    Hey Joyce,
    Just a suggestion after seeing this video. Some of the signs of this video are applied for all introverts, therefore some signs an IJ can also have. So to tell the introverts apart in a better way, it could be a good idea making a video constrasting the signs of the IP with the signs of the IJ for further clarification. Same could be done with the EJ vs EP for the extroverts.
    Nice work as always😉

    Guess that last one explains why the artists amidst us never show their work or anything super personal in fear being judged and I think also misunderstood.

    Relating to the group dynamics, as a self identified Fi/Ne, I could say that I tend to look at a group as the individuals in it. Even when I found myself in larger groups, I would need to relate to each person in the group individually, being attuned to its needs and feelings - rather than have awareness of the group "vibe" as a whole.

    I'm pretty sure the reason I'm in a constant state of discomfort in social situations is because I take into account other people's thoughts a little too much

    I mean I do feel uneasy being the one to tell people what to do (because I'm not as confident), but at the same time, I don't find it offensive or a means of taking away someone's individuality at all. Especially in workplace settings, people are doing inauthentic things all the time, like if I really had the choice to be myself I wouldn't be working at all but I have to, it's kind of the same with tasks at work (and people are always allowed to refuse doing something if it goes against their beliefs etc). Leading isn't always about ordering people around, it's a lot more than that. I think every MBTI type has the capability to lead, it's just the style of leading and their approach is different. For instance, I wouldn't consider it ordering people around or telling people what to do, but rather finding a way for us to complete a goal by taking on different components of the work that best suit us and delegating that to the person to do. I do value everyone's inner values and truth but it is separate from a work environment or in a place where we have to work as a group because it's no longer only about you (of course I won't compromise or expect anyone else to if it goes against their beliefs but telling someone to cut the lettuce isn't going to harm anyone in that way at a restaurant workplace setting, for example). I just didn't like the wording of the first point, as possible capability is limiting to IP individuals tbh. We have the full capability, it's just a matter of preference.

    I'm an INTP who has mistyped as ISTJ/INTJ when I was younger. I think symptoms of my autism like hyperfocus are what made me mistype as an IJ.

    me deciding and tell my close friend that I am not gonna have any child in my future just bc I don't know what he/she demands from me! idk what sort of way he/she's wants to be build up! I might teach the baby my thoughts and values but it would be so disrespectful bc the baby must be another small human who, in his/ her future, might have his or her own values and thoughts and I must be messing up with his or her idea about how a baby should be raised up!! idk how he or she wants to be raised!
    i know I am kinda overthinking about this sh!t but I just can't let this thought go way!

