His daughter, Natalie Cole, did this song and they blended his version in with hers-- as a duet. It is beautiful
The one she did alongside her father is one of my favorite albums!
Yes. Sadly, we lost both of them too soon.
That was an epic collaboration! Natalie and Nat crooning in Heaven.
For men tenor is high range, baritone is in the middle, bass is the low register.
It was so good! I remember that. It was so crazy at the time. Do you recall when they had his hologram on stage singing with her?
His diction is perfection. His voice is like melted butter.
There will never be another Nat King Cole.
Yes …. as smooth as butta!
Smooth as silk
I’ve always said is voice is like butter. The good kind. That Kerrygold shit.
And he smoked two packs of unfiltered cigarettes a day!
If you ever focus on holiday songs, Nat King Cole’s version of “The Christmas Song” (“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…”) is an absolute classic.
Agreed. It really is THE Christmas album
My favourite!
True
Nat King Cole Christmas - The Carpenters Christmas - The Jackson Five Christmas albums were always played growing up. Still do it to this day.
Hm. Hadn’t heard of a Jackson 5 Christmas album. I’ll have to check it out this year
Let's face it..... Mr. Nat King Cole really is 2nd to NONE!! A MASTER-PERFORMER ALL THE WAY.... 100%!!!!
Listen to him sing "Mona Lisa." The sound of it alone makes LIFE worth living!
"Mona Lisa" and "Stardust" are my other two Nat King Cole favorites
Pure buttah.
And "Smile"
I was born when "Mona Lisa" was popular. One of my earliest memories is of my father singing along with Nat King Cole.
@@imocchidoro Yes, "Smile", "Nature Boy", "The Christmas Song"... I could go on!
He is legendary as a singer and musician and he died way too early from lung cancer at the age of 45 in 1965. His daughter Natalie Cole was a huge singer in the 80’s thru the 2000’s and did a famous duet split screen version of Unforgettable with a video of her dad. It’s a great video. Unfortunately. She passed away in December 2015. They both had the most beautiful voices. Glad that you reacted to him.
I was thinking about that MV. So perfect together.
Listen to this duet! Nat and Natalie Cole!
She did a whole album of duets with her father.
The duet of father and daughter IS a must watch!!!!!
This could be a part of your female Friday 😎❤💯
ua-cam.com/video/KII5be5qExs/v-deo.html
Nat not only sang, he played piano, played trumpet, played drums, broke through the tv stigma of the day! Super nice person, he left too soon, but he is, “Unforgettable”!!
With Nats voice, you can hear every single syllable of every single word he sings. The clarity and dictation of this man is unique. He as a one off.
Played this at my grandfather’s funeral last year. He was 100 when he passed, and he was definitely unforgettable! He LOVED the crooners/big band music and used to sing this and dance around the house. Seeing this today feels like a sign… miss you, Slick! ❤️
I'm sorry for your loss, wow, 100, that's awesome. My Dad, WWII Veteran, plans to live to be 100, he's 96 now. I hope he makes it, it's been something he's said he wanted to accomplish, for as long as I can remember. He's doing well, so far.
@@sillililli01 best wishes to you and your dad!
@@hollydeitch1977 Thank you.
His daughter, Natalie Cole, did a duet with him to this song - using his recorded voice, after his death - as a tribute. . . it, too, is unforgettable
Love that father and daughter duet!
It gave a whole new meaning to the song for me and I remember bursting into tears the first time I saw that video back in the day.
I loved it when she did that live
Listen to him with his daughter Natalie
SO MUCH HAVE TO WATCH IT: ua-cam.com/video/CCX1xUdMsNs/v-deo.html
He is the king of the crooners ..Beautiful silky voice..True G.O.A.T.
First time I realized as a kid just how ethereal, elegant and melodious a voice could be.
Smoothe as silk. Someone already recommended Louis Armstrong “What a Wonderful World.” You will not regret it!
Yeah, and he wasn’t just any crooner, his voice sounded like whiskey and flowed effortlessly Into our hearts our souls our minds. His music created a mood like few artists could do. Yeah I grew up to the soundtrack of Nat King Cole!
