The Casey cameo was cool and Megaforce should've been like that for most of the show. It should've been like Gokaiger where a past character/actor shows up in an episode
That's cause Hiam Saban was a right cheep bastard, according to Ciara Hanna they only had $1 million per episode and for a mordern TV show that's about as helpful as the budget for the orignal star trek series which is what tv shows now spend on craft services
@@vasyear I respect Haim Saban for giving us the Power Rangers franchise but he's literally hindering it. The Neo-Saban era is a huge example and it doesn't help that he's basically a millionaire. Dude could at least put in more care since he's rich
I agree on the many missed opportunity but not on the other half with the not enough cameos. But we all know that's not true. Especially when flying ranger actors from other seasons to take part in this season to actually DO something more than just stand around looking for something to jump right in. Talk about wasted time and money! Want my advice: watch the Megaforce portion of Linkara's History of the Power Rangers and you'll learn more about that and so much more? You'd walk away with so many things you never thought you've had.
It’s the fact that the pirate powers weren’t their own season, for me. I did not want to see the mega force rangers again. I wished they gave us a new story, new characters, etc. the sheer class of Gokaiger and the suits was absolutely butchered by these guys
If not it’s own season make it like in space where super mega red is someone else that followed the armada and ends up recruiting 4 of main team and later the remaining ranger left behind returns as silver. That way you could also reassign colors to better fit the characters. Troy would’ve been a much better sword guy with Noah fitting more with doc as the teams tech guy.
I know right like at least lost galaxy has a cosmic theme instead of being nature themed like gigiaman, meanwhile megaforce and super megaforce didn't have a theme at all.
There is a fun fact by the way. There are deleted scenes where we learn that Troy’s dad left for the military. Maybe it’s possible that the genericness that he had would’ve been revealed to be a result from losing his father. However the scenes were cut most likely due to time.
he was told to act emotionless by someone who worked on the show, idk if it was the writers or director or saban himself, idk but he was told by someone to act emotionless and super serious all the time
@@cobraedits1360 that was what my theory involved. That the idea might've been that his father leaving effected him badly hence the emotionless and serious performance. As a bonus there was to be a chosen one thing for him, with remainments being the golden glow get gets at times, especially the last fight with Robo Knight.
Um, I don't think those are deleted scenes. I'm pretty sure they were proposed storylines & character backstory stuff, but they didn't get around to actually writing them into the show. I think that the actors & writers would've stated that they shot scenes centered around those kinds of things if they actually did.
Super Megaforce was where I felt the wall was struck hard. The ending of Megaforce foreshadowed all the problems with Super. Specifically, it foreshadowed the Sentai footage padding. The production team's idea of management of the Sentai footage was to burn through it as much as possible. Then there are the New Powers. They're there. No lore, no worldbuilding. Even Vrak's return, what is considered to be a high point in the entire season, feels like a four parter squeezed into two.
yeah i know that a lot of folk hate Gokiger cause they see it as faping to nostalgia and even if that where Captain Marvalous (which my spelling is not) and co had to earn their new powers and In super megaforce Gosei said "you've unlocked new powers" to me even at the time i was asking "what is this an f$%^ing computer game?" and its ironic that 4 of the BEST episodes was written by an ACTOR!
You know what gets me? The "Gokai" suits just being super forms of the Mega Force powers takes all the identity away from the Pirate Theme. Like before when Rangers got new suits the old powers was lost. And the new ones had some sort of backstory or at the very least an explanation. You know. World Bulding. Super Mega Force is just. Yeah. Here new suits.
I used to think Robo Knight’s resurrection was a hallucination, because he only interacted with and was acknowledged by Troy. But then #BeastSpoilers happened, and I realized: The Morphin Grid let him go back to fight
Yeah, it did make more sense after watching Beast Morphers Season 2...though it was still kind of awkward. Guess that means the rest of the legendary rangers from Legendary Battle was just figments of the Morphin Grid then?
MKDemigodZ Warrior I’m not sure, especially considering the Rangers we saw help civilians unmorphed, but it would sure explain the ending of Spirit of the Tiger where he was somehow disappeared like he never worked at the zoo
What I believe is the theory that the rangers who fought in the Legendary Battle were the spirits of the rangers. To quote Linkara: "It sure explains where Roboknight came from."
I always viewd this season as the "god bless them their trying" season. Writers were trying to give original stories, actors were trying to create. Cinamatography was there, so thats a plus at least. But there was some one, some where holding them back from something good, desent at the least, and it showed. From the directing of the actors, to the sentai purest Tzacor, to Nickelodeon itself.
god. i feel sorry for the cast and the writers. after recently learning how badly were they screwed (even by toei's "YOU CANNOT SKIP GOSEIGER" order) i am just sad. i just hope the cast can one day return to the franchise and be given better treatment. i admire how gia's actress wasn't just done with the franchise after megaforce and regularly appear whenever they invited her if she could. like that trailer for the corssover with street fighter, that fan crossover she did with brendan mejia, or her appearing in dimensions in danger episode from super ninja steel.
@Ian R. Nava Huber "they're trying"? "Feel bad for the cast and crew" I find it very hard to agree on these ideas. They were NOT trying and the cast and crew should've spoken out about it instead of just going along with it. A series that actually deserves respect is Samurai and Super Samurai. Why? Megaforce and Super Mega Force had 4 whole years to do it, meaning at least 2 years per season. Samurai and Super Samurai on the other hand? They had 6 months. 6 MONTHS! That means Samurai and Super Samurai had to: 1. Translate the Sentai's script to English and figure out what plits to use and which to discard. 2. Find a cast. 3. Figure out which parts of Sentai footage they will use. 4. Film the English cast in their roles, both in and out of suits and zords. 5. Do voice work to dub over the Sentai footage. 6. Figure out where to intertwine the Sentai and Power Rangers footage together so it looks the same. All of this in a mere 6 MONTHS. It's a miracle they were even able to finish it and it NOT absolutely suck. To put that in perspective, Mega Force and Super Mega Force together had 8 times as long to do all that... and they STILL dragged their feet on it so had to rush at the last minute when they realized "oh, yeah. We were supposed to get around to that, weren't we? Better hurry then". I will NEVER forgive Mega Force and Super Mega Force for being such an absolute disgrace and middle finger to both Power Rangers fans, the franchise and Super Sentai itself. I can't even give it credit for the few good things it did because they're backhanded compliments at best.