    Yeah I get that. I would do it when I was younger but I have had a harder time as I get older. It did feel icky the last time. Strangly I was liked. I know I am bit of a hardass or kinda. I guess I just hold everyone accountable for what they do. I want the say but holding people to what I do myself means I need people who are really good at what they do and they take almost no leadership anyway. I work in the construction industry on big critical projects. I am an ISTP and was a good welder and inspector. My attention to detail knowledge and hardliners ethics made me good but I hate it. Often we have huge conflicts of interest in the company and maintaining ethics isn't fun and you will make enemies above and below and I don't have the drive to attach myself to power. This explains why I will usually first gain respect of leadership followed by hatred. And I have more and more contempt for them. Other than doing my own thing my last outlet is teaching. I did it for a year and loved it. While there was plenty of friction it wasn't bad and my values were in line with my mission statement and I could help any who wanted to push but could also live and let live.
    If MBTI ever takes over as completely mainstream it's going to really cause huge problems. I am guessing that actual read world judges or at least the types who develop legal frameworks and ethical systems are IP types however the people who run governments rarely are. If a brain scan can quickly and easily type someone does that become a factor in ethics. Is something that I am thinking about right now because people who I care about and have a type of conflict with, I am noticing are not able to to make a logical argument with. Both are dealing with problems and are accusing me of putting myself first while clearly are coming from the point of view of their own feelings and wants. I have been frustrated by these types being unfair for a long time however does that mean that if we are holding them to the letter and or intent of codees and laws are we also not being ethical since they may not actually be able to think of things in those terms easily or at all. I am beginning to feel this is where a lot of fraud comes in. Granted IPs can do it but it feels like without some sort of reason we wouldn't feel much motivation. Although if we were trying we are scary people.
    That brings me to a last thought. I am a guy who has never been in a real fight and am pretty outgoing for an istp. I like people and find them interesting and also read them well. My idea of a nice evening is having a group of friends and family around me and cooking dinner and great conversation over wine and playing some sort of strategy game together. Cooking for me is my fastest and favorite creative outlet I think because it helps with some of the social stuff and is something I can easily share. My other creative outlets and really my whole purpose in life is to build and to create. I like giving what I make away and hate selling it. LiJo made a skit about the types selling and I totally have said all if my first 3 to people but never fe Fe one. Lol. I have realized I need to find a good sales person because I find the whole process slimy. But anyway to my point. I have zero motivation towards being angry or violent I guess is what I am trying to say. I gather it's pretty common at least for istp to have an interest in knowing how if there was a need. I have been working on brutal self honesty and that is scary shit.I now realize that there is almost nothing I can't make myself do if I had to. To me it is a burden we carry to do the things that have to be done and pay the cost. Like the other things I have interest in I would want to be good and to know how and as many ways as possible. It's not a nice thing to know about oneself.
    The question around that since I pick up that it scares feelers and they feel it coming off me and it's not like I am packing heat. I think others might as well and somehow pick up how our values clash. I also think that if it was ever required they would be the cause. Anyone else think that is true?

    I guess number two is based on experience rather than a natural trait. Like from the get go an IP will assume that what they value/find logical is also values and found logical by the rest of the universe. Only when they collide with different opinions enough will they resign into that "Well I guess everyone sees the world different then." So somewhere out there should be an IP that has always been confirmed and still thinks that their values are universal.
    What do you think?

    • @JoyceMeng22
      @JoyceMeng22  Рік тому +8

      You're right, that is a really good point!
      I see making decisions based on the group average (Te, Fe) as different than viewing your beliefs as universal (Ti, Fi). So while Ti/Fi can have universally applicable beliefs, they are not scoping out the group average to arrive at that decision.

    This is true. I'm always self conscious when Im working on projects with people. I usually give such in depth critics and can see so many issues with something or how it could be better. But I'm always scared that if I just dump all of that logical thought process, I might make someone upset and take out the enjoyment from them.
    I usually find myself pairing the thoughts with a lot of apologies. 😔

    I wonder if you ever have this before pls let me know if you do so, I thought of a content suggestion.,
    A short video where it's discussing a certain cognitive function, For example, just Ni, and how it's like for it to be in the dominant, auxiliary, tertiary and then inferior,
    One cognitive functions at a video hehe
    A short one would be great enough

  • @IamZeZetheX
    @IamZeZetheX Рік тому +1

    I love this topic and discussion, but I disagree on one minor point: That ISFPs and INFPs are even less ok with ordering people around, we just need to believe in the purpose to do it. Having Te as our 4th function helps in this matter. As an educator and person who's had leadership experience, I can say that my Te has developed over the years. INTPs and ISTPs have 4th Fe, which makes them even less comfortable in these situations. Feel free to chime in if you don't agree - I could be off.

  • @annerittwage1401
    @annerittwage1401 Рік тому +2

    Oh no.. I just left a comment on the "5 signs you are not an IJ" and thought "I really do be an INFJ". Now I really relate to the INTP. Whenever I do a test I score almost 50/50 on NI/NE, FI/FE, and TI/TE. It always turns out INFJ, but often INTP will be my second result. I am more focused on other people, what they think feel and do, but I also have a hard time receiving advice (even when I've asked for it) and think about what I want. But I do ask what people want. My boyfriend often jokingly asks why I even ask him what he wants to do/thinks, if I in the end do what I want anyway.

