I don't blame the actors for Megaforce and super Megaforce, I heard they weren't pleased with the stories and begged for better ones. The problem in general was trying too hard to be like mmpr
@Shan Chaudhry No what he's saying is Megaforce is so bad, that Operation Overdrive has more effort than the anniversary seasons because of jackoff Jonathan Tzachor.
eh i saw about..... 10 episodes of goseiger before the website died. i kinda liked it at least they had time to develop their characters or ya know...... be more than color coded cardboard cutouts
The sad thing about the whole line by tiki zordon about "awakening when the earth is in danger" is that if he had added "and there is no current ranger team to defend it" or something along those lines then people wouldn't have had such a majorly harsh judgement against him to start. Granted he would have earned
@@batmanbeyond5766 Wanna feel worse? Zeo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, Lightsped Rescue, Wild Force, Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, and Jungle Fury all still have their power as well. Though I guess technically Lost Galaxy is kinda iffy and who knows what happened to the ZEO crystals after the base was blown up.
The legendary battle was underwhelming. Troy and Orion practically destroy the entire fleet by themselves and then the team is to tired to destroy the most basic enemies, so the other rangers have to step in.
It would've been cooler if the Legendary Rangers help the Megaforce Rangers destroy all the fleets together. Then all the rangers together would destroy Emperor Mavro together.
@@isaacogunmuko3947 Sucky thing is I'm pretty that's exactly how it happened in the Super Sentai version. All the previous Sentai teams used up their power to destroy most of or all of the Armada ships, and then their powers were scattered as Ranger Keys (or whatever the Gokaiger equivalent is)
that's because in sentai, the legendary battle was at the start of the Gokaiger(which ended with the sentais losing their powers and being turned into Keys) and the final battle focused on just the gokaigers using those keys, beating what's left of the army and specially Marvelous and Gai(Red and Silver) beating the emperor in Pegasus. Fusing these 2 separate battles as one final battle absolutely didn't work in the seasons favor
TheArceusftw Also less robotic than Troy: Alpha 5 The Dragonzord Auric the Conqueror Alpha 6 Blue Centurion D.E.K.A. Troy's robo-crush Robo Knight Gosei Tensuu The entire Royal House of Gadgetry Louie Kaboom the Starscream expy Venjix (the one from RPM) Shall I go on? :3
I would agree with that. It feels like someone running things there is allergic to quality, which was most apparent when Legend of Korra started getting mishandled by the network for simply wanting to be a great show. That's the biggest shame in all of this, because if they had let the Avatar creators go about their business, we might have even gotten a third iteration by now and I'd love to see an Earth Kingdom Avatar :/
The Disney Brain Spongebob was another example of that. Season 1-5 were great,6-8 was ok in my opinion, but when Nick got “modern”,seasons 9-11 started going downhill
@@TheDisneyBrain amen to that we may get in the comic version nick is the spongebob network it show you how far the network has fallen they wonder why most of there new shows aren't bangers like they use to sad.
What makes Troy Worse is the fact that one of his Sentai counterparts is Captain Marvelous. CAPTAIN MARVELOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best Sentai Red Rangers in history!!! Wtf?! Excuse my language
@@Sandeepsingh-ry2gr Blame Nickelodeon's stupid "split the adaptions into 2 by 20 episodes" bullshit. Megaforce/Super Megaforce is two adaptions of Sentai(Goseiger and Gokaiger) crammed into one. Which it suffers badly.
Did anyone else get pissed off when in the final battle, they’re like, “Man I feel so excited I don’t even need to go super mega!” That pissed me off, since they could barely do shit without it
@@justinesun631 You and me both. I pretty much had to mute my TV just so I can spare myself from having to hear their constant lectures as to why they never surrender and all that corny shit. They do this even against a monster of the week for Christ’s sake!!!
@Wanna Be a Smurt Person Trying they had such a messy rollout for this show. it deserved better. i would've much preferred they make megaforce and super megaforce separate shows, and have them be angels and pirates like they were meant to be.
What makes Super Megaforce so bad for me, aside from the fact that it failed as an anniversary season, is how it amazingly wasted footage from a far superior show - Gokaiger. You can feel the passion, respect and effort the producers put into that show, and the past Sentai's cameos actually served to develop the main characters, each of whom was already lively and interesting on their own. The Gokaigers started off as anti-heroes (selfish space pirates) but gradually grew into genuine protectors of the Earth, albeit retained their pirate traits. Even better? They actually chose to protect the Earth instead of being chosen to protect it, and it made the show even more meaningful. People can do good deeds without having to be some 'chosen ones'.
Honestly rangers that start on the bad side of morality and slowly becoming better people in their efforts to protect earth sounds amazing...it makes me wish Disney had kept power rangers, at least they had a good run...minus operation overdrive but even that's better than megaforce
@@maverickdarkrath4780 atleast as much as Disney was "embarrased" about making Power Rangers, they still put hella effort into each season especially with RPM as a whole and Operation Overdrive's Once A Ranger two parter.
i know right! supermegaforce never touched on the pirate theme once! they should have made a desperate season with the gokaiger suits. because gokaiger was AMAZING and even though at first they only did want to get the approval of getting to know the other sentai teams was so they could get the greatest treasure in the universe, they decided to destroy it instead and SAVE THE EARTH! that shows character growth like no other. they could have easily wished for a world where the zangyack never took over the universe and they all lived happy lives, but NO. they decided to not have that universe because the super sentai wouldn't exist and they saw how much the other teams fought to protect earth and WHY they did, with each sentai cameo, the rangers learned new lessons and how to grow strong as a group. joe learned its ok to ask for help, doc learned how to stand up for himself and luka learned to to be selfish. anyways, the point is thatneo-saban should have taken more elements from gokaiger into Megaforce and super-meagaforce to make it more somewhat enjoyable
I was scrolling channels and saw the Jungle Fury episode and although i loved Casey's involvement in the episode they did not do well capturing the choreography of the original Jungle Fury Rangers and I'm pretty sure that was the only episode I really watched
