Can we all appreciate the fact the new owners of the franchise followed a plot point left behind by Disney when not even power rangers own creators didn’t do that.

Fuck it i will talk about the toys. They had the fucking gold and silver morph-x keys, but could you use them in the morpher? No. The toy of the sixth ranger morpher was a nerf gun that had a flip out visor and that's it. Not even a static slot for the keys
Why didn't the Lightning Collection figure of Nate have glasses on the civilian head? Billy's head had glasses!
@@TheBonkleFox The Beast-X morphers don't have slots for the keys either, they're actually the Japanese toys (which makes very little sense because Bandai Japan made them)

The Evox reveal had my jaw on the floor. It's the kind of twist you can only get when a decades spanning series actually draws on it's history. Good to see the show runners likely actually looked back on what they had available.
I mean, it was probably brought on by Chip Lynn having wrote that cliffhanger in RPM to begin with, and Beast Morphers being his final season. But hopefully Hasbro take note going forwards.

I remember before Beast Morphers came out & news material said that the villain was called EVOX I was disappointed because I knew that GoBusters was heavily inspired by RPM & Power Rangers in general & I was thinking they should have recycled Venjix as the villain considering the cliffhanger ending in RPM, then years later I find out about the reveal & was so happy! I really felt like Beast Morphers really showed appreciation for the entire franchise
How sad is it that Hasbro did a better job than Saban on celebrating the entire history of Power Rangers, with a non-anniversary show no less?

The weaknesses in the Sentai make a bit more sense.
Red Buster is afraid of chickens and has been since he was a kid, so him freezing up is due to childhood trauma.
Blue Buster overheats because he’s working too hard and pushing his body to the limit. His violence is a result from him being super exhausted, so think “too tired to think straight or make sense”.
Yellow Buster’s weakness was actually different. Her body burned more calories with her super jumping, but instead of eating carrots, she needed to consume a large amount of sweets, similar to how The Flash handled Barry’s super-metabolism in Season 1. Nickelodeon changed it to carrots in order for it to fit in line with more of the Neo-Saban vision of the rangers.
Yellow eating carrots also works here as she has rabbit DNA and carrots are sweets for rabbits

I think if they wanted red to freeze up around a canine they could've used wolves & said he was attacked by one as a kid which is why he's afraid of them.
About the Evox is Venjix reveal: I actually really like it. It's a genuinely surprising twist that matches up nicely with Venjix's previously established motivations and character while finally developing the cliffhanger ending from RPM and giving Dr. K and Nate a character focus and progressing both stories like when Adam came back to help Carlos during In Space. It all blends together to create a satisfying finale in my eyes. Paying homage to what came before and advancing story threads seemingly put to rest or abandoned

I agree, and as Linkara pointed out the MO and other visual stylings matched Venjix to a t. When you go back looking for those hints, you can actually find them!
I think Hasbro wanted to do something that would win over the Power Rangers fandom since, at the time, they had just acquired the franchise and probably heard about how people didn’t particularly like the Disney era. So they decided to start things off by adapting a Sentai we always wanted to see adapted, while also following through on the RPM cliffhanger to show that they had our best interests in mind. L

@@NoahDaArk with the exception of operation overdrive, I don’t see why people hated the Disney era. Ninja Storm was flawed but had good characters and stories, Dino Thunder ruled, SPD is one of my all time favorite, mystic force had a stupid theme as it’s ultimate flaw, Jungle Fury is a masterpiece, and RPM is one of the darkest and best written series ever in Power Rangers. Props to Eddy and Judd for taking a goofy concept like Goonger and making a dark, gritty, and very fun series.
@@Savagewolver I disagree on Mystic Force. That theme gets me pumped but agree otherwise. The Disney Era (Kalish-plosions aside) was pretty damn good outside of Overdrive.

The evacuation scene reminded me of SPD. Boom's greatest line there was "I'm staying, because they would stay for me."
I don't really care if the callbacks were actually just tacked on because this moment gave me goosebumps.
I don't buy that anything was tacked on here, I think Judd Lynn specifically stayed on so that he can finally resolve that plot line now that the leash was off and also help the transition too.
I agree that the weaknesses weren’t handled well. They did a lot of good adapting from Go-Busters, but they really didn’t make those fit.
For anybody wondering: in the Sentai, the rangers don’t get their powers from animal DNA, but from an anti-virus program that need to beat their main villain. Because they’re now part-computer programming, they have glitches like computers: Red freezes when he encounters his biggest fear (chickens because he was attacked by them as a kid), Yellow constantly needs to recharge or else she crashes (keeping snacks and candy on her for calorie boosts), and Blue overheats when he exerts himself too much
The one thing that sold me on the Hasbro Era was the fact the Government itself knows that the past villains existed and harnessing The Morphing Grid brought trouble...and hell WE KNEW WHERE THE RANGERS LIVE INSTEAD OF A NAMELESS CITY that was most of the Neo Saban Era
Hasbro era.. lol. This is still Neo-Saban schlock. Same creatives and mandates. The real Hasbro stuff starts with the upcoming PR Reboot.

