She's always been such a sleeper talent. She looks so unassuming, like someone in front of you at Starbucks. Then she belts it out so effortlessly that it looks easy.

The magic of hyper cardioid microphones and maybe some over dubbing! They are also amazing musicians who are holding back on their power. The fact that the vocals came out this well is in part due to the engineers. The mix is very good in a less than ideal room.

I saw Derek for the first time in Fort Myers Fl. in a little club. I think he was 14 years old. I was blown away. Since then I've been a huge fan. In my humble opinion, Tedeschi Trucks band is currently the best band in the land. Susan's vocals are so soulful and everyone in the band is so humble. All of them are world class musicians. There is definitely a sharing of something deeper than just chords, notes, melodies and harmonies that transpires when you see these guys. So thank you for all of the incredible music. And I hope you guys keep doing it for many years to come.

Second song - when the horns come in, it must have blown that tiny room away! Everybody smiles when it happens! Great energy - always brightens my day to hear these people play.
How lucky are we that the greatest living guitar player happened to fall in love with Bonnie Raitt 2.0 and they decided to form a rock and blues revival band?? Unreal this band. Unreal.
How great is TTB?!? Susan's voice is just dripping with so much soul and tone!! Great songs, great singing, great slide guitar, great band!!! Come to Shreveport do I can roll out and see y'all!!! I just love you guys!!! Keep Rocking It!!!
Lynyrd Skynyrd & The Allman Brothers would be proud. Derek & Susan lead a great band that makes all of us that know and miss that Southern Soul Music. Close your eyes and feel it
+Michael Babcock Yeah, she definitely has that "a prison CO would give her a pass" thing about her. She always brings it. Maybe the general populace ought to look at these guys as the new definition of "Professionalism," rather than examples in the business world we've been spoonfed all these years.
not for nothing but i can remember reading about her in guitar mags back in high school in the 90s. blues bands just aren't as popular as they once were. seemed like they were making a comeback for a bit when she, johnny lang, and kws hit the scene but i guess it never really took off. :/
What a great band! Susan reminds me of Janis in her gritty soulfulness. Derek is a guitar genius with an incredible feel. Amazing horn section and back up vocalists. A terrific catalog of songs. And then there’s Kofi, who is irreplaceable and hugely missed.🙏🏽
Whenever I watch them perform, Susan's love for Derek sneaks out and is reflected in her singing and on her face. BB King also loved DT and we know that BB was a good judge of amazing talent.
Around 4 years ago I came here from watching Derek and Susan perform with BB King at the Royal Albert Hall, and 4 years later I can honestly say I've put more hours into listening to anything tedeschi trucks related than hours I've spent eating dinners!
Saw them last night in Clearwater, FL. They are probably the best blues band touring today and well worth the price of admission. The combination of Susan Tedeschi's bluesy vocals and Derek Trucks' highly expressive playing with the support of the horn section, backing vocalist / percussionists, keyboard player, bassist and two drummers is truly stunning!
Like how Susan forgets the words on "Any How" looks at Derrick, he smiles ever so slightly. She finishes the rest and giggles lol! Everyone messes up. It's how you recover that matters. Most people probably didn't even catch it.
Such joy, just brings tears to my eyes listening to people who love the music, play from the heart and the hip, Susan is the biz, brings back the feelings of 60s gigs, (yes, longlived geiser) They are all wonderful, love to hear them live every week . . . .
Still back here twice a week. Best band ever. Those horns on the intro are so filthy beautiful. Music is still the only thing that gives me that spiritual feeling. Everything will be ok, it's got to be with this in the world. ❤
+Peter van Kan - One of my oldest friends (and getting older every day) always said that Dylan isn't THE God, but he's certainly A God. I think it's fair to say that applies here...
Wow... proves to me again that some things you have to do with genuine love. And you'll really know you've done so when others feel/sense it too. I watched this with a deep sense of wonder and contentment.
honestly, having heard dozens of Tiny Desks and even more live shows of TTB, I still come back here and listen to this one. And one thing occurs to me now- this warrants more than 4.5M views- more people need to hear them, now more than ever maybe.
Even more than the musicianship (which is awe-inspiring), they are just so joyful! Their happiness is infectious, it makes me so happy. My new favorite band.
