Samuel Pierre not gonna lie, I thought Carter was boring when I first saw lightspeed as a kid. Rewatching it, dude is freaking awesome, easily in one of the top 5 red Rangers in my opinion, both in and out of ranger he's a freaking badass.

Perfect choice for best Red Ranger. Time Force is probably the best Power Rangers series, mainly because it has argueably some of the best rangers. Sure people say In Space is better but that was the culmination of several seasons, including the original, yet Time Force was able to accomplish much of the same emotion and character In Space did with just ONE season. That is something truly impressive.

Wile wess is my favarite red ranger i will argue in favor of SPD, it have a best overall team, even if i can name 9 red rangers bether than jack.
Overally I think that Time Force, RPM and In Space are the best Power Rangers seasons but all from completelly different reasons.
- Time Force: best villains, best relationship, best red ranger, best pink ranger
- RPM: backstories and how they connect with present, dark tone due to serious stakes, best mentor, acting, jokes
- In Space: biggest plot twist, biggest finale
Also all of them had interesting stories, plot twists, well developed characters, introduced something new (time travel, post apocalyptic alternative world, space with taking characters out of school).

I knew Wes would be #1, but I always found Casey to be my favourite red ranger as a kid (since I grew up with jungle fury) and he’s still my favourite red ranger to this day. I agree with what you said for him because I also love the way his character was written in jungle fury’s story going from student to teacher (helping the other characters grow) and finally master.
Another reason why he was my favourite was his scene with Whiger when trying to save his team in the episode “The Spirit of Kindness”. Not only did Whiger steal Casey’s tiger spirit, he still ends up sparing his life after he tries to destroy him a second time since Whiger lost his rinsen power after Dai Shi took it. Then he trusts him to the point where he WILLINGLY let Whiger take his spirit in order to give him the strength needed to help finish the fight against Camille(plus the scene where both red and white tiger spirits attack together as one was awesome and really beautiful). When Whiger is about to die Casey asks him why he helped him instead of trying to destroy him; he responds by saying that Dai Shi proved to be his enemy and Casey proved to be his friend. Then he fades away after making Casey swear that he’ll destroy Dai Shi for all tigers.
This is the small scene that I don’t think fans of jungle fury talk about much but I personally found it to be quite touching. The idea of on enemy taking your power, finding the strength to beat him, then they lose their power and try to finish you off but still ends getting their life spared by you. At which point they agree to help you in battle; and when they reach a turning point, you trust them enough to let them take some of your power in order to finish off an enemy by combining your strengths and end up winning. Then when all is said and done they fall in your arms where you ask them “why?” And they respond with you proving to be an equal and a friend; afterwards they sometimes give what’s left of their power to you and they make you swear to end the big bad, and with that they pass on knowing you will finish the fight.
I agree with you on the fact that jungle fury doesn’t get the recognition it deserves because it manages to give us great characters, a wonderfully well crafted story...and some great lessons that I still hold till this day. I like you said I don’t think we’ll ever see a ranger as tightly written as Casey Rhodes “the Jungle Fury Red Ranger” ever again.
Why he did it ? , that’s because he has a good conscience and he has a good honor code 😊.

Too many people blinded by nostalgia, shouting Jason and Tommy. I love those two and I love MMPR, but we really have to stop pretending it was peak PR and the best out of the franchise.
This is his list and I respect it. I myself would switch a few around, but I'm glad Brain doesn't just go with the common fan vote without being actual critical.

Personally I think prefer carter but they are definitely very close in my mind and it’d take me a good pros and cons thing to make me decided. But I do agree that he is top 2 at minimum. They should really use him more. I’d love the occasional Wes and Eric team up episode since they are publicly known and very much active. It wouldn’t surprise if every few series we had a wild force situation where they happen to run into them because of an attack on their city.

I marathoned the entire series two years ago and absolutely hated Time Force. I seriously struggled to get through most episodes because I hated nearly all of the characters (OMG did I hate the Pink Ranger! And I wanted to punch Wes in the face every time he appeared!) Seriously the acting was so bad, especially at the beginning of the show!
Time Force is still the all-time worst PR show for me, beating out Overdrive, Samurai, Ninja Steel, and Wild Force. I would happily watch Mystic Force or Mega Force over Time Force any day of the year.
Leo has been my number 1 for years lost galaxy and time force are really hard series to top I hope we can get something of that caliber in the future rangers
ShiningT1g3R you really are in the minority there bud. Time force Red and pink are considered the two of the best rangers of their colour. Time force is also considered to have some of the best acting of the whole series

It's interesting that fans think Jayden is worst. I mean, in Super Sentai version, Takeru is claimed badass and fans admire him. SS and PR version both very similar, almost same. I wonder why Jayden and Takeru valued differently?