Now that doesn’t mean we should just write off Beast Morphers as “Neo-Saban Schlock” (it’s definitely no where NEAR as bad as the Neo Saban era stuff save for Dino Charge), it’s clear Hasbro was putting in as much effort as they could despite the restrictions in place from both Saban and Nickelodeon, and once they’re finally free from Nickelodeon next year… I have a feeling we’re gonna enter a Golden Age of Power Rangers

I do kind of love that while the higher-ups in this city tap the Morphing Grid for clean energy, they still decided to make a brand new team of Ranger 'just in case'...I like to imagine they were secretly Power Ranger fans as kids and now that they accessed the Grid, their inner fanboys demanded they do this.
I mean I definitely would if it was so damn close.

There's something funny about the villains basically binge watching past power rangers trying to find the right villain to resurrect. I could imagine a brief moment when someone says "what about Lothor?" and everyone in a shocking moment of unanimous agreement saying no.
Biggest failure in the series history
I loved Lothor. He was awesome and I don't get Linkara's take on him. Let's talk his background - He's an expelled ninja rogue, following evil path, that had travelled for years around the space. Probably he even was in Tavern of Evil from In Space. He's met many other rogues, with no rules and mental issues. His army was made of evil space aliens. Not only were they pure evil but they were crazy as well eg. Lothor could've been a friend of Rito Revolto, who was a dangerous idiot. Experiences like that change people and changed Lothor as well. Back at Ninja Academy he had been really serious and dark, then something happened and we ended up with crazy ninja rogue Lothor and I love it.
To me complaining about Lothor would be similar to bitching about Jack Sparrow beining Jack Sparrow vs. a real dirty, honorless Pirate.
Yeah they dropped the ball with lothor should have swapped his personality with zurgane or at least make it similar to his.
I got a funny one, what if they resurrect a villain from Megaforce or Super Megaforce, they all say no but Evox is the one that says it’s okay, revives one villain and immediately gets destroyed by the Rangers

I feel like some of Evok’s actions are also explained as Venjix learning from his defeat in RPM. He’s going after the power source of the people that kept him from complete victory. He wants to get the Morphin’ Grid before going full on invasion.
From what I know of RPM, that makes sense. Rangers staved off his victory, so if he eliminates or subverts them and their resources, he can just do the whole skynet thing over again, but this time humanity's strongest defense will be HIS vanguard.
He also must have programmed Cyber Villain Blaze and Cyber Villain Roxy to be blindly loyal to him, which is why they never try to betray him no matter how badly he treats them (which I totally expected them to do).

@Kristopher Prime Also he isn't an unknown quantity to the rangers anymore. That's why he literally rebranded himself Evok instead of using his Venjix name. If he came out and called himself Venjix; then multiple teams of rangers would be active in the Beast Morphers universe; due to how dangerous Venjix actually is.
@@trenchtierstudios554 Exactly by using the rebrand past rangers would stay out of it as they would believe the current team could handle it. If Venjix made his identity known , RPM and any other ranger with a working morpher would join the fight.
Them tapping into the Morphing Grid to use as a power source really had the same vibe as Shinra tapping into the Lifestream.

I like the reveal as Venjix being reserved for the end. Helps keep the show from being too reliant on RPM, and he feels more connected in more indirect ways. Similarities between Dr. K and Nate, and the global implications of Morph X, and tech/human relationship themes make Evox-Venjix feel like a more natural revelation.
This is why I like Hasbro. Even though they’ve become a bit incompetent with their toy distribution, they at least respect the histories of their franchises
As a non-G1 Transformers fan? That is debatable as hell. Though generally accurate.
@@rileymartin8284 fair, Hasbro does have a habit of going to G1 far too often. I’d personally love for Transformers; Animated to be revisited in some form. Or at least have the toys reissued
Some of their most recent stuff, at least with Marvel legends is SUPER hit and miss. The Disney + wave? Perfect... except for the epic fail that was Variant Loki.

@@AJSSPACEPLACE Never liked Animated frankly. Always thought it was tediously overhyped. Unlikeable characters, hideous artstyle, stupid humor, and an overeliance on clumsily inserted fanwank and references designed to suck up to nerds.
Besides it's just another G1 derived series anyway, with a few other characters from later series thrown in as further lipservice.
At this point I'd rather see a brand new cast not based on existing characters for the umpteenth time.
Even better, set it further in the future and not on either Earth or Cybertron. That would genuinely be refreshing.

