Season one of Beast Morphers truly felt like a return of classic Power Ranger form in some of the episodes, but with a modern day twist to it. That’s the Power Rangers I like to see going forward.

Beast Morphers is a season that has noticeable flaws and weak spots, but its faults are mostly easy to forgive because of its strengths.
At least this is still a great season compared to the Neo-Saban Power Rangers.

Matt McPherson honestly Dino Charge was a refreshing drink of water after the disaster that was Megaforce. It does have some areas that could use some more work (especially with the dialogue) but it was as The Disney Brain put, the Neo-Saban’s peak

To be fair, the only real connection is that both have a virus as the main villain with different motives (Evox wants a physical body to taken over the Morphin Grid whereas Venjix wants to kill all of humanity) and that both have African American (or in Eka's case Australian black person) as the Red Ranger. The stories are pretty different otherwise if only that RPM had slightly better writing (I'd say much better but RPM had a scriptural rewrite halfway through when Guzelian was fired so several characters, most notably Finn, had subplots that seemed to go nowhere).

One of the main problems with the Neo-Saban era was that it took itself too seriously. Power Rangers since it's inception has worked because of its self awareness, they know that it's formula is cheesy and campy so they embrace it. The Neo-Saban era tried to oversell itself, like when that one middle schooler is trying to prove how tough and cool he is, and all it did was give those shows less personality and fun.
Beast Morphers is essentially a return to form.

This show isn’t perfect, and it’s certainly not the greatest PR season ever, but goddamn is this show fun. And that’s a feeling that I haven’t felt with PR since Dino Charge season 1.

@@trashboat5388 The Go-Buster symbol is essentially the Beast Morpher symbol as well. It's no different from any season, like Jungle Fury or Dino Thunder--they all keep the symbols because they're incorporated into the uniforms. Can't be avoided.
I like Beast Morphers. It took me a while to get into it but it has good action and characters I find it difficult to hate for any reason that isn't "Not enough screen time." An award that goes solely to Vargoyle.
Vargoyle was litterly the best villain in the whole show, in fact, he could have been a lot more useful and had a lot of potential,in my opinion one of the best thing Hasbro could have used him for is betraying evox, or become second in command
04:57 Funny thing your bring up the Jindrax and Toxica dynamic considering how one of the original concepts for them was apparently that they were going to be Cole's Parents, taken over when Org attacked them. So in that sense, it's like Blaze and Roxy are finally a realization of that plot concept

From the sound of it, it's seeming like this first Beast Morphers season is what Megaforce failed to realize what MMPR Season 1 was, pure camp that doesn't take itself seriously nor asks too many questions about it for the sake of just being fun.

I enjoyed Beast Morphers for the most part. I do think Zoey was pushed to the back since Ravi had more episodes. I still like her do not get me wrong, but I feel as though she should have had a little more focus considering her mother nearly exposed the Rangers identities. Maybe in the second season this will be touched upon again. Devon and Steel are my favorites hands down and when they worked together, they were a pretty good duo. As for the potential couple, I hope Zoey and Nate (with more proper development) do the opposite of Ravi and Roxy and actually start dating without anyone knowing. It would create some conflict for the team as well as their relationship in general. Overall, I think Beast Morphers is fun to watch. Hopefully, season two will expand upon this and give us more good content.
I feel like this is a "legacy" problem from GB. yellow was the one with less development there as well (and, in a minor detail, the film exclusive megazord has only her parts removed), and with less costumed shot, they had to concentrate into the person itself. person that was disarmingly simple
@@serPomiz to be fair, you don't need Go-Buster footage to create a B-plot. And we know they have most of the Robotron suits due to most after Episode 3 making some appearance in the Cyber Dimension. Not to mention, almost all of the footage for the episode "A Friend Indeed" was completely replaced with US footage to remove the subplot about Denshaloid\Railtron stealing Enetron (the Go-Busters equivalent of Morph X). The part where they began using Go-Buster footage was after they powered up his arms when they charged at him during the final confrontation (the reason being he had bulkier arms in Go-Busters and the US suit had human ones so he could holds the discs).

The Morphin' time thing is ALSO a neo-saban thing, we're gonna have to see if Hasbro decides to keep it around.