My favorite thing about Wes is how he's allowed to experience the entire emotional range throughout the series more impactfully than most. I absolutely love the trope of the Jovial Sunshine Boy FINALLY blowing a fuse at people who are assholes to them for no reason, in this case in End of time Part 2 when he tells Eric to get over himself because if he doesn't, they'll both die
I 100% agree with this list. Wes was an amazing ranger he literally made Time Force which was an amazing series by itself.

Absolutely agree on the top three, all three had some of the greatest moments in power rangers history and are the most relatable and inspiring Rangers throughout the Rangers franchise.
As good of a Red Ranger Carter was, I've always found the best rangers to be those who rise up against the odds and prove themselves to be a great ranger. Carter just seemed like he was made in a lab to be the ideal ranger. The personal struggles of rangers like Jack, Casey, Leo, and Wes have always been what made them great rangers in my opinion which is why I always felt like a character like Carter would have made an amazing mentor character but never a captivating ranger. Even Tommy, his entire ranger career was almost an act of redemption for all his mistakes under Rita's control with his best moment being his battles against his inner demons, both literal and otherwise.
Cole really has a depressing story in reality.

@giftofgab247 I do like Carter, he probably is #2 for me. I also like Wes, mainly because he started out not being the greatest red, but had good growth throughout his season. Tommy despite popular opinion was never a big favorite of mine, I much preferred him as green or black.
@giftofgab247 even with White Ranger Austin was set to remain leader, but he, Walter and Thuy decided to leave after the physical filming, but before the voice overs. That's why for as many episodes as we see Austin in after White Light, he still leads the morphing call (except when we first see Tommy as White to let the new ranger shine). Zordon's original line was "are you pleased with the sixth member" instead of "new leader"

Casey is one of my all time fav rangers!!! I frickin love him!! I love Jungle Fury too and think it is so underrated but casey has so much character development and is such a cool character and it makes me so sad that jungle Fury was only two seasons away from getting a "Super" title and that is all we get
Wes was awesome but Eric's rivalry with him felt forced. I feel like the anger was one sided and Wes was kept clueless and well-intended which made Eric's anger towards him feel selfish.

This list was amazing, even though you ranked them, it still felt like they all were number 1 in their own right. Personally m number 1 is Leo and right after him is carter then Jack, not sure where id put the rest. Also im so glad you talked about how slept on Jason is, when Tommy came in it kind of annoyed me how sidetracked Jason was as the leader of the group.
Great list. There's a few I would change (excluding order). For example, I would have put Shane in the list and Cole as an honorable mention, but that is my personal choice.

What made Scott great for me is that he could've just accepted the medal, and learned nothing. After all, he finally got his father's attention...
But no, he didn't accept it. He gave it back to his father, because he KNEW that he did that mission for selfish reasons, and he knew that one day, when he does earn it, he will accept it. But right now, he doesn't deserve it.
Good thing about Jason, he made one of the best sixth rangers too.
I have not watched all the power rangers series but Wes definitely number 1 for me. Cole would be a very close second. The reason is Wes is extremely confident and inspite being so wealthy, he always cares about people and their emotions. Extremely matured in his decisions and the fact that he just plans and sends away his team back to the future knowing the consequences he had to face and his courage to fight single handedly in that last episode till his last breath shows his leadership qualities. All these are enough qualities to make him best leader and red ranger. Cole almost has the same qualities. So he would be second.

I've not seen Lightspeed Rescue, so I will not speak harshly of this "Carter". However, the stories of Wes, Casey, and Leo, are very similar; the story of someone who is thrust into a situation that they arguably should not be in, and not only rising to the occasion, but thriving. Wes even fought an entire army by himself as time itself was breaking apart at the seams, and then without taking a break, fought against Ransik with the rest of the team. And even after all that, he continued to defend the city as a Silver Guardian. That's nothing to scoff at.

I completely agree with ranking. What I like most is the closer to number one red ranger you see that they aren’t teenagers they are fully developed adults and we can focus more on the ranger role more as their job rather than it be a responsibility cast onto them

I will say Casey from Jungle Fury, Leo from Lost Galaxy, and Andros from in space are my top 3. They had great stories and a great foundation for all 3 to shine in. All 3 had to grow from where they started and did, all 3 had unique challenges that they needed to grow from through the season to be the best they could be.

4. Andros (selfless, and had to make the hard choice to kill Zordon)
5. TJ (but I prefer him as Blue Space.)

Wes is my favourite His Ark, I am able to relate to him alot. Especially with his father-Son ark and Him being a Rich kid who was handed everything. I love the message of "You Determine Your Own Destiny".