I feel Mega Force should have aimed higher. This is certainly better, but Megaforce had EVERY ranger up to that point, at least in the script. That much potential should strive for historic greatness.
@@bthsr7113 You think about it as if the one in charge atcually liked power rangers. Megaforce was dead on arrival the second Tzachor was involved as showrunner.
Why? Because Tzachor is known for trying to make the Power Rangers season as much of a copy paste of the original Sentai as much as possible because Tzachor, instead of just rewatching the original sentai, prefers to remake it all over again in rangers. it started becoming obvious with time force, except time force had writers like jackie marchand who knew how to capture the essence of the original while making more changes; and it became way obvious once he got back in samurai.
And Megaforce, once we got to the super megaforce part, tzachor apparently took an apathic attitude towards the adaptation, while also, according to rumors, trying to keep the original Gokaiger footage as pure an unedited as possible thus not letting writers at least be creative enough with the footage. the perfect example of this, that might probably say its true being the episode "The Wrath", where you have original footage of a full team morph, with 4 of them morphin into 4 unadapted super sentai, and troy morphin into MMPR red, and that only because in gokaiger, the red one morphed into sun vulcan, and power rangers is legally unable to use footage of battle fever j, denziman and sun vulcan (those 3 apparently being disney property because MARVEL got involved in their production back in the day).
So basically, for the 20th anniversary season of power rangers you had a showrunner whose attitude towards' the franchise was basically "why do I have to work with this cheap super sentai knockoffs? Why can't I be working at the original. those were way better and cooler. Just dub that show".
Also some of the cooler footage like a Shinkenger / Goseiger crossover (that had a Gokaiger early apperance that was later shown in the show to be a time travel adventure), was off limits because using the movie footage requires paying extra and somehow (super) megaforce (one of the series that relied the most of stock super sentai footage, so barely any new stuff), managed to have budget problems.

Show of hands, who believes that the Dino Thunder team got to take some of that tech with them after one of the SPD crossovers, and this is why present-day teams can use their stuff on occasion?
I mean, in S.P.D. they do explain that there was a base on Earth since at least 2001. It's not too much of a stretch to assume that the Enforcer was used by A-Squad back in the day.

Venjix/Evox could be a potential game changer for Power Rangers, as he is essentially a Brainac or Ultron type character. It's a legacy villain that can keep coming with a simple explanation of a piece of them or their code survived, and would encourage more team ups with other rangers, especially the RPM and Beast Morpher rangers since they have history in defeating them. Sure, their wouldn't be much if any sentai footage for it, and therefore more expensive, but it would a character unique to the PR mythos and continuity a build upon a threat that is greater than one team, and thus creating a better need for a team up, rather than just throwing one together. And hell, since he can dimension hop, he could recruit other past villains that survived, like Octoroo from Samurai.

They wouldn't even need new footage for the most part. Any big robotic villain can be "a fragment of Venjix" in a new body, just like Evox here!
I think it's time Power Rangers stepped out of being a Sentai Adaptation. FAR too many times it's really made the show too silly.
And in other times. Idiots like Tzachor want to just DUB THE SENTAI. Which is NOT what we come to see.
The weaknesses are a hold over from the Sentai. They could have probably avoided using them if the Blue Ranger's weakness wasn't somewhat pivotal at moments, but they are mostly for comic relief there, too. Yellow's weakness is the same, but they just make it so she has to consume calories, so she snacks on candy a lot, and Red doesn't actually have a weakness, just had a traumatic experience with a chicken as a child and freezes up. Their weaknesses are also not supposed to mimic animals, but computers, with them freezing, running out of batteries, or overheating.
Go-Busters actually waited about 8 episodes before they combined the Zords. Go-Buster Ace (the Red Zord) was basically treated as the first Megazord, with Go-Buster-Oh being more of the first combination, like Dragonzord Battle Mode or Ground Gosei Great.
Gold being a mantis is dumb.
Wow, honestly I think I would have preferred the computer based explanations. Even if it wouldn’t really have jelled with the rest of the theme. Personally I would have just said that using their special powers burns a lot of energy for them and thus they can burn up or weaken in battle if used too much. Then they have to consume a lot of calories. In PR That’s essentially the case with blue and yellow, idk if you could get around that with red, but it still would have made more sense than dogs paralyzing him with fear.
I found Devon's weakness to be stupid.
@@derrickhaggard It's not much better in the Sentai, but it is better explained. While here it's "you're a cat so you're afraid of dogs," there it's that Red Buster was attacked by a rooster as a child and he'd freeze when seeing one. Both Red and Yellow had 1ish episodes where it was important to the plot, then not mentioned much after.
Blue's weakness was handled a lot better, and used more effectively. It was a legitimate concern in a lot of battles since he would attack his teammates, and he would purposefully trigger it in later fights since it allowed him to use his super strength without limit and be more ruthless.
@@derrickhaggard agreed but at least it very rarely came up. It seems like the only did it if they couldn’t get around it in the sentai footage.
I guess they just changed yellow and red's weaknesses because role models for kids replenishing energy with junk food would be a VERY big no-no to parents and the idea of being scared of chickens is too stupid even by Power Ranger standards.
My favorite line from Steel was when one of the human rangers tells Steel he can’t eat and he turned to Nate and says “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that.” Bless his circuits he managed to get me laugh twice.
i think that was even an occasional running gag once every 3 episodes. it was a fun running gag

