  • The ENTJ personality type - many people seem to identify with this type code, but not all of them have the corresponding cognitive functions.
    This video discards the misleading E-N-T-J dichotomies, and focuses instead on the cognitive functions in order to give you an effective means to differentiate between an actual ENTJ, and someone who mistyped as one.

    About me:
    Hi, I'm Harry, and I'm intensely passionate about personality typing and self-development - so much so that I have created my own Jung-inspired system, taking a more high-resolution look at the factors making up personality.
    Through Cognitive Personality Theory I examine the underlying mechanisms behind cognition, and the means through which a single type can have limitless individual variation - I believe type itself is just a set of cognitive predispositions that can according to the needs of the situation be overcome.
    I don't believe any type is limited in what they can achieve, but have noticed sensationalist attitudes and internet trends propagating a culture in which type-development is actively discouraged in favour of conforming to simplistic archetypes. Through CPT I hope to dispel various myths and oversimplifications of what constitutes personality type, and along the way encourage a healthier attitude towards type that allows a person to become not who they are told they are, but rather who they want to be.

      Intj and Entj people tend to have the most understanding of each other. Entj's can also appear as social introverts when contemplating, so it makes sense to be mistyped since there will be a lot of overlap. I'd love to find some Intj friends

      This is what i do until i found my true type. (This entj) And what you feel is the same as mine back days. Finding an external solution through a problem is a sign of Te dom. This is what makes a young entj may asking everything to their parents when they want to do something / see something new. When ignored, their Ni perception later continous by observing about what other people are doing to finally solve their problem (Te-Ni) and because of it, a healthy entj can learn faster whenever they are put it into. Often causing other people to feel insecure because they are being challenged by an entj. This is why some entj are outcasters and still not finding of who they really are. They think that they are "introverted" types because they feel insecure about "why i didn't fit in even though i tried my best to, why other people are against me?"

      I'm the same way. I think of it as ambiversion. INTJ at home, and ENTJ socially, or when something calls for it. I need both social, and down time to recharge, depending on the situation. I find the balance between the two to be the biggest challenge. Establishing a large societal network is a hindrance to the INTJ side of things. I test INTJ usually, but near 51/49% introverted/ extroverted.

      I have ADHD and score pretty heavily as ENTJ. I am very methodical in my thinking and how I see the world due to my Ni and J, but I’m so disconnected from the material world, I can be quite disorganized with physical objects. I’m VERY high energy and fixate on the things that provide flow and I reject anything conventional I find no use for and unintentionally bulldoze people. I think and move fast and my ADHD gives me boundless energy for the things I work toward. Lol. I despise spontaneity though, which is where most of my J comes from.

      @@dontstalkmyaccount3096 ENTJs are often misdiagnosed as having ADHD and misdiagosed as being autistic. We are autistic by choice, not by imbalance, and our energy to tackle massive amounts of goals and projects is easily misunderstood for ADHD. But the difference between ADHD and our choice of focus, is that we actually achieve nearly any and all goals we do focus on - and this by what seems to us in hindsight as a gift or talent - one we still don't believe we have, but time and again we seem to prove ourselves wrong in that we do have it, and this gives us immense joy which we subconsciously cling to when the next goal arises. - an ENTJ that is considered ADHD by his family and friends, and autistic by himself in a desire to not truly interact with others on any social level if we can avoid it, but our goals often requiring that we do.

And I just answered: "I need them, and to get them being usefull somehow, they must like me a little. Otherwise they will just get in between"... She stared at me in complete silence, like scared... as an ENTJ this is actually a conversation i've had. including the goofy part to throw them off their emotional sleuthing when they realize our talent at empathy to get others to like us, could mask an incredible talent for what appears as an almost scary natural ability for control (but really is just us letting on that we know our strengths, but are rather benevolent in our estimation in not using them against people, and if we do, it's really for everyone's own good, even if in spite of ours, since we are driven by a deep sense of honesty to our vision). in short: ya. we know people. and learning about MBTI is right up our alley, since we have goals to accomplish that often involve them. MBTI confirms to us what we already intuitively know about others (and how wacky emotional human beings can be to the detriment of their goals).

I can say that being Entj helps me a lot in my career but it is affecting my relationships with oposite gender. I am not passive, it is hard to give up the lead. Also it is hard for me to sustain relations because I am mostly into my business and sometimes forget to care. I work on myself. I see my weekness and put reminders into calendar to reach out to other people. Being on my own is giving me comfort but I need people like we all do.