For me Cole from Wild Force will always be my number 1 because of two reason :-
1. Nostalgia
2. His care for his zords making them feel like an equal rather than a mean to an end
You described Scott really well. I think that was my problem with Scott. I found him and Dillon too similar and I chose to back up Dillon. But when I started rewatching rpm I grew to appreciate Scott a lot more. I still prefer Dillon over Scott but now Scott is higher.
I'd swap TJ for Conner, but not by much. TJ is a top 10 Ranger regardless of color. The episode where he helps out Bulk and Skull won me over. Parts in Parcels is the episode I think.

Also, I think while I generally don't count reds in my favourites, Jack is up there for one simple reason - everyone was telling him, steering him to work in SPD because his parent(s) did... and yet he decided "no, this isn't for me - I want to make a difference still, but in my own way" and he went out and did it.
Respect for a dude who knows what he's best at and does it despite their authority figures saying it's a bad idea.
Wes also, for the choosing of your own destiny thing... but also I adore that moment near the end of the series where Eric is still going on about how different he is from Wes and Wes grabs his arm to compare their morphers and basically tells Eric to stop talking rubbish already, not in a gentle way but in a way that suggests that he's tired of Eric's need to distance himself. He's telling Eric that his old coping method that got him this far is now holding him back.

I wanna point out that Jason was the OG Leader of the power rangers. He himself was the one who brought down Tommy who was extremely close in exterminating the Rangers before Tommy was given the Leadership. They call Tommy a Legend in really Jason is a legend. JDF is awesome but you have to admit Austin needs some love too.

Something I dont get is how exactly is jungle fury underrated? Back then yeah theres no question about that, but now more and more ranger fans agree that its a pretty damn good series and Casey is definitely a ranger that makes it in the top five.
I think the best thing about Carter Grayson, above most other Red Rangers, bar the repeat rangers who moved on to the next season, was that he was already a hero BEFORE he got the morpher, and he was still as humble and kind as he was.
I was pleasantly surprised and glad to see that Wes got your #1 spot. I originally thought your top 3 would be 3) Casey, 2) Wes, and 1) Carter.

Edit: also Brain I'd add that Carter slowly becomes a fuller person through captain mitchell by growing to not always be the hero and to enjoy life as well. Which Wes ironically has a bit of an opposite, becoming more serious from the rich kid.

Gemma maybe wes, what you mean is superficial progression istead of development realy. Its show that he is inportant in some sort of rangers comunity and open possibilitys for his devolment but itself dint do much with it.