Me too!
My dad loved the King. He initially ran his office out of our house, and I can remember falling asleep to the sound of Nat King Cole on his stack of records. Dad was an architect, and he said he did his best work listening to this man's voice. All I know is that nearly 70 years later, I only need to hear 2 or 3 seconds of his voice to be sent back to that perfect world, where everyone was safe, protected, and loved. One of his best is "I Wish You Love." "I wish you bluebirds in the spring, to give your heart a song to sing..." Check it out!
His voice alone broke through racial barriers. He became widely popular on the radio. Many fans were completely hooked before they even knew he was a black man.
There weren't as many "racial barriers" in the 40's and 50's as today's racists would have you think.
There was a lot of hatred and prejudice to be sure, but there's always going to be ignorance, no matter what.
The anti-black mind-set in the 50's doesn't compare with the anti-white attitudes of today.
Not true. He was in the newspapers and record stores sincve 1946.
If you've ever heard The Christmas Song...Chestnuts roasting on an open fire... You've heard Nat.
He has awesome Christmas music as well...😉
Oh love Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, really gives me that Christmas magic feeling
I grew up in the 50-60s. Every Christmas we would listen to Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Jim Reeves, Elvis, Andy Williams on other artists' Christmas albums.
During the Christmas season, his version of "The Christmas Song" is played all the time--an absolute classic.
The Christmas Song belongs to him
Sometimes known by the first line of the soneg: "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire..."
Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra are my go to singers for Christmas Songs.
I play his Christmas album at least several times each year. Mona Lisa is also a great song.
I fugging absolutely detest Christmas songs. A wretched, perverse genre.
But Nat’s Christmas songs I’ll listen to all day. I used to own his Christians songs album.
When you want to talk about iconic voices... Nat King Cole is an iconic voice. His tone, his phrasing, his range... I just melt when I this song, and he makes it seem so _effortless_ . Thanks for reacting to this.
I love his voice. So beautiful. You should hear the version of this that was done by his daughter, Natalie Cole. She does a duet with his recorded voice after he had passed. It brought me to tears.
THIS⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
It is BEAUTIFUL.
Nat King Cole had some great songs: "Smile"' "Mona Lisa", "Around the world"
Some other crooners I would recommend are:
Johnny Mathis - "Chances Are", "Wonderful, Wonderful"
Andy Williams - "Moon River", "Born Free" "Happy Heart"
Mel Tormè - "Blue Moon", "A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square"
Dean Martin - "Volare"' "Everybody Loves Somebody" "That's Amoré" "Memories are made of This"
Bobby Darin - "Dream Lover" "Beyond the Sea"
Excellent suggestions! I’d add “Sway” by Dean Martin.
Seasonal - but..,. "the Christmas Song"
Nice choices🎼
You can't have Bobby Darin without Mack the Knife!!!! Great suggestions though!
Around The World was my wedding song, first dance with hubby. 21 years strong. ♥️
The duet that his daughter Natalie Cole put together so she could sing this song with her dad after he had passed away, is just fantastic. She definitely has some of her Daddys style and soul, great voice in her own right. She was only 15 when he died, so did the duet as a tribute on a release of standards on an album later in her career.
They should listen to this as well, it was just an awesome duet. Highly recommend it!
His singing voice is flawless and un-mistakenly irreplaceable, iconic and untouchable, truely one of a kind. 1 of the Greatest singers ever
We attended a Natalie Cole Concert at an outdoor facility in California, where she sang this with a huge video of her dad behind her on stage singing as well. We were all in tears. It was amazing.
I saw her on that same tour and her singing with the video as you described is etched hard in my memory as well. ❤
Can't say I'm not just a little jealous! Too bad he died before my time!
It’s totally ironic but his cover of “Smile” always makes me well up with tears just because it’s so beautiful. I truly cannot recommend that one enough. There’s something so genuine in his performances. It feels like every word is important and almost like he’s singing them right at you.
So so glad you checked him out! One of my all time faves.