Tyrique Jones you are so right, The Nick area except dino charge is pretty bad and nothing compared to the older power rangers such as lost galaxy, lightspeed rescue, Time Force, Ninja Storm, dino thunder and etc
Had Megaforce been the Overdrive Team. I would say yes. While Megaforce may have been SUPER rushed and dumbed down and very clunky. At least the team didn't give up all the time. (Overdrive Legacy Team Up) The Overdrive Team was more than willing to turn over their responsibility to the various returning rangers.
The Disney Brain It would have been cool to see Jayden become the Super Mega Red Captain, pilot the Legendary Samurai Megazord (really the Legendary Samurai Wild Force Megazord), and fight alongside big sis Daimyo Lauren piloting the original Samurai Gigazord.
From what I understand, the guy who played Troy was actually well aware on how Super Megaforce didn’t make sense. So maybe it’s not necessarily the actors’ fault, it’s the poor directing choices that were made. Am I right?
Hell, Noah even awakens the Wild Force lion zord on the Animarium. And the lion itself got pissed off that Troy was masquerading as the red ranger. When a CGI animal thinks you are full of shit, you really have some issues.
Noah’s development was forced when they figured out the super mega force SS blue ranger was a bad ass as Noah has to go from “the brain” to like the strongest fighter while Jake goes from a fighter to a joke. Although I’m sure there is a very good reason for that...
The saddest thing of all about Samurai/Megaforce/SuperMegaForce is that the Original Super Sentai Series (Shinkenger/Goseiger/Gokaiger) were AMAZING! And whose TERRIBLE idea was it to take like 90 episodes of Goseiger/Gokaiger and condense it into 40? If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend watching the originals!!
That is a completely stupid idea, i mean it's basically like with shyamalan's Avatar squeezing the entire series of Avatar the last Airbender into an hour movie. It's obvious that it's going to be bad, I mean when you do that you basically have to rush and take out parts of keys moments of the original or just completed change it.
Unfortunately the episode limitations come from the platform more than the show producers. Nickelodeon, if I remember correctly, requires seasons to be 40 episodes each or they make another season. This is why some shows on the network often have a sudden new season addition, but specifically why all PR seasons were cut into two parts on Nick.
If you had actually watched Gokaiger, you would understand that Noah’s “development” from Blue Saber Saga is totally baseless. It was just a copy-pasted plot of Gokaiger’s take on it, but without making if fit within the context of Megaforce and it’s characters. Noah was never established as being a veteran swordsman to begin with. It worked in the Sentai, because the Blue Ranger of Gokaiger was already established as a veteran swordsman. With Megaforce, it doesn’t. There was no reason for a novice like him to get into a sword fight with Skatana, there was no reason for him to get depressed over losing that fight to him, and there was no reason for him to be so out of character. This is not how character development is supposed to work. Having Noah go from novice to veteran in just a single day’s worth of training does not make sense. Him setting up a training course that has him deflecting swords that fly at very high speeds would get a novice killed! I’m surprised that I haven’t found a single comment around here pointing out these problems here! Many people who have watched Gokaiger are fully aware with these problems regarding Blue Saber Saga, and Noah’s inconsistent characterization. I know that it might be too late for me to post a comment here, but someone has to point out these problems.
Neo Saban was lazy when it came to it. They used alot more stock footage in Super Megaforce and stories that made no sense with their characters in mind
Oliver Hurt Exactly. It made no sense. Even I say that Blue Saber Saga doesn’t count as character development for Noah, it was just copy-pasting Gokaiger.
Also, I've seen hunterkiller's Megaforce rewrite, and the one thing I can agree with him is that Troy is a much better choice for Gokai Blue if you are going with that direction.
Gokaiger is one of the Best SS series and Super Megaforce basically is an insult for them! Marvelous, Joe, Luka, Doc, Ahim and Gai are amazing characters, their suits are awesome, their storylines are interesting, Basco an amazing villain. PR wasted all the potential of a pirates series
@Tchannel-Tengo Well in certain cultures some thing are more or less acceptable for a young demographic. From an American perspective, Gokaiger may very well be PG or a bit higher, but in it's native country it's produced for and is marketed for children.
Thank you Megaforce and Super Megaforce. You just KILLED CAPTAIN MARVELOUS and BASCO!!!! You somehow took one of the most beloved Sentai season and made it look like SHIT!!! Heck, even Basco offered to act as an American Basco but got denied. Basco actor even spoke perfect English.
What? No, not Dante Basco. Basco is a villain from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the Super Sentai series that was adapted into Super Megaforce (and ruined mind you, considering the source material is amazing). Basco'ts actor is amazing at speaking english and offered to play the american version of Basco, but Super Megaforce was way too terrible to even consider adapting such an amazing villain.
That would have been epic! A true to form Sentai crossover with a Japanese antagonist as a nod to the parent series of Power Rangers. Oh Megaforce... seems that every comment only adds to the "What if?" speculation and how things could have been that much better.
Idea: Gosei should've been a guardian for the Morphing Grid itself, only awakening when the Grid came under direct threat. The armada's discovered a way to destroy the grid permanently, thus ensuring that evil will eventually triumph if they're not stopped. Part of this plan involves conquering/destroying the earth because of how many ranger teams exist on it or something. Gosei awakens with no idea of what's happened while asleep, and eventually discovers that while he was asleep, not only did Zordon die, but at the hands of one of his own rangers.
One of the real problems of this part of the Neo Saban era is the wish of the director to use as much Sentai material as possible, which is not good because as usual what the Sentai were doing was completely different. The result is that many writers got their ideas incompatible or shut down because it would have needed less Sentai and more original material, or to make episodes with little Sentai as possible. Don't believe me? Look at the S2 megazord presentation and cockpit: the entire pirate shots are still there, and remember they reshoot the cockpit of Samurai because it was too oriental, so it was not outside their capabilities to put the effort! The mere presence of Sentai only teams in the keys when the Mighty Morphin put immense effort into removing those at their time to keep the show grounded outside the Japanese brother saga is another clear shot at the problem, hell the RPM crossover didn't happen with the RPM universe, but the shots of the other dimension were the SENTAI SAGA SHOTS! All they needed was a frikkin mad max wasteland if they didn't want to shoot the city again, but no, Sentai recycling again even if it doesn't make sense. No wonder Dino Charge got better, the director ( a huge Sentai fan ) got fired because his failures, and good riddance. He may have loved Sentai, but it was clear he was trying to dub the serie as much as possible without doing it and being called out.