I became tunnel-visioned and hyperfocused on attaining specific outcomes in my studies that I failed to assess if I still loved my subject. Each aasignment felt more like a chore to complete, but I still bulldozed anyways because I was still "getting things done". I was more afraid of feeling less accomplished than anything else. I just want to mention that ENTJs (when they want to) can understand emotions also in an objective Te manner. Because of this, I've seen ExTJs who are very adept in the Fe realm after recognizing the objective signs of a specific emotion or mood. Ex. "Ah, this person is looking down and speaking in a shaky manner. This person must be sad."
    I think this must be because of the Fe dipping, and are more prepared in those situations because they have created a system for it.
    When typing people irl, I ask Te doms if they have a hard time with emotions of others and they actually think they understand it and are comfortable with its presence.
    Which is why them understanding beauty, feelings, social norms, and other stereotypically Fe correlated things is very certainly possible. It depends on the person though, so it's more of an interest to them and if it's useful for them to understand.
    If you are an ENTJ or a Te dom in general, or know one, I'd like to know your opinion on this. :D

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +7

      There is a lot of variability here to be honest, but a good chunk of ENTJs I meet tend to have an excellent Fe dip and ample Fi convergent relation which makes for a very socially well-rounded human being! There is a good reason ENTJs can have a comparable social intelligence to Fe dominants, and I'd always recommend Te dominants to continue training this more volitional side to their cognition :)

      Yeah, as an ENTJ I think I’m alright at recognizing emotions. However, I often do not act on them nor choose to act in the best way to recognize others’ emotions as I simply often do not recognize the value in it nor prioritize it. However, in the times I do (such as when somebody close to me is sad and requires comfort), I’m often hailed as easily giving the individual what they need emotionally.

      I’ve wondered if I am ENTJ. (Prior to that, INTJ) While I tend to approach a lot of things in a pragmatic sort of way, and seek to find solutions and make things work, I can read people or situations really well. I can intuit when someone is going through something. I can actually understand others’ emotions very well, and I have relational empathy. However, it is more obvious that I understand and process the emotional landscape through a thinking lens. In the context of dipping into Fe, I have a good grasp of navigating social dynamics and relating to people, but it isn’t a default function. My father is ENFJ and it’s pretty obvious when he engages social environments and navigates these spaces. Fe is more of a constant and it is exercised for its own sake vs. my awareness or use having a function or purpose and used in, I suppose, a Te manner.
      Also, as I’ve explained elsewhere, if I see the value of something, like, say, emotional intelligence, I have a better awareness and practical usage of Fe, as a dip function, because I integrate it as a personal value, and it can be supported by Te-Se (its usefulness in interpersonal dynamics and the data that backs it up). Having been raised by an ENFJ (and INFP), I learned to pick up and adopt certain behaviors and traits, and I’ve exercised and practiced them.
      They’re not a default, which is obvious when I engage with my environment and people, but they definitely play a major role in my social dynamics and behaviors. I have a gaggle of kids, and emotional intelligence and healthy interpersonal dynamics play a significant role in the environment I’ve worked to build, because it is necessary and useful. It should serve as the foundation for all interpersonal dynamics, and high Te users can employ this in useful and meaningful ways, though I’m sure it takes a certain level of awareness and desire to see the value of it. (When many NTs or STs may regard it as useless because “feelers” are too “feel-y.”)

    • @queenqanna9938
      @queenqanna9938 2 роки тому +2

      @@AeonaLux depending on the experience and values of a thinker, they may value the weaving of social situation or consider it useless. Stereotypically, most of them are in the latter. But to people who genuinely study social behavior and things of the "Fe" realm, they can become amazing at the calculation in it. And it's not strictly to ENTJs either. My mother is an INTJ and she deals with people on the daily, so her actions and weaving through conversations are very fluid. My INTJ friend is born an empath so she had to deal with people regardless of MBTI type and is better at navigating people and emotions waaaaay more than I am (INFJ).
      INTJs typically (when understanding the social environment) like to observe it a lot more than take action upon it, especially if they're gathering research. They see what happens and gather the info objectively making sure to do something that prevents of reinforces a specific behavior. If they have to take action on it, they have a solidified system they can absolutely rely on before doing so.
      ENTJs gather info related to the social environment as well, but typically are very action oriented compared to the INTJ. When weaving through the social environment, they put their foot down in a manner that relates to the Ni goal they have in mind. They're also less tolerant for bullshit, as an INTJ may notice it but (depending on the situation) not say anything, even when they are tempted to do so. But an ENTJ will absolutely may say their 2 cents.
      I hope this helps with your self-discovery journey!! :D

