I have a question and I have little to no experience so what I’m trying to duplicate is something I saw online and with 1.8 thousand comments I cannot find a recipe what I see is a metallic silver basecoat with candy, purple or red on top of that and then the car is finished with a Black and of course there’s clear on top of that, and I’m tempted to just go get rattle cans since I don’t have the experience, I have access to compressors and spray guns Even a booth but no one will really take the time to help me do what I want to do and I was wondering if I’m correct then that if I get a metallic silver basecoat, I can spray a candy collar on top of that and is that an acrylic or is it an enamel? What am I looking for or is candy collars only come in one type and then I want to go over the top of that in black and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to use as it on a urethane painter or whatever, I have no experience or knowledge about it and if you wouldn’t mind telling me with these three colors, I guess this silver metallic basecoat with the red or purple second color and then the black on top. Of course it looks crazy when it’s done and then there’s three clear coats, and I want to put metal flake in it as well. Would you mind going over what type of paints I can apply as I realize that if I just start buying different products, they might not lay on top of each other properly as far as going from color to color and then even the clear if you wouldn’t mind and I am going to subscribe now just watching that paint in the mix was like a fly to the flame for me. I’m going back to watch some more lol.
@@chriscal8201 I honestly don’t know much about painting either my dad painted this a few years back but I can tell you it was painted on a black primer and when it was all done it ended up looking more like a cranberry color we didn’t even paint it in a booth we just waited till the weekend so nobody would come in the shop. Also this is enamel paint. It went on a drag car so he wanted something easy to paint and super inexpensive and wasn’t too worried about imperfections. Sorry you didn’t get the answer you’re looking for.
@@chriscal8201what you’re wanting to do is lay black candy over over regular candy paint. You can also experiment with this by painting black candy over regular metallics and pearls to save you some money. Just search up black candy on the internet and watch some videos
Do you have a video of it after sprayed wondering how it turned out? Also what settings/ steps did you use to lay it down. Tip,psi, 5-6in away? Used as basecoat, what color sealer/primer under. Sorry for so many questions. I just got this exact kit my first paint job on a 81 f100 flareside
I'm sorry I dont have a video of the after spray but it did look more like a burgundy after it was sprayed and that's with a black primer underneath. I'm not sure how he sprayed it but he does it a little different then the instructions but it turned out pretty nice. Of course my mom who picked the color to begin with said she didn't like it but he was really happy with how it turned out.

That’s not true candy , true candy is translucent, spray on a base color. There isn’t any metallic pigment in it . It’s hard to spray because of the overlapping it can leave dark stripes . If you sprayed true candy on glass you could see right through it !

That's not candy. I don't care what they're calling it, it's not candy paint. Candy paint is transparent, that's why it's called candy. Because in the paint cup, it doesn't look like paint. But it's still a beautiful color, and resembles candy paint, but candy as I said I'd transparent, and leaves a reflective effect with the base coat, and a deep color effect, because it is deep.
it definitely was not a candy paint, and it ended up looking cranberry colored also, but it was cheap and was for a drag car. it ended up getting wrecked because someone blew up on the track and nobody noticed the oil and my dad ran over it and ended up spinning out and hitting the wall. he said this time its gonna be blue
@Llama_Club05 I figured that's what it would have looked like. A candy is easy to do though. Most toners they use to mix up auto paint are transparent. All you need is to paint it silver or gold. And get a dark red transparent toner. And mix it in the clear. Or blue too. A transparent blue over silver looks amazing.
Candy apple red is the color…the company isn’t selling it as a candy paint there’s a big difference which you already stated…but for any onlookers don’t confuse candy apple red which is a just color that can be gotten in a single stage kit with candy paint…
@@heiseye9941 you’re 100% spot on Like I mentioned in a comment above we got it because it’s cheap and the enamel is easy to work with if it needed to be painted or touched up cause it’s a drag car it’s gonna get wrecked or dinged up and sure enough it did

That’s not true candy , true candy is translucent, spray on a base color. There isn’t any metallic pigment in it . It’s hard to spray because of the overlapping it can leave dark stripes . If you sprayed true candy on glass you could see right through it !