@@madnessarcade7447 Go-Busters, the SUper Sentai season Beast Morphers is based on, also used the phrase "It's Morphing Time" as a nod to Power Rangers. Whether this was a factor in Hasbro using it I don't know, but it's not exclusive to Saban.
Madness Arcade Actually there’s a very good reason for that. You see Saban was already early in development of this season when Hasbro bought the franchise, so Saban was still a factor in Beast Morphers first season. But next year (aka tomorrow!) Saban will be out and Hasbro will have full control of the series, meaning we can finally see what Power Rangers looks like in the hands of the masters
I worked with Liana Ramirez (Roxy) on a horror movie a couple years ago and she is the nicest, most professional actress I've ever met. It's a real treat to see her ham it up on PR these days.
Master Swoop's actor was also the voice of Jenji in Mystic Force.
I’m excited for what’s next to come. I’m hoping we can get our expectations flipped in the next series. For example I would like to see civilians hate the rangers for the damage giant battles cause. The series could focus on gaining the people’s trust while the villains want to ruin their name. It would be a cool concept!
Beast Morphers season one was very solid, mostly likable characters, great villains in Roxy & Blaze, nice action and some good humor. This is easily the best PR series since RMP.
Better then Dino Charge?
Delfim Neves I’d say it’s very close between the two, but I do think I enjoyed Beast Morphers a little bit more than Dino Charge. I love both though.
Dino Charge is good but man Super Charge really hurts it.
From what I'm seeing Blaze and Roxy are like Tenaya, snarky, fun, with a touch of humanity that distances them from the other robots around them. This time though Blaze and Roxy are better acted.
Evil Roxy was honestly the most entertaining thing about the series. It's a shame that when she came back in season 2, she wasn't nearly as entertaining.

I recommend SPD, RPM, and Jungle Fury some of the absolute best seasons overall and the best since the Big 4 after Turbo.

Steel is best character, literally he had no flaws what's so ever, steel has the confidence of what every ranger needs, the bravery of what every ranger needs, and he thinks great about himself, I respect steel, he is one of the character's I actually likw
@@Lucid5630 Honestly, of the rangers, Steel was the only one I got attached to. The rest of the rangers were fine, but there wasn't anything about them that stuck with me like with other classic ranger teams. They're all kinda...bland?
Unlike my favorite season of all time, RPM, which had 6 characters that had distinct enough personalities for me to invest myself in. It helped that each one (aside from Dylan) had at least 1 backstory episode to really flesh them out. Some of them were done better than others, but they were all at least decent. In comparison, even after a whole season with the Beast Morpher rangers, I still don't really know what's up with their personalities. I guess Zoey is the environmentalist, but that only comes up in like one episode and never again. Ravi...cares about his girlfriend? Not really a character trait. Devin...'s dad is the Mayor...also not a character trait.
But Steel and Roxy are the two characters that make this season worth watching for me.

Kinda off topic, but I kinda hope that Hasbro takes PR and brings it to a streaming site like Netflix or whatever after the contract with Nick is up.
Feels like Nick is handicapping the series in certain areas, especially with the lack of advertising.
That would be so much better than having to wake up at 5AM, which I don’t anyway, I wait until it’s on Netflix instead.

Also their show the Witcher recently became more streamed than Disney Pluses Mandalorian which is pretty big because Mandalorian was getting more attention than Stranger Things and The Witcher came in and became higher in viewership than Mandalorian. So they're doing pretty good right now.
@Rodrick Young They didn't really mess up people try to cancel netflix all the time and within the year when it's something they want to watch they come right back. These same people did a Cancel Netflix petition because of the show Good Omens even though it's not even a Netflix Show it's on Amazon.
@Rodrick Young It will not, people will say they will cancel netflix and they might but when Netflix gets some new hit that everyone is talking about they will re activate their netflix account like they always do and come back to watch that. You're really overestimating people's convinctions with streaming services because they can go back on their word within a snap of their finger.

disney era power rangers fine, I do sound like that even to me, but contrary to what it sounds like, I’m not saying that they should reprise their role or attend conventions left and right or make fan-films like the fans or plaster it all over social media, but the least they could say (and sound like it) is Thank You.

Beast Morphers has been really fun so far. I love the characters (Rangers and villains). I love the suits, weapons and zords. And even when an episode is kind of generic and cheesy, those things I love bring the material to a higher level of enjoyment. I also like how they ditched/changed up the whole "monster gets blown up and then grows giant" with the Robotron/Gigadrone concept. I like having half the team on the ground fighting a Robotron while the others are in the zords fighting the Gigadrone. I mean, it isn't that much different from past versions. But it is different enough.
Nate’s Zord reminds me of the days when the red rangers zords had battle modes

Not really a refference. They don't have the word suits so they have to adapt the footage but the GB logo is everywhere so they had to rationalize it.

Beast Morphers is not perfect, far from it, but it is definitely a step in the right direction. I found myself honestly surprised with how much I like these characters and i want to learn more about them. I'm actually invested in this story and I hope season 2 is even better!
biggest problem so far is the motivation of evox. Why does he want the morphin grid, how does he know about it, and where tf did he come from?