@@autumbreeze1129 they actually tried to say something but they were shut up and ignored by executive producers and producers. ironically one of the reasons megaforce (and samurai) is what it is was because Tzachor (one of the main producers, wether executive producers or not i don't remember enough, but he was one of the main bosses behind both samurai and megaforce), apparently, was A Super Sentai Fan (my only source of info to confirm this is the "Fanboy" trope section in the TvTropes page of Linkara's History of the power rangers web series, especifically where it talks about megaforce). that he loved shinkenger and gokaiger so much that he wanted to keep as much of shinkenger's and gokaiger's original content and footage without altering so it would fit power rangers more. it would explain why in the power rangers episode "The Wrath" there is a "all team morph" morphing into Super Sentai suits EXCEPT Troy, who morphed into MMPR Red (and THE ONLY Reason why Troy would moprh into that instead of Sun Vulcan like in gokaiger footage, is because they can't legally use sun vulcan due to sun vulcan's rights outside asia (alongside Battle Fever J and Denjiman according to "The Wrath"'s entry in RangerWiki), are owned by MARVEL, therefore, owned by Disney, so those would be the only sentai the crew would always make effort into edit it out of footage) AND, besides of that, Tzachor rearely showed interest in whatever thing it was being done, and according to Gia's actress (at least accroding to Megaforce's Trivia Page (especifically in Creator's Apathy AND "Creator's favorite episode": tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Trivia/PowerRangersMegaforce)), the only episode that Tzachor apparently cared about to put effort was the "Amensiac Tensou" episode "The perfect storm". you know, that budget waster filler episode. Also, by the way, apparently Troy's "dull robotic" performance was mandate by Tzachor. it makes Samurai's efforts to at least give a "semi decent" show more imppresive, and make "Megaforce's" troubled production feel even worse because, at least with samurai they only needed to fit 1 show, while megaforce needed to fit 2 which just hurt production even more regardless of the additional time to plan things (alongside tzachor not wanting to change almost nothing from the gokaiger footage unless it was a mandate to avoid copyright infirgement)
@@autumbreeze1129 chill man, they did try, but people in charge, especially Jonathan tzachor, said otherwise. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen actors that probably have good acting just perform poorly or stiffly because of directors, just look at Samuel l Jackson in Star Wars. And honestly yes feel bad for the cast and crew, cause not only do they have to put up with their higher ups, they have to deal with raging fans that hate the actors because of the characters they play. Yes, this has happened, not every fan is like that, but there are those kinds of people out there that just hate the actor because of the character and at times ONLY that.
His name Troy. I really lightened up on megaforce though when I read the ever growing fan theory that the season wasn’t even real but just training for that team. Makes it a lot easier to swallow
well i began typing mine as soon as i hit play so i can comment on each point i need to when he makes them. but i posted after finishing. does that count? But Megaforce and S Megaforce are my 7th favorite series (i count both seasons as one series) so i wasn't ever going to be hating anyway.
Through watching a few sentai seasons and gokaiger specifically, just shows to me at least that for most sentai seasons it treats its audience with a lot more respect than compared most of the PR seasons. Granted they are both geared towards kids but sentai at least is willing to tackle more mature topics than PR ever could. The power rangers comics and shattered grid basically ruined regular PR for me, cause it just shows what it could be without network interferences and such.
It's why I like toku, anime, etc; even if it's made for kids the Japanese aren't afraid of death, violence, etc. while we get that series as a minority in Japan that's the majority.
@@rhaeasoul8531 We haven't really had it with western animation/live action kid shows since like 2004ish. thats when the last of the more mature kid shows ended.
@@kyleellis9177 I feel your nostalgia is binding you a bit here. Adventure Time despite the surface does tackle some complex themes and I guess you could add Steven Universe to that as well. Clone Wars was quite multi-faceted in how it showed the war and it's effects from a variety of different eyes. From planets that choose to stay neutral, some who simply do not want to fight, the concept of botherhood, and to question authority when they're not doing the right thing.
Not entirely sure on that considering stuff like in space, lost galaxy, time force, wild force even with how goofy it can be, SPD, operation overdrive somehow with Mac at the end, Jungle fury, RPM, even samurai had its moments. Yes theyre not as obviously shown as in the Sentai, but they still put in some ideas and writing that can feel heavy and at times dark.
y'all he's not even saying that super megaforce is a profound masterpiece that everyone should watch and just start loving all of a sudden, he's just saying that for all the disappointment that this season brings, there are still some great and enjoyable things that you can find here.
Some people find enjoyment in scat play but you won't be letting someone take a dump on you any time soon. XD lol sorry that analogy is what I use whenever someone brings up there is something good in a horrible experience point of view. Its obvious there is something as nothing is completely horrid to everybody but there is a reason the majority opinion is that it is bad.
Yeah, I suppose those are valid points. Though, to be fair, it would have been better had they "lost" the Megaforce powers and then Gosei gave them the Super Megaforce powers. That way, they didn't have to film the extra and very pointless footage with the Goseiger suits before they get into the Gokaiger footage. Anyhow, it is a good time to get back to Korra considering it's on Netflix now.
Yeah. Or as the threat grew their suit were permanently upgraded to use the legend powers. Megaforce woulfnt be powerful enough so gosei uses the morphing grid to make something that could use the new powers better.
Yeah I would've loved it if they lost their Megaforce powers and had to fight foot soldiers in civilian form because the super Megaforce powers were not ready yet, would've made for quiet a grim episode.
