She’s Absolutely killing the vocals. Wow
You think this is on the level of Joe cocker?
@@bofetada6841 can’t compare. They are both amazing.
there is no copying joe, but this is great too@@bofetada6841
Not
Loved it when the Box Tops did it. Loved it when Joe Cocker did it with Mad Dogs & Englishmen. And now, TTB nails it again. Three great performances.
Written By Wayne Carson released by the Box Tops 1967 then many others including a great version by Al Green 1969
I saw the Box Tops do that song live,, maybe late 60s?
Thank God for Susan Amen
Yes but Joe Cocker with the Mad Dogs and Englishmen version is still the best.
Things can Sing & Play a good as anyone!! Either category!!
Absolutely hands down, the best ever cover of this song. Just when you thought Joe Cocker brought the soul, enter Susan Tedeschi.
i guess you've never heard of Joe Cocker.
Exactly, the only version that matches Joe’s
Box tops original
Dear Lord. I’ve been listening to this band for three years now, own their last four albums AND JUST WAS FLOORED BY THIS PERFORMANCE. They never stop amazing me with their love of the music and vibe together as a band.
Ps - how is the audience not losing their mind?!? ... musta been a hot day. :/
@@mandascruggs2245it wasn't mind-blowing it was just ok
It's great to see a band use actual instruments - the horn section is inspirational.
Yeh. They really blow, what?
Tedeschi Trucks is an amazing band and Susan has some great pipes, she can really lay it down!
Oh yeah!
This is wonderful! There is more talent on that stage than most will ever see.
If you don't get this, you haven't got a clue. Bless every single one of them.
Folks if you have the opportunity to see TTB in concert don't think twice, buy your ticket and go. I saw them in Jacksonville Fl, A three hour drive from my home. It was worth every minute of travel time and worth every dime for admission. Susan is beautiful and her voice makes angles cry. Her hubby has a little talent on slide guitar. 👍 The entire band is just a wonder to hear and also to see. It is quite the party. GO SEE THIS BAND IN CONCERT! Your soul with thank you.
I holler at 'em every time I drive past their house! Another great Jacksonville band ...
Seen them twice and this July will make it three. Getting my my Allman Brothers fix
Amazing voice and one of the best guitar players alive
Story is they used to tour together but as separate bands, and saw the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour organized by Leon Russell and saw how much fun they were having playing with a big big band on stage. They got a horn section and backup singers and started touring as the TTB. I for one am glad they did this. Their sound is so much richer now and they're also able to play more music that requires a big band, rather than the 4 piece bands they used to have when they were separate bands.
This version of the Letter has such a Joe Cocker, Leon Russell feeling to it.
I wont say her voice is effortless, but she's getting back twice of what she puts in. Incredible soul, just the right amt of rasp 😍
By And Far The Best Band Playing Today. It's so awesome they continued to pay the salaries of their band and crew while sidelined by Covid. That says it all the best of best as people as well as musicians their kids are so lucky to have them for parents.
First time I saw TT band they played this song and I was hooked. Nobody does this old Alex Chilton and The Boxtops song anymore.
Joe Cocker did it in the 70's (maybe at Woodstock in '69, I can no longer recall.) TT nailed it live.
He did it on his mad dogs and Englishmen tour at the Fillmore East (on the live album) and at Woodstock
Man, these Leon Russell arrangements are still amazing,.
Damn girl you got a voice like no other. BossLady for real.🥰
I can find 5000 singers with the same exact voice and style.
Now THAT is Soul Music! Always loved this song, they do it fine justice! Thanks for the upload ❤️ 💖 💗 💞
TTB really is one awesome band. What a voice of Susan. Wow !
Hottest blues rock band around. Wonderful, thanks for the video.
This is the best touring band currently........Hands Down!
they comp each other respectfully
+boffintech The Allman Bros. had two drummers too
For a fuller sound. Plus it's cool when one plays a hair of a beat behind the other. The original Mad Dogs & Englishmen band actually had 3 drummers plus conga player.
& That Conga man is the great Bobbie Torres! Pride of our city, Portland.
I saw Bobby in the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" documentary. Wears an afro and sunglasses, right?
This song was No.1 with the Box tops in 1967, Coker only covered one. Nobody better to sing it than Alex Chilton
Coker and Al Roker, Matt Lauer sang betr than LX.