@@disneyerapowerrangers2923 Thats actually not true. There are villains or seasons where its not even a talking point. Scorpious and Treakeena for example didn't know. The villains of light speed didn't know either. The only villains that blatantly knew were zedd, rita, and their shitty son in overdrive. I almost forgot Venjix but I think thats about it.

I love this season, it's one of my favorites and I would put it next to the Disney seasons more than neo saban. I love all of the characters even Ben and Betty, the stories that they all have and relationships with all the characters surrounding them. The villains are great and I like how they were the ones who kept things interesting in the background, always having smart plans and sometimes even trying again when things didn't go right the first time.
I personally prefer to love the newer seasons than keeping the old on a pedestal cause I would rather rewatch the newer seasons than older outdated ones

I love how steel is a very good counterpart to J from go busters, they are both the comic reliefs for their shows. Both do the comedy in a different way, but these suit the themes that both shows are going for
Your review kinda revealed something I hadn't entirely noticed. See, I'm working on my own Beast Morphers (S1) summary, so the numbers are fresh in my mind. Three 5/5s. 16 episodes 4/5 or higher. Beast Morphers is chock FULL of excellent episodes. BUT...I'm not sure how much I thought of the story as a WHOLE. It's a season of amazing moments and great performances, but I don't know if I'd say it's story from start to finish is STELLAR. It's good, I like it...but it is a little safe, a little plain overall.
One area I would disagree with you is Zoey, specifically because I had the same issue with her as you did but for the exact opposite reason. No, I don't think they really spent all that much time focusing on her feelings for Nate...AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. We got at least two episodes establishing Nate has feelings for Zoey. The other way? THAT ONE EPISODE. And heck, since we don't even learn until the end that Zoey was setting things up, it's really just that one MOMENT.

I mean, I feel like if you love Steel in Beast Morphers. You will get twenty-fifty times more enjoyment with Beet J Stag in Gobusters.
Big funny thing about this season is that actors. Megaforce diet work because of the writing and acting, although the former didn't help the latter I bet, and Ninja Steel was hit or miss. If Liana Rodregez was a bad actress, the villain\hero dynamic would be less Ransik and Wes and more Troy and evil Robo Knight.
I had my doubts on this series until I watched the first season on Netflix. It's pretty dope.
Well, let's hope that season two is as good as season one of Beast Morphers.

But, given the fact that Go-busters' second half (Episode 28-50) was already ruined because of a sudden change in the show's tone thanks to a bunch of dumb-ass parents' complaints about the show being "too dark and realistic for the kiddies!!" We shouldn't have to worry all that much about the story being messier in adaptation since the damage of the show was already done years before Hasbro even bought the rights to Power Rangers.

Few of the beast morphers actors said that s2 will be insane and better than s1.
I'm going be bold honest i really enjoy Beast Morphers season 1. I enjoy the storyline, character development, villains and really did enjoy the cliffhanger setup for season 2 which may i say season 2 of Beast Morphers definitely going good so far.

Another kids' action show that glosses over its implications is The Sarah Jane Adventures. In the first two-parter, the villains disable all light and electricity in the world, and a main character (who's like twelve) kills the headteacher (who's a villainous alien) at the start of the school year. Lasting consequences? What are those?
There are barely any UA-camrs who review live action kids' shows, and those that do tend to focus on a single company, like Schneider's Bakery or Toei. Most TokuTubers I watch mainly talk about Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.
I like one (sort of) behind the scenes aspect; Andrew Laing's credit as Evox. To hide the fact he is actually Venjix, they credited him as Randall Ewing but it's also the same surname as Daniel Ewing who played Dillon in RPM. I like to think that was done intentionally as a retroactive wink-wink.
I remember seeing a live show of this call Go Go Busters back in Japan a couple years before this was aired in the US as Power Rangers when I was little
This is the only new season I can watch without cringing. Idk. It just feels like how power rangers used to be but also how it should have evolved. Didn't expect a netflix whim to become a binge.

This is the most watched Power Rangers season so far no matter for kids or whatnot. Not as bad as RPM, but so far, it's where the plot and the battle scenes based on Go-Busters got it right. This series is a greenlight since Hasbro era begins with. Beast Morphers is a good series in some point. I enjoyed in the first episodes. Season 2 is coming and I hope it'll be better as Season 1.
Not great but good, largely good characters along with some genuinely good story, Ravi could be hit or miss for me depending on the given episode though and I too wished zoe could have more focus placed on her, fingers crossed for s2

So what I’m getting here is beast morphers is basically sandbox for video game it not meant to be a very story driven show but it’s character and the wacky stuff that happens makes it better
I don't know where your getting the "loose plot threads" thing because I don't see many. The one you raised about Mayor Daniels being against the rangers idea I didn't want to see carry through. Because it becomes real easy to go to really stupid clichés when you have a character like that.
Also the "implications" are you reading into things too much, it's a kids show genius any kid watching will just think Ravi misses her a lot when they see him drawing her.
I just like how the openings are slowly phasing out the basic "Go Go Power Rangers!" by adding an extra "Go!" or changing the pace to just go by fast and not be the main focus of the op.
On a good note, it'll hold up more than the added lyrics in Dino (Super) Charge and (Super) Ninja Steel's trying to be hip openings and the roll call theme songs of the (Super) Samurai and (Super) Megaforce days.