Noah's transition to the swordsman of Super Megaforce could've made a little sense if certain aspects were added to his character prior to SMF. They could've established Noah in Megaforce as a champion of the fencing team (or something similar, it doesn't even have to be a primary trait, just a hidden depth would suffice) or even a weapon enthusiast (which would give his fascination to Jake's Snake Axe more meaning). By the time the Armada invades, Argus can have the cliched trope of looking for the one warrior who can best him in combat and finds it in Noah. Noah will lose terribly but Argus wants him to improve (which can be followed by the "Blue Saber Saga" episode). The show can continue as is while further developing their rivalry, leading to the penultimate clash of swords.
A very interesting essay about this season and I appreciate the second look. By no stretch of the imagination is it the best season, but the cast and crew had to deal with what they had, which is no easy task. I might give this season a second watch and look at it through the lens of your videos. I respect the idea behind this series. Thank you for your perspective and may the power protect you!
I like the idea that all the gems you found here are related characterization and that the problems with lore and world-building, and the overt aspect of the anniversary, aka the manner in which the Gokaiger footage was adapted remain. Were that more overt aspect improved upon, combine that with the ideas behind the the characterizations of the cast, this really could have been a great anniversary.
Huh...so this is why some people prefer Megaforce to Ninja Steel...alright I’m intrigued 1. Gia having a love triangle is the best head canon I’ve ever heard. Dude I love you for this level of in depth 2. Geez, all Noah has to do to do is hook up with the blond glasses girl from Super Megaforce and he’d be a perfect Billy counterpart. 😂 I think they could’ve foreshadowed Noah being a swordsmen early on in season 1 by also having him being a weapons nerd too. 3. Troy should’ve had a...thanks for everything guys, after Robo Knight’s death to make it feel stand out. But yeah...that was really, really Damn good of an argument. I respect that. If only Tzachor didn’t hold up that big stick up his arse.
Augustus Freeman I know. I’ve heard some people say Ninja Steel is worse and while I disagree, I can understand why some say they know. I’m new but I’ve seen some of his videos here before, but thanks!
The love triangle theory he had was quite frankly terrible. No where did the show hint or even imply that Emma liked Gia, especially since they were hinting that Emma liked Troy and later on Orion. The reason Noah didn't get with the blonde glasses girl or got hinted to be good with weapons before Blue Saber Saga is because the writers didn't care about his character. The reason why Noah became a great swordsman is because of stock footage, the reason why he had a rivalry with Argus is because of stock footage, they even copy pasted the final fight between Jo and Argus' counterpart. At the end of the day Noah was just a combination of Billy, Hyde and Jo, he hardly felt like his character, and character didn't evolve as well. At times he's a stoic second in command, at times he's a great swordsman and at times he's a proxy of Billy. As a while it doesn't work and one of my major disagreements with his review of this show to be honest.
this was my comback to my franchise to me after last seaosn being RPM (i didn't watch samurai because back then, i didn't watch nickeoleond that much, but thanks to the fact megaforce was broadcasted in my country in cartoon network (and still is up to beast morphers), it gave me a chance to watch it (as i watched cartoon network back in the day. not a lot these days))
The thing that bugs me about the Dino thunder tribute or the SPD tribute is that there was no reason to tribute them. Samurai and Jungle fury at least a ranger appeared and wild force they went to the animarium and in RPM they went into Corinth. I feel like they half arsed adapted these episodes from gokaiger purely for the footage usage
Ok... so, obviously all the comments here are from people who haven’t watched the whole video. Look, Megaforce and SuperMegaforce are still bad, I’m not gonna say otherwise. But after listening to this an talk about it in both videos, I realized a bunch of things about the two seasons that were actually enjoyable. And I’m glad that he made these videos since he didn’t like how the first video on these season was the capitalize on the meme that “Megaforce did nothing”. Again, still bad seasons, but they aren’t the spawns of hell that everyone makes them out to be. Maybe watch the whole damn video first for Pete sake. I get hate gets you more likes and views but that’s really a sad notion
There's nothing wrong with people enjoying them or anything. The thing is that people aren't willing to at least find traits that WERE good about it. I want to clarify I don't care for the season personally but I do have traits I find neat. It just is a shame people don't want to consider more of the parts of the picture rather just one black and white answer that's treated as objective rather than subjective.
Taq Exactly. That goes at a lot of stuff in pop culture these days. If people make a claim about something, they don’t wanna even consider changing their mind or being open to something. Again, everyone has their own opinion, but ignorance and be closed minded ain’t the way to go
@@jevonniking4275 it's a shame that apparently opinions mean "agreed fact". Since it's interesting to talk about this stuff in a respectful manner especially if we have respectable differing views. I remember talking with someone who considers Troy their favorite red and that conversation really made me appreciate that angle more.
They're guilty pleasures to me, especially acting although Last Laugh is what I regard as one of the worst franchise ever made. Season 3 is much worse to me since, amongst other things, we had a Rastafarian ape stereotype, "aim near the heart where memories are kept", Alien Rangers, Stop The Hate Master, and A Friend in Need. I at least enjoyed Turbo like The Room, Season 3 is just hard to sir through.
I disagree with the take on Noah. I understand the point you were making, but feel like the show never actually connects those dots. All of Noah's sword aspects are only conveyed through Sentai footage. He has a sword fight because it happened it Gokaiger and his issues are present because it was Joe's thing. His fight with Argus only happens because of the connection between Joe and him in Gokaiger. Along with the random "Noah doesn't understand humor" episode, he just feels like a mash of traits based on the Sentai characters he represents.
