You are right fella. We are watching not good, or even great really. We are watching one of the very BEST singers of all time. That's a moment in History everyone should witness at least once.
Tom Jones is a legend and is still singing today at 80 years old. He has had hit songs/albums in many genres from the 60s to 2000s. He had his own TV show from 1969 to 71 and sang duets with the biggest names in show biz. Was Knighted by the Queen for his contributions to music among many other awards. He is from Wales and is the son of a coal miner. He is a judge on The Voice UK and was also known as The Voice for his powerful vocals which few could match. He has had a very long career.
I saw him live at the Greek theater in Los Angeles in 1969, he was 29 years old. For two hours and 15 minutes Tom Jones saying just like this, and every song was better than the song before! And thousand people mesmerize for two hours and 15 minutes it was absolutely amazing
Hey young brother, I dig your appreciation for great talent! I wish a lot more young people would try to really hear and LISTEN to what greatness from the past was like and appreciate why they are great. 👌
First time I've seen you do a reaction and I have to show some love. Mad props you nailed it & was a pleasure to hear a youngsta so dead on and able to recognize and appreciate a mic drop performance. There's a reason his career is still on fire. To this day an 81y.o. Sir Tom sells out stadiums and amphitheaters. Truth. No surprise, after witnessing a 28y.o. T.J. take a stage with a full Orchestra, stripped down mic, televised w/live audience and bring it flawlessly.
Never get tired of listening to Sir Tom! This is one of mine and my dad’s favorite songs. Tom is the one who sings “It’s Not Unusual,” the song that inspired The Carlton Dance from Carlton Banks on Fresh Prince! Tom even appeared in an episode of the show playing Carlton’s guardian angel! He’s got a lot of great music to dive into! 🙌💯
I love this reaction! Your appreciation of this man's talent is so great to hear. This is the kind of reaction people love to hear, someone who can appreciate talent no matter who the artist/group is, or the time period by which they came from....
I Was 12 wen my older sisters thrashed this song. I reckon every house in New Zealand played it!! Still a bloody classic!! Glad i was brought up on this timeless music. ❤️
He was only 27 yrs old here - so suave & debonaire with such a smooth, melodic yet powerful voice... I was born the year this came out. As a little kid I remember my mom, aunties, their friends, & hell, even their mothers all and I mean ALL of them had huge crushes on Sir Tom Jones. Whenever he came on the TV, they would all crowd around it & get all giggly like a bunch of school girls. It was funny how they'd yell at us kids (or the husbands) to keep the noise down so they could hear him sing. :-) Elvis Presley was a fan & close friend, often saying that Tom's voice was the best he's ever heard. In fact, Tom's nickname is "The Voice". He is from Wales, UK & recently celebrated his 80th b-day. He can still belt out the songs & was still doing shows until all this stupid COVID business became a reality... I remember watching clips of his concerts & all the women were either fainting & passing out onto the floor or throwing their panies on stage. As a kid, i didn't understand what was driving these ladies so crazy to strip off their underwear to toss them and their hotel room keys at his feet. Now I do understand. It even has a term called the Tom Jones Effect. LOL - no joke! :-) Ok, you must now check out, in this order - "Delilah" and then "Green green grass of home" - seriously dark/deep lyrics, but Tom sings them so beautifully that you forget what the songs are actually about. :-) For some lighter, more upbeat tunes check out She's a Lady, It's not unusual, & KISS (his cover of Prince's hit song with the British band, Art of Noise).
Finally, a reactor who tells it like it is. If the song is going to be trash you will say it. Most reactors here on UA-cam seem to like everything even if it's garbage. I'd rather watch a vid of someone who tells the truth. Good job!
Great reaction. Loved the comment about stopping, recognizing talent and appreciating greatness when you see it or hear it. Tom is singing live and for 3:59 acknowledge the amazing gift. So true! We don’t pause and do that enough.
I must say total respect to your comment saying this is great and appreciate greatness. Tom Jones is an absolute legend and I’m so glad that the younger generation are still respecting him.
There's no denying Tom Jones was one of THE best singers to come out of the British invasion. I pretty much rode that wave back in the day but I never got to see him in concert until about 35 years later - in Vegas at the MGM. My mom (RIP) was a huge fan and I went to his show because of her. That man sounded EXACTLY like he did all those years ago. He did unbelievably LONG sets with very short breaks. And he even came out for a couple of encores. He sang THIS song in his 1st set. An amazing performer, a unique instantly recognizable voice, he's one of a kind - without auto-tune. Pure talent😊 Excellent review. Really enjoyed it. Respect begets respect! 😉
Best reaction ever. You acknowledged his raw talent. A vocal masterpiece in this song. I love that you didn’t focus on the lyrics which about 90% of them have on this song. It is not about the lyrics so this was refreshing. Great job!
This is the 4th video where I watched a young person reacting to hearing Tom Jones for the first time. Check out his other songs like Green Green Grass. Good quality music last a long time. Tom is 80 years old and still got it. I hope he influence these young people to produce good material.
He is now 80 years of age and still sounds as great. He is a judge on the UK's version of the Voice and sang this with the son of the composer, Lonnie Donegan.
Thanks for doing this reaction! Tom Jones is one of the best ever!!! He is from Britain. He and Elvis were really good friends and admired each other's talent. And oh how the woman loved Tom!!!! They literally would throw panties and hotel keys up on stage to him 🤣 Tom was married at 17 and they remained together till her death in 2016! He is still going strong. Is a judge on Britain's got talent. He sang on there and still sounds amazing!! Try Delilah, She's a Lady great songs of his too. Take care.
I’m 68 and the music I grew up with was pure Talent., the artist were great, The Rightous Brothers, The Bee Gees, Elvis, The Jackson 5 and many more, there will never be music like that again, I’m so blessed to have grown up with these talented musicians
That would be Sir Tom Jones to you....Ha! Actually......as a singer, this is unbelievable live. If you look, this is really live. Sir Tom nailed this....Great insights...
I was only 7 years old when Sir Tom performed this but I have 2 older sisters who were one of the millions of women going nuts for Him! I remember that! LOL! Great reaction video, thanks. I have been watching all the reactions to this one for months now .... so many but everyone gets blown away. God broke the mold when He created Tom Jones.
I'm glad you're able to appreciate a great performance by an incredibly singer with an incredible God given talent. "Recorded Live"!! Such a powerful voice, with a wide range that he could control. I thought I was somewhat familiar with Tom Jones recordings (I'm a pro musician with a long career) but I just recently heard this song "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", he outright owns the song!! The same way Ray Charles own so many songs he performed and recorded in his long career. The song was written by an English musician/singer that had some notoriety but Tom Jones' interpretation of it is just something else. This video of this song by the BBC is for the ages, I'm glad this performance was captured for posterity.