I actually think a beast morphers is the best season of Power Rangers we had since RPM. It's got a very likable cast of Rangers. Interesting stories. And very mature themes. And all I have left to say is I hope toqger gets adopted next.
I've got to agree. Beast Morphers is hardly perfect, but has such likeable characters, including the villains, that I can't help but have fun watching it.
It's got to be the only villain group where everyone but Evox or Vargoyle are likable. Sure, you have funny villains like Divatox or Zedd after his revamp and you have relatable villains like Random and to some degree Lothor but never likable per sei. And no, post Time Force Ransik doesn't count because by that time he was no longer a villain and was more a antihero or Ranger ally.
It does have some issues but it's honestly the best Power Rangers in like a decade. It's actually one of my most favorite seasons it's easily in my top five I absolutely adore it.
Beast Morphers is ok, I don't think it's bad by any means, but it certainly has a charm to it.
I am biased though because I've personally been ruined by how good and deep go busters was that I find beast Morphers almost hard to watch.

A company that tells stories to sell toys doing good with a show that tells stories to sell toys is not surprising to me. I think PR is in good hands

Also even know I would rather have a completely new theme then just another version of go go power rangers, I do like how little parts of the original theme is in the background music but it's not that notable

I think the reason the season is a good start is cause more than anything its enjoyable to watch, and after the neo saban era it's a great change
Something I actually want Hasbro to do is to turn HyperForce into an animated show with the original cast reprising their roles. It would make it much more widespread since not everyone likes to watch tabletop games.
I like the story arc of the show and I absolutely love how racially diverse the PR team is this season but the acting can be a bit better I'm really trying to give it a chance because I know this is an ownership transition season. I am looking forward to what Hasbro will do for the future
I don't why but every time I hear something to the affect of "I love how it is so racially diverse!" I just can't help but cringe, I'm a black guy myself and I just can't help but wince every time I hear or see someone say that
Will, my problem with it is they say that like its new but power rangers was always diverse since the beginning.
I tried the first episode or so, but couldn't get past the awkward writing and acting. But, it sounds like it may be one of those shows that once you get to Episode-X, it takes off. So... I'll give it another shot. :)
(I felt the same about Mystic Force, and when I went back to watch it the second time I realized how much I enjoyed it)

Hi Disneybrain I love your PR videos as 90s kid I grew up on the originals and have watched all of your season analytic/theatrical reviews up to Ninja Steel and noticed one missing and one of the only good ones and my personal favorite to come out of the Neo-Saban era and that his Power Rangers Dino Charge/Supercharge I was wondering if there was one coming anytime soon because I would enjoy your take on it. Ik you're busy but it would be awesome if you replied not saying you need to but I'm just very curious about it.

I've only watched the first four episodes so far, but I still think Roxy is the best character. She has the best facial expressions and the emotional core.

Beast Morphers to me is a season to put the feet down and start to grow. I haven’t seen all the episodes but Blaze was the best part for me. Hoping the next series of it is even better and maybe they can get a better time slot for the show
Funny I joke by the way, the delivery guy from "Real Steel" is Daniel Watterson, the guy who voiced Drilltron two episodes prior in the episode "Thrills and Drills."
2022 is the year Hasbro takes all the control and if Skyfire gives me an idea, new toys will be made and maybe an animated series, no more partforming dammit!

Can we just appreciate that they got rid of the dumb bully comic reliefs in favour of kind hearted and clumsy comic relief. The show having such positive elements even with small characters such Ben and Betty being likeable characters does it a massive favour. It’s not perfect but it’s clearly got its heart in the right place and hopefully Season 2 being Hasbro’s first full season we’ll see them stretch their legs
I agree a lot with what you had to say here, since most of beast morphers felt very neo sabanish with a bit of Hasbro, but what made the season was how the episodes were handled, yeah usually they had plots that aren't resolved with new ones being introduced, but I really didn't mind since when watching this season I saw it more as a test run than it's own flourished project, and while watching this I came up with something interesting, every character has an opposite, well I mean that each character is a coin, like devon and blaze are 2 sides of the same coin with many attributes that they share but with their personalities being executed in vastly contrasting ways, like almost every character has that dynamic, like scruzzle and Nate, but when thinking of this how does this apply with the blue ranger, since there are 4 main villains, and there are 5 rangers, something to think about