And while that may be true to a degree, Power Rangers at its core is an Americanized Super Sentai (which is far from an insult). There way too many examples of characters that “only had arcs because their counterpart did”. Ban & Houji were constantly at each other’s throats, but that doesn’t take away from the fact Jack & Sky had one of the best character dynamics in Power Rangers, at least in my opinion
@@jaythashounen6643 Of course, but I think if that is what the show is going for, then they should make it work for their show. If it doesn't then work around it. I think that is what separates the times Power Rangers does this well and doesn't. Riley was a sword guy, and the wrote that trait into his character. Noah, by comparison is a byproduct of the show aggressively sticking to Sentai plots with no regard as to how to properly integrate those aspects into the show.
TheBleachj16 Idk man, as someone who watched all these shows years before they were ever adapted into Power Rangers, I just don’t see it. I genuinely feel like people just want something to complain about. Using SPD as an example again, that entire team are just Americanized versions of their Sentai counterparts. The parallels between Jack, Sky, Bridge, Z, and Sid & Ban, Houji, Sen, Jasmine, and Umeko, are way, waaaay too apparent. Jasmine & Z both aren’t even addressed by their real names for Christ’s sake!!! Watching Dekaranger for the first time after growing up on SPD felt like deja vu. But the reason no one talks about SPD’s lazy adaptation of Dekaranger, is because SPD is a beloved season, easily top 10 and would be top 5 if Jungle Fury & RPM didn’t... *exist*. However Megaforce is not that. You have to understand that when you don’t like something, you’re psychologically driven to see the worst in it. Know what else was a lazy adaptation of the source material? Time Force. But nobody is complaining that Time Force is, with slight alterations, effectively an English dub of Timeranger. Why? Because it’s otherwise a contender for best PR season of all time. We could take your reasoning to the next level and just write off the entire Power Rangers franchise, maybe with the exception of a few seasons. The Blue Saber Saga being “shoehorned” into Megaforce is nowhere near as bad as Gaoranger’s entire plot being almost re-enacted in Wild Force.
@@jaythashounen6643 Well I didn't say that being similar to Sentai is inherently bad. Just that it works to varying degrees. Jack and Sky having an arc because of Ban and Hojou is not the same because its differently for the show. It's not shoehorned in there simply because Dekaranger did it. I'm not even saying that SPD is perfect mind you, but that part of the show is there from jump. When it comes to Blue Saber Saga, what I didn't like was the fact that the episode is a complete random one off that contributed nothing to Noah. The episode is primarily beat for beat the Gokaiger episode with no changes to make it fit Noah. Noah gets upset about his sword skills because Joe, Emma is there because Ahim was there. Adding Jake or Troy would make more sense and could have connected to his first episode. I don't care if they copy Sentai. Just don't be lazy about it. Noah's issue is that the show is combining two different seasons while also sticking closely to both. So it creates these issues of character being inconsistent. I have the same issue with Noah suddenly not understanding humor in Megaforce.
TheBleachj16 To say that the episode did nothing for Noah is a total lie tho... You’re ignoring the nuance of Noah’s character. His first focus episode was dealing with his confidence issues, this episode dealt with building upon the superhero identity he now has. Could it have been done better? Of course it could’ve. Was it a decent episode that people only have something to say about it BECAUSE it’s from a season that they’ve made a “rite of passage” in the fandom to hate? Absolutely. Just because it was taken from Gokaiger with few alterations doesn’t mean it wasn’t impactful. Who CARES if they took it from Gokaiger? Samurai wasn’t bad because it was a copy of Shinkenger, Samurai was bad because of awful acting, worse characters, and a lackadaisically put together narrative. Again, if “ripping off Sentai” was a point of contention, then Time Force & Wild Force should be by right some of the worst seasons of Power Rangers. But they’re not. In fact, the opposite is true.
Super Megaforce should’ve been a season where the rangers study & research the past rangers. A MMPR Arc would be dope like say for instance the original power coins are on display at a national museum & the only way they can retrieve them is by going to Aquitar to find billy.
You know... I was about to write my fan made adaptation of gokaiger, but seeing this video I might consider some aspects you talked about. As always very interesting! And always inspires me to see series with other perspective
I would like it if they had Nic Sampson Did a appearance even a little cameo because he was in the studio doing the voice so they could have put him in for a cameo
I always considered Vrak the 'savior' of this series. Like how Mephiles was the 'savior' of Sonic 06. Vrak was by no means well-written, but he was so badass and entertaining that he made up for it.
Another well described Re Review! There was good stuff in that season & a lot of other stuff that should've been further explored. As well as maintaining elements from Mega Force. If written better, this not only would've have been about legacies but about a team of rangers that had been learning & growing, plus becoming legendary heroes in their own right.
*sighs* I need to watch Mega Force and Super Mega Force... seriously. Cause I can't ignore the possibility that there may be good in these seasons. Damn it...

Speaking of Megaforce, its bad quality is more because of how it's executed than its writing. As a show on its own, it's fine. But when you go down to it, you'll hate it more than you realize.
Alright, I haven't seen Megaforce or Super Megaforce, but you've convinced me to go give them a shot. I've always liked seeing the (at least believed to be) worst of a series and judging it properly
I did that with both series and while megaforce was just badly executed super was just as bad as when I first watched it. Then again I love gokaiger so all I can think is how much better gokaiger was in the same plot.
May God have mercy on your soul, megaforce is just trash. It has it moments, but overall disappointing series. You're better off just watching the Japanese versions. Gokaiger has a deeper meaning to it, especially of how it came to be after a real life tragedy.
Honestly, they should have used Basco footage for Vrak's return. To me, the worst thing about Super Megaforce isn't the fact they used non-PR suits. That would have been fine if they had 38+ episodes to work with. The worst part is that they did it when they only adapted Gokai in 18.
You should definitely finish Gokaiger, you'll notice that there's a lot of unused footage from gokaiger (partly because of the older sentai stuff but also partly just unused stuff that they could've just used) and theres a lot of themes they could've gone with and episodes they could've done and they just didnt. they really let the ball drop here, Super Megaforce is just the season of lost potential. just all of it, down the drain.
Agreed. Plus they at least played with the legendary ranger forms by having one color costume changes, which Super Megaforce didn't exactly use outside of Episode 1.