This young reactor is spot on. No matter what your taste in music is. This performance transcends any musical genre you can only watch and listen in amazement
I don't often comment on these reviews, but it warms my heart to see young people discovering something we grew up with. Tom and Englebert Humperdink were unmistakably some of the greatest pop and ballad singers of the era. Isn't amazing to hear a person sing a song that they make sure you hear and understand every word of the story within it? Here is the difference from today. Back then you had to study your craft and hone it to a fine-tune. Notice how Ton has taken this song and put emphasis on sadness, or even crying just by inflection just at the perfect moment. He raises the volume of his voice at the perfect moment that adds color clarity and texture to the lyric. He sings the song to purposefully make you feel exactly what the lyrics are telling you and leaves you with an emotion you don't forget soon. Someone else could this song and you might say ...hey that was cool, but it never really left any real impression on you. This kind of artistry requires a complete... bit by bit study of the song ( you might call it a palet) and inch by inch takes every riff and lyric, and worked it over and over, as a sculpture is inch by inch finely honed until the artist has wrung every part of the song lyric and placed in the perfect place, then added the inflection that sends the message. A song like this is rehearsed over and over and over until it becomes a part of you. That takes a lot of work and time.....but look at the payoff. Look at the reactions from all of these acknowledgment channels. People like Ton were megastars back then because they put the time and work in to hone their craft. As others have said they didn't have all these electronic crutches to lean on when they only have a pretty face and cute body, and really can't sing. Tom got his singing experience in the church as a child and was gifted with an awesome voice that encouraged him to stretch his range and create that awesome vibrato that is turned on when the song calls for it. It's complete control. This is why 65 years later he is still relevant, and his voice is still generating huge money at 80. He did the hard work because he loved it, and created a foundation that has served him all of his life, Unlike today's one-hit wonders and flashes in the pans...who wouldn't make a decent busker in the subway without every electronic crutch imaginable, Tom is the real thing. It warms my heart that today's youth are so enamored with the real pros of decades before. This is the REAL thing. If you want to be this good...there are no shortcuts, you have to do the work.
Fantastic one of the best in the game of show business. Incredible Singer. You can hear his roots are in Gospel music. He said he grew up listening to the music in Wales on the radio. That's what he loved. You hear it.
Back in 1968 when this song came out I bought this record for.69 cents. I would always play it on my record player as most teenagers would. The records were called 45's. They were 7in round discs that look like a DVD except for larger and the color black. There was only one song on each side. The Popular Song you were buying was on side a, and the artist also included as a bonus on the other side B, an unpopular song.
Great reaction! I love your passion for music. Tom Jones is 80 yrs old now. You can hear him sing this very song on The Voice with a contestant who happens to be the son of the man who wrote this song.(Lonnie Donigan) A truly magical moment. Well worth a listen. Continue to keep great music alive my friend!God bless.
Great reaction Sir Tom had the women going crazy at concerts back then and he’s 81 years old now and still has that voice in fact he is a judge on the voice tv show and will sing sometimes 👏😎👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍☮️💟
“Man this dude knew in first grade..” That’s a fantastic quite my friend. Confidence itself seeks out some Tom Jones when it’s feeling less than. Tom Jones has always been my idol. I have a B&W photo of myself singing, dressed as close as I could get sans his unreal sized shirt collar- My grandmother was from Wakes first generation I was literally raised on Tom Jones- Phenomenal story, artist and living legend. Check out all his work- Massive in the 70’s- You spell Tom Jones with a G!
I’m an old white dude from Cambridge in the UK but man, I loved your reaction to this song. I just had to subscribe. Well done fella. I love it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So growing up with this music we didn't take it for granted necessarily we just enjoyed it but you can maybe understand why we're so disappointed in what passes for music today
I've met Tom Jones 2 times, once in 1985, in Toronto, Canada my Godmother took me, I was 13 and a second time in 1995 second time went to see him with a girlfriend in the USA and seen Tom Jones 6 times in the 2000s! Such a wonderful man and one of the best singers alive!!! Even got a kiss twice!!💞🤗
Great reaction!! Voice from Heaven above from a guy that is so cool and classy. (anyone who bows in appreciation of applause after a performance shows class, in my book)
And we had hundreds of extremely talented people you can’t even name all the greats of the 60’s and 70’s without forgetting someone amazing! Not like now where you ( in comparison) have very few! Awesome music back then! If you haven’t listened to the Righteous Brothers you’ve lost that loving feeling you definitely should! Then the. Bee Gees!
Hi from England, just want to say one of the best reactions I've seen, and I'll tell you why, your smile of pleasure when he's hitting thoes incredible notes was just so natural, it's just how the song makes me feel too, keep up the good work
Born in 1967...thanks for that lol He had an amazing voice!! He is new to me also because even though I was born in 1967 my music was much different at your age.
Your'e absolutely right. I'm an old man and I remember when he first hit the scene in the 60s. He took the UK by storm and in record sales he compete with Elvis. You're also right that he was gifted but it' like a gift of a bicycle, before a person can use it they must learn how to ride it. But if that isn't enough, they must practice, practice and practice and learn from their betters. When I first heard you speak I thought you sounded cynical but gladly you redeemed yourself. Tom comes from Wales which has always been famous for its excellent male voice choirs. I bet that's where he started. Check out Shirley Bassey, she's welsh and started around the same time. She was the voice of the Bond movie Goldfinger. She's also a belter like Tom. Best wishes from England.
This guy is the best Welsh male singer ever. IMO, I think he is 82 now. I'm not sure, but he still has the voice that can reach the gods. I read that he would not let people use anything faules to add or enhance his voice in later years. That what you hear is pure talent. Wonderful.
He can still sing this song just as well at age 80. He is a judge/coach on The Voice UK and sings often on the show. Check it out on UA-cam here. You will be amazed.
No need to change the music this was time when the music was pure natural and undigitizied and great singers like Tom had to rely on his great vocals not technology
Sir Tom Jones Loved To Sing And He Loved The Ladies ! living back in the day was great listing to your favorite artist (s) Tom Jones was the real deal .. that really was his voice because we didn't know of all of that stuff you put in music now lol ! i went to a concert of Sir Tom Jones he was amazing !! Thank You for listing to Tom and giving your HONEST OPINION