      This is how my Te-Se/Fi-Ni manifests. I enjoy the process of deconstructing information, integrating the components into my mental framework, and rebuilding it with known information and disseminating it. I enjoy the process of sharing information, and debating, and this is what I’m really good at. I knew over a decade ago that I wanted to teach at the higher-ed level. I thrive in this environment. Likewise, my divergent stack developed at the same time as my convergent stack, so I never relate to the standard archetype and the whole concept of Fi being “inferior” and thus prone to chaotic outbursts and unchecked emotional states. I inhabit both stacks with relative ease. Neither feel foreign or uncomfortable, and this is likely due to both being used and developed at the same time. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and imparting information across many different areas that I’m passionate about or have extensive knowledge in.
      I do enjoy learning for the sake of learning, but it also has to have an overall purpose, whether it’s for myself or the “tribe,” so to speak. It strive to find actionable solutions, and that means diving head first into areas of study and sharing that information. I can be quite methodical and relentless, but there’s also a purpose behind it. I most definitely do not fit the “boardroom executive” or “commander” type. I’m an academic, and in many ways, deeply creative and intuitive and I seek a holistic sense of self and identity in everything I pursue.

I started to wonder if that was truly the case, and I always saw myself as an introvert, at least socially or behaviorally. But as I started digging further into the cognitive patterns and how they express and manifest, I suspected that I may actually lead with Te, or Te-Se pairing and Ni-Fi feeds and steers it, and keeps it grounded with the vision or plan that needs to be executed. The Ni insights and connections seem to bubble up to the surface or “drop in” vs. operating in the background and near-constant engagement. So from all the comments I have seen on the many subreddits I have shared your video's on, I have seen two major feedbacks:
    1. The use of heavy language. A lot of people can't understand the vocabulary and the terminology used in your video's. Since I can only send them one video at a time without them getting annoyed, they didn't bother to look at your videos explaining the terminology. Maybe it is a good idea to use simple language that a broader audience can understand and to explain the terminology briefly in your video's where you use CPT terms a lot.
    2. The duration of the video's. People say they don't have enough time or concentration to watch the video's. A few of them said that they could only watch 7 minutes before they lost their concentration. So maybe it would be an idea to decrease the duration of your video's and increase the quantity of them. One person even said that they would watch the longer video if it had an entertaining nature. I don't know how you could make your educational video's more entertaining but maybe you could do something about your tonality and your editing.
    This is all feedback that I gathered for the potential benefit of your video's because I want your channel to grow and succeed. However this is your channel and you decide what to do and what not to do. It's all up to you
    If you don't see this comment... you don't see it but if you do and are too busy to reply, I might send this and my other comment again on your new video.

    Years ago I took the MBTI test and came out INTP. I took it a few years ago and came out INTJ. I didn't put that much thought into it since because most of it sort of fit. I can say that some of the other videos on this subject never quite fit exactly. It was really stunning to watch this video and within the first 10 minutes I could tell that he was talking about me in such detail and with such accuracy. I had a bit of a difficult time with the accent and some of the echoes in a few of the first videos from him that I watched but this video was much clearer but I still had to keep rewinding because I really wanted to see if something didn't fit. I was so shocked at the details fitting I made sure not to misunderstand each of the points just to see if he could maintain it. In my other experiences there was always something that didn't fit and it was usually one of the stereotypical descriptions.
    The silly stereotypes and horoscopes and inaccuracy of the tests were something that made me wish someone could come up with a better system as I could see validity and truth in it if it weren't for the holes all over the theories or tests. I had joined multiple forums and the immaturity and foolishness in regards to MBTI and the stereotyping was something I really couldn't tolerate and that didn't last.
    I'm going to recommend this channel and share the relevant videos to anyone that I know has interest in this.
    I rarely even to subscribe to channels but I subscribed to this one and I'm sharing it because I think this man deserves to have other people check out his system so that they can find out who they actually are, and so that his videos get moved higher up in priority in terms of MBTI and the population as a whole can benefit from the accuracy.
    I would love to know if he came up with this particular theory on his own including the convergent and divergent orientations which do seem to fit or if it was documented somewhere else already.
    Thank you very much for educating everybody properly and for making this extremely concise video. I will at some point finish checking out the other content.
    I think this is the closest to what I would consider an extension of a Carl Jung was doing as it is within the spirit of his theories as well as having the accuracy of the original psychological types book.