If you watch Linkara's overview of Dino Charge, he mentions at the beginning how there was an interview with one of the writers on this season. Turns out that even *they* knew this season was crap and they were trying to make it better, but Jonathan Tzachor kept dismissing their ideas as "boring."
Do it like Gokaiger starts. The Armada comes down, starts fucking everything up, the Rangers have been on the run in the GokaiGalleon (or whatever we're calling it) being privateers/pirates that help out the cities that haven't been completely subjugated/eliminated. There I've both justified using the theme of the Gokai costumes AND raised the stakes of the narrative, someone retroactively pay me.
yeah, that suit alone make me not even watch Super Megaforce. How can switch from "typical PR suit" to "pirate PR suit" and claimed the latter is stronger? Lazy premise right off the bat, right there. That's like saying switching from using axe to using sword because sword is stronger. It'd be better if this legacy season did the same thing as Dino Thunder. Instead of JDF, why not someone else like Austin St. John?
@@Takato2527 I think Goikenger does it better when the suit switches happen , it feels like a cool homage to the og show. And because there are 51 episodes and more movies than any other Super Sentai series. Those characters have grown and developed really well.
Even the Legendary Battle had continuity errors. So much so, it was insane. The Legendary Battle. The finale Saban hyped up to no end. 1. HOW THE HELL DID TOMMY GET HIS GREEN RANGER POWERS BACK? 2. HOW DID LEO GET TO EARTH? Yeah, Astro Megaship, but the episode doesn't tell us. 3. It showed the White Ranger and Saba when Tommy grabbed the kid, but he was the Green Ranger in this one. THEY COULDN'T EVEN KEEP IT CONSISTENT FOR THE FINALE! Yes, Tommy has been 5 rangers (6 is you count the Ninja state), but heres how to fix it. Either cycle through the helmets he wore OR just use the Green Ranger faded helmet instead, its more iconic in my opinion. It just basically assumes hes coming in as the White Ranger, but NOPE!
Not to mention all the Sentai characters jumping around in the Legendary battle. And nobody even questions it, not even a cheeky "Hey who are those guys? Never seen those Rangers before!". I think the Legendary battle makes Leo a better character, because he somehow knew the Earth was in danger and zoomed all the way back to help save it. Meanwhile, Gosei was fast asleep when countless threats were literally just outside his proverbial window, sigh... but, as the saying goes, there's a simple explanation for that.
Number 56: Junglezone How did Tommy get his Green Ranger powers back? There's a simple explanation for that. :3 I do have an actual theory: remember Tommy's clone Tom that was given Green Ranger powers and ultimately went to live back in Puritan times? ("Return of the Green Ranger" Parts 1 & 2) Theory: Tom lived back in the past, lived his life until he died of old age, and hid his copy of the Green Ranger powers where they wouldn't be found until long after the events of the Zordon Era, possibly even finding Gosei and entrusting the Green Ranger power to him, and they were then given to Tommy, probably according to Tom's last wishes.
Reply to this comment and let me know if you want a DinoThunder video or a Top 10 Ranger Villains video first!! Also quick correction: Turns out the DinoThunder lyrics was Centuries gone by and not centuries combine like I said. Sorry!!
As much that everybody hates Megaforce, I agree that Gia Moran didn’t get one single focus on the show. But I do not blame the actor/actress for playing their characters, as much as you can bash on Troy and I agreed, I really blame the creator for make everyone hate him. They didn’t even try to fix Troy character up, it’s like they purposely make him to be hated. For the Rangers. Jake, Noah and Emma, Robo Knight were poorly development. Orion got somewhat of background, but still poorly development. I feel like Megaforce should got somewhat at least decent storyline or they could not to story connected to Zordan for that matter and could make a different story all together. The creators and writer did not even try to give the season somewhat of a chance. I feel like they didn’t give a damn about this season, because I feel like characters and plot in the Megaforce didn’t get any some good result. You can hate this season and I agreed, but I still blame the people who were work on show not season itself and if casts different creators and writer like Judd Lynn it would not be bad as it was...
I Don't Hate Megaforce And I Love It And I Have Dvd With Power Rangers Movie 2017 And Ninja Strom And Mighty Mophin Power Rangers I Like Seasson1&2 Expect Seasson 3
I mean you had to bring back the most wooden Red you had in years at that point for a cameo because... reasons. Oh I know, because that's what the Sentai footage presented and you didn't know how to frame it properly. Seriously, I am a HUGE Sentai nut, straight up fanboy, but I can appreciate it when Power Rangers actually tries to use the suits and themes in innovative and different ways from the Sentai. Like how they elaborated on the secondary villains in Samurai to make them less one note, I did actually appreciate that.
The worst argument anyone can make for the lack of quality in a show is to play the "just for kids" card. It's a BS narrative that's been flung around for who knows how long as shorthand for not giving a fuck because kids are stupid. Except, then why is Pixar so good at captivating all audiences? Strange, right? It's almost like trying harder is the key to succeeding, regardless of projected demographics. Who have thunk it??
The Disney Brain Also it's kind of a reunion series. If it wasn't the references to ranger series past seem to give off the wrong impression, by design it's also made for the older fans because... Well Who else would remember older rangers?
imdb88 Actually the writers wanted to make it a good season. So did the actors. They wanted to have character focused episodes and even had a storyline explaining the Troy super saiyan moment with him being plugged into the morphing grid. But the fuck up lord Jonathan Tzachor denied the writers a chance to make a good story because it was "boring". It wasn't a case of the writers being lazy more of they wanted to make it good but they couldn't.