This is a good list and all, but brain, when are we getting that top 10 greens remake
I can't say I totally agree with your list, but find a lot of points you made to make sense. I also can not thank you enough for not putting Tommy as #1, or even on the top 10. It's so overdone and overly cliche. I think there are many other leaders that truly outshine him, most of whom are on your list. Now... let's begin. :D
For me I would have to say... In order of 'worst of the best' to the 'best of the Best.'
10. Andros. He was flawed. Oh so flawed, but he took a team under his wing, taught them how to be space faring rangers, and how to follow a new leader without much resistance from TJ, who was a now former red ranger in his own right, and led a team in one of the best season finales of all time... despite the series being one of the most hated in Turbo. He, Andros managed to see the good in his sister when no one really wanted to, and because of that, his sister was able return in a future season as a ranger in her own right thanks to him not giving up on her.
9. Jason. Smart, kind, empathic to the feelings of those around him more than most other reds in my opinion. He was a lot more chill as a leader, but a good leader all the same. You didn't have as many people challenging his leadership outside of Tommy. He didn't let relationships cloud his judgement or impede his abilities as Tommy somewhat did in Zeo.
8. Leo. He was obviously on the younger side, and a bit more innocent. He faced off against monsters that petrified a planet shortly after losing his brother, yet still persevered. He pushed forward, despite having thought his brother died. He fought hard to prove himself worthy of the power left to him by his brother and thus tried to be a leader and ranger his brother could be proud of despite all of the challenges and internal conflict.
7. Carter. Carter was a great leader. He was a sharpshooter. He had failings and was surprised to find out about them more than he should have been. He thought he was the perfect hero, but was heartbroken to find he was actually not the hero he thought he was. It was only through the mentorship of Captain Mitchell that Carter came into his own. I am not putting down that Carter BECAME an amazing leader, but his journey took a bit longer, and was a bit more of a challenge than most. One of his biggest challenge was knowing how to have restraint. Once he learned that, I believe that was when he truly became a 'great' red ranger. Eg. Being told not to shoot at the Titanium ranger when he showed up. Carter seemed truly torn about not taking that shot. The fact that he followed that order showed how much inner strength he had gained over the course of the season so far.
6. Tyler... Okay, I know this is a bit of an odd choice, but hear me out. Tyler was on a journey to find his father and found others who were equally as lost, but in their own way. He managed to lose command of his team to his future girlfriend at every turn, and was all 'about that bass.' (LoL. Okay, Joke answer for Six, but I did love Tyler as a red ranger. Just maybe not one of the best) The best way I can honestly describe tyler as a red was that he had the charisma to be a TRUE spiritual successor to Jason in MMPR. He had a charm that said, hey all, lets work well together. But without a commanding presense. In a way, similar again, to Jason.
5. Wes Collins. Wes fought tooth and nail to get out of his father's shadow, and to prove to Jen, AND Eric that he was no pampered pretty boy. He was not the money hungry shark tha his father was, and that he had the heart of a hero. He worked his way up by doing odd jobs which a lot of rich people might consider beneath them. He was a bit arrogant at times, but he also know when to step up his game such as when he first challenged Jen in a spar and she handily whipped his... posterior. (haha). Wes didn't let the love he developed for the pink ranger dictate his actions too much either, again, putting the team, and the world first, despite being willing to move heaven and Earth to keep her safe if possible. Ie, sending her and her friends back to the future.
4. Loren... Yes I went there. I was not, and am not a huge fan of Samurai in any way, shape or form, however... It still had it's moments. One such moment was Loren. Lauren was the true leader and head of the shiba house, the ranger / samurai leadership in this iteration of rangers. Well, someone had popped in-in her stead, as Wes did for Alex in Time Force. The big difference was that when Loren showed up, she didn't try to boss anyone around. She was humble, and even allowed them to test her. The green ranger Mike was warned that she was a red ranger and leader of the house for a reason. It might be unwise to test her. She seemlessly flowed into her role as leader while trying to be empathic to the feelings of loss of her brother's position as leader of the team. She showed great wisdom in knowing how to lead, and a greater wisdom in knowing when to step down to allow her brother the position where his friends and mentor were already used to, and more well adjusted to having him. She was the first female 'cannon' team red, not counting the A Squad Red as they were not a show's lead team.
3. Connor, same as what Brain Said.
2. Casey... Okay, Same as Brain with 2 additions. He TRAINED HIS TEAM! He started as the weak new cub to leading his team to greatness. Episode 27 starts the episode with training and team building excercises with Casey telling 2 members of his team to knock off the goofballery' and even RJ, their master, and resident wolf ranger even acknowledged that casey had the whole sensei thing 'on lock.' Casey was also someone who was unsure of himself at first which hampered his ability to morph. It also blocked his path to master until he pulled past it. He did finally pull past it, and became one of the series best red rangers.
1. Scott. Ranger Operator Series Red, Power Rangers RPM! :D Scott was an air force pilot. He knew chain of command. When he did become a ranger, he demanded those under his chain of command to follow orders. He was a bit hard headed, but he was one of the ONLY red rangers to give orders and not 'ask' people to do things and give them a chance to say no. Fortunately he didn't have a team of 'yes men' and they challenged where needed, but the fact remains that Scott was also willing to listen, even if he didn't like what they had to say. He was angry and had a lot of things to work through from losing his brother in a mid air dog fight. He had to deal with his father not believing in him and not thinking he was ready. His pride had to take a massive hit or two, but even during all of this time, he still persevered and still kept his team in check where there was a lot of room for things to go wrong... and things to go BOOM. While Scott couldn't forsee ever problem, he was analytical, and thought things through. He didn't just go along with what their mentor Doctor K said. He made damn sure that HIS team would be as safe as possible, most likely due to the memory of having lost his brother in recent years.

Actually, Tommy qualified for three different lists - 6th Ranger, Green/Black, Red - and it was mentioned in... Sixth Rangers, I think - that he would only be considered for one. Besides that, he did receive his own video not too long ago.
@@jackwells8107 hey good evening. Wasn't putting Tommy down in any way, I just feel that he is supersaturated. Overly saturated to be honest. That's all I was pointing out.

he's overly saturated, because he was that good. he deserves every bit of that saturation, as well as Jason david frank for being a part of power rangers as much as he possibly can be.
@@tjfrye11 We all have our own opinions. In this case, I have to say that they just put Tommy on a pedestal as if he is a 'ranger deity,' and it's a little weird. Anyway, I don't dislike his character. I just think the franchise is better when it isn't the 'Tommy Show,' like in the last anniversary special.

I may have some differing opinions on the rankings for this list but I like how wholesome and reasonable your points are. After being reminded again about all the older series, I totally understand why Wes is your top pick. Respect.
I’m surprised and not surprised at all that Wes was number one. He is such an awesome character and more as we’ve seen here and in the series. I love the whole Time Force season in general. Casey and Leo were some of my favorites too.
