    Harry, great video as always! I've been waiting for this for a long time, I can finally confirm that I am an ISTP after months of intense introspection.
    Being an ISTP is hard and easy at the same time. I love and hate my hollistic view of things. I can be creative and smart, but also too stubborn to pay attention to details (specially if it is specific data, like statistics or even rulesets) and I always want to do everything my own way. I draw conclusions quickly and logically, sometimes I'm right, but sometimes I'm wrong, really wrong. I do get really cocky in my decision taking sometimes.
    I think there is a lot of us that mistype as ENTP (I started my MBTI journey as a mistyped ENTP) and ESTP, specially because of the FE flip which causes us to be charismatic for short and intense bursts of time. I always found it weird and annoying that I could be in a social scenario having a great time and suddenly just feel tired and anxious, wanting to just leave. I feel like this happens beacause we get carried away too much in the heat of the moment, taking things like jokes or even debates too far, being blunt, annoying and maybe even rude, but at the same time caring too much about other's feelings and opinions (I am actually hypersensitive to this), we just don't foresee at the monent that we can hurt people. Once I feel like socializing again, the cycle repeats lol.
    I've always been the social archetype of the class clown (thanks to my constant FE flips and Ti-Ni forming witty silly jokes), which I use to evade actual conversations with people I don't feel comfortable with, but become much more insightful and opinionated with those that I think are my close friends. Even then, I mostly prefer to be by my own to let my ideas be realized in peace or to learn skillsets (In absence of people is when my innovating mind surges, making me feel ambitious but also at peace, weirdly enough).
    I am smart, skilled, funny and empathic. But I can also be dumb, rebellious, annoying and rude. Always caring for others and being sensitive, but not knowing how to behave.
    Such is life, I guess.

      @@Skorpioome too as a divergent ENFJ. My social battery gets drained very quickly. I'd much prefer to be left to my own devices and concentrate on innovating via TiNi convergence in my own mind. I do have the ENFJ trait though of wanting to put these insights out to help/educate other people. Needless to say given the controversy of a lot of 'topics' I cover, these don't always go down too well but it's never meant in a way as to offend people (although I can if I'm being an utter b*tch). Anyway, this is a type I feel a lot of affinity with & a lot of admiration for. My best friend way back in the day was an ISTP & we had enough differences & similarities to make a great dynamic duo...it's a shame due to life circumstances that we drifted apart.

    Haha I can definitely relate to TiNi‘s more holistic or even metaphoric thinking.
    Yesterday we were discussing postmodern culture with my friends and the discussion somehow came to Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate.
    One of my friends said that “philosophers” like Joe Rogan are so desperately trying to open up people’s minds and educate them.
    When I heard this I basically responded “well, calling Joe Rogan a philosopher is like calling Elisabeth Holmes a scientist”:D
    I can definitely see why so many of us mistype as ENTP because we can often relate to the quick-witted stereotype:)

    I remember in high school, even though I was considered very smart in any subject, it was difficult for me to express my thinking in detail and explain how I came up with the correct solution. This changed after university and having read tons of books, but even now in my early 30's I'm usually precise and explain things in detail, but sometimes it's hard to explain my thought process. Furthermore I had the tendency to jump into (correct) logical conclusions faster than I do now. Could this be an example of a TiNi thought process which changed over time due to external factors?

    • @AnyaAnnika67
      @AnyaAnnika67 Рік тому +3

      Yes you could have just developed Ti-Si; I know some ISTPs who are indeed more logically sequential than others & detail orientated despite their natural predisposition being towards holisticism. I'm a divergent TiNi ENFJ myself but I still have a heavy SiTi network but it takes me awhile to thoroughly explain my reasoning (a lot of rewriting etc).

  • @BigDGolf-23

    Your insights resonate in me with a strong clarity, specifically with my ability to master the use of the external crafts.
    Allow me to extend the understanding of the ISTP, I can as much use a hand tool to the same degree is i can use a "crew" of
    workers, as I can a vehicle to accomplish goals. I don't like using people to do things for me, but i find paying a 10-year expert is a "free Class" to always perform the concept, catch a fish for a man and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life." I can learn things this easily by watching someone else do it. In my opinion after much study, nothing is special about me at all, the best thing I can do is do things for other people. Doing things only for myself has gotten really mundane.

