Written of course by John Sebastian and one of the Lovin'Spoonfulls best tunes, but I guessed U knew that anyhow.A superb cover so what,s not 2 like about this brilliant band?
In case the music wasn't reason enough to love them, Susan and Derek continued to pay their band and entire crew during the pandemic. That is the highest degree of character.
My wife thinks I'm stalking Susan, because I've been listening to them so much lately. Fact is, I haven't seen a new band come along that moved me like this in decades. Beautiful voice of Susan, unearthly guitar from Derek, and one of the tightest bands I've heard since the original Allman Brothers 45 years ago. I've been waiting a long, long time for these guys.
For me Delaney & Bonnie started it all in 1969. Mad Dogs carried that on with several of the same performers. Allman Brothers really turned heads with beautiful and very powerful music. Then we suffered through the disco and anthem rock years. And finally we're back to the roots in a reincarnation that should endure for many years because TTB can be trusted to do the right thing. I appreciate that they are willing to cover so many great songs.
John Sebastian, like the late Andrew Gold, will go down as one of the most underrated, overlooked talents of a generation consumed with pop and profit. See also: Pete Bardens. #JustSayin'. ❣
These two have got to be the coolest couple ever. To be able to work together, make today's most amazing music, raise a family, and build the love of thousands upon thousands fans all over the world, all while apparently being humble, real human beings is such a rare, rare, rare thing. I wish them and theirs peace and happiness for all the days of their lives.
So true. I drove a semi in the industry for 14 yrs. and I remember when Susan was on BB King's Blues fest and Charlie was a baby.. and Derek with the Allman Bros. Both down to earth, real, and very hard working.
I’m certain that you’re correct about him being proud of this rendition of his song. I imagine he got a bit of a chill down his spine. I have most of the Lovin’ Spoonful albums they made some wonderful music.
The best band by a cake walk performing today. The entire band at 100% + on this track. Derek is on a different level. IMHO he is the best guitarist out there, and has been for over a decade or more.

Don’t know if anyone noticed but on the back of the head on Susan’s fender it’s signed. I wonder who it is , that’s serious cred when your signing Susan’s T’s guitar
Such a beautiful version of this song from such a total talent ….thank you for continuing to tour ! See them every time in my town ….always a magical and blissful night .
Just love this band. Can listen to them forever. But I must say, the brass section puts the icing on the cake. They are great and the back up singers are awesome.
DT ' s talent is so high and natural that he gives the impression that he doesn't realize how good he is. And that is not in any way a criticism but an observation of his humility and character. Just amazing!
The song still has that emotional power all these years later and obviously many great performers sing it. This version has a nice soulful feel but with Susan's voice, it maintains the necessary poignancy. Nice trumpet and backup singers. These people have extended this song's life with a haunting and compelling take and introduced it to new, younger ears. If you don't know where rock and roll has gone -- it's healthy and living with Tedeschi-Trucks. Rap and hip-hop have nothing on this.
@John LaStrada - I couldn't agree more with you. I am going to see them this summer in July. Been waiting since i purchased tickets in 2019. Of course the concert was postponed due to COVID. But finally this year the Band will make their way to the the Artpark Venue near Niagara Falls, NY. They are honoring all previously purchased tickets.
Not just the horn, the singing, the drums, the guitar ...but all of it together. Best band ever to perform this favorite song of yesteryear. TTB - tysm. ❤
This is the best "new band" I've seen in at least 20 years. I have such a "voice crush" on Susan that my wife hates her now. I found this band through my love of the Allman Bros. Now the only way to hear my brothers is if TTB plays em. No other hand does 2 drummers like a brothers offshoot. Love this band!!!
Everytime I listen to Derek he takes me to a place few musicians have. He starts off soft and slow and before you know it your in an intense ride holding on for the next note. Gives me the chills.
First heard this tune sung by John Sebastian on the soundtrack for the film "You're a Big Boy Now" in a theater in Nagpur, India in 1968. It sent me home to the woman who would be my wife.
Amazing arrangement. ST and DT are always so amazing. I love the way he looks at her. But, a special hat tip to the rest of this band. Amazing vocals, horns, steady beat keepers, all around tight.
Can I say this band these songs have gotten me thru some horrifically tough times and are still carrying me in my down moments..I am eternally grateful....memories of the red rocks show take me up in vibration just needed them to know
Is it Susan is it Derek is it the players, oh it's Tedeschi Trucks Band.. how are they not better known is just a mystery. Started being amazed by Derek when he was 12, as was anybody that's ever picked up an ax. Susan oh just played with everyone.. love love love this Band period
I SO wanna see this band in concert! This song runs the full range of great musicianship! Derek's guitar solo is, to use an over-used adjective, awesome. It's emotion, talent, passion, and a slow-explanation to the audience, it just builds and builds as he draws you in to the entire song. Great band, wonderful performance by all!
...Your sound man/team have a beautifully sound sensitivity. Every instrument perfectly in it's place. The blend of vocals crisp clear, your horn players creatively sensitive, droms, bass keys, everything perfect. I am 73, slightly handicapped, single, one bedroom apartment. A multi instrumentalist, play kes for GOD on the Praise Team. What a perfect song here, thank you, Blessings...

