It's one of those things where once you actually start drifting at that level, you realize how difficult and perfect that whole sequence was. To the naked eye it just looks cool and easy. However once you're in that world and have actually drifted on that level you start to notice the level of execution here is fucking insane. Keiichi is and always will be the Drift King.
Keiichi Tsuchiya is the drift king! He popularized drifting on mountain roads. If you are familiar with the D1 Drifting competition, then you would know who Keiichi Tsuchiya is.
Same could be said of the Mustang. Ford intended it as a sporty commuter car. Carol Shelby called it the Secretaries car. Both the 86 and the Mustang are proof you can make any car fast and handle well with enough money. :)
You came to the wrong video if you wanted to see an AE86 going fast, this is Keiichi having some fun. I recommend the video 'AE86 vs Skyline R34' if you want to see him actually driving it quickly, with something to compare it to. =)
Actually he does and he appears to be old friends with Bunta... Tsuchiya Keiichi Voice on the Phone to Bunta in Stage 1, Ep23. This is actually Tsuchiya Keiichi, who is considered the father of Drift and who is on the Technical advisory crew for the Anime series. In Ep2, First Stage, the Speedstar drivers are shown watching and chatting over his video. Takumi buys Tsuchiya's Best Motoring Video Special Vol. 41 video in Third Stage. Here in the series, Keiichi and Bunta appear to be old friends
thats also true, in fact i was thinking about that when i made that comment. i just think drag is mostly the car and technical/touge racing is mostly driver basically, in drag, whoever has the deeper pocket wins
@pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR yes, the lift Back Corolla is a pretty car. oh they don't have there in the US? i rode in one of those too. one thing i love about that car is it was an FR car, just like the AE86.
Woot! Thats what I did, I found a lady and bought it for $350 AUD. She didn't know anything about how much it was worth and she was the first owner of it.
@Axxisss 'cuz the anime "Initial D" popularized the AE86 and drifting. And Initial D is known by many anime fans and the Japanese are anime fans so yeah.....
I tried this kind of driving in my righteous 1978 corvette with the mountain mural and side pipes & under car neons (total chick magnet) but I keep ending up on the sidewalk or in a field. I wish I still had my ae86 with the special edition drift button. But it was kind of slow compared to my sweet Vette. R U JEALOUS?
it's "barely drifting" because tsuchiya is preforming a race-drift. it minimizes steering angle and reduces the time needed to grip tires back--not to mention he's probably doing it faster than you. show drifts have steep angles, but regain traction slower (meaning a slower exit speed).
I know I'll get thumbed down here but I was reading the posts here and they seem quite informative. I have a '87 Toyota Corolla SR5 notchback that I have put over 6g in just to get it street worthy and repair body work after two wrecks and I still haven't done any engine work. I like the car but I don't know if I should have poured this much money into a 22 year old car...any responses are welcomed :).
@Cadabra91 Agree, but you got to please the masses in america over the few. They don't understand the skill difference over japanese drifting and WRC over just pull the hand break and nail the gas.
But the GTS, and other GTS variants where made for performance driving. Some came from factory with an LSD, along with other features that DO NOT come in a grocery getter. Of course there where plenty of SR-5 and other carbureted models that where nothing more than daily drivers. But the GTS, was not at all a grocery getter. A stock GTS will outhandle most cars out there. Mod them a bit and they become pure gold.
I'm sorry, but I believe this is a closed race course and a professional driver (There is a reason they call him the Drift King) driving a professionally tuned machine (And a fine it is with that 4A-GE silvertop tuned by TRD)
in my opinion, ae86 is faster than most silvias and rx7's, ive driven ae86, rx7 fc, and s13, and i gotta say, the way an ae86 drives the way it does is beyond my comprehension
yea till u get to straightaway. once your going straight power dictates speed. so going back to your Silvia comment. assuming your talking about a stock ae86, physics say the silvia will pull away. however like all true track drivers, it depends on who's behind the wheel. a better statement would be "you achieved a better laptime with YOUR ae86 then YOUR silvia."
my left ear enjoyed the glorious sound of 86
Lol it _was_ posted at the beginning of UA-cam though 🤭we’ll cut them some slack
😂😂 thanks bro I was wearing a headphone in my right ear 😅😅
It was my right 💀
Bros wearing earphones inverted
Keiichi Tsuchiya = Real life Bunta
Keiichi was a friend of bunta in initial d XD
Takumi🔥🔥🗣️🗣️
@@am_sousa2246friend but also his rival
This is actually the best form of drifting. No 1000hp, little to no smoke, and is applicable to track racing.
Totally
Just bulk skill
He utilized it to go faster, this is the real purpose for drifting.
If you do this in high level touring race car, its over for your pace and tire wear, actually its over for good race.
I love watching the drift king at work. He makes it look so easy.

Theres people drifting in virtual games that almost makes the irl drift physics theres a UA-cam named carmighty tried it
@@Dabuilder1 what game
his drifts are so clean and smooth as always, best control ever.
The drift king and his legendary hachi-roku.Amazing!!!
Mmmm. AE86. Now THIS is ASMR. no BS, no brainrot, just the engine, the tires screeching and some random japanese man.
*DO YOU LIKE*
*MY CAR*
a little late, but good thing i watched this video before all the normies swarmed it
Justin least popular comment:

man my left ear loves the sound of drifting!
Same could be said of the Mustang. Ford intended it as a sporty commuter car. Carol Shelby called it the Secretaries car. Both the 86 and the Mustang are proof you can make any car fast and handle well with enough money. :)
that was an extreamly clean drift
He's legend ❤😇👍👌👏😍❤️😎🔥 no one can do better than him❤
This man singlehandedly invented a new form of driving.
This is drifting, always and will be real drifting
King of Drift in the best drifting car ever! AE86 aka. Toyota Corolla 86
Shit.. the moment he drift, looks super beautiful and mesmerizing.. damnn😮😮
tsuchiya has the best driving skills!!

precisely, and the thrill is much higher also
Sorprendente el tiempo que tiene este video subido a UA-cam.