@@varietyhub2948 Basco's actor was even excited to see how his character would be adapted when the Power Rangers version was announced....shame they went so FUBAR
I feel like a lot of the people who dislike Megaforce were people who tuned in for anniversary content and were disappointed by the lazy writing. When people complain about Megaforce, they generally have pretty specific characters or moments that they hated or missed opportunities that bothered them. The frustration is shared but what bothered people seems to vary quite a bit. Meanwhile with a season like Operation Overdrive I feel like people tend to dog on the same HOPR points, like “oh Dax is annoying, Will is a thief, Once a Ranger SUX!” which leads me to think a lot of people haven’t actually watched that show and are just bandwagoning. I mean, yeah, OO is not exactly a great show, but I found it to be pretty inoffensive and I appreciated that it always seemed like OO was trying. So I appreciate videos like this, because it’s clear that discourse on shows can have a pretty major effect on how people perceive them. I still think Megaforce is a lacking season, but it’s good that there can be genuine discussion of its working elements, whether they were intentional or not.
Dax IS annoying. But I like Once A Ranger. It suffers like SMF does of having potential but not using it well. My biggest issue with Overdrive is I just strongly dislike the majority of the characters. The rangers never really gel as a team. For them it feels like they're coworkers coming to a job. They're quick to abandon that job as well. That's one thing in OAR that stands out to me. A random group of Rangers form a better team then the Overdrive rangers and they know it. Only Mack ever seems to be in this for the right reasons.
@@CassidyShadewing Haha yeah Dax definitely wasn't my favorite character, but I didn't find him too grating. That's a valid criticism though! OAR likewise is messy part of OO, I think the groundwork was there to make for an interesting special but it moved way too quickly for its own good. There needed to be more interplay between the 2 Ranger teams and the villains factions. If the writers had taken OAR as an opportunity for the Rangers to realize and reaffirm why they wanted to be Rangers and why it was important, I think that could've gone a long way towards repairing the team dynamic. Sadly that isn't what we got. As for the Rangers not geling, I kinda disagree. I do think they initially felt like co-workers and later work friends. But by the Mack reveal I felt like the team had become genuinely supportive of each other and meshed better. Perhaps it was too late to matter, but that's just the vibe I got.
@@CassidyShadewing Yeah, good reasoning. I hated OOD because of the lack of chemistry and i could never get into SPD either. Even if Smegaforce had untapped potential, i enjoyed everyones chemistry together. never a single scene of awkwardness. I really agree that Smegaforces worst problem was it was a C+ show but did nothing wrong, only failed to take advantage of everything they set up. so everyone could see generally the same things they never did. We could all see with a bit more effort it could have been B+ or A- easily and thats whats so sad.
@@kyleellis9177 I didn't really get into SPD til I did a rewatch of the series on Netflix. Disney really hurt that one with their scheduling and handling. But on the Rewatch I found myself enjoying it more then I did on intial airing. I had a similar reaction when I did the same with Samurai. Both series I originally didn't care for now both series that I like. Though still not great series, I feel they did actually do a good job within the limits they had to work with.
You really need to watch Gokaiger. Super Megaforce has its moments but i'm unable to enjoy this season like i used to (With its flaws) after watching Gokaiger.
That's how I feel. No matter how hard I try all I can think of is how great gokaiger handled the same arc. I mean why did Noah have such a rivalry with that cyborg? Ignoring gokaiger he was nothing special that Noah had to defeat alone.
I like gokaiger better in every way except cast chemistry. Megaforce's cast has some of the best i have seen on any show( excluding Orion it takes him a while to gel)
Well I mean I mean wth gokaiger not only were they already a team but they were all very different in general. It sounds like the beginning of a "walks into a bar" joke with how different their backstories are.
"so bootleg gokiger" so in other words Pirated Pirates!, say what you want about him I wonder how Super Megaforce would've been if Chip Lynn had been running the show and not Tzchaor
Love that you mentioned Emma and Jake competing for Gia’s affections, as I’ve always felt it would’ve been believable for Gia and Emma to have feelings for each other
Wouldn’t that have made them the first lesbian couple in power rangers? Honestly it would have been nice as a way to show kids to accept everyone and love everyone
If you're disappointed with super megaforce, watch Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, it is one of the best Super Sentai season. I watched Gokaiger without watching previous Sentai and still enjoyed it very much.
People didn't like ths whole souless rangers and not taking off their helmets in the legendary battle. Looks at the souless dino charge, dino thunder and MMPR rangers that were in the dino team up
"Next on the docket will probably be that Korra video I've been slaving away at for months," he says, while showing one of the very worst aspects of Korra. It's a toss-up whether the Raava/Vaatu nonsense or the airbender murder technique was a bigger slap in the face to fans, but wow, I don't think I've ever seen another show that showed so much promise in Season 1 and then tanked so hard from Season 2 onwards! Maybe Supergirl, but that's about it.
Super Megaforce, ironically, is the worst because Gokaiger, for me, and for a lot is one of the best and if not the best is top 5 at least, the expectation of having a story so linked to its origins, with so many references, with so much love . We won any series, and any is worse than bad, Supermegaforce is not 100% bad, but nothing will always be worse than something, the bad I can mock, get angry, the good I can praise, but nothing ... I can only compare with a better version and imagine what my version would be like, and that's it. All the positive points of Supermegaforce are deleted because the show itself is empty, in existence, in taste, in personality Ps: You should probably be better now, I'm out of twitter and I don't know if you're better or not, but thanks for the video, it always makes me happy with your analysis
My guess is that Troy being fine after Robo Knight's death is that he no longer has to worry about him being corrupted again, and him getting a well deserved break before the final battle.