You def gotta check out Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald as well. Some of the most incredible voices you’ll ever hear.
Charlie Chaplin co-wrote Smile
Add Etta James. Sister Rosetta Tharp.
Add the names Sarah Vaughan and Anita O'Day -- also Peggy Lee.
If you liked Nat King Cole, the you need to listen to Johnny Mathis singing “Stardust”. It is a MUST.
Or Twelfth of never or Wild is the wind, and of course Chances are. Love Johnny Mathis, when I was a kid my mom would put Johnny Mathis on the stereo when we went bed and we all fell asleep listening to that beautiful voice drifting through the house.
And Misty!
Johnny Mathis Christmas Album is one of my all time favorites.
Nat King Cole, in my view, is the epitome of gentlemanly class and style. His voice is superlative. It rises above all others. If you haven't heard it already, consider listening to the Christmas Song. Due to it's thematic content, I find the Christmas Song to be among the finest recordings of all time.
One of the most beautiful voices of all time!! Mr. Cole oozed nothing but class. Even suffering the racism of the time(when he couldn't stay in the big hotels he performed at, or walk through their front entrances). No one fought with more elegance. Try "Autumn Leaves", When I Fall in Love" "Mona Lisa" and "Nature Boy". I'm glad you guys are discovering such a wealth of music 🙂
His daughter ,Natalie, recorded this as a duet with her father after his death. She used footage of him and sang with that.
Yes, it was a big hit in the 90s
WOW - Almost 100,000 subscribers! You guys deserve it - as a 60’s child I enjoy watching you fall in love with all the music that has meant so much to so many over the years. Amber you are a gem, I love your appreciation of the music and songs lyrics; J your joy in the rhythm of a song is so fun to watch. I always let the ads run for you two…LOL that’s proves how much I enjoy you. Keep on spreading that positivity!
I know that feeling.
Amber makes this channel. Her reactions are genuine.
And in such a short amount if time.
@@zeropressureacoustic7255 like them both the same, but I do like thar she has joined Jay as a regular in the channel.
_Love your statement and agree!_
His daughter, Natalie Cole was also a great RnB singer. She did a "UNFORGETTABLE" duet with her father using clips from his old footage. A great tribute to a great singer.
Even though they had different ranges and styles, they both had such smooth voices. They had a similar sound in how they sounded out the words in a pronounced but soft feel.
All music is appreciated. I was born in 1959. So, 70s was my era, but my parents listened to all of this, so I was exposed to quite a variety. 40s and 50s music was classy. Jazz and Big Band era. Just beautiful.
I was born in1959 and feel the same way as you do. The 50s, 60s, 70s and some artists from the 80s had a lot of great artists and groups that put out great music. The only difference between then and now, is the fact that there was no such thing as auto-tune.
There was no one else like Nat King Cole! Truly blessed with a gift. I'd also suggest Johnny Mathis "Chances Are" from 1957... a crooner song with great piano!
Chances Are would be a great song to see their reaction to.
Johnny Mathis - also wonderful.
I LOVE Johnny Mathis!
Another great number.
His daughter, Natalie, did a duet with him to this song that is fantastic. Y'all should respond to that version.
Yes, please react to this version of "Unforgettable"
I completely agree! :)
I was just going to say that!!
It was a posthumous recording.
@@doloresbellini6452 yes, he died young.
My mom was a big fan of Nat King Cole's music, and I ended up falling in love with his voice as a young girl. I would listen to her album of his greatest hits over, and over again!😊 His daughter, Natalie Cole, was also a singer, a beautiful voice that seems her dad passed on to her😊, and she even did a virtual 'duet' with her dad on this song. Totally worth a listen.👍
You need to listen to his song called “ When I Fall in Love”…such a heavenly voice!!
Such a GREAT song
That man's voice was as smooth as silk. The greatest Christmas song ever is his "Christmas Song". Next stop Sam Cooke's "You Send Me", and Johnny Mathis' "Misty"
This!!!
Please react to Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me.” I have yet to watch anyone react to this first or early hit for Sam Cooke. I actually saw him perform twice while in my teens.
