When my son was little, I got him a battery powered motorcycle, that really looked real. A friend of mine was a custom painter. He painted the tank on it black, then used some stencils to airbrush red skulls on it, then shot gold metal flake over it. Then he taped off a flame pattern and sprayed branydywine over the rest. It was awesome. It was bandywine metal flake with gold metal flake flames with ghost skulls that showed up at certain angles. That was the coolest thing a boy could have gotten for his 4th birthday. He also got a motorcycle jacket with a Harley patch on it.
Good to have friends like that, isn’t it?
The red paint Mazda uses is by far my favorite red paint color ever.
Agree 100%
Well, after 5 months.. It's due for another paintjob!
I don't have many basecoats to mix, but i have some pearls and a gallon of clear. That should do the trick
Hey I have a question. Everytime I spray over a rattle can paint with regular automotive paint it cracks and the rattle can paint below it. What am I doing wrong because I see yours didn't do that ?? Any info would be greatly appreciated lol
Thank you so much for doing all these test with spray paint I’m learning a lot.
Thats the classic combination. Usually it's sprayed over gold because that gives it the warm glow. I think it would be a bit flat over a solid color like grey primer. Good experiment, thanks agin GT these ongoing combinations are a great resource.
We had a red tri-coat we used on the challenger at the factory, the red base coat had the metallic in it, the second coat was like a candy, then clear. Thanks for all the experimenting you do.
I love this series. Your videos are what inspired me to paint my car initially and I was really impressed with how well it worked out. Now I think I wanna do it again lol keep up the great work!!
My brother-in-law has a 2023 Miata MX5 in Soul Red Crystal Metallic. AMAZING color!
My friend had a 69 Chevelle it was a rust bucket he made it into a nice looking bondo buggy.
He did paint it candy apple Red with a lot of metal flake .
As much of a bondo buggy it was I Loved that color on that car.
His story was a bus pulled out in front of him,
scrap after 6 years of work and lots of bondo and paint.
I had a ‘76 Harley painted candy brandy wine. It was a beautiful color that got a lot of looks.
That section of black with the candy.... its almost like Buicks chocolate... very pretty
DANG!!!! You know how to lay down some paint out a rattle can!! You just earned yourself a new subscriber 😂
Big facts. I immediately subbed after the cans
You should paint and hang a bunch of car parts in your shop. You can see all your work and get new ideas.
Love to see ghost flames .
Love that candy paint, only ever seen once in person, a friend spent lots of money back in the 70s for his Camero to be candy apple red 👍👍
Yes, I remember the first time I saw that Mazda color on an suv! I looked it up when I got home!
I painted a 1994 Honda vf750 magna with a rich silver metallic coat a red oxidized candy on top it was beautiful
To me on video the red candy over the gold has a very very minor darker shade, but has a more deeper warmer tone to it. Over the silver it has more od a flatter washed out tone to it. Best way for me to describe it would be. If you painted the fender one uniform candy red, taped off the left side and left it out in the sun for several months and the right side faded slightly.
Years ago my dad painted a candy maroon over white on a Chevy van. This reminds me of that.
I appreciate all your content. Time to keep pushin. Next project. Im tuned in. I had a feeling you had something special comin up. Can't wait to see this new paint job.
Id like to see how it works with that chrome as a base, it’s supposed to be chrome but only thing chrome is the cap but once it dries it makes an awesome silver color, I really think it’d give you the depth that candy is supposed to show 👍🏼
The Brandywine looked outstanding on its own
Absolutely love the way that brandywine turned out!!!
I see you're into tattoos.
Fun fact:
The highest quality tattoo inks used to come from King Cobra blood.
In India, it's cooked down and filtered (distilled) for permanent inks.
The gold primer makes the red a rivcher color to my eyes and the silver makes it a bit duller to me. Ghost Red over black looks really good.
I practice these colors on my model cars I like silver under green and purple also 👌
Soul red crystal 😏 that’s where I got the idea to try the gold under- except they use a rose gold. Looks absolutely mental in hard sunlight
Red is a color that has very dense pigment concentration, which yields great color saturation.
Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise.
Larry Landis
love seeing the different experiments . Do you know of a good clear coat for the duplicolor paint shop ? Thanks
The sushi roll is nice! Going to look awesome on the car as a complete paint job.
The candy red over a copper or brown would be so rad.
the mazda 46v candy red uses a pink-orange metallic base and red candy, my personal favorite is using an orange-bronze metallic base with pink candy on top… same candy red look, just better.
The ghost red really popped on the black. I can’t stand the color black but that ghost look great on it
This is cool experimentation 😮
Thanks - was wondering how the eye candy pigment worked with automotive clear- nice job!
That candy was beautiful
I had a bike painted house of color galaxy grey base, candy brandwine with red gold and silver flake. Such a deep glistening red. Besutiful color
Please try an orange pearl over a grey!!! I’m super curious to see orange pearls in action
Enjoy your trying different combinations 👍
What about candy with a filer with the pearl together to see what it looks like.
When spraying your clear coat was your fan pattern wide open also what was your pressure set at
Interesting experiment, ... if a much greater candy / sparkle effect is required, use a very large grain of silver basecoat ... the candy really "pops" then.
