Bigger is not always better, to big could hinder flow for horsepower. Check out engine masters on motor trend they to explain things although they do use V8’s but the explanation is the same on any motor
I agree that it's a balance of flow and velocity to match the block and intake manifold but I think Mike is trying to point out that ultimately if you restrict your flow you loose horsepower and if your going for 1000hp you will need the max flow available
Solid simple recipe for a built k20/k24... ported PRB head, ferrea 6000 series valves, supertech 95lb springs & retainers with prayoonto stage 4 cams. Stock K24a2 block with ported type s oil pump, inline pro tensioner, drag cartel billet lower timing chain guide, DC lower timing gear with keyway... 3” 4-1 header, Skunk 2 Ultra Race Intake manifold & Ross machine 90mm TB. You will safely touch nearly 300+hp with a stock bottom end! We have seen it done and it will last! 👍🏽
90mm TB seems like overkill. Wouldn't a 80mm give almost the same power with better throttle response? Or does the stage 4 cam want that much more air?
@@stutzman999 the stage 4’s have a nice amount of duration so the 90 would be quite ideal imo. The real downside with the 90 is the daily drivability is a bit rough so an 80mm would definitely be nice for a smoother daily driving experience but the 90mm just takes some getting used to. Currently we’re running a much more aggressive Ultra 3 cam on with stock block/ 90mm TB & it’s quite a fun street car!
My personal tip is when it comes to headers if you’re not going with a compression higher then 12.5:1 then don’t do a big tube 4-1 header. All stock block K’s need a big tube 4-2-1 header preferably like a TRI-Y design header because they flow very well and it keeps carrying the power range up top instead of falling down like 4-1 headers tend to do. Yes 4-1 headers will makes more power but they suffer up top with stock compression K’s and it’s pointless to have a lot of power if you can’t even deliver it right. I’ve come to this realization after seeing the dyno graphs on many many K cars my tuner has messed with and feeling it myself on my personal car when I made the change since I’m on a stock block 24 👍
I agree with you thr the question is how much ho can you get from that build without raising the Cp 12.5:1 or higher because you gonna spend a lot of money.
Wow that's interesting. I was planning on just a simple mod. Maybe to get another 50 horse out of my car at some point I've got a 2013 CRV. And it would be a sleeper It's already put out 185 stock, so very compelling video. especially for people who wan to mod their engine to its maximum potential
I know there’s a lot of information here and you don’t want to overwhelm the listeners, but talking about cams would also be good to note, such as the most aggressive oem cams (best bang for the buck is ‘06 tsx cam. And talk about a couple after market cams. Also the 50 degree cam gear/sensor
I saw in another channel that aftermarket cams can cause issues with the chain tensioners. Boosted engines really don't need any cams other than stock to get up to 800hp.

very informative. thanks for providing this information in a very simply way. searching for all this on the internet can be a hassle and kind of confusing. having a video explaining which parts to buy to build a k24 makes it some much easier. cant wait to see you engine finish being built and in your car.
You all need to look at the parts you can pull from a RDX K23 engine, the rods in those are bigger than the tsx and can bolt right into the 24 block (keeping the old pistons) you can take the head and turbo that have turbo on them STOCK, and can bolt not to any other K Series. It also has ports to cool the turbo IN the block. I'm using my old Honda Element K24a4 block and buying a K23 for with 80k on it for only $600 turbo and all. Because no one messes with K23 they are CHEAP. I'll start vlogging my progress soon.
You should have talked about stock cam options for those who don’t want to break tensioners with aftermarket cams. Tsk 06-08 are the best but I’ve seen some interesting mix and match depending on which style of head you are running because the intake only vtec heads have a lot of potential and actually work with a turbo very well without vtec killer

Nooooooo WAaAAAAAAY! Genius🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
Thanks for the video Mike, very thorough with the info!
I have to find the source but I read that the F20C (not F22C) oil pump is better than the K20A2 or Z1 because the engine already has a higher rev limit. What are your thoughts on that?
About the skunk2 intake manifold does it cover the water ports or is it cut short unlike the stock mani and do I order a skunk2 one for the k24 or 20
What pistons do you need for the k24a4/ k20z3 head ?
which k20 block do you suggest
Was there ever a write up done like this some where? Just trying to gather info for a k24/k20 setup in an 8th gen.
What about sensors? Do I just reuse everything from the K24? I have a JDM K24a (A2 equivalent) longblock and a 03 Type S head that I'm swapping on.
I have 71 240z and it boosted but im on my 14th transmission and I've always wanted to swap a k24 but I'd have to put a ton of money into a good transmission. I really want is like a six-speed sequential.
Hey @Diymike I love how you explain things… I wanted to swap my 04 Honda Accord Ex Sedan, and put a k20 engine from a Acura.. and work on the engine from the outside then install it to the accord… the only problem dude is I want to do this to an automatic….
People telling me add a new intake manifold injectors and also new exhaust manifold and exhaust system and so more other things to make more hp… I wanted to gain more hp but I also know I have to get a Hondata or a K tuner … I wanted to ask you what’s the best way to do it with my AUTOMATIC… I don’t want insane hp but a good number
What about k24z2? I plan on putting a k24a2 head from a tsx on it. I know ill need a machine shop to modify one of the cooling ports. How do you get the cars ecu to accept the head change?
Would you know a good place to search for the K20A head. I only see the k20A2 all places
So if i get a k24A imported and i have a k20A2 head, wich head would give me more power? The imoorted one or the US k20A2 head?
Thanks in advance!
I am planning to swap K20 with K24. Which assembly parts will be replaced and which K20 parts will keep running as it is? Blocks, Cyclinder head, Headers?
The reason I want to do this is to achieve same Horsepower and low-end torque as CL9 with Stock K24.
Can someone explain in detail?
i have a k24a2 going into my ep3. does everything swap over fine or will it need modifications
Hi im looking for information on just basically swapping out a k24z from a 2011 accord special edition its tired and swapping in a tsx k24a id like to find out what all is necessary for the engine and trans to work properly with simple bolt ons
K series turbo manifold which is better ?
Can you go over the k24 with k20 head horsepower benchmarks and what needs to be upgraded to run each level of horsepower?
TSX K24A DOHC RBB V TEC Engine also can i use the PRB 2002-2006 RSX TYPE S Head on a 95 HONDA PRELUDE THANKS
Any recomendation oil brand and viscosity for k20 k24 allmotor std king race bearings near 300hp for daily use??
I'm sure there's a few that might run Amsoil, but for everyone else including me, likes running to their nearest walmart to grab quality fullsyn oil off the shelf is convenient as well as the price i.e. Mobil1 or Pennzoil.
5W-30 is a go to for anyone that lives in the rust belt