It would've been unforgettable to see Cole's face if someone had told him people will be watching and listening to him 65 years later on their phones 😊
Great Comment
YES!!!
One of the most silky smooth voices of all time. A beloved singer by all audiences.
You have to listen to Sam Cooke. Songs like “you send me” or “bring it on home to me” or “a change is gonna come.” Honestly all his songs are amazing
Absolutely.
After Nat died, his daughter Natalie recorded herself singing this with him posthumously. It's worth checking out. Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole Unforgettable. Edit: The live version that has 1.1 million views is by far the best version. It has sax!
Yeah, that's pretty awesome to watch.
That should be a female Friday idea
Yes. A must see.
@@joeyboedeker7205 a must!!!
Yessssssss!!!!
More Nat King Cole: When I Fall In Love! That’s my first choice for Jordans next lesson on crooners. He had a lot of hits which is why he had his own show. His talent was massive so he had a huge fan base.
Yes when I fall in love is like his top song ever.. ❤️
Everything he does is great but that’s not even close, “Smile!”
Nat King Cole had one of the most beautiful, and seemingly effortless, voices I've ever heard. And of course it was wonderful for Christmas music. No Christmas season is complete without him. ♥️
I LOVE that you two are bringing these classics to young people and they're learning to appreciate them by your reactions. Nat King Cole is amazing, his voice, his phrasing, and his class. Top notch.
Thank you both for bringing this.
His daughter did a digital duet to this song with him many years after he passed...it's beautiful!
You should move from crooners to jazz singers:
Ella Fitzgerald - Miss Otis Regrets
Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit
Billie Holiday - God Bless This Child
Bessie Smith - Down Hearted Blues
Etta Jones - Yes Sir, That's My Baby
Nina Simone - I want a Little Sugar in my Bowl
That should get you rolling.
Oh heck yes. All of these!
Ella Fitzgerald... "Cry Me A River" Tearjerker! Guaranteed full body goose bumps.
And speaking of Bessie Smith, "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," and "St. Louis Blues."
One of the great human voices, like silk. He's eternal.
Glad you liked Nat King Cole. Check out his "Mona Lisa", "Nature Boy", "When I Fall in Love", etc., too. Needless to say, his "Christmas Song" (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...) is a holiday classic.
Besides his musical career, Nat also appeared in several films. He appeared as a lounge singer in The Blue Gardenia and has a more dramatic role as a French Foreign Legion mercenary in China Gate.
If you haven't already sampled Sammy Davis Jr. you should. One of the most talented performers of the second half of the Twentieth Century...singer, tap dancer, actor, amazing impersonator, the whole nine yards. He was a member of the infamous Rat Pack, along with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and a host of others.
It’s not Christmas for me until I hear Nat King Cole’s “Christmas Song.” It’s my absolute favorite holiday song.
His Daughter Natalie Cole reprised this as a duet post humus with Nat. She has a beautiful voice of her own and the song is cut nicely with Nat
Nat's voice is hypnotizing. What a LEGEND.
Legend, Nat King Cole, with his beautiful voice and this beautiful song. Brings tears to my eyes.
I’m old enough to remember him singing this on his variety show. The show lasted only one season. By the way, he was considered a master jazz piano player and preferred playing piano to singing.
You likely would recognize his rendition of “The Christmas Song”, one of the most known songs at Christmas.
Yes!!
I used to sing this song as a lullaby to my first child as I was trying to get her to go to sleep. It became "our" song. So of course, it was the song we danced to at her wedding. Thanks for your reaction. God bless!
The thing that impressed me about Nat King Cole was that he would always look into the camera like he was making eye contact with you personally and that he was always smiling. Besides being a great singer, he was also a very good piano player......a real musician.
Take a listen to Natalie Cole’s hologram duet with her dad on this...it’s a beautiful tribute!
Yess 👍
Yes! The duet was done by reusing the original for his voice, as he had already passed.
Yes indeed!