I have always preferred bands with 3-5 members. Tedeschi Trucks proves to be special because they exhibit a tightness with almost a dozen people that one rarely sees in a smaller group. From the horn section to the rhythm section (featuring 2 drummers) to the backup singers to the amazing talents of Derek and Susan, everyone adds an element that makes such beautiful noise. I could listen all day to this blues symphony.
There are no words to express how much I love this band and appreciate the music they are making. I wish my father was still around. He would have loved this.
Britt Harmon my Dad is directly responsible for my love of this band. He passed in Nov. Wish we could've had a drink and cranked this up. He would love these guys.
This was something so special, I come back to it often because of the brilliance. Not many bands have this level of talent, chemistry, and love for music. As for Derek's solos, just wow - he's one of the most gifted guitarists to walk this planet and probably the best slide player of this era 🔥🔥🔥
My bandmates and I just saw them live at Peach Fest and were blown away, so much soul in these artists and so much soul shared out into the world. Highly enjoyed every aspect of it, I may have cried during a sax solo XD
This tiny desk concert was my introduction to TTB at the very start of the Covid 19 lockdown almost 2 years ago. Since then I have tried to listen to anything by them and nothing has disappointed. What an incredible group of individual musicians, all coming together to form an amazing band. Delighted to say I got tickets for their gig in Ireland next November - front row seats as well. Thanks to NPR, Tiny Desk and TTB for giving me so much music, joy, pleasure, excitement.......
There's a layer in this performance where some of the musicians acknowledge that it's a weird place to play a show, the sound isn't anything like they're used to and there's glances and nods among them to that end. The funny thing is even though that's going on they still turn in an absolute diamond set that's still picking up serious views even in 2021. Incredible scenes.

It’s true, he is the best guitarist alive
clapton is still alive my man
Buddy Guy isn't dead as far as I know. Someone may want to check on that, actually.
Ureal band?as the energy that they give always
Personally I think he’s a bit luckier than she is…
What a voice she has
I have just discovered this band and I am blown away by Susan's voice. Smooth as warm butter but with a hint of the butter knife!
@@ijmad well said, i might borrow that phrase!
How great is TTB?!? Susan's voice is just dripping with so much soul and tone!! Great songs, great singing, great slide guitar, great band!!! Come to Shreveport do I can roll out and see y'all!!! I just love you guys!!! Keep Rocking It!!!
No way I thought this band was gonna sound like this. Bless you, Tiny Desk....a truly endless musical treasure mine.
Lynyrd Skynyrd & The Allman Brothers would be proud. Derek & Susan lead a great band that makes all of us that know and miss that Southern Soul Music.
Close your eyes and feel it
Susan Tedeschi isn't exactly underrated, but she deserves even more recognition on how bad-ass she is.
+Michael Babcock Yeah, she definitely has that "a prison CO would give her a pass" thing about her. She always brings it. Maybe the general populace ought to look at these guys as the new definition of "Professionalism," rather than examples in the business world we've been spoonfed all these years.
@@adamchurvis1 Awesome awesome awesome blues singer!
So much.
not for nothing but i can remember reading about her in guitar mags back in high school in the 90s. blues bands just aren't as popular as they once were. seemed like they were making a comeback for a bit when she, johnny lang, and kws hit the scene but i guess it never really took off. :/
Heard someone say Susan is a National Treasure..I agree..and you can add Derek and the band to that...
I love Sue and Derek playing with their eyes closed. They are truly feeling the music.
So amazingly beautiful , by the third song I was actually crying and then laughing at how good it was. Unexpected. New fan
I come back to this TDC often. Their performance just allows me to sail away for a little while.
Such joy, just brings tears to my eyes listening to people who love the music, play from the heart and the hip, Susan is the biz, brings back the feelings of 60s gigs, (yes, longlived geiser) They are all wonderful, love to hear them live every week . . . .
The transition from Don’t Know What It Means to Anyhow was IMMACULATE. So smooth.
You can just feel the love between Susan and Derek. It's so pure!
Still back here twice a week. Best band ever. Those horns on the intro are so filthy beautiful. Music is still the only thing that gives me that spiritual feeling. Everything will be ok, it's got to be with this in the world. ❤
They're definitely the best band I've ever seen live. Truly the greatest.
