chance of getting a spot for the olympics next year
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 14:40? For a 5k? Or did you mean 12:40 because even 13:40 is slow, in the pro league I mean lol
@@467076hes talking about Parker Valby, whos a girl, so 14:40 is pretty fast 👍
then someone named nico young came along
You know it's a fast race when the video is only 13:13 long
The BU track, which already had a reputation for being super fast, was just resurfaced this year for the first time in 20 years. They used a state of the art surface that is marketed as increasing the speed of older tracks to world class speed standards. So chances are the BU track is even faster than it used to be, perhaps significantly so. Two college 5000m records falling in the same meet and the second fastest NCAA women's 3000m ever run definitely supports that conclusion.
Man I remember when Galen ran 13’00 indoors almost 10 years ago and we were going insane over it. The NCAA record is almost there 😅
Two big deltas since Galen 10 years back are superspikes and faster track surface, and BU new track is probably the fastest. But even with all that, hugely impressive.
In the early 70s the women’s world record in a mile was 4:30. Now they’re closing in on sub-4. When I was in high school, I was running as fast as Olympians had run 40 years earlier. It’s not that we have better athletes today - it’s that we have better equipment.
And drugs.@@cy8685
1:57 final 800m is nuts
This guy is something special - humble lad too. Respect.
😂 Taking a bow immediately after crossing the finish line is not “humble.” It’s actually pretty cocky - and somewhat disrespectful to his fellow competitors.
did you watch his cross country post race interview? If not, I'd recommend you do so..
also nothing wrong with bowing. Dude just put on a show.@@cy8685
@@cy8685looking too far into it, he’s just having fun. Dude is hella humble and chill in person
Great, strategic race by Blanks. That explosion in the last two laps was truly epic.
On the contrary, it was a very typical strategy.
Great performance, also great to see how humble Graham is!

It's not unusual for runners to strongly display acts of victory in a race. Perhaps you haven't seen many other elite high school, collegiate, or professional distance performances. @@cy8685
@@cy8685 🤡
@@cy8685bro is hating for no reason chill out
😂 Disagreeing with what he did isn’t “hating,“ snowflake.
This man was flying on that last lap. Flying.
This guy Blanks is something special!
Great race, good video coverage. Thanks for posting the full race.
What a humble and talented young lad
Damn man, absolutely flying!!!
Respect to those who gtfo the way
What a crazy time. I wish he would’ve kept running and not looked to turn around to see where they were. Probably could’ve shaved another half second off 🤣. But absolutely crazy performance
Smokin'...what if he started his last kick sooner... sub-13? At the end of this race I thought he 'looked' to have more in the tank with that 'bow' effort.
Agreed. Look at Valby's happy dance at the end too.
Adrenaline
Wow! Wow! Wow!! I just wish the video didn't end so abruptly
So cool to see a guy from Harvard do this.........or an Ivy League school in general...........congrats and keep it going!
Thank you for the upload .
Love to see it! He looks like he can go under 13 too.
No matter what happens in his career I hope he looks back on this moment. His xc wins were cool, but man is this one special.
Unfortunately this record only lasted 57 days, as Nico Young at NAU just crushed it by six seconds.
More bowing to the crowd should happen goi g forward.
NO bowing should take place while your fellow competitors are still racing. Save it for the award ceremony.
What a stud!!!
Graham Blanks for president
alex mair went to my school Flower Mound HS. he’s got all the long distance school records
About time!
Bout time!
Dis brotha knows what the fuck is up
DAMN!!!
Nice race
Didn’t last long. College distance stars are killing it right now.
190 A.D. Record
Harvard ahh celebration
Camera person, how could you not stay on the leader when he takes off at the bell?
Can’t help but wonder what direction he’ll go in after graduation. Money in a professional running career might not actually be their.
Only 1 whole day later! When everyone has seen this on IG 30 times alr
The camera guy should get a tripod to put the camera on.
awful commentary. no mention of the splits and how they translate. are they on pace? are they off? are they close? are they going to make it?
just repeating a list of names we can all see anyway. commentator - for future ref oly splits are 2.37, 5.14, 7.51, 10.28, 13.05. you're welcome
do not hate on Phil Grove i could listen to him commentate all day- the reason they didn’t give splits about on or off is because going in this wasn’t supposed to be a “National Record Attempt,” more just a fast race attempt. hard to try and prepare splits on the spot when you don’t have the NR splits up in front of you
@@josmurphy the splits i just listed are the olympic standard which blanks explicitly said he was chasing and it was going to be close.
i could just have easily listed 13 flat splits or told you how lap splits equate to k pace. the commentator was clearly unprepared and just talking about what was going on on a screen. pointless
These college races always have the worst commentators. I usually have to turn off the sound to enjoy the video because (like this guy) they’re always so annoying.
Wow. He must identify as black to run like that.
🤣😂
