When Spencer write Tombstone: Funny, tough, and ultimately loving and supporting dad. When Wells writes Tombstone: worst thing he done is beat up and trick spidey, yet blames for things he actually avoid doing, and he forgets his own motivation for plot contrivance
"Diet Kingpin" lol. I would say that I don't know whether to give Wells credit for backing off of things that didn't work immediately (weird beetle costume, White Rabbit's betrayal) or laugh at him for having to backpedal so soon. But then I remember Issue one and a certain redhead and how that's still a thing 57 issues later and the choice is clear. "Lol what a failure having to backpedal ten issues after doing something". Seriously another great example of the complete planning failure that was this dumpster fire of a run.
Nah. Especially not in New York. If he's the "kingpin" he has lots of cash, and NY is fairly lax when it comes to bail. Some states don't allow bail for murder cases, but AFAIK NY does. Really the only thing that needs explanation is why Spider-Man would think he wouldn't get out on bail in NYC in 2024, cause that just makes him look dumb.
Joel did you read the comic in depth? Because it's stated many times that everyone believes that Tombstone WON'T kill his daughter and that he would go after Randy as a substitute to hurt his daughter for betraying him.
Yeah he mentions that but then the last page happens and it's pretty clear the implication is that everyone was wrong about what Tombstone was willing to do.
For once I’ll be positive about ASM, I was able to buy and enjoy a bunch of other books I got a chance to read because of the money I’ve saved the past couple years. Now there are a few writers where if I see their name on a book I’m definitely giving issue 1 a chance.
Agreed with you, Joel, this was a 'meh' issue of not-so-Amazing Spider-man! Again, Peter/Spidey is barely in this book and does almost nothing to the plot if at all!
Yeah, Lincoln's motivation is kind of lost to me here. My goodness I cannot wait for this story to be over...also another ex to diminish Peter in some way. Okay, Great thanks Wells.
Better idea, don't get the book. Pirate it if you must read it. But don't give them your money. If you're a collector just wait six months and get it for half price in the back issue bins.
@CapedJoel I have a string of flimsy theories why: 1) Marvel probably doesn't see the profit of it. I don't think the general audience will really care 2) Marvel is kinda of scared of relationships 😅. They're a few strong ones like Jean x Scott, Strange x Clea, She-hulk x Card man (forgot his name sorry), but when it comes to main line relationships it's a coin toss if the writer wants to write them 3) Marvel has no idea what's going on anymore with their own continuity 😂😅
The most interesting part of this issue is the letters page where Nick Lowe literally admits thinking that he doesn't believe in character development.
Thats because like his master, Quesada, he believes Peter shouldn't be allowed to grow and mature lest he becomes an "old man" and not "RELATABLE" to readers and fans, especially younger kids who are the MAJORITY of Spidey fans!
Thank goodness this nightmare of a run is almost over. As out there as the Joe Kelly fill in arc sounds, it’ll have to be more interesting than this storyline is
Say, Joel, will you be reviewing Avengers Assemble #1 by Steve Orlando? That book has a lot of great B & C-list characters and She-Hulk is also there and drawn very nicely instead of this ugly depiction here😊
I more less read the news letters the editor answered why spider man doesn't develop and why status quo inconsistent basically the writers like to put apider man in these scenarios and put things back to square one at certain point.
Also why the bad inconsistent art they had two artist during spider goblin one who handled main characters and the other who does supporting characters.

We need at least some explanation for the bail. A bribe, ransom, connections with officials, telepaths, anything!

Spoilers:
It’s still terrible.
(Give Joel your watch time, though)
It was nice to see Tombstone in action, but we need more Spidey in a Spidey book. Also, White Rabbit had a nice bit of character growth.
The Amazing supporting c list class
Great narration. Keep up the great spidey comic work
Joel did you read the comic in depth? Because it's stated many times that everyone believes that Tombstone WON'T kill his daughter and that he would go after Randy as a substitute to hurt his daughter for betraying him.
He probably skimmed past that as he is uninterested in where this story is going.....

Looking forward to this creative team being done.

Not surprising AS Wells had a DIVORCE
Make sure when you guys get the book please read the letters page Nick lowb just said he doesn’t want Peter/spider-man to grow as a character
I am not surprised the guy Nick Lowe is a complete imbecile for thinking that awful logic of Peter Parker Spider-Man.

I'm genuinely surprised the marvel universe doesn't have an alan dershowitz type that defenses villains.

If it wasn’t for Joel I wouldn’t even know what’s going on in ASM for which I give my many thanks from saving me buying this mess😂
So we went through all of that last issue just to let him out in the very next introduction. What the hell.
This was the only time I was actually invested with an issue in this series. I legitimately was concerned about the Beetle and Robbie

Hope so, too! However, the "fill-in" arc is a tie-in and prelude to the next BIG Marvel event, ONE World under DOOM. 😅
The Wells run won't really be over until the Paul situation is retconned. It's Wells' world until then.