Toyota Power!! Gotta love the engine note...
He REALLY! is the DRIFT KING!

THEE Drift King!!
DAMN!
I Love This Car!
What is life without AE86!?! :)
Very cool!
Japanese cars 4 life!!! I live in Greece and Japanese cars especially Daihatsu are very popular here...
I love the sound of 4A-GE 20V
Wow what a pilote ❤
great sound
The Little Hachi-Roku! My Favourite
no... what is life without DRIFT!!
Damn I would have loved to be around when these things first went into production.
HE THE BEST!!!
now time to drift in the twin turbo skyline
genial el video. el sonido que procude el motor se escucha similar al auto de takumi fujiwara de initial D
feint drift!!!!!
thats also true, in fact i was thinking about that when i made that comment. i just think drag is mostly the car and technical/touge racing is mostly driver
basically, in drag, whoever has the deeper pocket wins
yeah bebeh~!
Uau como é bonito fazer um drift em uma curva
Hachi-Roku FTW!
That reminds me with my Trueno in IDAS5 LOL
OMG look at 00:12 his speed in da drift is fast mad clean
@816murphy yeah AE86s are are quite rare here in the Philippines.
lots of AE92s though.
@pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR yes, the lift Back Corolla is a pretty car. oh they don't have there in the US? i rode in one of those too. one thing i love about that car is it was an FR car, just like the AE86.
ITB´s FTW!!!!!!
I wasn't talking about cars, but the skill. Keiichi Tsuchiya is the drift king and I was relating his title to Bunta's driving skills.
dat engine sound
good job
dori dori practically invented pavement drifting, he used it when he raced circuit
handling is a part of speed
Woot! Thats what I did, I found a lady and bought it for $350 AUD. She didn't know anything about how much it was worth and she was the first owner of it.
HACHIROKU FTW
damn that car sounds like an S2000 engine
@Axxisss 'cuz the anime "Initial D" popularized the AE86 and drifting. And Initial D is known by many anime fans and the Japanese are anime fans so yeah.....
Damn! Why isn't this video any longerrrrr?!!!
@o0oMusTaNgLoVero0o dude isn't Toyota Leafback a Corolla? I remember riding them in Pinas when I was younger. They don't have that here in US
I tried this kind of driving in my righteous 1978 corvette with the mountain mural and side pipes & under car neons (total chick magnet) but I keep ending up on the sidewalk or in a field.
I wish I still had my ae86 with the special edition drift button.
But it was kind of slow compared to my sweet Vette.
R U JEALOUS?
TRD FTW
is it me or is the sound only coming out of the left speaker?
whoa..........
it's "barely drifting" because tsuchiya is preforming a race-drift. it minimizes steering angle and reduces the time needed to grip tires back--not to mention he's probably doing it faster than you.

Toyota should make a car under his name
could somebody tell me if that's front wheel or back wheel braking? its front right?
Gotta be on time to send tofu.
its not really a part of speed, but it is dictated by speed. so in a sense yea ur right
@sleomazzola thank you
yeah.. that's the sound of vtec killer....
Cooool
Holy shit! I was watching Initial D the other day.
oh man, I feel so sorry to hear that, any chance of buying it back from the person who bought it at the auction?
I know I'll get thumbed down here but I was reading the posts here and they seem quite informative. I have a '87 Toyota Corolla SR5 notchback that I have put over 6g in just to get it street worthy and repair body work after two wrecks and I still haven't done any engine work. not bad,... haha- serious ae86, what i'd give to own his own one
dictated by speed?
the faster you go through a corner, the faster you arrive at a straight away and the faster you are going through that straightaway
What drift technique is he using?
DK!!!!
tsuchiya could beat a skyline on a 4 wheeler...this guy can do anything with a fuggin car
Ok what engine do this ae86 have , that sound is crazy lol
wow.
@Cadabra91

What is power without control?
And it became very popular after a certain guy used it for delivering tofu...
I'm sorry, but I believe this is a closed race course and a professional driver (There is a reason they call him the Drift King) driving a professionally tuned machine (And a fine it is with that 4A-GE silvertop tuned by TRD)
Sorry didnt see you put FC was tired at the time
No tofus were delivered late in the making of this video
That's the 4 throttle sound ... louder than vtec
the back end looks more like wataru's Levin
I'd trade my 300zx twin turbo anyday for a nicely setup Hachiroku like this one.
i want an AE86!!!
but theyre so expensive for a 20 year old car :(
and plus all my friends say its ugly Dx
i say its the FUCKIN BEST!!
in my opinion, ae86 is faster than most silvias and rx7's, ive driven ae86, rx7 fc, and s13, and i gotta say, the way an ae86 drives the way it does is beyond my comprehension
This little show is nothing compare to what he can do on the tracks. There is a reason why they call him drift king.

how did it save your life?