I like the one where they are talking to the enemy dressed like a stereotypical French artist, and after hearing him ramble, Steel says "What ever that means." The delivery makes it better.
My favorite is when Blaze says he isn’t as dumb as he looks and Steel says “Jokes on you, I’m VERY dumb…wait”

50:32 - I'd imagine there's further complications to bringing back Lord Zedd include 1) He's a character made for Power Rangers, so there's no Sentai footage to use, 2) Using Steve Blum, his VA for one of the video games, would probably be expensive, and 3) Depending on how it was stored, I can't imagine that his costume is in that great a shape after 20+ years.

Tbf, most of the time they differentiated them by color and not by name in ninja storm. Just looked it up and they don’t even call them by the specific beetle names there either. Crimson is “insectezord” and Navy is Beetlezord

38:37 - I'm quite amazed the show never tried to address this before. For example, this kind of thing was never addressed during the Zordon era when Tommy and Kimberly dated, separated and then broken up via Dear John Letter leading Tommy to eventually hook up with Kat. I guess the creators of the Boom Comics thought this as well since they did a storyline about Jason and Trini "trying" to date, but then mutually deciding not to when it nearly caused them to screw up a Ranger mission. I think they were also keeping it a secret from Zordon and their teammates for that very reason. Still doesn't explain why Tommy and Kimberly being a thing wasn't seen as that big a deal but whatever.
It's likely because Tommy and Kimberly never let their relationship get in the way of missions. Plus Zordon doesn't strike me as the type to interfere with personal lives or relationships in the first place.
@@andrewkim9848 what did Zordon say something to the effect of being a power ranger sometimes requires sacrifice but it was never my intention to deny you a life experience. Zordon expected his rangers to make the right decision but respected them and knew he couldn’t deny them certain things even in the name of the greater good and it was up to the rangers to decide when the believed they had done enough and wanted to live their lives as normal people and let them draw that line themselves.

Some comments: I actually like the morphing sequence, if only for the unintended humor of seeing a rabbit roar. Really thought THAT one through, didn't they?
I like Ben and Betty. We don't see a lot of good-natured people being comic relief in the franchise, and this show gave them a lot of personality and screen-time.
The villains were also good. Maybe not the most original bunch, but I like that they had a lot of internal politicking, and yet they often scored minor victories against the Rangers or learned from their mistakes and tried again.
The Red Fury storyline is one of my favorites. A lot of emotion and one of the villains' best plans. I also like the DNA thing, since the show let the Rangers keep the powers in and out of morph form--one of my complaints with civilian powers is that they feel very tacked-on since the Rangers tend to lose them when they morph. In Beast Morphers, the powers were used to good effect, a lot of good stunts, and it helped differentiate the individual Rangers' fighting styles.
44:31 - I completely agree that the "Sheriff Skyfire" episode from Ninja Steel was terrible, mainly because of it's very confusing message. It basically says, follow the rules because otherwise you'll hurt the ruler makers feelings. While, yes, people should respect their superiors, if they're not allowed to be called out when they do immoral things then we may as well be living in a dictatorship.
Perhaps it would've been better if the lesson had been, while following the rules can sometimes be an inconvenience they exist to keep people safe. Other maybe that dickhead security head should've learned that while following/enforcing the rules are important you shouldn't do so at the expense of common sense or basic human decency.
Lastly, the real thing I wanted to talk about with this particular episode was the fact that I personally wish they would've skipped this Ninninger episode and instead adapted the one where they team up with the Red Rangers from Hurricanger and Kakuranger ranger to give us a bit of a Ninja Storm/Alien Rangers team-up. Shane's actor Pua Magasiva was still alive at the time and Aurico's actor David Bacon had just started getting in on traveling around the Fan Convention circuit.
Furthermore, I would've done away with Ninja Steel's second Halloween clip show since it's basically reusing the Halloween Intergalactic court plot from Dino Charge and extend "Dimensions in Danger" to being a two-parter.
One thing I’ll credit Beast Morphers on is having Jason as the Mighty Morphin representative instead of it once again becoming “The Church of Tommy Oliver”. I like Tommy don’t get me wrong but for so long the franchise seems to have forgotten that the show did exist BEFORE his introduction, so it’s nice to get that acknowledgment with the OG Red Ranger.
Hell you could argue there were rangers that were slightly more better than Tommy. Like RJ from Jungle Fury.