    I struggled for years to figure out my type, but I finally settled on ENTJ early this year, and I wanted to watch your video to see whether it supported or contradicted my conclusion about my type. I ended up agreeing with most of what you said, except I'm having trouble reconciling some aspects of it. You mentioned that ENTJs tend to not like multitasking or having experiences given to them by others (you worded this differently, but I believe you emphasized that ENTJs prefer to be more deliberate with their Se and create experiences for themselves). However, due to the nature of my work (being a PhD student) I find that I have to constantly multitask since I have to do a billion jobs and tasks at the same time throughout the PhD program--often for financial and networking reasons--and I constantly have to prioritize getting certain tasks done over others; however, I can't say I dislike having to do a bunch of tasks rather than one larger one. While I have one larger goal, which is to finish the PhD, the main longer term project (the dissertation itself) is often the part that I get the most bored with and struggle to consistently focus on because of all of the other tasks/jobs, which I actually prefer because I don't have to think nearly as hard about getting them done and get the satisfaction of getting them done much more quickly as well as getting financially compensated for doing them. I generally get bored if I have to do the same task every day and for a long time period rather than doing a bunch of smaller, diverse tasks that I can get done more quickly. Even before the PhD, I preferred having multiple part time jobs and flexible hours rather than one full time job because I couldn't stand the repetitiveness and stagnation of the full time job (the one I had was clerical, and I definitely need a job where I can do much more thinking and feel like things are constantly changing rather than just doing administrative tasks all day).
    For the second point about being more deliberate about crafting our Se experiences, I do enjoy doing that if I have extra time, but I also equally enjoy delegating the planning or delivery of these experiences to other people so that I don't have to do the work because I can't be bothered with figuring out the intricate details of the planning and have bigger priorities (such as my own work) that I prefer to focus on. For example, I prefer when other people plan and throw parties, my wedding and events leading up to it, vacations, etc. even though I still like to have input. I often find that I have to modify some of these plans, such as vacations, even after someone else had planned them because the planning doesn't live up to my standards, but even then I enjoy the elements of spontaneity that arise from the remixing of these plans (I have no idea if that makes any sense).
    Apologies for the length of this ramble, but I'd be curious to know if anyone has any thoughts on this. Also, I noticed a comment that mentioned what if an ENTJ has ADHD, and I've often wondered whether I have it even though I don't want to go through the trouble of getting an actual diagnosis. I don't know if that potentially has some influence over my preference for multitasking, for example. I know other ENTJs who were actually diagnosed with ADHD and they struggled with working full time jobs until they went on medication to treat it. Food for thought!

    I listened to a vid last night that cited the CIA as a source of information, specifically how they handle the MBTI, which helped me immensely. CIA wants to know what employees there of will be when things fall apart not in day to day life. So, they test them under stress and assess their MBTI type in stress. The idea being- just like i'd been thinking- you answer not what you have usually been in life, but what you are feeling, thinking like right NOW and then look at the polar opposite of that type to find out what you are in day to day life.
    According to the test I took today, I am ISFP under all the stress that led up to today. Which, the polar opposite of is ENTJ. Last night I also learned Marc Bolan is allegedly ENTJ. As a probable ENTJ, I think true Fe is and remains a demon-function. There are however circumstances that make me appear a lot more Fe to others. From my inner perspective the reasons for this appear to be twofold. On the one hand I can quickly create genuin connections with a mix of playful Se, demonstrative Ne (to lighten up the mood) and the depth and authenticity of Fi for a more developed ENTJ. On the other hand well developed Ni is aware of the Te-counterproductiveness when ignoring the feelings of others (which less developed Ni unfortunately isn't). Hey Harry, I'm currently on reddit trying to advertise your channel and explain the theory to the mbti community. I was explaining how the cognitive functions (the lens and codec functions) are connected to each other and that extroverted functions are connected to extroverted ones and that the same goes for introverted functions. The people can't seem to understand that introverted and extroverted functions can't connect. How do I explain this to them?