This music makes you remember why life is worth living. Sweet, sweet nectar for the soul in the form of sound. ❤
I hate it when people compare Derek Trucks to God. I mean, sure, he's good, he's great. But he's no Derek Trucks.
+Peter van Kan yeah, he is non existent...
+Peter van Kan - One of my oldest friends (and getting older every day) always said that Dylan isn't THE God, but he's certainly A God. I think it's fair to say that applies here...
+Peter van Kan My favorite comment ever
+Peter van Kan lmao
Lol you win the comments section.
Wow... proves to me again that some things you have to do with genuine love. And you'll really know you've done so when others feel/sense it too. I watched this with a deep sense of wonder and contentment.
Set List
"Just As Strange" 0:00 - 3:34
"Don't know What it is" 3:46 - 9:57
"Anyhow" 9:58 - 17:25
Doing God work!
This whole show was amazing. Susan & Derek are awesome and the fantastic Horns section. ❤✌️
honestly, having heard dozens of Tiny Desks and even more live shows of TTB, I still come back here and listen to this one. And one thing occurs to me now- this warrants more than 4.5M views- more people need to hear them, now more than ever maybe.
I personally might account for a good half million of those views😬
Everyone needs to hear this, at least once.
Me too! Just saw them in NJ and needed more, so I came back to their Tiny Desk as I do regularly. TTB feeds the soul.
Even more than the musicianship (which is awe-inspiring), they are just so joyful! Their happiness is infectious, it makes me so happy. My new favorite band.
Absolutely insane, even Derek squeezed a little smile in it:))
This is art, this is American Treasure, this something to hold our heads high about.
I feel the same ! an American Treasure the really brings everyone together. So proud !
yes!
I saw them last year in Manhattan, what an amazing performance!
yeah, a bit of payback to the world after 4 yrs of that curse called Trump
@@tarjeik7162 orange man bad, orange man bad! I agree this music makes the world a better place, but it wasnt made awful in 4 years. Get a grip.
Britt Harmon he's hearing it.
How. I think Britt meant that he is dead.
I think that's what Arthur meant, too.
Britt Harmon my Dad is directly responsible for my love of this band. He passed in Nov. Wish we could've had a drink and cranked this up. He would love these guys.
Britt Harmon mine too. My Dad would of loved this. Rite up ole Panama Pat Wilsons alley. Love it.
pretty sure this is the best ever tiny desk concert.
Courtney Heuwinkel it is pretty amazing
Hard call. But it's definitely my favorite!!
Robert cray is a contender?
They are top level. But, check out Anderson Paak.
Most definitely. Just amazing.
This was something so special, I come back to it often because of the brilliance. Not many bands have this level of talent, chemistry, and love for music. As for Derek's solos, just wow - he's one of the most gifted guitarists to walk this planet and probably the best slide player of this era 🔥🔥🔥
I've been watching this for 6 years.. and never a dry eye by the end.
Remember seeing Derek at Smiths Old Bar ATL when he was 18ish. He was amazing then LOVE THIS BAND Thank you TINY DESK!
My bandmates and I just saw them live at Peach Fest and were blown away, so much soul in these artists and so much soul shared out into the world. Highly enjoyed every aspect of it, I may have cried during a sax solo XD
The audio mix is incredible, long live to the TDC series!
Freakin amazing
I actually prefer listening to this compared to the studio version. Got WAY more energy!
fully agree with all comments, incredible audio mix, great energy and performance, and the bassist is killing it!!!
tompaclock Live versions are always better.
Live music is better, bumper stickers should be issued ... Neil Young
Bonnie Rait, Susan Tedeschi are my Valkyries. All my love my Queens.❤❤❤
Ahhhhh real musicians who can play and a singer who can truly deliver....restored my faith in music...I thank you !
The consumer has the power to support real music
There's a layer in this performance where some of the musicians acknowledge that it's a weird place to play a show, the sound isn't anything like they're used to and there's glances and nods among them to that end. The funny thing is even though that's going on they still turn in an absolute diamond set that's still picking up serious views even in 2021. Incredible scenes.
That last solo from Derek just gets better for every time I hear it. Holy smokes!