Yeah I like Tommy no question but seeing Jason again was special, Tommy returns every couple of seasons, Jason hadn't been seen in nearly a decade.
I mean 2 of my favourite returns were Adam's (who I admit I wasn't that impressed with as a kid because I was annoyed that uber cool Zack was gone); his return in Space was fascinating, it showed him as wise, gave us lore on morphers that only partiality work and showcases his nobility in using such; since not only could his enemy now kill him, his own powers could, but a friend would die if he didn't use them, so he did, because he's a hero.
Meanwhile Once A Ranger left me wanting his hybrid team to stay and become the new leads of the show.
Trust me the weaknesses of the Rangers makes a LOT more sense when you watch Go-Busters as the rangers were teleported and had an Anti-Big-Bad program fused to their DNA during the teleportation..... The weaknesses ........ COMPUTER-BASED:
Red will Freeze in place whenever he sees a chicken or hears the word chicken (This has nothing to do with any animal, he got stuck in a chicken pen and had to pee when he was a kid ..... and a chicken saw this and bite him there.)
Blue will Overheat if he uses his strength too much or if exposed to a heat source for too long. Now, this is .... actually kind of scary as he just goes absolutely SADISTIC on anyone around him to the point of him actually going a bit too far on a foe the first time he does this... OOOOO boy did he torture that poor beast. Eventually, he will just collapse and lose all stamina afterward, which will cause him to be out of the fight as he's usually in an icepack cocoon.
Yellow will Crash if she doesn't get enough calories causing her to be totally exhausted and immobilized, this is remedied by her having chocolates or other high-calorie candies that she will snack on from time to time, to the point that one of her pockets ACTUALLY has it.

To be more specific on Hiromu's weakness. It acts like how a computer crashes when there's too much activity. Because of his phobia, his mind starts racing in panic when he sees a chicken resulting in freezing.
Evox being Venjix or at least an evolution of the venjix virus was such a simple but cool plot thread to be built upon, it was speculated when Beast Morphers was announced but the impact still hits, if one good thing came out of megaforce it was the franchise started to embrace its lore and history which is refreshing to see given how disconnected a lot of the Disney seasons were.
Every single one of them had wealthy parents in positions of moderate to high political power, with their personal power being granted to them by the state through a shady selection process and ultimately a lack of workplace safety compliance. Maybe the real Morphin' Grid was the Capitalism we engaged with along the way.

The thing I loved about Captain Chaku is that the original Gavan, the first Metal Hero, helped inspire the actual Robocop (as in the creator of Robocop happened to watch an episode of Space Sheriff Gavan on tv when he visited Japan and was inspired). As a fan of Gavan, Robocop _and_ Power Rangers, that was wonderful fanservice.
On another note, it was only after watching a clip of Making Bad that I learned that Robert Axelrod had passed away. I was pretty down about that for a few days.

The Weaknesses are a plot point hold over from Go-Busters.
The main thing that goes wrong with the hold over is the red ranger freezing. In Go-busters, the actual weakness was he would freeze when he panics. The good news is, Red Buster was one of the stoic types who didn't normally panic. except... his was afraid of chickens, which for the record is "Alektorophobia"
It's played mostly for laughs, but is revealed to tied to a childhood trauma of him playing Hide and Go seek and hiding in a chicken coop...

While it made sense *for* Go-Busters. Go-Busters isn’t Power Rangers and they kept the weakness thing in Power Rangers for comic relief and stock footage purposes. The fact that Go-Busters had it so Power Rangers had to carry it over is a problem that doesn’t go away by explaining the context from Go-Busters.
@@gutsmasterson2488 It helps understand one of the only really poorly executed parts of the season and why they probably could have done better with it. "Cheetats are cats so they're scared of dogs" could have been "Devon is afraid of dogs" and used that for character development.
Flaws and specialization vs perfection was one of Go-busters sub themes as well.

not to be the "but in the sentai-" person, but iirc the weird dna alteration drawbacks of the main three rangers made more sense in go busters, where the animal themes were more secondary to the rangers' enhancements being more digital-technological based- so the drawbacks were nods to flaws you'd see in computers or digital devices, freezing up, overheating, and draining energy

I like the idea of a character sacrificing themselves for their evil clone, because they’re a good person and that’s what they’d do, and that being the motivation for the evil clone to realise that they have the capacity for good and a need to honour the life their original self gave up so they could live

Back in your mighty Morphin Power Rangers analysis, you pointed out that there’s like five or six different times we have evil Billy, Maybe it was something along the lines of learning from your mistakes and not using the same bit constantly