You spelled Susan Tedeschi wrong. She's the best to sing this, hands down
Where is this at that half of the crowd barely responded to that amazing performance, especially those vocalist..She absolutely owned that song !
This is an excellent performance of the Joe Cocker version. For a second I amused myself imagining Susan doing a brief imitation of John Belushi's body motions parody of Joe.
A cute little song by the Box Tops and Joe Cocker turned into a great & wonderful song. Great voice and superb instruments.
What a voice!! What a song ! Guys Love you!!
Gary Laubscher , this band can do it all for me, can not get enough of them & I am 67
I feel the same way !!! Peace brother !!!
gary laubscher Likewise, I’m 66.
Peter Myers love seen this group several times in concert ,, they are the real deal ,,, however lately I've been binge watching Samantha Fish on UA-cam ,, can't wait to see her live // Buddy Guy gives Samantha two thumbs up
Must, really múst, listen to at least one song of them every day ( 71 now !).
Wow, first time I've seen the video. Just great....Nothing like classic rock!!!
I just realized that there are two drummers! How cool is that!?
Even though it hurts to say, this is the best version of THE LETTER I have ever heard, sorry Joe RIP❤️
What about The Box Tops original?
One of the MOST exciting bands playing now in the 21st century
Although DT played for years with ABB, he said he had never seen Mad Dogs & Englishmen, the movie with Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, et al traveling around with loved ones and kids in a large ensemble. When he finally saw it, he determined that's how he wanted to do it with TTB. The results are simply astounding. You can feel the love!
Great!! an inspiration!!
To anyone who hasn’t seen this band live DO IT before you pass on to the other side😂😂✌️
meh
I had the opportunity 10 years ago and your statement is completely true.
Was trying in 2020 and the.............COVID!!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Amazing voice and an incredible band ....
Awesome. Love her voice and everything about the band.
This is just awesome, everyone is wicked talented. Especially the vocalist, she's amazing.
WOW!!!!! SHE IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ___AM___ STUNNED! It is as if they had gathered all the best pieces of all interpretations since the Box Tops came out with it together in this very one performance! Absolute perfection. And Susan's voice tops it all!
Chills. Her vocals simply give me chills. Soulful.
That woman can sing, .....
brooklynjack Amen brother!
Yes, she can :) :) :)
No lie
Killer voice! You can tell she's a professionally trained musician.
Her first solo Cd was OUTSTANDING!
No way to compare this band to others. They’re always on top every new song or cover. Come back to Italy soon!!!
He took the slide off and she put the funk on. Way on.
God I love this song....we miss you Joe Cocker... they represent you well...
It was the Boxtops did the original. Joe Cocker's version was a great cover too. I'm not sure if Joe Cocker ever did an original song.
@@neilmunro7961 like Guns N Rouses
For you kids out there in UA-cam land, these are called MUSICIANS...
I need to see them
thats why people don't listen to you.
don't talk down to them
Best comment on you tube....

Musical Artiste 🎼 🎵 🎶 🎹
my absolute favorite musicians of all time
THANK YOU TTB FOR YOUR AMAZING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.
Susan's voice goes straight to my soul
and Derek's guitar is the same
its medicine music
Still sounds great 👍🏽 and 👍🏽
This girl rocks! Both Susan and Derek are just great people. Met both at an ABB party at Beacon Hotel a number of years ago-they said "thanks so much for coming". So humble.
See what you get when you save your Boxtops... The Trucks legend continues.. Susan is the.white soul sister and Queen of the Blues.. thanks , can't get enough of there music🎸🎶🎼👍😎✝️🙏
I meant they're music.. sorry about that, my thumb was out running my brain... nothing new...😎😁
Fab-uh-lus!! Now that's GOOD rock and roll. And look at all those Super Reverbs ...
Notice how DT never overplays. Taste.
Always puts the music first.
imo Derek is a once in a generation player that is lost on the masses because of who he is (humble and quiet) and the kind of music of he plays. Their loss. Ive never seen a single performance of his that at some point doesnt give me a "holy shit" chicken skin moment. And like you said - he's always in service of the song or the jam, never just showboating - even though he could melt everyone's face at any moment
Notes are precious,don’t waste them.
100% agree, he's said many times that the entire band is set up to support Susan and blend with her incredible voice. Best band about
Awesome
amazing sound, especially for live ... still miss you kofi, love the band
That very good music I need to listen. Amazing group because they have a full soul go Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Goose bumps!