Can we talk for a second about how Robo Knight dropped in during the Legend Battle? Troy was just like, "Oh hey Robo Knight!" And Robo Knight is is just like "Hello old friend." Like, what the actual fuck? You're not gonna give us any fucking explanation? That right there just proved they gave no shits and we're basically just dubbing the friggin Sentai.
GoldenCyclone4 Linkara was stunned so fucking hard he spoofed Spoony's Ultima 9 review when Dupre's Noble sacrifice two games ago was soul crushingly destroyed for a cheap revival.
Robo Knight isn't a sixth Ranger for the same reason Blue Centurion isn't. But I supposed one could also make the argument against Magna Defender being a Ranger, but Mike gets a morpher and a Zord, so he's a sixth Ranger for me, even if he's technically just transforming into an alien.
To me Orion had the most potential to be a great character. He had an actual backstory (a tragic one at that) and showed charisma. Unfortunately that was all wiped away after he debuted. It's like they forgot what to do with him.
In my opinion, Taylor (Yellow Ranger-Power Rangers Wild Force) is better than Gia. In Power Rangers Wild Force , Taylor has been yellow ranger for a year before Cole (Red ranger) steps in to the picture. I like Taylor's character than Gia's character. Gia is nothing compare to Taylor.
There was more focus on the boring RoboKnight than on developing the Rangers as characters. Also (aside from the very last episode) only Casey and Jayden made special episode appearances. Gokaiger had someone from a prior team showing up almost every other episode. Only way for the Megaforce Rangers to get character development is to read fanfiction.
My biggest problem with Gia was that it seemed the writers couldn't decide who they wanted Gia's love interest to be. Jake had a crush on her, she flirted with Troy a bit in the first season, she clearly had the hots for Orion (until the writers decided they liked him with Emma, which I didn't) and there were even hints at Gia and Robo Knight being a thing. But then again, recent Ranger pairings bother me, not because of the show, but because of the fanbase. All of those fans that were like, "Jayden and Mia belong together" or "Troy and Emma are destined for each other" even though there was like zero romance between those "couples". It especially annoyed me, because Jayden and Emily made way more sense (until that asshole Mike got in the way) and as I've said, Gia was the one who flip flopped between all of the boys.
Jayden and Emily could have made for one of the better Ranger pairings in history by simply allowing them the opportunity to connect through their shared insecurity of being a second choice Ranger. But since it had to be a secret kept away from the team, they never even thought of it.
The Disney Brain you’re absolutely correct. Jayden and Emily had way more chemistry because of their backgrounds, Emily had to take her sisters place when she was sick and Jayden took over for his sister until she had to take over the team
They Most Likely Know Because Of The Crossovers -Bridge Was In Operation Overdrives Once A Ranger Special As The SPD Red Ranger -Dino Thunder Had A Crossover With SPD Twice
With the way Megaforce/Super Megaforce was handled, it seems like the crew and even Saban himself is ashamed of the Power Ranger legacy. It’s a shame when Disney and Hasbro can do PR better than the series creator.
Hell i already came up with a team that literally has every known PR color and it'd still be able to write character dev. better when you have to divide your time between at least 12 protagonists and the main villains.
Also, please, if it isn't an anniversary season, keep the callbacks and references to past seasons to a bare minimum. A season of PR ought to stand on its own and shouldn't rely on past characters and plotlines to tell the story.
The season made me so angry I went and wrote the fanfic I'd been holding back on once the seasons were announced. Pretty much the team in it are the real successors to the Samurai Rangers with the MF team being from an alternate world.
Here's the thing about Troy. He's awful. Just fucking awful. Andrew Gray did NOTHING to bring any sort of life to the character other than a slight smile every so often, his deliveries were SO wooden my mom's carpenter boyfriend could make a box out of him, & the character himself was just a waste. Given how his Sentai counterparts, Alata and Captain Marvelous, are so different from him, you'd expect the writers to have implemented some form of their character developments into his, ESPECIALLY Marvelous, because he lives up to the word by being SO badass, you need a break after most of the moments. But no, a bland red ranger in a season that is WORSE than MMPR season 1 because while MMPR could be argued as bland just to sell toys, but it COULD be argued that it was that, but that it's a product of the time it was made in which didn't have a lot of kids' shows do that kind of depth, Megaforce IS a season that was just made to sell toys. I mean, look at all of the merch that was coming out at the time. DVDs, toys aplenty, nostalgic things. BANDAI AMERICA cared, but Johnathan Tzachor DIDN'T. Fuck him.
Scsigs This season is pure suicide for all Power Ranger fans. You just wait until I rip on Ninja Steel once that concludes for two seasons. I've been stopped watching after Dino Charge ended.
That's not necessarily Andrew's fault. It's the directors and writers who made his character so wooden. Trust me, I'm a classically trained actor and even I wouldn't be able to give life to a character like that.
Even AG said in an interview how there was more planned for Troy's backstory that woulda been nice, also he had no other choice than to act the way he did cuz it got him the job
The entire cast is a MMPR knockoff: Noah=Billy Troy=Jason but worse Emma=Kimberly Gia=Trini Jake=Zachary Basically dumbed down versions of the charactes.
2:00 Exactly, why didn't he awaken during Lightspeed Rescue? I know Lost Galaxy came before that, but it wasn't based on Earth, instead a floating colony
Here's the thing, Mega force could of worked, have it be that Casey from jungle fury has the vision of the upcoming battle while he is medditating or something and then goes back into the room where dai-shi was impressioned and goes into the chamber with the past ranger powers and he said I need a new team, but I also need everyone and while he is training the new team, he is also going around and recuriting past rangers for the upcoming battle.
There's only one way we can get quality back into this mess; 1.) Whoever Saban hired as writers and director should either be fired, or get a crowd of fans beat the living sh#% out of them. That second part should teach them a lesson.
I believe that the reason why it's so bad is that with everything Disney Brain said, the series was also rushed. The original Japanese series was 90 episode and the director shorten the story to 40 episodes. I mean why in the world would they do that, it's just going to force the writers to rush everything in the series