58:56 - I honestly never thought of this series like that, "Beast Morphers" being something of a do-over for "Megaforce". On that note, as much as I liked the Captain Chaku two-parter just fine, I personally wish they would've instead been able to use footage from Go-Busters' other Sentai teamup with Gokaiger as a means of bringing back the Super Megaforce cast and LITERALLY giving them a do-over.
For one thing, it would've likely allowed Hasbro to bring back the Ranger Key toyline and include Ranger keys of the post-Megaforce teams, with hopefully a higher quality than what Bandai of America initially gave us. Furthermore, in the movie there's this awesome scene during the Megazord fight where both sets of teams use giant ranger keys that allowed all their Megazords to transform into various Megazords of the past with all but one of them coming from seasons that were adapted into Power Rangers. That would've cool to see!
The pre-Zyuranger Megazord we saw there was the one that belonged to 1986's Flashman or the "Prism Rangers" as Megaforce called them. It probably would've been too costly to bring back two whole Ranger teams for their own separate arcs but it still would've been cool to see in my opinion.
It would have been nice, though; I mean Kamen Rider Ghost was a season fans didn't like, but returning appearances in later productions, as well as appearing in Zyuohger, improved his character and reputation greatly!
Kamen Rider Decade was kind-of not well liked initially, but returning appearances made him a beloved character, enough for some to see his appearance in Zi-O, a decent overall season, to be one of that season's major highlights
I think Ninninger went through a similar situation too; Ninninger wasn't well liked either, but returning appearances in crossover movies improved their reputation decently
Megaforce could have gotten a similar situation! I mean, you could just do a suit only appearance of them and write around it... it's not too bad, as long as you can still write them properly...
I would've killed to see Deven give Troy a thrashing.
So it's not just me that wishes they would've done the crossover. It was so good. Hasbro would've done Megaforce justice
57:14 - I really enjoyed "Grid Connection" and the episodes leading up to it despite the storylines flaws. I just personally wish they would've been able to get at last one actor from the Dino Thunder cast to return, in particular James Napier who played Conner the Red Ranger. That's mainly because in the Sentai equivalent of this storyline, they brought back both the Red Zyuranger and Abaranger with the other members of both teams being being portrayed by voice doubles. Napier lives in New Zealand so it's not like they would've had to buy another plane ticket for him. Though he said he didn't want to come back so I get it. I still find it disappointing but I get it.
Well Judd lynn got Austin st john to come back so he might’ve been able to make something happen, but James napier is also a director now so that means he’s got a busy schedtoo.
@@Cloud-dt6xb I don't know how well it might've gone but that could've been how they sealed the deal. If you come back, you can direct this block of episodes. I'm not sure whether or not that would've worked, but it would've been the first time any "Power Rangers" production had been directed by a former Ranger.
After all, Jungle Fury's Jason Smith received the honor of being the first former Ranger to write several episodes of the show during "Super Megaforce". I realize writing and directing are two different things, but hey! Anything's possible.

In terms of the Green and Pink Dino Charge Rangers only coming back for voiceover, Brennan Mejia, who plays Tyler the Red Dino Charge Ranger, said on his UA-cam channel when he did the react to the crossover, that they couldn't come to New Zealand due to other work commitments.

How sad is it that beast morphers and espically dino fury have managed to do what the entire of neo saban couldn't do, actually be good and refrence past seasons and not try to pretend they never happened or treat them as an after thought.
I loved both Beast Morphers and Go Busters. It’s interesting not only how the theme of family ties into things, but how you could also tie it into Go Buster’s original theme of human imperfection.
When not focusing on Betty and Ben, I think the wit and intellect was really good this season! Hate that someone spoiled BM for you, I really would’ve loved to see your perception going in totally blind!
I remember when Beast Morphers was airing on Nick, the Power Rangers community at that time were posting fan theories of Evox and who he really is and when the episode aired and that twist was revealed…we pretty much called it.

Even before it was airing, there was just a general desire for a Gobusters adaptation to be an RPM sequel because of the clear similarities (in fact technically Gobusters had two extra Rangers in a V-Cinema, which were green and black. Gobusters had exactly the same colours matching Go-Onger/RPM. It's why I personally pre-Beast Morphers, wanted to see an adaptation be something like an "RPM Phase 2").

From what I understand, the main reason Hasbro chose to adapt Go-Busters over other sentais was mostly so they could use the footage from the dinosaur-themed sentais teaming up, since that team-up also had the Go-Busters playing a big part (even though they weren't a dinosaur sentai). They really wanted to do that two-parter so they could bring back actors from Mighty Morphin' and Dino Charge, and boost toy sales for previous PR series.
Also explains why they chose Ryusoulger for the next season.

Here's a theory I had: Considering how this season introduced Captain Chaku (a adaptation of Gavan Type G) and he is a officer of space police force, I think this concept could be used in a future season for Hasbro to adapt "uchu sentai kyuranger", a space theme sentai who had some crossovers with the metal heroes.
It would make sense, but Kyuranger will be a bit hard to adapt. Not only did they have more rangers than any other season, but many of the suits had some gimmick to them (blue being more furry, orange having the tail, etc). Further, there were many more generals in the season meaning it would be harder to focus on them (and that was one of my least favorite parts of that season).
It did have great parts to it and it works really well for an intergalactic threat, but it would still be very expensive and difficult to adapt.

