Ray is from my town and when we heard korn the first time our mouths hit the floor i understand his shock im glad he now is living his dream he deserves it!
As a day one KoRn fan for shit almost 2Oish years, of course we want to see David. We remember all those years that head left. But Ray is totally right, life will move on with or without you. He is a solid guy. He has my utmost respect. He proved himself. He is Korn now.
I DO NOT want to see David again. He's been a total douchebag to his former band and he deserved to be be replaced. You don't leave your band, stating "their new music is shit", then sue them for no reason, only to ask to get back in when they already have a new drummer to fill your job, and who happens to love the said band much more than you do. Let's face it : David *hates* this band. He's just an attention whore.
This was probably the best and honest "advice" video ever.. Taylor Swift would say " follow your dreams and dreams come true" but that is like listening to a lottery winner telling you to keep buying tickets.
Ray Luzier is an absolute drumming monster. The guy is incredible. He is the type of drummer that could sit in on any gig and make it work. So many drummers nail themselves to one genre from the time the start playing. While Ray is held in high regard from other musicians, he doesn't get enough respect from the 'non-musician' fans. The Ray-David debate should have died the minute Ray played his first show with Korn over a decade ago. They don't understand how good Ray truly is. There is no debate...Roar. It angers me. i first found Ray when he was playing with David Lee Roth and have been a fan, following him, ever since.
God bless you Abel. You're an amazing tech man. Wow. So loyal, dedicated, inventive and brilliant. Thank you man. Ray couldn't play as he does live on that animal without you.
I think we all feel this way in a sense, like Korn and Slipknot, a new guy takes over drums, and they have to prove themselves because we are so used to the members of the band. Ray has proved himself 10 fold, great guy, excellent drummer, a pleasure to listen to!
David was the reason i started playing drums, but Ray is a gift that kept the band alive and i think he does above and beyond for the music it awesome!
Knowing that human beings such as Ray who are so connected with mother earth are doing things they love and sharing them with us. So glad to see Korn still doing it's thing... first Korn show, 1998 Tsongas Arena - Lowell, MA
Honestly I went to yough school district and my vice principal was Mrs luzier. And she told me her son had joined in a band and I believe she told me he was with system of a down and then told me about Korn during a hard time when I was being bullied at the school and I was in music for drums cause I loved drums. And she told me to focus on that. Unfortunately nothing ever came from it but it feels awesome to be that close to know the mother of Ray luzier and would have been cool to have the luck he had like he said himself, You can't just do it and it happens. Keep on drumming Ray! I'm glad I atleast got to meet your mother (my vice principal) as a middle school student!
Ray seems like a really humble and honest guy. I had never heard of him until he joined Korn but honestly, his way of playing is definitely the best thing that could have ever happened to Korn musically. They're writing songs now that they never would've been able to write with David drumming for them.
i had to stop around the 4:30 mark and say how nice it was to hear Ray speak of "there is no best" and he is absolutely spot on. Ive learned and borrowed form all the walks of music and became such a better musician once i veiwed it like he said.."No Best"..i love that..removes all forms of competition. And thats what its all about.. Sharing. Recycling..im sorry im done now..lol..Ray?.. you are setting a wonderful example..keep up the great job!
I think most Korn lovers had a hard time warming up to Ray, but I think he's contributed much more to their growth at this point than David ever did. he is a phenomenal drummer and a perfect fit for Korn.
I really enjoy Ray...as a drummer and as an individual. It's fact that Ray helped to be "that guy", who showed the "Korn guys", another way of doing things... We all understand what Korn is about...and Ray just helped to mature those guys, into the great men and musician they have become. For whatever it's worth...without ever trying to do so...Ray helped them in more ways than just dropping the beat for them. The day "in and out" of being around "positive, no-frills personalities" becomes more of a factor...it's a subconscious thing. Also, something that is often rare in this line of work... Ray, is an honest, humble guy, and understands he is very lucky to be in the position he is in. I have to agree that if you want your shot at whatever it is you want out of life. Taking "no" for an answer just won't cut it. Feeling less of human when the world turns on you, laughs you up and down and tosses you aside... for no reason at all....accept to do it... is something you cannot cower from. In your life, many will be waiting to knock you from the horse, and all they want is to take your fire....remain the course...stay up on the horse. Be nice!!! ...nice get's you through the door and keep's you inside the door. Be honest...lies are the worst thing to ever be caught in...if you are honest there's always the next day. "Liars" are not called back. Practice your craft hard and daily. Do not fool yourself that you have learned it all...bc the fact is there is always someone better than you. And chances are he want's your job also!! Most of all...as much as I hate to admit it...look the part. Create "yourself" as honest as you "see yourself". Portray only yourself...and never be something that your not! Last but never least....know what you are getting into. Life as a musician is hard and not what you would think. It's lot's of hurry up and wait types of shit....and the real reward is simply playing at the end of the day. If you make some cash...it's a plus...but for the reality of things....we pay or dues in buses that fall apart every night. No heat, no air...food is last on the list so if you make enough to eat that day...be thankful. It's a huge party.....sure!! But the times of alone time you do get....realty is alive and well in your mind and it's not the lavish lifestyle you would think. You don't see family and the friends ...that "girlfriend" is not waiting on you to become "Mr. Rockstar"....she's back home fucking the next guy, "who is there, paying her attention"! ...so don't fool yourself and piss on your mates or those who do actually stand by you! Now it can be all you ever dreamed it to be.....but this is were luck and hard work really plays the part. It has to become your job. It must be that way...or the road will eat you alive. Just make sure when you are asking these things in the middle of the night.... you're sure what you're asking for. Life will make more sense and seem to go a lot easier for ya if you just evaluate all the facts NOW! Good Luck Drummers and lifers!!! Rock on! O-
Had the pleasure of meeting Ray at a show here and he was awesome. Wanted to know what I thought about the K3 record at the time and it was incredible to see that he truly cared what the fans had to say. Korn for life!
I am convinced while I love David's technical skillset, I am humbled by Ray's personality. I've been lucky enough to meet them after the shows up here in Chicago.. I am always impressed and blessed to meet such wonderful people. I remember during family values tour David wouldn't even shake my hand but there was hundreds there at the time too, he just seemed more cocky. Ray has always seemed more down to earth. He is a very humble guy it's refreshing to see that cuz so many in the music industry are so jaded anymore. It's great to hear there are some who are still down to earth. Keep on rocking hard Ray!!
Honor to see Ray in Va Beach 3 weeks ago...Korn after 25 years delivered an incredible performance. Ray threw out a lots of sticks, which is so cool. Really wanted one, I was up front in the pit, dream come true after being a Korn fan since their beginning.

Korn has always been one of the best. and now i can't believe a Korn existed without him I hope a future where a Korn exists without him does not exist. It might be unacceptable.

Really "touching" docu. Especially what he says at 10:10 was good advice for me since I'm also in it since my teens (00:19) ... True that Ray is amazing like you can only respect him but will always appreciate what David did but show must go on
I like him, but I still love David silveria
I agree with you. He's super talented too. I love the fact that he respects the opportunity that he has seized.
Jesse Walters everyone in korn is very humble
Ran into him at Disney land a few years back. Very humble nice guy. True artist