Gosie could actually have been a great idea. There are many teams that had powers out of nowhere. What if Gosei had given those mentors the technology to build the morphers, and was preparing for new threats all the time? This could be such a threat nothing he previously developed could stand a chance. But nooo, nothing about that, he was just asleep
Your roast of Troy was epic and bbn I commend you I'm gonna go back to it for years to come when I wanna watch someone take down another character verbally (who deserves it)
I really want them to make an animated series, or comic book or LITERALLY ANYTHING that shows off gokaiger better, fixes up continuity issues, and gives us more backstory
I liked the super samurai series because it was simplistic, fun and didn't resort to the boring character tropes that every other show and film seems to need to. Then megaforce came out with the dumb male liking the stroppy tough girl with a nasty personality who should be grateful for any attending with that attitude. The other characters were so bland and forgettable too. Same old, same old. Plus the whole arc was a mess and yet i remember everyone talking about how amazing it was even after it finished. Glad to see others don't like it too otherwise the makers might make the next series similarly as bad.
So here's what I would've done with Super Megaforce: Give the Rangers the keys at the beginning but make them earn the use of each set of Ranger powers. For example, travelling to Animaria to tame the Lion Zord is how they gain use of the Wild Force powers. There's enough episodes to do one set of powers per episode, then when it comes to the Legendary Battle, which I would've made a 2 parter, they earn the final set of powers (I'd go with the MMPR ones for this) and would've earned the right to fight alongside the legends. I'd also have used Megaforce for character development- why is Troy so distant? Who is placing expectations of excellence on Gia and how does that impact her? etc
I think the problem is that Gokaiger had developed directly from Goseiger, which explained why the Ranger Keys exist and the hunt for the biggest treasure in the universe. Saban didn't have the luxury of 40+ episodes for each season for characters and having the Power Rangers branded as "wanted space pirates" would not fit the "Protector of Earth" motif. But I agree, they screwed up the perfect season to honor this series.
The Disney Brain you said the words from my mouth. This season gave me trust issues with Saban that i didn't want to even give the movie a chance and haven't watch dino or ninjasteel and i'm a die-hard Power ranger fan but this neo saban era is giving the fans the middle finger!
Yeah, they really didn't try here. But I will say that Dino Charge is a huge improvement! If you ever get around to watching it, I think you'll notice the difference almost immediately. And I also really liked the movie. However, Ninja Steel feels like a step backwards right after a step forward.
@The Disney Brain I've heard great things about dino Charge but a couple off bad reviews with super dino charge? I'm not batching the movie but can we be honest about it lacking what it is suppose to be a action mech monster fighting film i feel most of the trailers gave most off the only fighting we saw in the film. if you like the film it's cool but it felt like a glass half empty the song when the zords come out was the ticker real fans could relate to it being breakfast club rangers with krispe kreame super mega budget i hope they get it right part 2 or sell the rights to disney star wars and marvel add this 2 the list i mean even sentei spiderman would approve
As someone who grew up with Megaforce and Supermega force, I never noticed the bad acting or stories since I was so young. For me, the characters are nostalgic and I remember Troy being a cool calm collected leader. What the show DID do for me was get me intrigued about other, previous series and so that’s a plus.
Same, super megaforce was my introduction to the series and I never noticed the bad things. Only when I started to get back into this series I realised that it wasn't as good as I remembered, I predicted that troy was going to get criticism for being basically a hollow character, and that some of the story is pretty confusing. But I never noticed all the other problems with the show untill now.
This was actually the first time I watched power rangers and so I remember quite a lot about it and this made me watch the other power rangers series I just want to say that the actors actually didn't like there seasons the cast on the 2018 panel morphicon and one in November 2018 were saying that they didn't like it and was making fun off it. Andrew (Troy) actually said that he told the producers if he could have emotion/ personality (something like that) in his character but they said no. They made fun off the outfits, families, homes and so much more. They also apologised about the legendary battle and how it should of been better and longer. Ciara (Gia) also said about the relationship with Gia and Jake that on episode 3 the producers said it was going fast and so they wanted to make it slow/ cut it and the had to ask requests to the producers, which was no. There is more but some of them I've forgotten about.
The way I like to see it, even though I know it's poor writing, is that Gosei did awake during all those other times the Earth was in danger, but saw that another team of Rangers already had it handled. Maybe he would stay awake on the off chance that one of the past teams failed to stop whatever evil was threatening the Earth. That way he would have a team of Rangers ready as a back up just in case. Another thing I like to think is that the other Rangers didn't help the Megaforce Rangers when the Armada invaded because it was a global invasion. It wasn't just contained in whatever city Megaforce was set in, but rather all over the world. Maybe the other teams of Rangers were busy defending their own cities from the Armada, only to help the Megaforce Rangers in the end to beat what was left of the Armada's foot soldiers. Again I know I'm trying to justify bad writing, but it's something at least.
Power Ranger maybe the big tiki head recorded and analyzed the rangers abilities who were there at the time like a more benevolent Dr Gero from Tales of the Monkey Queen universe FanFiction
The Disney Brain Nah, I think they are just better off copy and paste the story off of Super Sentai, they did that with Lost galaxy and samurai, might as well just do that instead of creating embarrassment like this.
The Disney Brain they had way more chemistry than gia and jake did. I almost thought it was being done on purpose.... But i admit i might have just wanted something resembling real characterization
Honestly I have Given Up Shipping Power Rangers Cause it Never Goes any Where Which is So Stupid Since Kimberly and Tommy Were Aloud To Kiss in the Original But None Since them Have Been Allowed to and the excuse that power rangers is for Kids Does not Protect them because I have seen other shows that are supposed to be for kids and they kiss