The first episode of Super Megaforce is definitely the best one and except the sudden end of "okay the battle is done this season is doen" the final episode was good too. It just needed a extra 10min or so where most thing were wrapped up or in other words a real ending to the season
Imagine a lost galaxy arc where the rangers travel to Mirinoa to get the quasar sabers and they get stuck because trakeena was revived & they have to stay & learn about the Galaxy rangers and the galactibeasts, and the pink Ranger is having a hard time staying morphed cause Kendrix soul is connected to the saber. The rangers win the fight & instead of teleporting home Andros arrives in the Astro megaship and says “hey need a ride home”
In my in progress fan edit of Super Megaforce, one of my favorite changes/additions deals with the never drop the weapon line. Back in episode two I would have Troy summon the Robo blaster, kept from the end of season one, and use it against Psybaxs. Then to drop it in the buildings collapse (later collected by Vrak, for ep 16/17). Thus fixing the weapon drop aggression with a flashback to dropping Robo Knight's weapon he entrusted to Troy.
They wasted all of the potential with adapting Gokaiger. Especially into its own season or 2. I hate that Nickelodeon forced them into a 20-22 episodes per year thing. It really hampers the potential of the adaptations & storytelling.
My issue with the Legendary Battle is that the ACTUAL Legendary battle was more clean-up than actual fighting; Troy and Orion just kinda wiped out the entire armada alone and then Tommy and Wes showed up with everyone to help clean up a faceless army of mooks. The episode starts on the best possible note tho, the classic rangers stepping back into their roles (or having never left them, as I imagine is the case with Carter and Dana in particular)
Really amazes me how you're able analyze a bad season. Granted I can't really find any good in it because of unwatchable and not having any factors that make me want to rewatch it. But I still respect your opinion

I appreciate stuff like this, Megaforce i think hard disappointed everyone so much initially that no one wanted to look back and see if there's ANYTHING good. Double checking things to see if things are better or worse than we think will only do the fandom more good than harm.
Bootleg Gokaiger... Thats an insult, to bootlegs... Seriously though, its still the worst... I have been thinking about writing something (probably a fanfic just to satisfy myself) trying to re-write this season with the same characters and same problems (aka using the goseiger and gokaiger mash-up) but never really could push it for some reason... This video actually does point out some really good points to use for an idea like that so I thank you for that, maybe one day I will be able to do it... But seriously, we all agree that even though there were some good ideas superficially its still pretty bad, right?
well can i explain the season like Troy's vision he's a wind ninja using the scroll of time to defeat Luthor but went to Legendary Battle instead return to his time to be expelled
I think my problem with the season comes from the fact that beacause of the copy paste nature of the scripts the tributes feel ill fitting, like the dino thunder tribute works perfect for abaranger because it's a silly season but doesn't fit DT since it's a more mature season, and í would be willing to say that the season would've benefited more from just dropping the tributes all together.
Honestly this video is bad, but I do agree that this season did have some enjoyable moments. It's not as bad as Samurai, but it still won't ever be an enjoyable season for me.
"Bad as Samurai" I will never understand why certain people see Samurai as worse than Super Mega Force. Was Samurai perfect? Not a chance. But considering how its production was plagued with 8 times more problems than Mega Force and Super Mega Force ever had, it's no wonder. Why? Megaforce and Super Mega Force had 4 whole years to do it, meaning at least 2 years per season. Samurai and Super Samurai on the other hand? They had 6 months. 6 MONTHS! That means Samurai and Super Samurai had to: 1. Translate the Sentai's script to English and figure out what plots to use and which to discard.
The issue with both the season is lack of good scenes, writing, dialogues, backstories and character development and using daily episodes to display the strength of the overall team and each individual. The main characters weren't vulnerable and felt too perfect and bland most of the time which was boring. They should've simply empathised more on the emotional side and vulnerability of the characters. Like, how Jake said, We love you Orion. It felt like he used to not like him but with time he accpeted he does because there's no reason for not to. I would like to know why he feels like that. They simply used Sentei footage to give childhood nostalgia most of the time. Sometimes, they definetely did these things like the Blue Sabar Saga and the Jake one which was cool but overall, it is just C- or D for me.
I said on your previous video that Blue Saber Saga is my favourite SMF episode and that it works better than it's Gokaiger counterpart, but you put it into words better than I could, despite you not having seen it. Seriously though, watch Gokaiger, it's great. It's the first Sentai season that I watched and I loved it
(7:10-7:26) Yeah that was fine, but wouldn't it been better if they had Chip train Noah to fight against Skatana, instead of just bring Nic Sampson back to voice a one-off monster?
The odd thing about this season was that fans were looking forward to the use of the legendary footage and cameos.....and oddly everything unrelated to nostalgia ended up being more enjoyable
I enjoyed your first apology to Megaforce video and I feel that same enjoyment about this one. Both seasons were not good, and this was my first time seeing Power Rangers. However, there are some things to like about it. Oddly enough, I will say that despite Orion and Noah coming off better than the other characters, Troy still stuck out to me the most. His demeanor in both seasons makes me wonder what so called adversity Gosei mentioned before he endured before moving. For him lacking emotion and being so closed in, someone from his past could have appeared to bring more depth to his character. Like I said, I don't downright hate these seasons, but the faults are glaring. Oh and by the way, seriously? Not one focus episode for Gia?
At the end vrak was told that his brother won't recognise him due to his appearance, thought was going to be a scene like that. There was no meeting with him and the armada!!!!!
It would've been cool with the Megaforce Rangers team up with the Wild Force Rangers in episode "A Lion's Alliance"; Samurai Rangers in episode "Samurai Surprise"; Jungle Fury Rangers in episode "Spirit of Tiger; and RPM Rangers in episode "In the Driver's Seat". Since each of those episodes focus on different ranger teams(Wild Force, Samurai, Jungle Fury, and RPM).
It would've made sense to bring back Octoroo from Power Ranger Samurai in episode "Samurai Surprise". Megaforce Ranger would've been surprise to see a Nighlok villains from Samurai return. Then the Samurai Ranger could've team up with Megaforce Ranger to defeat Octoroo.