    Yey finally ISTP! As an Infp, i usually vibe quite weill with Istps and we understand each other. It's kind of like my "little brother" type lol. This video was basically everything i thought about the type, given my CPT knowledge by so far. 🤍
    I have a question, i hope one day you can do some comparison videos again? Such as ESFJ vs ENTP video. Also ESFP vs ESTP would be appreciated! While these two types are very different in many ways, i think people often find it hard to tell these two apart. As you know due to stereotypes, people might confuse i.e ESTPs Se-Fe with ESFPs supposed "SeFi" and vice versa - ESFPs Se-Te with ESTPs "SeTi"... in general i think the community would benefit from a learning more about Se convergents and how to distinguish them. That being said, i understand that it's a big task lol. Thank you as always ~

    • @AnyaAnnika67
      @AnyaAnnika67 Рік тому +1

      Ironically or perhaps not, my fiancé is an ESFP and we have an ESTP son. You're right the types are often confused I think on a surface level as the Se-Te convergent pairing of the ESFP isn't given enough credence but their Fi tends to be blindly obvious. I find that the Fi & Ti authority REALLY clash. I guess it's when we get into the nuance that we really start to discern the differences. I generally find ESTPs a lot more easy going & similar to ENTPs than ESFPs (of course that's my subjective opinion). Perhaps Im biased but as a divergent ENFJ I find ESTPs easier to live with on a day to day basis as I understand his convergent SeFe; he can come off as being deliberately logically pedantic & questioning of values to his father. Meanwhile I feel like piggy in the middle lol.

    • @phoenixxsoul
      @phoenixxsoul Рік тому

      @@AnyaAnnika67 I can imagine that :)
      I think i usually don't have a problem telling the two apart, at least when i observe the people over some time. But for the people who are discerning between the types based on stereotypes etc, i think it can be difficult. There are for example, many celebrities who i think are clearly ESTP or ENFJ who are voted as i.e ESFP on PD app (the bias towards Fi/Te axis also plays a part). I can totally see how Ti authority would clash with Fi authority, as from my observation (could be wrong) ESTPs tend to be more logically cautious in general, due to their Ti-Ni counstanly calculating inside their head. Also my dad is an ESFP so i know how individualistic they can be. It also doesn't help that ESTPs Ti or Fe isn't displayed in a way people usually think of.
      Anyways, sorry for writing an essay lol, thank you for sharing your thoughts!

    Hello Harry, I like your explanation in your video. And I am sorry, if my question is outside of the topic in this video. I have been watched your video, to decide your type by Dominant Function. I really can not understand about Ni-Fi dominant (INTJ). What is the meaning of "your internal dialog is calaeidoscopic"? (I'm sorry if i'm wrong). Is it mean, that you have very colorful or randomly imagination in your mind? And, also, you said in commentar, that, to know it, just find that the one who fix or enjoy to use (Im sorry again if Im wrong). What do you mean by that? Not all people can look to theirself well. I'd say TiNi types are more innovative whereas NiTi types are conceptualises; there's a kind of subtle nuance I notice between what Harry does & what I do as a divergent ENFJ (I lean into the divergent pairing thus rendering TiNi more convergent). Worth noting that the INFJ is an SeFe divergent type not FeSe like the ISTP so for the ISTP Se acts at the behest of an Fe agenda.