Yes, please react to this version of "Unforgettable"
She has also passed away 😢
Natalie also had a great voice. “this will be” and “Our love” are some I remember from the seventies. Female Friday, perhaps???
If you want to hear Natalie flex her formidable chops, pull up her singing Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Pure silk. His voice is out of this world. His daughter also sings and they actually have a video of them singing together even though he has been dead for years.
His voice was butter...soooo beautiful. Natalie Cole had a big career.
This song is really nice and the spliced version with his daughter Natalie is also very nice. By far my favorite Nat King Cole tune though is "It's Only a Paper Moon".
I totally love to do it with him and his daughter even though hes not there physically hes there in spirit and it makes the difference
Duet
There is a version of this song that his Daughter Natalie Cole did where they used footage from Nat singing so that it was a duet. So touching, it really gets you in the feels!
Here it is...ua-cam.com/video/DhpmxjRXneY/v-deo.html
I always listen to Nat to find balance in life. His voice is magical. Blessed to enjoy him. Love you Nat x
I heard, years ago, this man thought of himself as "just a piano player"! His completely unique sound and style is timeless.
Another pure voice is Johnny Mathis. ‘Misty’
Joe and Eddy ‘There’s a Meeting here tonight’
Definitely need a listen to Johnny Mathis. He is one register higher (tenor) than Nat, both singers wowed me in the 60’s, and I still love them. My LP collection had a section for crooners, and they took half that section.
Misty is great! Agree.
My mother is Guyanese and when she was a teenager she attended a party where Mathis was flown in to perform.
This is a live performance. No auto tune. Singers in the day knew how to sing. His song Mona Lisa is a 10.
His voice just melts me. He was one of my dad's favorite singers.
There’s a unusually produced duet video and audio track of this song with his daughter, Natalie Cole, as an adult, with Nat King Cole using technology to merge his performance with hers. One of the most technically amazing things I’ve ever seen. And yes, it made the Billboard Top 100 on its release.
Nat has one of the top three voices the good Lord ever created.
"Nature Boy" by Nat King Cole is magical. Will give you chills. Try to watch the version with him accompanying himself on piano. And yes, I echo Johnny Mathis. I was performing in the same theatrical complex one night, and sneaked into the wings with another performer to watch. I recommend "The Twelfth of Never" - a gem.
When you said “Twelfth of Never,” it brought a nostalgic chill/thrill through my body. Johnny was so amazing. Even angelic at times.
Nature Boy is my favorite.
Love Johnny Mathis singing Misty.
@@martinlepper4522 My mother wore out Johnny's Greatest Hits so I know all those songs. They're all great. Now I must see if I can nab that album for myself. :)
Nat was a true master jazz musician on the piano. He has some really great, chillingly beautiful and romantic songs.
This just might be one of the most beautiful and romantic songs ever! ❤
Nat King Cole had the most beautiful smooth voice that brings me to tears every time I hear him. Anything by him is wonderful. His daughter, Natalie Cole, was also a wonderful singer. She did a duet of this song with a hologram of him and it is incredible, might I say "Unforgettable"? He did a fantastic Christmas album and I have it on CD. I play it every year. It's not Christmas without NKC's "Christmas Song."
Looove Nat King Cole, an absolute legend, he even recorded three spanish albums so he's also a classic in spanish speaking countries. You should listen to his daughter Natalie's version, she turned this song into a duet and it's amazing, may they both rest in eternal peace
Originally, Nat Cole fronted a jazz group called The King Cole Trio and wasn't a singer at all. They had booked a gig where a singer was required. Cole said "we don't have a singer" He tried it himself, and the rest is history. He was a fabulous jazz pianist, but fate had a different plan.
YES! Listen to the duet!!
Must hear the duet with his daughter. Natalie has a beautiful voice also. Must listen to the duet !
Nat King Cole is unforgettable, such a soothing voice no matter what he sung.
I grew up listening to Nat King Cole, playing on the stereo while my parents danced to it. They were serious fans. I am too. My kids who are in tgeur thirties grew up with his music too, and his Christmas album is one of their adult faves still. Such a talent and a good man.