I just can't forgive Super Megaforce for not actually adapting Gokaiger. Every single season of PR was an adaptation of the themes of the Sentai it came from to at least a small degree, Gokaiger's themes were completely ignored and it was added as a power up. As good as the season might be, I just don't want to give it a chance to impress me because it didn't give Gokaiger a chance to be a proper adaptation. However, it's good to know that the season wasn't actually that bad and that they did make a season that has some meat to it.
Why I hate megaforce, they built up the show as it would be epic. But instead we got terrible HORRIBLE characters and nothing that we the audience wanted. Zachar was fired after this show. That's how bad this season was.
oh, absolutely agreed, which is why I get angry whenever people say things like "yeah, well Samurai and Super Samurai wasn't much better", because it shows how ignorant those people are. 6 MONTHS! Nice video man. If I can ask have you done anything on making a top ten PR finales video. I really like to see your views there(same to anyone who reads this.)
Megaforce had so much potential but the one thing I did enjoy about super megaforce was seeing some of the old rangers feature in the new season it feels like a passing of the torch
Another thing gokaiger did much better; rather then a mentor they earned their powers from the original owners. The original ranger was the one to judge them which also helped that since they were pirates they had to work more.
Apologies to Super Megaforce? *WTF* 😄😄 This was the season that damaged and *cheapened* PR as a whole. So much money wasted on promotion, for such a shitty, *LAZY* , poorly written and acted product. It confirmed the public's Worst preconceptions about Power Rangers and the lameness of the franchise. 😬 Words aren't enough to convey the disdain for this one.
@giftofgab247 At least Ninja Steel had a decent crossover. Dimensions in Danger may not be amazing and the Tommy worship is a bit overdone but story wise it's solid and better than the whole of Megaforce
Yes, the show is terrible, but I don't blame the cast members. I blame lousy writing and decisions. I wanted to see the Power Rangers and show us what they would do to celebrate the last 20 years, and we didn't get anything within the 3 years of planning. I seriously hope there are smarter writing in power rangers seasons; I don't like to see cartoon physical humor, fart jokes, or gross-out humor because they don't work. I can forgive what Beast Morpher did; I do like those two once in a while and gave us a good reason. But I'm getting off-topic; I want the people doing power rangers to provide us with something to continue. Power Rangers can jump the shark, but they need to make sense in pr term.
I just realized that PR could make Troy an actually good character kinda easily. What he considered his battle is long finished, so put him in a future team up and give him an existential crisis. Only kinda easy though, since it takes a good writer.

So many missed opportunities for passed rangers to cameo it wasn’t enough cameos
But thank god they had time for pre-Zyuranger teams.
Yay, anniversary season 😑
It’s the fact that the pirate powers weren’t their own season, for me. I did not want to see the mega force rangers again. I wished they gave us a new story, new characters, etc. the sheer class of Gokaiger and the suits was absolutely butchered by these guys
@Amazing Spiderman Fan 2002 or just leave it. Adapt all the episodes of goseiger and introduce ultra mode as the batilizer in megaforce
@Amazing Spiderman Fan 2002 They didn't even implement all of goseiger for example the angel theme or vrak being a fallen angel
Yeah I Prefered if Both Mega Force and Super Mega Force were there own thing
Do you happen to know if those scenes were posted? I'd like to see them.
i would love if tory's stoicness was result of being just shy and socially awkard and not knowing how to talk to others
he was told to act emotionless by someone who worked on the show, idk if it was the writers or director or saban himself, idk but he was told by someone to act emotionless and super serious all the time
@@cobraedits1360 that was what my theory involved.
It only just occured to me that Metal Alice is wordplay for Malice...
Oh shit! Lmao I didn't even know til i read your comment haha! XD

Hate gokaiger? Who? Sure it's pandering fanservice but unlike super megaforce it's the right kind if pandering.

Alexis Franco Diaz Yeah.
Having to reach this far just proves the show lost continuity long ago

@@autumbreeze1129 they actually tried to say something but they were shut up and ignored by executive producers and producers.
ironically one of the reasons megaforce (and samurai) is what it is was because Tzachor (one of the main producers, wether executive producers or not i don't remember enough, but he was one of the main bosses behind both samurai and megaforce), apparently, was A Super Sentai Fan (my only source of info to confirm this is the "Fanboy" trope section in the TvTropes page of Linkara's History of the power rangers web series, especifically where it talks about megaforce).
that he loved shinkenger and gokaiger so much that he wanted to keep as much of shinkenger's and gokaiger's original content and footage without altering so it would fit power rangers more.
it would explain why in the power rangers episode "The Wrath" there is a "all team morph" morphing into Super Sentai suits EXCEPT Troy, who morphed into MMPR Red (and THE ONLY Reason why Troy would moprh into that instead of Sun Vulcan like in gokaiger footage, is because they can't legally use sun vulcan due to sun vulcan's rights outside asia (alongside Battle Fever J and Denjiman according to "The Wrath"'s entry in RangerWiki), are owned by MARVEL, therefore, owned by Disney, so those would be the only sentai the crew would always make effort into edit it out of footage)
AND, besides of that, Tzachor rearely showed interest in whatever thing it was being done, and according to Gia's actress (at least accroding to Megaforce's Trivia Page (especifically in Creator's Apathy AND "Creator's favorite episode": tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Trivia/PowerRangersMegaforce)), the only episode that Tzachor apparently cared about to put effort was the "Amensiac Tensou" episode "The perfect storm". you know, that budget waster filler episode.
Also, by the way, apparently Troy's "dull robotic" performance was mandate by Tzachor.
it makes Samurai's efforts to at least give a "semi decent" show more imppresive, and make "Megaforce's" troubled production feel even worse because, at least with samurai they only needed to fit 1 show, while megaforce needed to fit 2 which just hurt production even more regardless of the additional time to plan things
(alongside tzachor not wanting to change almost nothing from the gokaiger footage unless it was a mandate to avoid copyright infirgement)
@@autumbreeze1129 chill man, they did try, but people in charge, especially Jonathan tzachor, said otherwise.