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +6

      I appreciate the efforts! It's a semantic thing in many ways, as technically Ne and Ti are certainly *used* with each other, but in tandem rather than unison.
      So if someone says Ti stores and refines Ne information this isn't strictly incorrect. But the kind of Ne information hasn't been specified. If it were just Ne alone it would just be raw data.
      The reason Ne needs an adjoining codec is to form the associations it is known for, just as Se does for object recognition and salience. A person could argue these associations are formed by Ti, but that would contradict the external association forming of Ne, and again doesn't specify the scope of Ti - is this concrete or abstract internal processing upon the established abstract perception?
      Lens-codec relationships give internal processing information to work with, and specify the nature of information perceived (be it Fe or Te here).
      But if you want to be especially persuasive just refer people to Jung's irrational and rational functions. An irrational function doesn't assign information - if you don't assign information you cannot draw associations. It follows that two extraverted functions work together in order to acquire both perception and rationality, the sum total of which is known as experience.
      It also just makes no sense to me for functions supposed to assist each other facing opposing directions. If you factor in the greater amount of function differentiation we acquire by recognising the difference between Ne-Te and Ne-Fe (before we even factor in the attitudes and dormant states) I think we have a good case - albeit a complex one!

    • @aknkna7246
      @aknkna7246 2 роки тому +3

      @@CognitivePersonalityTheory I have explained the rational and irrational functions with the terms perceiving and judging. The way I tried to explain it was by saying that you need to store the external information in your head before you can process it internally since thinking is an internal act and needs to reach data from within in order to work.
      What you are saying is very interesting though. The Ne data by itself doesn't say anything about the kind of information it is perceiving (subjective(Fe) or objective(Te) information).
      I guess people are too used to the ideas that have been fed to them by other systems and have a difficult time changing their point of view. I will try to add the things you have said and hopefully they will understand. Thanks!

    I'm curious, what an "extraverted" INTP would be like? I mean if extraverted types can appear as introverts socially, some introverts are somehow socially extraverted. A lot of INFJs, ISTJs, ISFPs and ISFJs are like this. Also i known one "extraverted" INFP, and this type is quite close to INTPs. Ti can be expressed in a more outward manner, and while it's more applied to ENTPs, i believe INTPs with their creative Ti can also do it, in a different way. Also maybe this hypothetical INTP is comfortable using Fe more outwardly. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this question🤔🤔🤔

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory

      There are a few ways for an introvert to be more extraverted. Some INTPs enjoy a more fluid dominant axis so can present an ESFJ modality easier, but will still tend to have a level of social bi-polarity. Others are more ambiverted into ENTJ and as such are more externally interactive in their Ti frameworking. Others are more divergent subtype and tend to enjoy extended time around others by offsetting Ti-Si intensity.
      That being said, introverts as a whole can appear more extraverted online and vice versa :)

      An INTP who is socially extroverted would be more fluid with their Fe, and enjoying the presence of people they enjoy the presence of. They can appear energetic and outgoing, and need to hang with the people closest to them, but still need that time alone to process their Ne concepts through Ti-Si.
      INTPs are also Fe mirrors in a sense, so if they're around people who are extremely socially extroverted they can also present themselves as extremely socially extroverted, but it cannot be done for long and can only last for short bursts.
      INTPs with strong Ne also need an idea to contemplate over making them appear easily excitable or energetic when presented with a hypothetical concept Ti can ruminate on.

      There would usually still ensue a degree of external interactivity beyond simply absorbing information.
      It is possible for an extravert to consume all day long in a passive manner (this would usually coincide with a divergent subtype) but there would still be a compulsion to act (in such circumstances there would usually be no opportunity to *be* extraverted).

      It's best to go through each function and ask the person questions related to action and observation therein. Gauge whether Fi is more tolerant or intolerant, for example; whether Ti is more opinionated or cautious; whether Se controls tangible experience or abides by it. I might make a typing video sometime!

    Hi, what are your academic credentials Cognitive Personality Theory?

