Ox’s can’t lift Harvesters due to the Tiberium being too dangerous to fly around a battlefield. They can’t lift Rigs due to their intricate machinery. They can’t lift Mammoths because… girth? I guess. Edit: I was in a rush when I wrote this so I'll elaborate a little. The Harvesters will likely either have a full cargo hold or traces of Tiberium inside them. In either case if they get shot down, that's more Tiberium contamination - potentially over a Yellow or even Blue Zone. For a full hold, that would also be too heavy and potentially unstable to carry - since Tiberium is explosive, it might be volatile in the state it's harvested in until it's refined. The Rigs are as stated by a comment to be a utility vehicle so aren't likely to be vital for aerial transport, but that would have it's uses. I think it's down more to the fact that the Rig's build itself is little more than "cockpit". It's literally a glass box with metal bits on the bottom - put simply there's nowhere to grab it without potentially tearing off the head, which we know extends when deployed. It'd be like picking up a jar by the lid. As for Mammoths their sheer weight would definitely preclude the Ox transports from carrying them - on top of that, if ONE transport could carry one, it would take ONE lucky Rocket Militant to destroy a very powerful and very expensive GDI vehicle unit, alongside it's presumably highly-trained crew. Plus if it did get shot down, it's gonna land on *something*. And that *something* won't fare well. Also, it's likely that even if one Ox transport could lift it, it'd be far too heavy to move fast enough to evade attacks or keep up with it's escorts and other transports. The MCV can be lifted in a "cutscene" but as you can see it clips to all Hell inside the Ox, so it's very definitely been jury-rigged for the dramatic entrance. As for actual reasons, I again imagine it's far too heavy to lift safely and efficiently. That, and dropping a 3,500+ credit mobile firebase because the transport's engine failed would probably cause a little uproar. Engineers aren't cheap either. The Titan Mark II is as mentioned probably too heavy and unwieldy to carry via Ox, and likely the Steel Talons know how vulnerable they are to being shot down in flight, so forbid it. Their funds are stretched as-is. And the Juggernaut/Behemoth are simply way too heavy, expensive and unwieldy to lift. See again my "every crash is a landing" and "lift a jar by the lid" analogies. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. Peace Through Power.
I agree that the Harvesters seem too hazardous to carry. Even empty there will be traces of tiberium inside if its been used. The last thing GDI wants is a harvester dropping somewhere and starting a new patch. Rig is not a combat vehicle since its listed function is to secure territory once its been cleared. No need to have it air transportable since its not going to be rushed into combat. Sort of like a supply truck. I won’t try to do any maths on it but even if GDI has some new armour material that is light the sheer size of that thing slung bellow one transport would be a pig to fly with. I can only think of two ways to make that thing is fly. One the ground crew wire it up to a few transports like a Jaeger from Pacific Rim and fly in some tight formation to carry it. One Rocket and you lose all the transports plus a Mammoth. Or you can try my crazy plan to make the MCV fly bellow. If you want to make an MCV airdropable if if you strip everything non essential to flight from that V-35 and that the MCV wouldn't be able to fabricate on site. I’m talking the what they did to those B-25’s during the Doolittle Raid. Pull any limiter from the engine for more power at the cost of fuel consumption. Fit the both with some JATO or RATO boosters to help with take-off. Once both are as light as possible have the MCV drive to a runway facing away from the destination. Have its upper crane slide forwards as far as it can without dropping the body. That gets you a some what flat space on top and the somewhat rounded end facing the direction of travel. Drain any fuel from the MCV to cut more weight. Now to fill the V-35 with just enough fuel to hover and land on top of the MCV. Weld on some attachment points and clamp it. Give the V-35 enough fuel for a rolling take off and no more. Have the MCV put its wheels into neutral and pray. The V-35 has to reach a high enough speed it can overcome the MCV’s mass and drag to the point it can take off. If it can go fast enough and just lift off it can use the ground effect to pull it off. You need to keep performing mid air refuelling the whole way since its going to burn fuel. Once its near the drop point aim for a highway or large flat area. Let the MCV’s wheels make contact and have them signal to release. Pop the clamps the moment you hear its down and then RTB. Once you land write off the V-35. I don’t know what process GDI uses to say don’t use it but I’m saying don’t use it. Ever. This whole plan relies on every trick I can think of to pull it off. But it still poses a massive risk to both transport and MCV. Probably why no one wants to do it in universe. Gameplay wise having the MCV do some crazy airdrop would be cool but making the animation for one mission would be a waste.
At the end of the day the Ox has no reason beyond gameplay to be worse than the Orca Carryall. SO I just headcanon that it actually can do all of that.
@@igncom1 I still like the idea of some ground crew being told they need to make an MCV fly for the next mission. Nothing gets the enlisted going like a good challenge.