@@scottsheaves9102 Originally a kiss between Ninja Steel white and yellow happened but producers edited it out. A shame considering Nickelodeon doesn't have a problem with characters from other shows showing PDA (iCarly, Victorious, etc)
True, it's not even close to Chip's old seasons like Lost Galaxy, In Space, Light Speed Rescue even Time Force. It just simply lacks drama, character break downs. Sure the acting is getting better but it needs more than just a simple sitcom. Too much positive vibes and it's sickening. At least add in some drama like how Lost Galaxy did.
steven310250 I can't believe how meh ninja steel is even with all the back story we were given with brody you think that they'd be able to do something with that but they haven't
It would have been kind of cool if one of the rangers had a character of when they lost their megaforce powers and they were replaced by pirates....that they called it out. One was like we are still power rangers....the other one....yeah look at this " upgrade" this is definitely the back up power. Then the nerd jumps in and is like...yeah it's exactly like how the zeo power rangers became the turbo car power rangers. And we can have an episode dedicated to zeo and turbo. Just an idea.
Although Samurai wasn't the best of series you have to admit it kind of brought the show back because of the stories and growth of the rangers. Plus the Gold Ranger was kind of interesting too. But this... the only episodes worth watching were the first and very last. That's not good at all.
I don't know where but I heard one of the writers for megaforce straight up admitted that as long as its bright and colorful for the children he didn't even need or want to try making anything good out of it.
Said writer needs to be fired on the spot. Can you imagine what would happen if Pixar, a company that does appeal heavily to children, thought this way? It would be tear inducing to think of all the animated treasures we'd have missed out on.
Klonoahedgehog Good. We shouldn't have people like him who don't think they should try or else they'll bring down the franchise. Like how Michael Bay didn't try with Transformers.
Grace Morgan Because Samurai was copy pasting from Shinkenger, which is Japanese-themed, and it was a bad idea copying a Sentai season Japanese themed to America.
Champ ThePhantomThief You can’t silence the truth, buddy. No matter how you look at it, Megaforce and Super Megaforce was an embarrassment to the Power Rangers series that made their Japanese counterparts looked like masterpieces in comparison.
Yeah. Didn't Saban and Co. learn that this environment thingy didnt work way back in Wild Force? At least Captain Planet advocated actually DOING something about the environment, not just sit in nice A/C rooms and preach in your ivory tower.
What people DON’T seem to realize is that megaforce/super is SUPPOSED to be a GOESIGER adaptation, and then gokiager is awkwardly slapped on by the second half. This is ironic, since the reason why I bring this up is because to this day, whenever I hear people talking about just how much they hate this series, 95% of the time, they ONLY rant about the gokiager half, not the goesiger half. But before the final arc, the gokaiger footage gets cut off during the vrak is back 2-parter so that they can FINISH up the goeisger footage and then go BACK to the gokaiger footage.
Hilarious side note, Troy Burrows actor, Andrew Gray, was an actor in the 1313 movie Wicked Step Brother. That tells you how much they "cared" about this season.
The fact that half of this series was adapted from Gokaiger which is probably one of the greatest seasons on sentai is baffling to me. It's like they ignored everything that made Gokaiger brilliant from 6 unique and awesome characters with flaws and actual problems to guest appearances that didn't feel forced or remind you of better seasons. Like I'm fully serious on the fact that Gokaiger basically combined everything I love about pop culture. It was Power Rangers mixed with Firefly and had so much going for that I will never understand how it became super mega force.
Yep. And also, Gokaiger actually succeeded on its overall theme, "anniversary". It actually celebrated the previous 34 sentai teams in the show or its movies with actual good homages to those seasons and the returning guest actors/actresses were actually very integral/vital to the plot of their homage/tribute episode. Unlike Super Megaforce who couldnt live up to the anniversary hype and only really homaged/tributed two seasons (Samurai and Jungle Fury). The Legendary Battle was even worse. "Hey guys look its Tommy feat. Legend Rangers". For real, Emily and Jake from Samurai had no lines at all, they just take their helmets off, do nothing, then put them back on. At least some of the others did "contribute" in some way but they were pretty much overshadowed by Tommy Oliver aka "The Legend Ranger that Saban put all hype and focus on, and wanted everyone to worship when he returned"
apparently they cut a lot from those anniversary episodes. Not to mention Saban was being a cheap dick and only sent out invitations to appear in those episodes to only about 25 rangers and it was like a month before they shot. Hell there's a whole scene between tommy and the red ranger whose name I can't think of where it's just the two of them that didn't make air. Saban was going for a cheap money grab "anniversary" instead of actually making it something special like Forever red.
Eric Ratcliffe The fact that i can identify the gokaiger's personalities and can barely remember anything unique about megaforce's cast besides orion is a testament to how botched the adaptation was.
Admittedly, I haven't watched very much Sentai, which is partly why my reviews almost never mention the source material. But if I ever do, a compare and contrast video would be interesting, especially since in the case of Megaforce and Samurai, I've been told the Sentai version does everything better.
I agree; I like Samurai’s Theme better because MF’s theme starting screaming Megaforce was so annoying and reminded me of a better theme (Samurai, despite not being a good season; I enjoyed Samurai, but it’s lacking a lot).
Thanks for your content Disney Brain! Just found your channel and love it, binging on all these ranger videos. They really did. Even the embarrassingly bad RPM theme at least sounded original. But I think that Dino Charge at least did the theme tribute thing right by changing enough to really separate themselves from the original one.
Easily the worst season. And Troy is the worst ranger/actor to have EVER graced this series. His "acting" was devoid of anything resembling an emotion and the character embodied nothing but the bare minimum requirements of a team leader.. He was just a pretty face. Nothing more. Like all the other characters, except Noah. You really hit it on the nail.
I don't blame the actors for Megaforce and super Megaforce, I heard they weren't pleased with the stories and begged for better ones. The problem in general was trying too hard to be like mmpr