Fun story: back in 2019 I made a random fan theory post on the Power Rangers Amino Community entertaining the idea that Evox was Venjix. I was just having a bit of fun and didn't really think they'd do it...

Not sure if this was brought up here, but the reason Zoey eats carrots to regain her energy was because her GoBusters counterpart ate candy to replenish her energy. Obviously, that’s considered unhealthy for an American kids show, so carrots were the replacement. Linkara making the point that carrots are not all that good for rabbits is the nice bit of irony here.
One of my biggest issues with how Blaze and Roxy were treated in Season 2 of Beast Morphers was the fact that you have two members of Grid Battleforce who were up for Ranger status before getting put into comas yet they weren't even part of the action! Basically, they were relieved of duty is seems instead of well MAKING THEM RANGERS!
I remember when people were nervous as heck that Betty would become the Green Ranger (Hippo theme I believe) after she got stretchy powers at the end of Season 1 lol
that and they never finished off zoe's story arc by making her commander instead of devon. they should've almost had a new team-

But you might be correct. There might be plans for her in season 2 which were scrapped. I belive Megan in season 1 was used just to make story closer to Sentai where her counterpart attacked the Busters with Lion Mecha.
@@OurKindofEntertainment yup. she is basically the modern ay billy.or spd b team. the narrator asks why she didn't make it before and my answer is beast morphers takes a cue from spd. roxy, blaze and rai look like atheletes like a squad in spd. zoe looks like a bridge carson. the commander was running a gi joe like organization and of course wan the perceived best and brightest. they should've made devon give his same speech at the end but since all hope was loss, everyone barely hears him. but then zoe speaks and reminds them that she was once a laundry girl who became a ranger. then you can have ppl like megan, cole the security guard and others she defended echo her call
@@OurKindofEntertainment It is a shame because it would have been cool to see Blaze and Roxy get new Ranger forms and fight against their evil avatars and beat them like how Trent beat his Evil White Ranger Clone.
Honestly, I can forgive Beast Morphers' failings for everything new it tried to add to the Power Rangers formula. This show felt like a breath of fresh air, and giving the driving seat to Hasbro was the right call for me.
Also, as Evox said, he _was_ Venjix. My personal headcanon is that Evox is some reincarnation or "update" of Venjix, hence why he refers to itself as Evox.
Hell he even said, "with the full power of the Venjix virus..." As if he was referring to his old self as a different entity.
I agree with you tenfold. The failings of Beast Morphers had nothing to do with Hasbro but everything to do with Saban and Nickelodeon. Saban was still around during the production of BM’s first season (hence why it’s the only one that has a Halloween and Christmas episode), which could explain some of the failings there. Plus Nickelodeon are a bunch of cowards who think kids are idiots and only want fart jokes and gross out humor. And considering the fact their contract for Power Rangers expires next year, it looks like Hasbro isn’t showing any interest in renewing the deal

I totally agree with you about Ben & Betty: early on, I enjoyed their shtick because I viewed them as incompetent, but as the 2 seasons progressed, I saw them as so much more than their bumbling nature. Then, I just felt sorry for them whenever something went badly for them that was out of their control, because it was as though the universe just hated them in particular.
However, I do disagree with you about "It's Great to be Human": I may have felt bad about Nate during the first time Steel sang it (basically telling him "Ha ha, you're not human anymore"), but even then, I couldn't deny the sheer energy of the song and Steel's 20 charisma making it kind of fun. Then there's the reprise in the finale where I could just enjoy it. I think Mack would enjoy it, too
'It's great to be human' is the best way to make someone permanently deaf from bleeding ears.
The message seems a bit confused. I thought the idea was about embracing ones humanity even if one isn't human. But instead 'machine bad, human good'.
Ben and Betty get on my nerves sometimes but only cuz it seems like the writers took Gem and Gemma and just made them Bulk and Skull. Their dialogue was cringe, their acting was OTT, you sometimes feel bad for them whenever the universe conspires against them, but they also purposefully put themselves in harms way. ALL. THE. TIME. And the fact that they never receive any reprimands for their screw ups is just irritating because they were always in fear of getting in trouble, but they never get in trouble. Not even from their Dad.., THE GENERAL. Which means those characters have specific character shields that protect them from suffering from actual real world consequences for messing up. And the Blaze and Roxy thing... we get no distinction between Blaze as a human and Blaze as an avatar. He is a douche bag either way. And Roxy, she's Ravis ex, then current girlfriend.., that's it. And then when they wake up, they just bigger off cuz they resurrect the evil Avatars, this making the whole point of saving Blaze and Roxy pointless.
Also if this shows theme was about family WHERE THE HELL WERE BLAZE AND ROXYS PARENTS???? WHY DID THEY COME IN ASKING WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO OUR SON AND OUR DAUGHTER??? Also why the Hell didnt Grid Battle Force just provide.cover stories for Devon and Zoey? The stuff with Devons Dad was so damn contrived. And it also makes things kinda moot since the Ranhers.usually show up to a scene of an attack UNMORPHED anyway. Kinda defeating the purpose of a secret identity when you morph in public ALL THE TIME