5:45 It's body is pretty much completely C5 but the wings are C130. You can tell not only by the propellors but also by how thin and flat they are compared to the more chunky and strongly shaped wings on the C5. You actually can't physically put such thin and flat wings on a plane that big. A heavy planes demands thicker wings to bear the load and flatter wings produce less lift so demand a higher angle of attack but do grant more maneuverability and less drag which is why you often see them on fighter planes. The C130 is meant to operate from forward air bases and to possibly dodge AA fire or use it's flares to distract them before escaping.
15:40 It's funny how you can clearly see the two blocks for launching unguided missiles (two cone-shaped things with holes around the tip) under the wings of Hammerhead, next to the two pairs of machine guns, and this helicopter in the game is only capable of firing machine guns and that's it
I never did like the change to most aircraft to make the ones with bullets have unlimited ammo like the hammerhead and venom. I'm fine with warships like the Scrin use or Soviet Kirovs having unlimited ammo, but otherwise you end up with swarms of fast destroy-all aircraft like hammerheads, venoms, or twinblades swarming about like mutalisks from starcraft. Just not for me, I much prefer my aircraft to be very different to other unit types like tanks and infantry.
Strategic placed lightly armoured slingshots often made minced meat of airthreats. They also have unlimited ammo like most of the units in the C&C universe. Later on only non rotary air units (Orca, Firehawk, Vertigo, Mig, F117, Raptor and Aurora etc.etc. ) had return to base to rearm. The Apache / Helix in C&C generals also had unlimited ammo.
@@obelic71 yeah but it was never really a mechanic that really jelled with me. Aircraft with ammo, barring the slow airships, always felt like a more enjoyable difference with ground units.
there is concept art of GDIs X-O Powersuits equipped with jetpacks being deployed thru the bomb-bay doors on a unknown aircraft. would have loved to see that in a new C&C FPS game that is set between tiberium dawn and tibreium sun
Think the issue with the Ox being able to airlift a ConYard but not a Mammoth or Titan or anything else is more because of the mass - i.e. the ConYard, unlike frontline units, doesn't really have that much armor and may not be as heavy.
I'm impressed. I wanted to nit pick on the First Tiberian War - my expertise area - but you got what I had in mind plus more. And no, those were not new planes - they were indeed incorrectly modelled. That unnamed plane was another incorrectly modelled F23 Black Widow.
It could be there would be a special heavy lift variant of the ox transport that would be required to transport heavier vehicles like the mammoth or MCV, but that isn't reflected in the game
At the risk of sounding like a Nod follower the Firehawk is an example of GDI’s decadence the craft requires an AI to work and constant maintenance but they’re not willing to scrap it.
If I'm not mistaken if the hammerhead got a squad of missiles squad , they can be used not only ground but also air. They shoot any air enemies that chasing the hammerheads
The OX could lift heavy vehicles, just not in Field conditions, it took a lot of time and expert labor to prep them for transport plus specialist equipment only available in more permanent facilities.
Fun Fact. Both dropship and Kodiak are in fact Orcas. Full name of dropship is Orca Dropship. And Kodiak was a name of most known OCV - Orca Command Vehicle.
I'm going to make a wild assumption - The reason the V-35 had apparent weird weight limits like it could carry a mobile construction base but not a smaller but large tank was not to do with weight, but lack of appropriate mounting points on the vehicle is carried or the V-35 itself. For whatever reason, the mobile construction base had appropriate mounting points which enabled it be carried but certain large vehicles did not.
You know when I was younger I thought it was weird that GDI didn't have any jets or anything in Tiberian Sun, but we see all the time that ion storms will knock aircraft right out of the sky so risking expensive jets making long missions when an ion storm could pop up at any time isn't smart. Helicopters make sense as they'd have an easier time taking off and setting down at a moment's notice.
