I cannot get over how incredible this guy is at drumming. people like to joke about drummers not being true musicians, but if someone ever said that to me, I would introduce them to this guy.
I know! I gained a new found respect for drumming a few years ago when I discovered Gojira. I had been listening to music to learn mainly from the guitarist being a guitarist myself. Mario Duplantier inspired me to finally save up for a drum set and learn/be my own drummer instead having to find one. Now I've discovered a whole new world of music that I had been missing over a lack of understanding and not doing anything about it. I was shamefully unimpressed by rhythm centric music, because I didn't realize how musical/heart felt beating on a drum could be until I was inspired and tried it. Even with my limited ability/knowledge of rhythm I feel like a better well-rounded musician because of it. Guys like this keep popping up on my radar, and I'm constantly shitting myself by how creative and passionate they are. Matt Garstka from Animals As Leaders is another drummer I love. Haake from Meshuggah is a cold calculated ninja assassin. Now I have this guy to thank for all the ideas and inspiration his work as a drummer is giving me. The whole band is incredible and has such a unique sound and collection of musical ideas that are different and I love it!
@@TheSamuraiApocalypse I got to meet Derek Roddy at drumtek in 2010 it was great he signed a key ring drumstick with his signature on it, it was the best time of my life, cos I never thought it would ever happen in other words meeting 🤔, Derek Roddy, meeting 🇳🇴Baard🇳🇴 Kolstad 🇳🇴that's never going to 🤷♂️happen💭.
This drummer is one of my favorite.. he goes through some sticks though.. the band is totally different sound wise and it’s been awesome listening to all their albums
Great video, enjoyed that a lot! And I love how truly Baard speaks. I might have chosen other way on life but I can 100% sympathise with these words about the need to staying strict and dedicated. Keep on rocking mate!

Excellent channel ! congrats DRUMMERS DIARY, a true inspiration and different point of view for the drummers. Cheers from another drum channel, directly from South America / Chile
One year I had to sell my drums, I feel like a part of my entire being is still missing. :( Hopefully I can buy new ones, one day. Thanks for the inspiration, Bård! Signed, a fellow Norwegian.
So hard to focus on the actual video and what he's saying, I keep finding myself singing along to the songs in the background... Leprous is just too good!
Malina is insane when it comes to drumming 😄 it's even nastier than The Congregation, lots of polyrhythms and syncopation that The Congregation lacked.
Arnor Dan smashes the cymbals with his head, Baard: "Typical vocalist". I died.

@@RoddSantiago that's sad☹️ not sure why you would do such a thing, U must be a violent person, that's sad😢🤔...
Baard sounds like the nicest guy, and hardest worker out there.

Can confirm about the energy live. I saw Baard with "Rendez Vous Point" in the UK and it was some of the most energetic drumming I've ever seen !
My favourite drummer in the world
One of the most interesting drummers of our time.
Best drummer in recent history imo.
Baard and Keli, two incredible drummers sharing some convo backstage
Thank you for interviewing one of the best drummers out there!
Nat Heng you are welcome! Check also our other interviews 😉👍🏻

@@drummersdiary8976 Your Welcome ✌️.
Such a badass. Gotta see Leprous this year.
Going to see 'em in a week, super excited. Thought Malina was mild and uninteresting, then those sick grooves grew and grew on me...

BAAAARDD!!! 😍😍😍
you and Einar, please adopt me so you can drum and sing me to sleep every night..
His accent sounds like he has 'welsh' twang.
Dude's a fuckin machine, kinda sad on the "new" album drumming wasn't as crazy as on "The Congregation".