Still wouldve prefered a gokaiger adaptation
Everyone would’ve preferred gokaiger as it’s own adaption but still there were better ways of adapting it.
Yeah. Or just have Troy be Gokai Blue since he's stoic like Joe.
It would've been interesting to have another season where the leader isn't red or the new guy that appears.
Huh...so this is why some people prefer Megaforce to Ninja Steel...alright I’m intrigued
1. Gia having a love triangle is the best head canon I’ve ever heard. Dude I love you for this level of in depth
Disney Brain actually prefers Ninja Steel to Megaforce.
Augustus Freeman I know. I’ve heard some people say Ninja Steel is worse and while I disagree, I can understand why some say they know. I’m new but I’ve seen some of his videos here before, but thanks!
@@sxwriter8569 Oh, never mind. While this is intriguing on the surface, nothing about Emma makes it seem like she likes Gia romantcally to be honest.
Sentai Purist it was a joke
Interestingly enough this season was my first exposure to the series, and despite all it's flaws, is why i'm a pr fan today.
this was my comback to my franchise to me after last seaosn being RPM (i didn't watch samurai because back then, i didn't watch nickeoleond that much, but thanks to the fact megaforce was broadcasted in my country in cartoon network (and still is up to beast morphers), it gave me a chance to watch it (as i watched cartoon network back in the day. not a lot these days))
I will say you'd probably get along with Brain's server. We have these discussions frequently so feel free to join us there or so!
Maybe, just the zombats were “too complex for you to understand“
After watching BMorphers 1 and 2, I noticed they never mentioned the Morphin Grid in Super/ Megaforce. 🤔

Damn it...
Just watch the original Sentai, Gokaiger.

Agreed. Plus they at least played with the legendary ranger forms by having one color costume changes, which Super Megaforce didn't exactly use outside of Episode 1.
even the cast was disappointed they didn't use GokaiChristmas ffs....huge missed opportunity
The megaranger tribute and basco stuff would have been perfect to adapt
@@CassidyShadewing I just really find i don't enjoy the SPD cast very much. Samurai i did enjoy way more on rewatch.

MegaForce and Super MegaForce were a gray area for me you can’t convince me otherwise
Can you do an in depth ranking of the Command Centers/HQs of the Power rangers? I think that would be so cool.

Is Super Megaforce the worst? Probably. Does it lack redeeming qualities? Not at all.
For clarification, Megaforce was okay, mediocre at worst.

@@emmanuelsebi6964 That explanation makes NO FUCKING SENSE.
A Gokaiger adaptation would've been better if they borrowed some elements from Pirates of Carribean and Peter Pan
"Bad as Samurai"
I will never understand why certain people see Samurai as worse than Super Mega Force.
6 MONTHS!
That means Samurai and Super Samurai had to:
1. Translate the Sentai's script to English and figure out what plots to use and which to discard.
Super Megaforce does have its bright spots, but man is this the mispotential season of PR.
Megaforce is a slap in the face and a insult to gokaiger
Gokaiger is an insult to megaforce
@@mayanksingh2847 how is gokaiger an insult to it?
No need to apologize Megaforce super and the season after it was crap we all know it.
It's the first Sentai season that I watched and I loved it
Why do the worst seasons have the coolest suits
(7:10-7:26) Yeah that was fine, but wouldn't it been better if they had Chip train Noah to fight against Skatana, instead of just bring Nic Sampson back to voice a one-off monster?
That would be fine, but personally I think Troy is more suited for Gokai Blue.
I actually like the characters wish they were given more depth and flesh them out more
When are we getting an end season 2 Beast morphers review and dono war anniversary special review

7:27 Jarrod is to Casey is parallel to Skatana is to Noah too.
21:28 no, I think your reading way to much into this season.
They don't deserve an apology after what they did to the reunion battle episode.
LEO UR exactly
I just can't forgive Super Megaforce for not actually adapting Gokaiger. Every single season of PR was an adaptation of the themes of the Sentai it came from to at least a small degree, Gokaiger's themes were completely ignored and it was added as a power up. As good as the season might be, I just don't want to give it a chance to impress me because it didn't give Gokaiger a chance to be a proper adaptation. However, it's good to know that the season wasn't actually that bad and that they did make a season that has some meat to it.
The only part of this season besides the cameos that I enjoyed were the reveal of the dairanger suits as having belonged to a team somewhere
I must say this: THAN YOU FOR DEFENDING THE SEASON!
6 MONTHS!
That means Samurai and Super Samurai had to:
1. Translate the Sentai's script to English and figure out what plots to use and which to discard.
The only resolution not met by either megaforce season is Troy explaining why he kicks water bottles all the time and choosing to stop 😂😂
*"Imma let you finish Disney Brain, but Gokaiger is the greatest anniversary Toku and one of the Greatest Toku of All Time."*
Lol.
@giftofgab247 Ninja Steel being worse is a fair assessment. There's no coming back from a magic Fart cloud
I would ninja steel was a step up from megaforce but that isn’t saying much
Yes, the show is terrible, but I don't blame the cast members.
Honestly, I just felt bad for those poor actors.
@@nexusshark I did get to meet the yellow ranger at my local comic con a few years back, and she was so nice
@@TitanWar93 And I did see Troy's actor actually doing good acting.
@@nexusshark I do wish him well, and IF he ever makes a return to Power Rangers, his acting should be better than what we were shown in that season.
@@TitanWar93 Yup. If he's under better direction I know he can do much better. In fact him and Orion's actor wanted to do better.
I just realized that PR could make Troy an actually good character kinda easily. What he considered his battle is long finished, so put him in a future team up and give him an existential crisis. Only kinda easy though, since it takes a good writer.
Me still waiting for the Gokaiger video...