To be fair to the in-game representation of the A-10. Real world A-10s get most of their tank kills through missiles anyway, rarely using their guns. The guns could barely get a penetration on the top armor of a M48 Patton tank from the 1950s anyway.
Maybe the ox just cant lift the titan, mammoth, juggernaut, rig and harvester due to them being awkward to carry and/or unload or not designed to be carried while the mcv was designed to be moved by ox to help in the mobile part of the mcv's name while gdi didnt see a use for having the others be able to be moved by the ox, for me this makes sense due to the titan and juggernaut being large two legged mechs, the harvester isnt really needed to be moved by a ox due to it refineries not being to far from tiberium fields, the rig idk probably just not designed or awkard to carry but this js me trying to give a reason for them not to be carried and im sorry if this is a mess of a paragraph.
At around 5min mark there is a combat between the F-22 and an unknown fighter jet. I always thought and still do that it was not the Brotherhood's Raptor but the GDI's. The author of this video bases it's assumption on the next appearance of this mysterious fighter in the view of the Nod's SAM site being shot down by it, but if you look closely, the first mystery aircraft is quite different from the one shot down by the SAM. So...it doesn't necesserily mean that the first one is the GDI's fighter, and it seems that the second one is completely different aircraft.
Excelent videos, some corrections 10:25 Firehawk drop bombs, not air to ground missiles, also if a hammerhead contains a Rocket Squad or Zone Raider squad it can attack aircraft and even destroy venoms in one to one battles.
if you put Zone Raiders in a Hammerhead they with shoot their missiles at air targets in self defense as well as shoot their sonic grenades at ground targets
i wouldn’t call the Hammerhead a NOTAR. NOTAR is usually referring to the helicopters that use engines (to push air) to counteract the rotor forces. Dual Rotor is usually what’s used to refer to helicopters with 2 sets of blades/rotors
Fun fact about the Hawkeye EAW, watching a special from the old collectors box thing, I vaugly remember them mentioning that the first thing ever shown publicly of CNC was the cutscenes of it crashing. I remember someone saying something like they had no other information on what the game is but they where interested by that alone. The fact that the brotherhood where the ones using raptors kinda blows my mind. The idea that the gdi would use the mig over the raptor is just... I dunno. It feels wrong lol. Tbf as stated, they share some equipment so it's possible the gdi does indeed use raptors. But why use a raptor when you can use the thing that hunts raptors lol One reason I could see them giving the brotherhood a raptor in the cutscene is to establish how more advanced gdi is supposed to be. Back then and even today, the raptor is one of the most advanced jets in the world. So showing that gdi has something that can take a raptor is a good way to establish their technological superiority. Like in superhero things where they beat the bad guy by the end and then the next bad guy in the next entry is even stronger. Like in the movie with thors hammer. There's one game that takes place on an aircraft that is being escorted by f22s and it's used to establish the technology of the world because they are mentioned as being outdated relics. Iirc most ace combat games have you flying an old mig during the start of the game but I think electrosphere started you with a raptor or an f14 or something. I could just Google it but the point is using the f22 as a primitive or lesser thing is a rarely used but interesting way to subtly mention how more advanced technology has gotten for either the world or a faction
I wouldn't say that GDI's air forces surpassed Nod's during any way past the First Tiberium War. I mean, Nod start using Scrin and plasma technology pretty quickly. And the drop-ship is pretty clearly based on Orca technology IMO.