Growing up I thought every house came with Tom Jones albums because I heard it in mine and all my friends houses as dinner was being made.
Pure talent... ...
Ha-Ha-Ha!!! Thats hilarious!!! I can totally relate!!!
OMG my mother and her girlfriends gushed over him. I remember being so embarrassed.
Same here.
I saw him live at the Greek theater in Los Angeles in 1969, he was 29 years old. For two hours and 15 minutes Tom Jones saying just like this, and every song was better than the song before! And thousand people mesmerize for two hours and 15 minutes it was absolutely amazing
dang ! that's like being at wood stock .
Man, you are lucky.
So love this song ! Amazing voice and such emotion in his singing... never do I get tired of this song... never❤️
No auto tone, and this is a live nationally televised performance. 1967
I truly enjoyed your reaction, Thank You. Tom Jones is one of the best vocals you will ever-ever hear.
Hey young brother, I dig your appreciation for great talent! I wish a lot more young people would try to really hear and LISTEN to what greatness from the past was like and appreciate why they are great. 👌

Love your reaction and I love Tom!!! One of the best - ever!
I love this reaction! Your appreciation of this man's talent is so great to hear. This is the kind of reaction people love to hear, someone who can appreciate talent no matter who the artist/group is, or the time period by which they came from....
Tom is a boss and he kills it every performance even at 80 years old. Legend
He was 27 years old when he did this performance. Gorgeous voice! He can STILL sing beautifully! 😍
Gorgeous man
Used to watch his show when I was young. My mom was right there watching Tom do his thing.
Yours is one of the best reactions to the music of my youth I've heard yet. Bravo, young sir!
You young man just instilled in me some hope for the youth of today.
Great reaction.