  • @novaimperialis
    @novaimperialis 2 роки тому +3

    Yay! Harry loves me! He proved me that I'm not an ENTJ.
    I observed the following:
    Te-Se convergence: I have difficulties in focusing on a single thing. I always question things and want to know the whole thing before acting. So I don't fit the criteria.
    Fe-Ne dip: My ENTJ friend made his university basically a police institution where he garnered a lot of power to implement decisions in it, and he made people to follow him.
    I struggle to make anyone to follow me. I can only present and hope for cooperation because of reason, while he can just impose himself on others.
    Ti-Si convergence: I have difficulties in taking a thing as a whole. I intake a lot of observations or facts from the world and I try to put them together to see what they mean. Reality doesn't mean as much to me as long as I don't have the facts that talks about it to then integrate them in a framework. So I would say that I do more Te/Ti like an INTP than Ti/Te of an ENTJ.
    My ENTJ friend takes the facts at face value without looking at the contradictions.
    I take the facts but I always look at the contradictions and I'm careful to not register invalid facts that could lead to a flawed framework.
    Ni-Fi divergence: I have difficulties in acting on my vision. It's more like an ever expanding vision. My vision is always adapting. I'm not set on one value or one thing to do as I'm always open for feedback as I think that may be inccorect and I'm prepared to correct my course if I'm given constructive criticism.
    I have my ENTJ friend and he's really entrenched in his vision and he doesn't question it at all. He's serious when he says anything, but I only joke on being authoritarian. However, his understanding is more congruent with a rigid totalitarian framework than mine.
    For instance, I told him about how a Thailand general have taken the power and he made it into a dictatorial state, and he replied with is based af. I, on the other hand, I replied with is anti constituional af.
    Not only that. All the things and discoveries that I make about the human condition, reality, perception, my general philosophy, he already thinks how he can implement it in the here and now but in an even more sinister and totalitarian manner.
    My way of approach is more subversive in nature than his, he's more direct.
    As such, this could present the difference between Ni-Fi divergent and Ni-Fi convergent in me which is more easy going.
    I have also seen that I'm authoritarian only in thinking, especially in my unhealthy state, but in action I'm not able to do anything by giving ordinances. It's more of I do something and because it is consistent, then I reason my way through, and I hope that others would follow as well.
    Also, my point of reasoning was always in relation to show the value. I try to show the legitimacy of components. In this way, I identify with everything as I see them as being valid by my framework. Thus, I'm unable to be impulsive. I struggled with imposing myself on others because I valued their freedom.
    I remember that when I was in middle school, I would get beat up by others, and when I will go to the teacher to tell what is happening, I will stop doing that because I wouldn't want them to suffer any consequences. However, because they will still continue with this, I would still go to the teacher.
    In high school, If I would be taken advantage of, I would have a very intellectuallistic way of demeaning my adversaries, but I wouldn't lift a finger against them.
    Is it possible that an INTJ relies more on his Te-Se authority when he's in an unhealthy state in order to defend the inner Ni-Fi vision? So that I use a detached and intellectual approach to defend my values and inner sanctum?
    Also, when I'm in a good state, I'm pretty open. However, my ENTJ friend is still closed even when he's in a good mood. This is another difference between Ni-Fi convergence openess and self transformation and Ni-Fi divergence rigidity.
    Also, another point is that I know exactly why I feel something. I don't know always what I feel, but I know what's the cause for feeling that, which would show that I have pretty good control of a convergent Ni-Fi rather than a divergent Ni-Fi.
    I also like, especially with my ENTP friend in particular and INTPs in general, to be challanged. But not in the sense of being better at accomplishing a task or something like that. But in probing my framework so that I can get new perspectives and be able to revise it.
    Even in comparison with my ENTJ friend, I always feel inferior somehow or less volatile and present than him. With him, I became more sensitive than with others because his Te domminant intimidates me and I let down my Te authority barrier, and I just let my scatter brained Ni domminant perspectives seeking, to take over and to be more philosophical in a feeling sense. It's also because I know that I can't beat his Te dom. So I rely on what I have and he doesn't have, my more introspective and inquisitive and sensitive nature.
    Its weird!
    Also, I have seen that ENTJ philosophy is more feeling in nature that is taken as a fact, it doesn't have that much of a systematic way of organizing those things so that it can have consistency, like I try in my philosophy. The ENTJ philosophy is more ideological, whereas for me is more analytical.
    What do you think Harry?

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +1

      Cool! Might be worth dismissing ENTJ for now then and looking back into Ni convergent types. An ENTJ would have to have a divergent subtype and a more isolated existence to report a lot of this.