If I had to come up with a hypothetical reason why oxs could'nt/wouldn't pick up harvesters, it'd be that GDI wouldn't risk valuable equipment being ferried around in the air. Lose all your harvesters and it's hard to recover.... There's a reason Nod, GDI and even the scrin would target them first.
(Addressing 6:23 comment on GDI utilizing Mammoths because Russia was part of GDI) In real life lore, Mammoth Tanks were NATO. Russia's irl tank philosophy is to go light - nothing above 55 tons. Whereas irl NATO tanks go heavy and armored - Abrams, Leopards, etc. It was only in C&C that this system is upside down. In C&C, Russia still has her T-80s and the West produces lighter versions of Abrams - something like the Japanese Type 90. Then in C&C, Russia goes all the way and has Mammoths.

Even in Tiberian Sun, the Orca Carryalls lifted Mammoth Mark II’s around, and Manmoth Mk. II is even bigger than a Mammoth Tank or an Apocalypse Tank
RA3 was considerably looser with its representation of physics
I will say in Tib 3 Nod’s Venom craft are the best overall cheap/unlimited ammo and can attack air and ground. Also can extend the range of the beam cannons. Plus Specter aircraft Nods Air Force is pretty good.
Whoop whoop another excuse to watch all the command and conquer lore back to back 🙌🙌☺️

Where is the GDI Dropship launched from? Does anyone know?
@@LINJ638 My headcanon was always the Philadephia or a similar supporting satellite given GDI's push for putting their military assets in orbit at the time and the Dropship coming out of high altitude in game. They dont seem to be able to alone return to high altitude (No stratofighter upgrades yet 😂) since they leave the map at low altitude.
But I don't know of any source to corroborate that.
@@squishymusic9723 Well, Jethild was saying that it wasn't launched from space from the main one that is Philadelphia or other supporting network of space station to the Dropship Center on the ground to his presumption. Weird. Note the huge high gain antenna in the cut content. How do they return to high altitude.
@@LINJ638 Again conjecture/head canon but I would assume additional thrusters - boosters - could be added to allow them to leave. Another idea is that without the cargo container, since it can detach entirely, they would then be able to leave atmosphere.
When I was a kid playing these games I would make up story's like this lol. It is vary nice to see them come to life more with you and no strings thank you.
I still prefer NOD aircraft, Venom is fast, detects invisible targets, can shoot ground and air targets and has laser!
Vertigo is powerful stealth bomber and it looks sleek and badass
I just wished they dropped 2 bombs instead of one
Or maybe lack of usable mounting points the rigs aren’t shaped right harvesters aren’t either and mammoths are just plain huge
@@tiber6942 nothing hurts brotherhood moral more than watching a mammoth MK.II fly across the battlefield.
I got into the series only during the C&C 3 Tiberium Wars era so seeing how gradually the two sides began as basically 21st century militaries and reached what I knew is very interesting.
i really liked firehawk but this unit require a bit micro-ing when i played back then. if you're not careful in dog fight, firehawk missile explosion can damage themself, this is problematic when you trying to hit devastator since firehawk try being cool by flying through devastator and it's missile explosion. perhaps it's patched already
15:20 this implies that the Hammerhead is a descendant of the Mi-24 Hind
If I remember correctly Red Alert had the Mi-24
That's what I think too, since it is the most well known transport/gunship IRL
Also the Firehawk resembles the Russian Su-47 in real life with the wing and body shape.
Another high-quality material, about GDI nonetheless. You made me a really happy man Jethild. Thanks! 👍

I love that you didn't include the 4th game, I love you for respecting the ACCEPTED cannon.
That “unknown fighter” at 4:50 I believe was the SU 47 Berkut stealth fighter normally seen in the Russian Air Force or a modified variant.
I think the Firehawk more closely resembles the SU-47 Berkut.
It's a YF-23 the failed competitor to the F22. The Berkut has backwards swept wings and looks nothing like it
New canon idea:
GDI Aerial/space fairing warships-
1.Havoc-Class Frigate.
2.McNeill-Class Cruiser.
3.Shepard-Class Battlecruiser.
@Jethild 9:20 Imagination and speculation: in order to be able to lift an MCV V-35 could receive a special modification, unavailable to a field commander under normal circumstances.
Another good video. I'm waiting for GDI navy one, that would be interesting.
I love how the pretty large writing error of an entire regiment, upon hearing it I just thought "They suddenly have miniturized scrin portals in there?"

It's body is pretty much completely C5 but the wings are C130.
15:40 It's funny how you can clearly see the two blocks for launching unguided missiles (two cone-shaped things with holes around the tip) under the wings of Hammerhead, next to the two pairs of machine guns, and this helicopter in the game is only capable of firing machine guns and that's it
This video definitely helped me learn how to make a better GDI & Nod Deck on wargame red dragon
A regiment is usually 100s of troops. A brigade is traditionally 1000+ troops.
But your point is still completely valid regarding the Hammerhead.
Hammerhead is just Soviet Twinblade
Slingshot is just bullfrog