One of the best covers of this song I ever heard perform and be honest this one of the best bands you can possibly imagine at this time
Better than the original. Maybe because this song is supposed to be sung by a female
Don’t know if anyone noticed but on the back of the head on Susan’s fender it’s signed. I wonder who it is , that’s serious cred when your signing Susan’s T’s guitar
Somewhere, up there, Uncle Duane is smiling. And for good reason!
Uncle Butch
And don't forget Uncle Claude Hudson " Butch " Trucks , who brought Derek into the Allman Brothers Band . ☮️
If they are playing anywhere from where you are....GO....they are best live band working right now
This is a band that just oozes passion and belief in sharing great music a joy to watch and listen to
Fantastic... thanks for posting
Such a beautiful version of this song from such a total talent ….thank you for continuing to tour ! See them every time in my town ….always a magical and blissful night .
I keep hitting " replay " on this 😏
this womans voice is special.
Just love this band. Can listen to them forever. But I must say, the brass section puts the icing on the cake. They are great and the back up singers are awesome.
Real people playing real music .... so perfect ....
@@Changelingheart - Have a great time Lois...but still be careful. It should be a great show.
Not just the horn, the singing, the drums, the guitar ...but all of it together. Best band ever to perform this favorite song of yesteryear. TTB - tysm. ❤
What a great,. soulful remake of one of the most beautiful love songs ever recorded.☺️
B. B. King once said Derek Trucks was "as good as it gets" .
And that's praise "as good as it gets."
Agree!! BB! love this band!
True words from the master himself!
"That's as good as I've ever heard."
Thank you Susan and Derek .
I love watching Susan watch him, her facial expressions are always the best. :)
She love him!
New relationship and feeling like this today
Everytime I listen to Derek he takes me to a place few musicians have. He starts off soft and slow and before you know it your in an intense ride holding on for the next note. Gives me the chills.
All the while he's (mostly) just standing there blowing our faces off while he just looks like..here we go another day at the office of a job I like.

Outstanding is the only word that fits!!!!
First heard this tune sung by John Sebastian on the soundtrack for the film "You're a Big Boy Now" in a theater in Nagpur, India in 1968. It sent me home to the woman who would be my wife.
Probably the best crescendo in modern music.
Spoiler Alert!!! You MUST listen to this right through to the last note. Between Susan and a ripping solo by Derek, this is AS GOOD AS IT GETS!
I confess Susan is an Angel....
The wonder of youtube .I was listening to Slade singing this song and wondered who the original was but then found this
great until 6mins
Amazing arrangement. ST and DT are always so amazing. I love the way he looks at her. But, a special hat tip to the rest of this band. Amazing vocals, horns, steady beat keepers, all around tight.
One of my lockdown discoveries. Is there a tighter band than this currently playing?
Can I say this band these songs have gotten me thru some horrifically tough times and are still carrying me in my down moments..I am eternally grateful....memories of the red rocks show take me up in vibration just needed them to know
Is it Susan is it Derek is it the players, oh it's Tedeschi Trucks Band.. how are they not better known is just a mystery. Started being amazed by Derek when he was 12, as was anybody that's ever picked up an ax. Susan oh just played with everyone.. love love love this Band period
Where has this band been my whole life? Oh My goodness her beautiful precious voice.
Like BB King himself said, "That's the best I've ever heard"! WOW!
Seen band twice they played well
Beacon NYC a-mazing!!!! If ya can go to a small venue...
Gotta love how so many of their songs end after Derek's solo, because what could possibly be said after that?
Love the trumpet solo too
Liking the use of the trumpet
Dear God, Please make some more Susan's as soon as you can, thank you in advance
yes, but we got one to rearrange our spines already!
It's funny, not really, as we were praying for someone to step up in Bonnie Raitts' place... and here come Tedeschi and Trucks......
and more dereks for me please!
1 susan is enough
to clarify. i love susan. 1 bonnie i susan i joanie 1 jimi 1janis icoltrane 1 john philip sousa
Written by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful. One of my favorite songs.
gosh darnit. Why is someone chopping onions every time I hear this song? Dust in my eye. Yeah. thats it. That must be it.
Yeah, that's the ticket. Dust. Effin allergies, anyway. Lotta that goin' around, when this band plays.
I can relate, damned onions.
Lean and clean 🧼 soul
I luv the way Susan looks at Derek!!!
It always makes me smile to see that combination of love, admiration and let's face it awe! We should ALL be so lucky. It really is sweet isn't it
I get goose bumps...
Derek is one of the greatest guitarists!
Her facial expressions along with the vocal inflections are such gun to watch
I let this play in my car until almost done, and start it again. Over and over.
I do the same!
This was so smooth, my toast just buttered itself.
I heard Susan in a recent interview....so cool....she said, "Anyone person in the band could be the front person...there's that much talent."....
...Your sound man/team have a beautifully sound sensitivity.
