Good video buddy. I always use ARP lube, also you have to lube the underside of the bolt head that touches the cap because the friction can throw out your torque value. Always start from a less torque setting and work your way up the the torque of the data sheet. Don't go to the full torque value. So basically once you have the correct stretch then you record your value on the torque wrench and thats what you use to do the rest.
No one else explained this process and good as you. Thank you for your time and information!
Really appreciate these videos man , New to rebuilds so very helpful 👊🏼🔩
This is by far the best tutorial of measuring the stretches on the rod bolts! Thank You so much! Much Love!
Some good information G. Appreciate the content learning a lot. 💯🐐
Dude! Great job on these videos. I really appreciate the detailed step by step on this series. Keep up the good work!
Very informative, thank you. Epic project
Love watching these Videos bro, keep it up man 👌🏽👌🏽
So rad bro! Really appreciate your time!
Outstanding video - great explanation
Good work dude I like how you explain it step by step keep up the good work
Thank You. Very informative and useful.
Keep it up!! great info!! Thanks
Very well explained thank you
Good job bro very detailed
Nice approach
Did anyone else instinctively check their iPhone at 1:37? Great videos by the way, I'm learning a lot of good info. Looking to K-swap my em2.
Good stuff, thanks.
I really like the way yo explain all this , i Would like to build my k24a2 you watching me and learn from you lol ..
Im slow I watched this video at least 4 times to fully understand you explained right I’m not mechanic so .... I got it now bruh thanks
Thanks! I was eying the ARP stretch gauge but since I'm only going to stretch 8 ARP2000 rod bolts I cannot justify the price. I went for a Proform 66788 and I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality, it's a well-made tool and it is very repeatable, it does the job for 1/3 the price. My ARP bolts and studs each came with their own tiny spec sheet.
Yeah I looked up the arp stretch gauge after watching this and nearly shit myself after seeing the price. Is there really any difference in between them? Because I was thinking of going for the proform one too
Great video man 🤔
Good job. I have 2 myself. Makes it easier
The way I measure a bolt is with a wrench. I also learned something new, the way you measure with a caliper and a calculator.
I adore your videos ✔🔥🔥
Always excited to watch it fast
So much talent🔥👍👍
Im from Mauritius island ..
Any car ecu tuning course available in any country you know please ?
In your scenario where bolt ‘B’ was over stretched, is it acceptable to slightly loosen bolt ‘B’ until the bolt stretch is within the specification, disregarding the torque specification?
Thankyou
He's right about stretching those rod bolts. Don't reuse the old ones when rebuilding.
Ask me how I know..
What's up!! Man this 30 weight oil isn't cutting it.. bolts would not turn any more. So I used a tiny bit of arp fastener. Then I was able to get it. Still was super hard.. same arp bolt guage. I got 0060 on each bolt.. besides one of them witch is 0070 think that's to much? Should I replace it?
Another one!
Stretch to the strecth recomend NOT byt he trq spec lb?
Also remember there can be very, very slight variations in rod bearings and/or caps giving you slight variations in stretch readings for your bolts, but no worries
Yep I think this is why I was able to get 7 of them perfect but one , max stretch was 0062 ones at 0070 but the rest are at 0060.. not sure if that's gonna work.
@@noblewon3507 Did you end up throwing a rod or nah lol
@@dkis8730 lmaooo nah man didn't run the king race bearings broke it down and used acl got what I was looking for. Ironically I'm supposed to do the drop tomorrow with my friend .. it came out great!! I did a pretty nice motor I'll be dropping the video soon
@@noblewon3507 damn do you know what you did wrong? Im building a motor for my first time, and I'm nervous as shit. I was planning on using ACL bearings though, checking all the clearances and everything so I'll get the necessary color Honda bearing if needed
@@dkis8730 yep the bearings were bad quality. thrust washers were thiner as well. To lose oil clearance and too much crank play
What’s people’s opinions on torquing them up bit by bit until the stretch is perfect?
Great videos by the way, thanks for your help!
You can get better results torque- back up- retorque half way and then use final torque
So when or how do you decided the bolt is just no good?
When the bolt stretched more than 1 thou at its resting state when compared with when it was new
If you’re not holding the caliper perfectly perpendicular to material being measured the measurement will be slightly off
You measure bolts on the un threaded part of the bolt, not on the threaded part