    • @rasamasala
      @rasamasala Рік тому +2

      This is prolly my Ti speaking, but be careful with these tests cause they aren't always accurate. I dont know how much you know on the subject, but I'd recommend looking into the cognitive functions and observing how you interact with the world and yourself and slowly piecing together what type you might be.
      To help give you some clarity on Fe, Ti, and Ne/Ni, I can give you my experience as an INTP.
      I do find myself caring about the group and focusing on what other people are feeling. But mine comes from a more negative side of it. I tend to focus on the group because Im afraid of people be angry at me or if there is any discourse among the group. Dealing with the group and understanding what people are feeling and their emotional state is such a big insecurity and I never know if what I say is going to piss someone off. I actively find Fe annoying to deal with, but ultimately, I know I need it cause it usually balances me out when I make other people feel better.
      As far as criticism, I do welcome it. But my ego has to step aside if its something i believe myself to be knowledgeable in. My Ti is always working and problem solving, so a lot of the times I believe I know more than other people on a subject, so when criticisms come in, its going through a Ti radar to see if the criticisms are based and are things I haven't thought of.
      I have to actively turn it off when I receiving critiques even from my professional teachers that have years of experience. Like doesn't that sound cocky? Its the Ti Ego.
      In contrast, my sister has Ni and she has this weird sense of intuition that she cant really explain. So in an example, my cousins were trying to surprise us with a pregnancy reveal. Based on a single text that invited us to lunch, she figured out and guessed correctly that my cousin was pregnant. Where as me, I was on the fence and was more hesitant to conclude a single guess.
      My Ne usually shows up when I'm extrovertedly brainstorming ideas with my INFP friend. We usually make art and stuff together so we tend to spend hours just playing out ideas with each other and we'll end up on these far tangents with multiple threads that we can follow (which we never really do).
      Lastly, keep in mind that the functions also behave differently if they appear in a masculine or feminine state. Quick example cause this post is already long af: My Ti doesnt budge cause its masculine. So I tend to be stubborn with what I think makes sense or is the best way to do something. My mom will make eggs, but its hard for me to enjoy them because I learned how professionals make eggs. But my feminine Fe tip toes telling my mom that I dont like her eggs cause I dont wanna hurt her feelings. So I'll dodge around eating them or saying they suck. I still wont eat them though lol.
      Anyways. This was a long post, and I say all of this to say that observe which functions you tend to use first because we do use all functions, its just that our main stack are the ones that are most natural to us.

    INTP here I don’t like to lead precisely for that reason. I have no interest in controlling others and yeah it’s offensive to think about ordering people around. Like I’m imposing. I know there needs to be leaders, and I’ve done it before when needed, but I’m just not comfortable in that role. My comfort zone is the right hand person to the person in charge. I can research or gather information and they can take care of telling people what to do

    Natural talent. Or natural desire 🤔 I HATE it but unfortunately i end up auto doing it often if im … annoyed into doing things that demonstrate an ability by accident. 😂then potential benefits of accepting it can twist my arm and I end up in it. Very poor leadership that I could do something to counter or fix , may also illicit a response of potential leadership ability that gets (unfortunately lol 😂 bec I hate a managing adults but I think might be good at it ?) noticed also. For ref am unsure I’d I’m ISTP/ESTP.

    This seems to be more about telling introverts and extroverts apart. Everything you said can apply to the IxxJs as well, so it really wasn't a helpful video for someone like me. I spent so much time in an unhealthy Si Fi loop in my past that I thought I was an INFP for a while. (I'm not.)

    • @letfreedomring7330
      @letfreedomring7330 7 місяців тому +1

      @@everythingtemi130A number of things, but it's mostly about how I use my extroverted functions. I'm annoyed by chaos a lot more than having to get up and work. I'm annoyed when people don't do their jobs or work together, and go into "boss mode" ALMOST naturally, stressed or not. I have that Si pessimism, even on my best days. The biggest tell is the blind spot. Fe is the hardest function for me to use or even understand. Only on my very best days can I use it well. Most of the time I fail miserably. Se is not a function I prefer, but I can kind of use it and understand it.

    • @letfreedomring7330

      @@everythingtemi130That being said, I'm extremely introverted, even for an ISTJ, and I'm most happy just staying in my head. But I prefer organizing things over exploring ideas.