I hate to put a negative spin on the ISTP as the vast majority I know are very kind individuals but how would you hypothesise an unhealthy ISTP with a very sensitive FeSe- to behave? Of course behaviour & cognition are only loosely correlated but a window into such a persons psyche would be illuminating. I had the unfortunate experience of being stalked by one for over a year; all bravado that he was in control but I sensed a very lonely person with a very fragile ego underneath the lone wolf persona. Of course I don't want to detract from the awesome cognition of those of a more healthy disposition. I indeed related to some of this as a divergent ENFJ (re TiNi convergence). Hi Emma, you might remember me from the Facebook group. As an ISTP, I sense my Fe as more sensitive the more I am uncomfortable in a social environment and while I try to keep on that TeNe nonchalant mask what I truly want to do is to literally run away from that situation or to make myself completely invisible so that people don’t see trough my sensitivity. I don’t think an ISTP would stalk someone out of Fe sensitivity. Why would I relentlessly keep on trying to create such high level Fese experiences for myself during the time of a year if Fe sensitivity doesn’t even let me have the necessary confidence and courage to befriend people normally ? Your ISTP stalker isn’t Fe sensitive. It might very well be the contrary as he is most probably an Fe comfortable divergent subtype. That would also entail high Te expression and by natural consequence means a detrimental lack of Fi development which has led him to shamelessly stalk you and probably to idolize you to make up for it.

      Ps I do think there's some correlation with Ni and autism and Si with autism albeit opposite ends of the spectrum; it just shows what a heterogeneous 'condition' it is. Also re adhd my son is an ESTP & also on the adhd pathway; I think the proclivity to constantly being in the moment & adjunctive hyperfocus re Se can indeed predispose someone to displaying adhd like 'symptoms'. It's curious as to whether they are synonymous or not - ie whether there's a cultural component going on here.

    Hey Harry I have a question, following these videos, are we supposed to cross over every sign that you counted to properly identify with a type - or is it possible for us to still relate to one or two signs showing 'we are not' and identify with that type in your opinion?
    I know you frequently mention 'you are unlikely' which indicates flexibility but I wanted to hear what you think in terms of having crossovers in terms of self-relating between some things that you said in multiple types

      It's all about which type ticks the most boxes. Some types are more similar than others so you can relate to more than one type and of course, there's also the possibility of being an ambiverted type.

    Intuition is broad perception? Wisdom is typically associated with habitual awareness of the big picture, does that mean dominant introverted intuitive pairings are wiser?
    I enjoy reverse-engineering my broad statements and listening to the myriad of ideas people have of me. I don't think I'm hypersensitive, but I am sensitive, in fact. When I watch socially dynamic content, such as anime, my emotions go up and down so hard it's draining, and I prefer to detach.
    I wonder what type do you think diogenes is?

    • @Caleb-zl4wk
      @Caleb-zl4wk Рік тому +1

      Don't let me speak for Harry, here, but it's my understanding that yes, introverted intuition dominant types are often considered to come off wise.
      Infjs have Ni connected to the auxiliary convergent Ti, meaning they (like the ISTP) are going to be more directly aware of objective, broad patterns, whereas Intjs are going to be more inclined towards a fluent understanding of the broad patterns that make themselves up; their goals and emotions and values.
      It is however worth noting that wisdom can also be colloquially understood and associated with Enxjs, whose Ni falls in their divergent auxiliary, meaning they're going to be more cautious and reserved owing to the connections they draw.

      When you internalize that Intuition is a broad perception, and Sensing is a narrow perception. The more sense it makes. Intuition is considering multiple datum at once, to the point where it loses depth and precision, becoming more vague and abstract as a result. And of course, Sensing is the complete opposite of this.

      @@sugarcravings1797 I'm sure there's plenty of ENJs that become the wise sages as they become. Sure more Se-heavy ENJs may not come across as that. But I'm sure any type can, without honing onto any stereotypes. Life is full of surprises they say.

    • @Caleb-zl4wk
      @Caleb-zl4wk Рік тому +1

      @sugarcravings1797 I'm not trying to say that they would come off wise, per se, but they would have the virtue that would culturally be called wisdom. They have the ability to detect potential connections and similarities between various pieces of information, even if they might seem at first entirely unrelated, and if one of those things could be dangerous they will consider what it could say about the other. This would impact their decision-making process, and lend to them an aura of generally seeming to know where & where not to go with things.