there is concept art of GDIs X-O Powersuits equipped with jetpacks being deployed thru the bomb-bay doors on a unknown aircraft. would have loved to see that in a new C&C FPS game that is set between tiberium dawn and tibreium sun
09:20 that MCV told me it only has a wide structure but " isn't heavy or so " ^^
It is weird I always imagined the Ox would be a good soft cookie shape, they just look edible and delicious.
Think the issue with the Ox being able to airlift a ConYard but not a Mammoth or Titan or anything else is more because of the mass - i.e. the ConYard, unlike frontline units, doesn't really have that much armor and may not be as heavy.
I was just about to suggest this
imagine the armor being the thing that dates the game the most.
Almost makes me want to play the missions since I never seen some of this stuff in multiplayer. lol.
Jethild amazing work as always my good man.
I'm impressed. I wanted to nit pick on the First Tiberian War - my expertise area - but you got what I had in mind plus more. And no, those were not new planes - they were indeed incorrectly modelled. That unnamed plane was another incorrectly modelled F23 Black Widow.
I hope we get to see videos on GDI and NOD infantry sometime
It could be there would be a special heavy lift variant of the ox transport that would be required to transport heavier vehicles like the mammoth or MCV, but that isn't reflected in the game
the unknown TW1 GDI aircraft is the YF-23, the rival design to the F-22
Amazing work jethild!
At the risk of sounding like a Nod follower the Firehawk is an example of GDI’s decadence the craft requires an AI to work and constant maintenance but they’re not willing to scrap it.
Another awesome vid Jethlid!
ZOCOM Hammerhead swarms with the faction's special troopers within...the stuff of nightmares.
Thank you for the video! Waiting the same about Nod air force!
Thank you for reigniting my interest in CnC.
Oh, a new coverage.
I'd dig in.
Oh boy i cant wait for the nod air force video
The Unidentified Aircraft is probably called the Warhawk or the X-186 Scimitar.
Still love the Ox's design so much.
He is back at it !!
Excelent videos, some corrections 10:25 Firehawk drop bombs, not air to ground missiles, also if a hammerhead contains a Rocket Squad or Zone Raider squad it can attack aircraft and even destroy venoms in one to one battles.
Su-27/35 with the GDI insignias would look great.
I love your videos dude.
Love all the cnc videos from jethild, there's so much lore to study
if you put Zone Raiders in a Hammerhead they with shoot their missiles at air targets in self defense as well as shoot their sonic grenades at ground targets
i wouldn’t call the Hammerhead a NOTAR. NOTAR is usually referring to the helicopters that use engines (to push air) to counteract the rotor forces.
Dual Rotor is usually what’s used to refer to helicopters with 2 sets of blades/rotors
The unidentified fighter at 4:50 is a YF-23
Fun fact about the Hawkeye EAW, watching a special from the old collectors box thing, I vaugly remember them mentioning that the first thing ever shown publicly of CNC was the cutscenes of it crashing.
I remember someone saying something like they had no other information on what the game is but they where interested by that alone.
The fact that the brotherhood where the ones using raptors kinda blows my mind.
The idea that the gdi would use the mig over the raptor is just... I dunno. It feels wrong lol. Tbf as stated, they share some equipment so it's possible the gdi does indeed use raptors. But why use a raptor when you can use the thing that hunts raptors lol
One reason I could see them giving the brotherhood a raptor in the cutscene is to establish how more advanced gdi is supposed to be.
And the drop-ship is pretty clearly based on Orca technology IMO.
the only Nod aircraft using scrin tech was the Banshee, which was a limited prototype. After that it was back to older designs. GDI maintained a large fleet of fighters and bombers throughout all 4 conflicts.
@@teatanks6481 The Harpy was specifically designed to catch up to the Orca, but I'll agree that Nod was behind on the bomber side during the Second Tib War. But by the third war, there seems to be very little between GDI and Nod in air power.

Okay
If I had to come up with a hypothetical reason why oxs could'nt/wouldn't pick up harvesters, it'd be that GDI wouldn't risk valuable equipment being ferried around in the air.
Lose all your harvesters and it's hard to recover....
There's a reason Nod, GDI and even the scrin would target them first.
You missed out F14s as shown on carrier deck in the opening cut scene

(Addressing 6:23 comment on GDI utilizing Mammoths because Russia was part of GDI)
In real life lore, Mammoth Tanks were NATO.
AFAIK, GDI fielded YF-23s as their air superiority fighter.