Blaze and Roxy were really wasted. ESPECIALLY Blaze. At least one episode with him as focus saying that, he seeing his evil avatar self made him think about how he behaved would have been enough to give him development. I wish the footage had gotten a little more creative and the final battle between their sentai counterparts had been somehow like SPD's "Jack borrowing his morpher to Sky". With somehow Roxy using ravi's powers to defeat robo roxy for good. otherwise both blaze and roxy are wasted
the sad thing is that had Kyuurangergotten the adaptation instead of ryusoulger into dino fury, there were rumors that Blaze (same character and actor) would have become the red ranger of kyuuranger's adaptation and honestly that would have been interesting to see

10 months late, but this is a better anniversary season than Megaforce, and it isn't an anniversary episode. I'm not sure how they managed that. This is so well entrenched in power rangers mythos.
I absolutely LOVE these 'History of Power Ranger' videos that you do. I don't know anyone else who would take the time to put together such a detailed and interesting synopsis of each season -- and I'm thankful that you take the time to do it. It lets me take part (at least a bit -- and be more current) in a franchise that I loved as a kid... but honestly haven't actively watched in years. Thanks again for taking the time to do this. Much respect! :)

Yeah. So what if the Evox is Venjix reveal was “tacked on”, they treated it with the respect and grander you’d EXPECT from a reveal like that!
The thing I still love about the Hasbro deal was that the announcement of Hasbro taking over toy production for Power Rangers came only nine days after Kyuuranger concluded airing in Japan.
Kyuuranger, as far as I remember, specifically had Bandai heavily involved in the production as preparation for the "inevitable" Power Rangers adaptation, so that they could make absolute BANK on toy sales in the US and Europe.
Pretty much its expected to be adapted as well

Kyuranger has a ton of rangers and we better not forget it could pretty much connect perfectly with the Omega Rangers introduced in the Boom Comics ( their designs clearly inspired by that season, and them making a cameo during a page showing rangers from all over the franchise, including Gosei Green as well )
A lot of fans including me want to see either Kyuranger, or Lupinranger vs. Patroranger as the next/30th anniversary adaption. Though some say Lupinranger vs. Patroranger may not get adapted due to the "darker story theme" of morally right vs. legally right, which me and most fans call BS on as there have been Power Ranger seasons that have dealt with dark story themes before.
My cynical side says that the whole "connection to previous seasons and Power Rangers mythos in general" is a ploy by Hasbro to validate themselves as the new handler of the Rangers.
My optimistic side says that even if above is true, there probably were creative people who did want a Megaforce do-over and demonstrate how one *could* connect a season of Power Rangers to all the previous seasons without making it an actual continuation.
Honestly I really like the idea of specific weaknesses, maybe just because I like the superhero style. Even if the ones they picked are a little goofy.

Honestly Megaforce might have paid off for once. Devon's research may have used Noah's ranger database, which could have potentially been made available to every dimension with rangers in it thanks to the efforts of wes and company
Noah made that database? I thought Gosei had in store given gosei looked like he was the "in case evertyhing fails" storage / arc for everything.
It would be interesting that their big reunion in Megaforce inspired the smartest rangers available, (like Billy, Rose, Ethan, Cam, Kat Manx, Dr. K, Haley) and the ones with the most amount of resources (Mack and Andrew Hartford, Wes, Sky or whoever was supreme SPD commander, Ryan or whoever is the one in charge of Aquabase know), or others who fall into similar categories of knowing important people (Tommy, RJ, the Mystic rangers, the In space/turbo and lost galaxy rangers and NASADA, the mighty morhin and zeo teams) to make a Ranger network for the big stuff just in case of invasions like that
that later on they added Dino Charge offscreen and Ninja steel during dimensions in danger.
Maybe even saying Grid Battleforce was made thanks to Wes's, and the Hartford's companies and as a extra partner of lightspeed rescue and the silver guardians
@@ianr.navahuber2195 ngl, ninja steel and beast morphers feel like they're building on that concept of Hexagon. We've effectively got a network that lets rangers communicate with one another to request information and aid. It's one of the things I'm gladly gonna give credit to ninja steel for. It's a cool idea and I'm happy they're making it work
I ended up not finishing this series (not because it was bad, but because I watched one and a half seasons in one sitting and then my ADHD said "No" to watching more ever since) but I'm still glad I got to follow through on this series through your analysis.
It really, really sucks that people spoiled it for you though. They... REALLY need to watch it with that.