I Was 12 wen my older sisters thrashed this song. I reckon every house in New Zealand played it!! Still a bloody classic!! Glad i was brought up on this timeless music. ❤️

Sir Tom Jones is also a coach on the Voice UK...❤️💕🥰🎤👩🏼🦳
I agree, Greatness personified !!! IN Tom Jones !!!
I must say total respect to your comment saying this is great and appreciate greatness. Tom Jones is an absolute legend and I’m so glad that the younger generation are still respecting him.
It is so special to see you understand and I respect you even more for doing so.

Lol! You should have more 👍 for your comment!
Hi old man best ,we’re still listening to Tom jones and I’m 82 now brilliant

I wish music like this would co.e back
I lived how you broke it down;. This is greatness on this Earth.
Just today I saw a video of him singing this song at his current age which I think he is in his late 70’s. It was pretty damn good
You know true talent unlike many who like it are umm about s song or an artist.
Tom Jones, if you can believe it, sounds better today than in the past. He still has that incredible range.

Living legend, such an amazing amazing performer!! Jesus truly blessed him with some serious talent
Then the. Bee Gees!
Hi from England, just want to say one of the best reactions I've seen, and I'll tell you why, your smile of pleasure when he's hitting thoes incredible notes was just so natural, it's just how the song makes me feel too, keep up the good work
You have to hear him sing today at 82.unbelievable
Best wishes from England.
the legend and voice tom jones . the master
Tom earned the name THE VOICE, back in the day.
I think the math works out to 53 years ago. They say he still has the pipes at age 80.
He was 28 years old there a coal miner from Wales discovered singing in a pub after work
glad you like our Sir Tom Jones
