He did a long kick, which is what someone without the pure sprint speed needs to do. It rips the hope out of a real sprinter. If he doesn't break them early, he's still vulnerable.
@@KW-wr3xv I'm an old man now and was never on that level, but in my day I was the sprinter. If I could hang with you, I had the 56 last lap, I had the 12 second last 100 that a distance runner just can't handle. A shark can smell the blood in the water.
It is so nice to see Nico winning two huge races this weekend. He has worked so hard for so long, and is truly just a good human and teammate. The crowd loves you Nico!!
@@scottbarker9058doesn’t make sense to use the imperial system when the rest of the world uses the metric system. The mile is the only exception because of its history.
Who goes to an all-out sprint with three laps to go? How does Nico have a drastic improvement in times from one year to the next? I'm calling for an immediate blood doping test on Nico Young.
He said something about improved mechanics and rate of force production in his post race interview although didn’t expand upon what specifically he’s done to improve upon these
1. Pretty much every guy in the field who was still awake with three laps to go started all out sprinting; Wolfe, Maier, Murphy, Robinson, all of them started to really pick it up. 2. As for the time drop, a lot of other guys in the NCAA saw drastic improvements this year. Nico improved 14 seconds from a PR he set nearly 2 years ago for the collegiate 5k record, which is by no means unreasonable especially for someone his age. In 1 year, Graham Blanks broke his 5k PR by 15 seconds, more than Nico did in two years. In addition to this, Nico has only ever truly ran the 3k at NCAA’s and Big Sky’s before, both of which would probably be tactical and after a 5k anyway. Think the things you say through fully before you come out making assumptions.
So glad to see Nico finally win some NCAA titles after the high expectations from high school.
Wow he’s really on another level. Super impressive

@torunit4620 exactly right it's exactly what Ingebrigtsen does. Its slowly getting faster instead of sprinting the last 200m

He’s really fit rn too he just didn’t have Nico’s tactics
You called it lol
He won the 5k, the 3k and the last mile of his 3k would have won the mile... Thats insane.
Mile was a tactical race. Comparing it doesn't make sense.
@@iba7648 I know. Still notable though.
Bringing home the hardware to where it belongs. Flagstaff. Way to go Nico.
Congrats Nico!!
Well deserved. A real BAMF.
Look out for Parker Wolfe!!
Well deserved Nico

Why did the first 400 m take only 67 seconds?
Yaseen rolled
Doesn’t even have a medal to throw away this time

Hall Steven Williams Matthew Robinson Brenda
1 day recovery 4 this..obscure distance?????..HILLARIOUS!!!!
why not ..2-miles more clout-only 4more laps????...lol
@@scottbarker9058 uh, 2 miles is just over one more lap. Do some math. And they haven't done miles in an NCAA Championship since 1975.