    • @novaimperialis
      @novaimperialis 2 роки тому

      @@CognitivePersonalityTheory Thanks, Harry, for taking the time to reconsider this.
      Now that I think about. A good example of an ENTJ is Christopher Hitchens.
      He is so direct that it hurts my brain. He makes so bold and fiery assumptions that it gives me headaches only in thinking about how those assumptions can be further dissected. Those seem to came from a very unconscious Fi oppositional.
      He gets straight to the matter of a thing.
      I do this as well but only when I first tackle the problem and make sure that there's no other way around, by addressing every single possibility.
      This is why I better get along with INTPs than ENTJs. Because we both question things and we have a strong filter for information.
      Actually, when I'm put in a position of confrontation, I have to detach myself completely and adress only the problem and the objective component, as otherwise, I get avoidant and I start to not think that well or I get dizzy. I'm not able to be impulsive or act as long as my reasons are not thorough. Thus, I'm more icy than fiery.
      I can be confrontational only if I'm being calm and state only the problem and the points that addresses it, much so like an INTP. However, when I addressed those points, only then I permit myself to make a value judgment and present a position for or against it.
      An ENTJ can beat directly the horse.
      I can't beat the horse directly, but I can beat the saddle, and hope that the horse understands.

    so, I was wondering which parts of this personality are responsible for the stereotype of being the commander? ENTJ's are often described and portrayed as these forceful, fierce, no-nonsense allowing type of highly efficient go-getters. Is this then completely wrong? I understand that this is only part of the whole picture, but other than the short mention of tenacity I got the impression that this wasn't actually part of how you would describe them.

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +13

      Hi! The Fi-Ni divergence certainly can give to that but the majority of ENTJs I come across are people more than unstoppable machines. They definitely tend to be relentless and efficient, but won't always value fame, riches and power sufficiently to embody such a stereotype. They like what they like and pursue those interests with passion :)

    • @MysticaAriYena
      @MysticaAriYena 2 роки тому

      @@CognitivePersonalityTheory Ah, I see where my confusion comes from then. My interpretation of the stereotype is more that of a military commander, rather than someone in the pursuit of fame, fortune or power. I guess the relentlessness in combination with high efficiency feeds the stereotype and as always, what you see is not all you get. Thanks for the clarification. :)

      Im finding that exploring my introverted side that I had to deal with for many years as my career has been a isolated one. I am becoming more aware that I am just as fierce as I am not fierce and this is something Im finding about more and more things. This is allowing me to prefer pointless and funny discussions with people because it seems to open the mind in a way that allows creativity and positivity. I used to hide away from the world because I was scared I would influence people in a bad way or make their life worse and I still do a little but its getting better coming out of my shell and doing what I do best which is bringing out the best in people not from telling them anything but accepting their true self as a beautiful and an interesting person because we all are and I love hearing people tell me about the things they love and have passions for.
      Have a lovely day.

    • @aknkna7246
      @aknkna7246 2 роки тому +1

      I've heard in one of Harry's videos that ENTPs pursue the art of humor. So that would mean they enjoy humor. I'm guessing that that is because they like to make people laugh since it makes for a desirable social atmosphere. The need for predictability of the emotions of other people (Ne-Fe) makes them want to predict what would make people laugh so they search for good humor. I think the Ne-Fe pairing is a pairing that could be associated with humor.
      But again this is all my take on the subject I don't know if this is true.

    You mentioned that an INFP in the grip might be overly focused on what could go wrong, but how would unhealthy inferior Te differ from Ne in the same position (since inferior Ne is what's usually associated with being too concerned with the negative potential and planning against what could happen)?

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +3

      There is some overlap for here for sure, but an INFP would tend to account for all possibilities (Ne authority) whereas an ISTJ would tend to eliminate them (Te authority)

    • @CognitivePersonalityTheory
      @CognitivePersonalityTheory  2 роки тому +1

      @@psychoanalystguy2208 It's more about the emphases here; the ISTJ would very much account for the possibilities but would tend to use Te so as to a) ensure they serve a determined agenda and b) limit the emergence of future possibilities based upon those which have just been accounted for. The INFP tends to be the inverse of this, with Ne emphasised to expand rather than contract upon these possibilities.
      Generally oppositional Ne is more aversive in this sense!