I sprayed a green candy a very long time ago and it permanently stained the cup on my cheap harbor freight gun. I even cleaned it out right away with acetone.
Same! My cup stayed stained with the red candy, even tho I cleaned it with acetone and carb cleaner
I like the black with the candy best. From my iPad I couldn’t notice a difference between the silver or the gold.
What would happen if you use more reducer and less coats?
Glad to see some candy. It would be cool if you did some flake, like OG Roth metal flake
5:49 I saw a body shop video where they were painting in that color on a Mazda and they used a gold base coat and a red (I think it was ruby red) candy coat.
I would try the gold metal flake. In the clear. And use just a very little. So the car would look red. But in the sun have a gold shimmer. Or like a ghost gold effect.. the ghost red over black is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hello. I think your test fenders will be 4 inches thick when you are all done experimenting 😃 All joking aside, Stay safe, great video
Do you get a reaction from the rust oleum with reducer
So doing the math, if your using 1 gram per 5oz, you'd use 6.4 grams per quart? So a 25 gram jar would mix with a sprayable gallon?
Got 5 grams of Zen garden, 25 grams Monitor lizard, 5 grams sushi roll on the way. Taping off as I wait. Excited for something new! Curious about the black pigments I saw on there site, and how they do over colors and White.
Nicely done, keep up the good work
Can you do the black cherry pearl over a tan base do a sample on the fender
How has the victory red that you did on the silverado held up?
I wonder what a brandy wine candy over a black base with the senchi red in a clear would look like
I'd be adding some black candy to darken it up.
I am thinking of blue pearl over black rapture liner on my jeep. What results you think I'll get
It was near impossible in the video to tell if it came out different from side to side. That said, it wasn't hard to see where the transition was. I've always thought that if I were to paint my car after priming it with light gray primer, it would look different than if I used the brown primer. This confirms for me the difference would be there, even if it's subtle. Thanks!
I subscribe my friend! If you keep showing paint tips I’m hooked!
Love the videos bro learning slot on painting and spray painting
I would like to see the jungin silver over white! Cheers!
i liked this video that red looks amazing. if i could make a suggestion try recording on pro mode and turn down the exposure to see if maybe it catches the colors closer to what you see. nice video though!!! big props!!
Looking good thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing bro! It was interesting.
Candy with the flake and pearl together.
Is that just a practice fender..??
You are doing a great job with the colors and pearls. I’m thinking of a bronze copper can you help me. That’s the original color of the car it’s a 71 Chevelle. PS. Help Please. Thxs. Keep up the amazing work, and can’t wait for your car next.😊
Nice jefe! Knowledge...one love
Been thinking bout doing my s10 2 tone using white with a pearl and like orange with some orange Pearl kinda like the lambo orange
That would look sweet
I have just started watching you videos. What size is the spoon you use to add your pearl to the clear test fenders?
What can you do with Dupli color deep due , paint shop. Per mixed
Can you try something close to Jade green pearl over white base. Thanks
Another Awesome video!! I have learned a lot from watching your videos. It's amazing to me how you change one thing and you get a completely different results, especially when you add pearl. So if I ever paint a vehicle I had better write down each step so I get the same results every time.
You’re not gonna get a different effect with a basecoat, you should use candy concentrate then the difference is night and day
I agree. A true candy is mostly toner and very little pigment, and you will see a difference between the two colors of base. Love this channel, btw!
Great video like always. Could you do a video of emerald green with some kind eye candy sprayed on it?
I almost found out the expensive way the primer color makes a difference
Pink or candy ghost over silver if there’s such a thing!
Sushi Roll, heck yes!
The black is now basically Black Cherry.
Bro you Amigo arr a true Artist…+Scientist and Magician 😎😎👌👌👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Amazing work Firme’
the red pearl over black looks like a root beer brown on camera
I agree. The Ghost Red over the black is a root beer brown color. I would like see a bigger sample of the Ghost Red over black.
I’m not a fan of red autos but that looks great
Something tells me you might have seen a different with direct sunlight. The silver side looked slightly lighter and cleaner
Btw great colour combination 👍
Once the candy becomes a basecoat it’s no longer transparent like candy concentrates
This may seem strange to you but I can see the differance in the base coats!
I can tell the differance! The Gold side is much deeper and rich looking than the Silver!
The Gold is the better under coat!
Dosent the gold rub off on youre fingers?
You did great brother
lol the orange peal is real on this one.
Awesome bro great work
I got it. Gold Pearl over the Gold Metalic. Would it look like gold metal?
AWESOME video
awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks pink
You would have better results in this experiment if you would have thinned the candy and sprayed light coats.
Could you possibly do a neon yellow/high viz yellow like the school crossing sings with a yellow/lime colored pearl? It's My favorite color thinking about painting my motorcycle that color would love to see it with a pearl.
You would tell the difference out in the sun... Those lights are okay in a pinch, but they cannot come close to how the sun allows you to see.
Do primer with red pearl then clear.
mint green or sea foam green base
Whatever happened to painting your car with your leftover paint? It was a cliffhanger !!
Love the videos 👍🏽