@@isaacogunmuko3947 Sucky thing is I'm pretty that's exactly how it happened in the Super Sentai version. All the previous Sentai teams used up their power to destroy most of or all of the Armada ships, and then their powers were scattered as Ranger Keys (or whatever the Gokaiger equivalent is)
@@thealmightyultimus3832 Yeah, there are Super Sentai version of the Legendary Battle all of UA-camr.

I would agree with that.
It’s really sad! I would have loved to see a pirate themed Power Rangers series!
Hah, and Marvelous himself stabbed himself in the foot in the meaning of saving the world.
This season was bad but what made it worst was that it was supposed to show the legacy of power rangers.

The Casual Mars true XD
The Casual Mars Jayden Shiba from Samurai/Super Samurai as the Megaforce Red Ranger?
LOL, I'm kind of surprised Jayden never ended up doing just that.

Spider-ball yeah, make the Billy Cranston knockoff the red ranger for once. give the red ranger the intellectual side.
Thanx you somebody said it

Blame nick

Even I say that Blue Saber Saga doesn’t count as character development for Noah, it was just copy-pasting Gokaiger.

zhaoyun255 wait, basco's actor offered and was DENIED?! SABAN WHAT THE FUCK?!
Millenium Beanbag Wait no i know gokaiger, but apparently I'm an idiot because i thought basco was called dante basco. -_-
zhaoyun255 damn! Basco? That would have been like the first time a Sentai actor was on Power Rangers (on purpose. I know about the editing accidents)
THAT would have been so much better.
I think this series should be rebooted except ACTUALLY MAKE THEM PIRATES
Do it like Gokaiger starts. The Armada comes down, starts fucking everything up, the Rangers have been on the run in the GokaiGalleon (or whatever we're calling it) being privateers/pirates that help out the cities that haven't been completely subjugated/eliminated.
There I've both justified using the theme of the Gokai costumes AND raised the stakes of the narrative, someone retroactively pay me.
OMG I never thought of that!

Far too complex for you to understand. LOL
Number 56: Junglezone How did Tommy get his Green Ranger powers back?
There's a simple explanation for that. :3
I do have an actual theory: remember Tommy's clone Tom that was given Green Ranger powers and ultimately went to live back in Puritan times?
("Return of the Green Ranger" Parts 1 & 2)
Theory: Tom lived back in the past, lived his life until he died of old age, and hid his copy of the Green Ranger powers where they wouldn't be found until long after the events of the Zordon Era, possibly even finding Gosei and entrusting the Green Ranger power to him, and they were then given to Tommy, probably according to Tom's last wishes.

The Disney Brain Dino Thunder IMO it's the best seasons. But I'm very biased as it saw the return of Tommy. Plus Trent was an awesome ranger
Yeah gia didn’t get any focus
“please daddy save us again"😂😂😂
I mean you had to bring back the most wooden Red you had in years at that point for a cameo because... reasons. Oh I know, because that's what the Sentai footage presented and you didn't know how to frame it properly.
Seriously, I am a HUGE Sentai nut, straight up fanboy, but I can appreciate it when Power Rangers actually tries to use the suits and themes in innovative and different ways from the Sentai. Like how they elaborated on the secondary villains in Samurai to make them less one note, I did actually appreciate that.
Easy. The writers decided to be lazy.
imdb88 they take drugs
J Smooth Soul Beats This is a franchise for children, not manchildren
Don't Forget - Gosei: THERE'S A EXPLANATION FOR THAT!
LOLOLOLOL, I REALLY want to hear his explanation for letting his mentor get captured, forcing him to sacrifice himself.

@@TheDisneyBrain Well, even you didnt like gosei. You can agree he looks cool.
@@TheDisneyBrain “There’s a simple explanation for that” and it’s “Far too complex for you to understand.”
Robo Knight isn't really a 6th ranger either.
GoldenCyclone4 There's a simple explanation for that.
TheRManProds according to Gai's Gokai Celluar he is a sixth ranger
Also like that Taylor was in the airforce
She’s not even worth the comparison
You roasted the hell out of this season
But since it had to be a secret kept away from the team, they never even thought of it.
sm4carnageihope Troy and Emma could've worked if developed correctly
The Disney Brain you’re absolutely correct. Jayden and Emily had way more chemistry because of their backgrounds, Emily had to take her sisters place when she was sick and Jayden took over for his sister until she had to take over the team
If S.P.D takes place in the future, how do they know about them....
Legodude13 Because there’s a simple explanation for that.
They Most Likely Know Because Of The Crossovers
-Bridge Was In Operation Overdrives Once A Ranger Special As The SPD Red Ranger
-Dino Thunder Had A Crossover With SPD Twice
Alternate dimension?? Idk and at this point idgaf 🤷♀️
The Morphin Grid. Taps into all past and future Ranger Powers.
Yohana Jirata no alternate universe
With the way Megaforce/Super Megaforce was handled, it seems like the crew and even Saban himself is ashamed of the Power Ranger legacy. It’s a shame when Disney and Hasbro can do PR better than the series creator.
This video inspired me to want to direct a Power Rangers season.
DO IT!!
Hell i already came up with a team that literally has every known PR color and it'd still be able to write character dev. better when you have to divide your time between at least 12 protagonists and the main villains.
@@TheBonkleFox So... Kyuranger?
Scsigs
I agree. Troy is about as interesting as a box of Frosted Flakes.
Scsigs I have never read a more beautiful rant than this.
The entire cast is a MMPR knockoff:
Noah=Billy
Troy=Jason but worse
Emma=Kimberly
Gia=Trini

I was not ready, when you said "Ohhh, this guy, I been waiting for your ass Troy" I was floored
There's only one way we can get quality back into this mess;
1.) Whoever Saban hired as writers and director should either be fired, or get a crowd of fans beat the living sh#% out of them. That second part should teach them a lesson.
this power ranger needs a redo it has so much more potential to be better i want someone to give this power rangers a redo
It is widely accepted that Super Megaforce was Super Megacrap.
But gokaiger is probably the best