The pure class. That velvet voice. The impeccable suit. The confidence. The charm. We do not have artists like this anymore.
I was privileged to see him perform and sing Unforgettable at the "then" famous Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel in L A. around '61 or '62. He was amazing. His daughter sings along with him updated after his death. Natalie Cole has now passed to.
Yes, you must watch Natalie singing with her father... ua-cam.com/video/CCX1xUdMsNs/v-deo.html
So many crooners wish they had Nat's voice. Just beautiful.
As a little girl i looked forward to watching his show! He's still my number one male singer from that era! My fascination with his voice hasn't changed even though I'm 72 years old!!
So smooth, So classy. You must hear the tribute duet his daughter Natalie does with him. His versions of "Mona Lisa" & "Stardust" also display what a great singer he was.
Yes! ❤️
You should try Natalie Cole “This Will Be An Everlasting Love”. She is his daughter who was popular in the 70’s.
This was my nana and grandads song. It was so beautiful to watch how much they loved each other whenever they listened to it. We played it at both of their funerals because there love was the type to live on forever even after death. Always brings a tear to my eye
I'm in my 60's now. I remember as a kid, my mother would melt every time he sang! He is one of the all time greats! His daughter Natalie is just as amazing!
I'm 19 and i melt whenever i hear his voice!
A true classic! So cool to see a newer generation APPRECIATE Mr. Cole's vocal gift. If I could sound like anyone who ever sang... Nat Cole would definitely be in the Top 3! BRAVO!
His daughter Natalie , years after his death , as a rising singer she recorded Unforgettable with his version colorized and played as if both were on stage. Their voices complement each other so well. Take the best and add some more.
Not only his voice, but his phrasing. Ooh, baby! It's like he makes you wait with every note. Oooh!
Stardust. Stardust. STARDUST. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Seriously. STARDUST.
This song was done again with his daughter Natalie cole. and they made the song and video look and sound like they did a duet. even thou he had passed away a while back, I love this song. Amber got it right he is one of the singers I listen too when I can't fall asleep. and great memory my mom who was a piano teacher always taught this song to her students. they do not make them like this anymore...
And now both of them are longer with us....R.I.P. Nat and Natalie...
Yes! Totally and utterly sublime!! You should also check out more by NKC like: Mona Lisa, When I Fall in Love, The Very Thought of You. Oh and yes, Michael Buble is definitely worth checking out for modern day crooners - with songs like: Home, Haven't Met You Yet, Sway, Save the Last Dance for Me, Feeling Good, Crazy Love, etc, etc.
Yes Michael Bublé the modern day crooner
Feeling Good by Michael Buble has the Sinatra appeal that you would like.
YES on Mona Lisa, then When I Fall In Love.
Nat King Cole was one of the best singers of all time. It was a crying shame how He was taken from the world. RSP Nat. We still love you.
My dad couldn't even speak English but he was my dad's favorite. Especially autumn leaves.
This man is incredibly unforgettable. He is the personification of style.
Agree. Such class.
His voice was pure perfection. He is unforgettable.
The LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Nat King Cole
His voice makes me melt inside 😊
His voice is So Smooth!
His daughter, did a beautiful version of this song with him, posthumously. It’s so wonderful to hear her voice blend with her Dad’s.
I have heard this sing but don’t know the singer and I don’t know his daughter as well. Thank you for mentioning her, I will check her songs.
His voice was a surprise to everyone, and he started singing in public later in life. He was best known (in his lifetime) as a pianist.
1956 I was 13. One of my favorite singers. I lucked out, I grew up starting with Big band music through the beginning of Rock and Roll thru hard rock and heavy metal. I've seen them all.
Nat King Cole’s voice brings 'Unforgettable' to life. He sings it with so much emotion and skill that you can feel it deep in your soul. His smooth voice and unique style make this song truly timeless.
If you loved Nat's solo version of "Unforgetable", you'll also enjoy the duet version his daughter, Natalie Cole, sings with her posthumous father (Nat). Such a beautiful tribute to her father.
