I'm planning to make sautéed shrimp w spaghetti. I have a bag of Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp. Do they need to be brined before cooking? If so, what's the brine recipe?
Shrimp smell and ammonia smell too similar to me (i doubt myself more than anything)…. What are the odds of getting bad frozen shrimp in your genuine opinion. I understand this can vary and promise not to hold you to your response. Matter of of fact I’ll throw you a sub as you appear to respond to nearly if not all comments. My shrimp in question is frozen, wild caught, only sodium ingredients sold under the label of “ocean Bonnie” from Lowe’s foods
Everything sounds good about the shrimp except I don't know the country of origin from that brand. I only buy American caught shrimp, because I know the standards are good, but in particular I look for Gulf caught shrimp, because I know more about the shrimping industry down here. Other than shrimp boils, I really use frozen shrimp for all my Cajun recipes nowadays.
I saw another video saying to look for the ingredients to say only shrimp but in your video you say to look for sodium as an ingredient. I know this videos kinda old but wondering if you’d know why they’d say one thing and you the other
Like one month I wouldn't be to worried about, but anything beyond that maybe. Those shrimp are flash frozen on the boat, so they are about as fresh as they come
Great advice, thanks very much.
You bet!
thank you for the lesson

I am glad you liked it!
Can’t get fresh shrimp here where I live. Grocery store shrimp even in the showcase is previously frozen
Yes it is

Nope, no need to brine. Just thaw, pat dry, and sauté. I like to sauté in butter and garlic
Just got some frozen gulf shrimp. Hope it's good!
I am sure it will be! Let me know!
We sell fresh shrimp from Mobile Bay, over night fresh. Never frozen. Mobile Bay shrimp taste the best, sweet flavor so good .
That’s good to hear. We hardly ever see bay shrimpers anymore over here in Pensacola
You’re right about Gulf shrimp. It’s the best, imo. 🍤😊
yes!!
all i sell is frozen shrimp. happy shopping.
Even though I live here on the Gulf Coast, I mostly use smaller, frozen shrimp for my recipes now,
Thanks for the info

@@mealsunderpressure thanks for the response and information. I look forward to getting to know your channel more as a sub.
How do you defrost them? I made some frozen fish and wow.. they were terribly rubbery… so bad!
Place the bag in a bowl of cold water until they are defrosted.

They flash freeze the shrimp in a brine solution. Thats the sodium
So the royal reds from Joe Patti’s without head but shells on can not be frozen when you get home to have for another time?
No, they come off the boat frozen, and thawed out to put out for sale. Can’t refereeze them
Question is it safe to eat shrimp after the frozen exp date like one month?
Or should I just throw it out

I like the way you cook! Let me come through the screen and give you a big smooch!
Hahaha thanks!
too much repetition
Thanks for watching anyway!