Insanely great vocals and there are no words to describe Derek's solo I thought he just played slide guitar. I was wrong.
TTB is a great band.
DTB was a better band.
Ozzypie Ozzypie Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Any band that Susan Tedeschi sings in is better. Trucks and Tedeschi in the same band--amazing. DTB was a great band, but I like the combined band better. Have a great day.
+Roseanne Salyer To each his or her own, but Derek is THE talent in the band and Susan and the size of the band reduces Derek's role unlike with the DTB. The music is very different as well, no offense to Susan but some of us who preferred the DTB miss it greatly and the TTB just doesn't fill the void.
Maybe that's the way he likes it. And to be clear, I haven't heard much of his music. A couple of songs and I don't even remember which ones. He came to my attention through watching ABB videos. I will have to give DTB a harder listen.
TTB was formed so Derek and Susan could be together on the road to raise their children and is pretty much a merger of what was their former bands. Their musical styles merged somewhat but more towards Susan's end because she's the vocalist. This eliminated Derek's jazz improvisations almost completely and reduced his playing overall. While the reason for the bands formation is certainly admirable, and with the end of the ABB, watching Derek only playing with the TTB in his musical prime is a little disappointing. Hopefully when the kids grow up he'll move in another direction. I hope you like the DTB stuff.
I'm happy to see someone doing this old classic. Joe Cocker diid an amzing version.
Box tops, How did a cover
That was just outstanding!
When the guitar comes off, the pipes are coming out strong!
All seventy of them are masters of their craft.. I cannot wait to experience that wall of sound at Red Rocks in August!
I do love me some TTB. They were marvelous seperately, but together they are FANTASTIC. And the musical ensemble they have put together has got to be the best.
That girl can sing the blues rock n roll
This band is very much worthy of it.
Whatever was wrong with her voice is fine now. Thank God she's a treasure. What a band.
Outstanding performance! What a band!
good to know that music is still alive
Thanks for posting, 6Hills. So cool to hear your story. The closest I got to Otis was my 8Track deck. But I got so close to his soul that I’ll never forget those days!
Fuck, these guys are amazing!! And the Drummers!!! So tight!!The singers voice is off the chain!! This whole band have it all.
Wow Susan Great soul voice I know You Love Joe Cocker I will see him in Heaven soon!!
Man, what a voice. And Derek is one of the greatest ever - just perfect.
Super talented band! Derek is truly masterful as Susan is fabulously soulful! And speaking of soul....what a GROOVE the band hits!
By And Far The Best Band In Playing Today.
This is the BEST version of this song ever....Her vocals are beyond everyone else...And I saw Cocker perform this live several times.
Holy Sheet, What a cover...Crazy talent.
Brilliant!!!
Oh, what a wonderful band !!!
This is a really nice mix, and the gal with the tambourine had the good sense to keep it away from a mic.
Nice....full sound and funky!
Saw these guys play in San Diego last weekend. Absolutely phenomenal show!
Love this band!!!!!
Wow! What you'd call a very neat rendition of a great song! Quite a relief to realize that there are still vocalists such as Susan Tedeschi and guitar players such as Derek Trucks.
Rockin'Angels! Grateful 🙏
Wow jus Wow , big 💗 from Australia, thank you for being you !
Her voice reminds me of Janis Joplin. I love it! 💝
Yes it does, however, not quite there but good enough.
They are the BESTEST!!!!
This is Epic!
When I was stationed in the Army in Germany in 1970 Bob Evans of the Box Tops was stationed there too. one of my friends said that was him and I did not believe him until years later when I saw a picture of him.
That is one hot horn section! Gotta have horns!
Scott Dont forget the cowbell!
Love it when Classic songs are revealed/Revived. So many great songs could be jump started again from groups like The Beau Brummell’s , Rascals, Quick Silver to name just a few
I have seen then twice! Awsome!
A lot of talent on that stage. I remember that song from the 60’s.👍👍
Lovin' that bluesy rockin' music!!
Such a perfect tune for this band. This is acknowledging where they come from --- they're a great big Soul band!
Great cover and an awesome Band! Loved seeing them live last summer, keep on rocking 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼☮️
OMG This woman is awesome!
one of my favs for sure, they work for their money, a fact unreal big hearted folks,

Together with Beth the best voices in Bluesrock!
Puts me in mind of the Blues Brothers Band!
Derek s an ace....well learnt the master's lesson