I believe that the reason why it's so bad is that with everything Disney Brain said, the series was also rushed. The original Japanese series was 90 episode and the director shorten the story to 40 episodes. I mean why in the world would they do that, it's just going to force the writers to rush everything in the series
the one thing that Jake develops is black to green
LOL, his entire character arc was a color change!
I guess once you go black... you CAN go back!... I'll see myself out now...
Guess Jake likes Agri from goseiger. But he hates doc from gokaiger
And, of course, "TH.ere's a SIMple expLANATion FoR tHAt..."
Champ ThePhantomThief Even though Doc is better than Jake?
Boom! Studios already did something similar by explaining the "supersonic rangers"
The legacy battle was awesome... In the Super Sentai version
The first season to have a big continuity error since S.P.D isn't formed yet and RPM is apart of a different universe.
I think Linkara summed it best in his two hour review of the entire series. It was just plain lazy.
victor hoang Actually its 3 hours of the Megaforce Review. He said it in his Dino Super/Charge Review
My mistake, but my point still stands.
Luis Hernandez he released the dino charge review already?? Where??
AUDY1996 He release them both His UA-cam Channel and his website waaaay back in late April
Luis Hernandez really? I did not know. Thank you. Now I know what I'm doing for the next few hours
So here's what I would've done with Super Megaforce:
Give the Rangers the keys at the beginning but make them earn the use of each set of Ranger powers.
Who is placing expectations of excellence on Gia and how does that impact her? etc
yeah they really didnt earn it it was handed to them they didnt show any herorism to earn the keys
Ray Lin Would be very interesting to see Power Rangers in Wanted Posters.
This was actually the first time I watched power rangers
and so I remember quite a lot about it and this made me watch the other power rangers series
I just want to say that the actors actually didn't like there seasons
the cast on the 2018 panel morphicon and one in November 2018 were saying that they didn't like it and was making fun off it.
I just found the videos if you want to check them out

Honestly, RPM is a better "legacy season" than this. It had Astronema 2.0 and a red ranger who's basically Leo + Wes
Still waiting to see "Dino Thunder: A Jurassic Masterpiece" in my notifications.
Aww it hurts, it burns. Sitting through this and the Samurai one were more entertaining than most episodes of those seasons.
Haha, Saban should just hire me to write the seasons.
The Disney Brain agree
The Disney Brain Nah, I think they are just better off copy and paste the story off of Super Sentai, they did that with Lost galaxy and samurai, might as well just do that instead of creating embarrassment like this.
Gia and emma had probably the best relationship too bad no one was willing to go all the way with it in the end.
Holy hell, if Gia and Emma ended up together, 10/10, best season.
The Disney Brain they had way more chemistry than gia and jake did. I almost thought it was being done on purpose.... But i admit i might have just wanted something resembling real characterization
@Kimberly Tini Evans the most chemistry troy had with anyone in megaforce was with not letting an enemy take his gun. But you stay strong.

I really liked orion but he didn't hold a key to our favorite nerdy fanboy in gokaiger.
Eric, the problem is that super megaforce followed gokaiger so closely yet don't adapt the best parts of it.
Maybe Disney Brain can make a comparison between Super Megaforce and Gokaiger

But if I ever do, a compare and contrast video would be interesting, especially since in the case of Megaforce and Samurai, I've been told the Sentai version does everything better.
This season was so lazy that they actually played the Samurai theme instead of the megaforce theme in one of the episodes
I agree; I like Samurai’s Theme better because MF’s theme starting screaming Megaforce was so annoying and reminded me of a better theme (Samurai, despite not being a good season; I enjoyed Samurai, but it’s lacking a lot).
Bro, the background students in their class probably had more growth and emotion than them.
Thanks for your content Disney Brain! Just found your channel and love it, binging on all these ranger videos. Would love a video/video series on the characters from Turbo and In Space (or just In Space because it's such a deep season). These are very good analyses though, thank you so much for your effort!
Dude I forgot about Orian too LOL
I'm guilty with the Casey thing........so.......so......guilty and don't forget about the THEME SONG!!!!!! That's a good thing too!!!!!
I agree with everything you said basically, oh and the fight scenes! Some of them were pretty cool! Oh and the outfits! And the school!!! I mean those lockers are so good looking!!! Im running out of positive things too say so that's all I got, great review/rant lol
DINO THUNDER NEXT!!!! Oh you know I'm gonna talk about THAT theme song!!!!!
Oh and 10:00 funniest part of the ENTIRE video!!!! I think I died from laughing 😂😂😂😂
Dion Thunder theme is so epic, I started singing it the moment you mention it! Victory is ours forever MOOOREEE!!!!
What’s sad is that can’t even give them the credit for the fight choreography due to the fact that most of it was footage from Gokaiger.
This was the point where the theme songs got lazy
They really did. Even the embarrassingly bad RPM theme at least sounded original. But I think that Dino Charge at least did the theme tribute thing right by changing enough to really separate themselves from the original one.
@@TheDisneyBrain fun fact. if you listen to the song it warns you not t o watch the show. it says Megaforce is a Failure!
Scythe-o-roast Grizzly You mean like the time they used the Samurai theme instead of the Megaforce theme?
Noah was a highlight, but his character development felt a bit like a condensed copy-and-paste of Billy’s character development.
Megaforce made even Operation Overdrive look good.
yeah
Easily the worst season. And Troy is the worst ranger/actor to have EVER graced this series. His "acting" was devoid of anything resembling an emotion and the character embodied nothing but the bare minimum requirements of a team leader.. He was just a pretty face. Nothing more. Like all the other characters, except Noah. You really hit it on the nail.
keneticam Actually, even Andrew Gray hated the season.
keneticam Noah: I'm not just a pretty face, guys.
