That's what I fish 80% of the time. My go to nothing beats watching floats drop and the whip of your line locking up on a behemoth SST Let your eggs dry up before adding your cures. You will get a better looking egg and a more durable egg.
I use spawn bags 90% of the time. I use scarves instead of the rolled or precut stuff. I find that they stay on the hook better and they don't break as easily. I also don't usually cure my eggs. I catch a lot of steelhead on raw or bags in mineral oil. With a little of the steelhead blend in the oil.
I’ve had more first cast hook ups on spawn sacs than anything I’ve ever fished. I didn’t get much for eggs this year. But there is nothing like getting to your spot, putting on a spawn sac casting and thinking you snagged up right away and then.... that tug back. 🎣. Great information 👍
I’ve been waiting for this video! I tie my own spawn sacks with pautzke eggs, they work really good for spawning trout if any kind, I once had a brook trout inhale one! If I ever have my own skein of eggs I’ll definitely do it with them!
Jordy and Cam - get back on the water and smash some more big fish for us! I got my Dad addicted to these vids and he asks me every day when there's a new video to "make an email" and send to him.
great video! how long do the sacks need to be in the borax before they are fully cured? also- is just washing borax off with water enough to remove the scent of the borax?
That's a good idea, def would wanna use the tuna in oil for more attractant power, hope you get a response. And you could add food coloring to the tuna to get whatever color you want.
Good day fellas just wached Jordan tieing up spawn sacs can't wait to do it but I was wondering after u get them n the borax how do u store them and how long will they keep? Thank u and have a great day!!🍻
Yes, I find that if you poke through the sack 2 times with hook then rap the egg loop over it, it will stay on way longer then just sliding it over the hook. Just my experience.
Hey Jordan, I’m not nocking you by any means, but I noticed how you wrapped the tread and used half hitches, it works but is unnecessary. If you do three wraps and tug, three wraps and tug and three wraps and snap off the excess it holds perfectly and is like 10x faster🤠
Thanks for the excellent videos you produce; they are both informative and entertaining. That said, some of the tutorials do not end with actual fish being caught, which is a little anti-climactic. Even if you have to splice in footage from another day, it would be nice to see the entire process through to completion. I am heading to AK in a few weeks for my first time salmon fishing. This spawn sac looks way easier than tying a skein of eggs to a hook with an egg loop. You can buy the spawn sacs already made for about $0.75 each, and it seems like it would be very difficult for a fish to steal a spawn sac. In several videos, I have seen you using a loose skein tied with an egg loop. Why would you ever do that rather than using this seemingly simple alternative? I understand that you might want to use your own cure, but I think you can doctor any of the sacs that you can buy "off the shelf." Is this amateur missing something?
Do steelhead like Pautzkes eggs tied in sacs? If they are infact just trout that found their way to the ocean, will they work the same as homemade single eggs?
Hey I use spawn sacks all the time here in New York... we use mostly a natural cure of salt and brown sugar. My question for you is using that curing process you just showed us how long will those stay good in the freezer?
As long as you can keep the freezer burn off they can last for years. The borax will help with that. 1 step further though if you plan on freezing them for next season would be to coat them in borax then freeze them then vacuum pack them. You must freeze them first or the vacuum packet will crush the berries. When thawing pop the seal and thaw. If you leave sealed and thaw you will ruin the eggs. These literally can last years in the freezer. Peace!
I just did the brown sugar n salt on chum eggs. They look WAAAAAAY better than the ones I did with a touch of cure. Cured are still good, but salted look more natural. Had to wait for them to plump up and blaaam! Beauty little nuggets!
You want to choose the hook for what fish your targeting. Smaller trout= smaller hook. Bigger salmon/steelhead= bigger hook. But what I like to do is don’t choose a hook that sticks out of the sack to much. Choose a hook that will be hidden among the eggs, I find the trout can see the hook if it’s to big
Yes, I find that if you poke through the sack 2 times with hook then rap the egg loop over it, it will stay on way longer then just sliding it over the hook. Just my experience.
I see a lot of people where I'm at are starting to use centerpins. Would love to get into it. Do you guys happen to have a tutorial on how to centerpin float fish?
Thats a painfully slow way to tie spawn. Setting out 20-30 squares at a time, putting the eggs on the squares, and then tie them up from there is the way to go.
Who else likes to fish spawn sacs?! 🙋♀️🙋♂️

Would you mind sending a purchase link through ebay or other global sellers the equipment and supplies you use
When you put them in the fridge for cure are they in a paper towel and ziploc or are they in the pan open like you have in the video

Caught my first steelhead on a spawn sack. Right at the bank as I was finishing my cast. Jordan taught me that. Always finish your cast!
Thank you! Trying today so I can get my first salmon. It’s the only fish in my area I haven’t caught 😅😅😅
Just got my first yesterday 16 pound chinook such a crazy fight
@5:15 shot glass = BRILLIANT
That's the top tip I needed... Thank you @Addicted Fishing!
JB can do anything. He's a fishing Guru.
Yep I haven’t done much steelhead fishing with spawn sacks but planning on using them a lot this steelhead season
The shot glass idea is absolutely genius.
Great demo Jordan. Thanks for sharing.🎣🎣🎣🎣
I’ve been waiting for this video! I tie my own spawn sacks with pautzke eggs, they work really good for spawning trout if any kind, I once had a brook trout inhale one! If I ever have my own skein of eggs I’ll definitely do it with them!
Thanks for the tip! Been struggling trying to catch my own eggs.
@@the_escalade your welcome! pautzke eggs work great for anything that eats salmon/trout eggs
Jordy and Cam - get back on the water and smash some more big fish for us! I got my Dad addicted to these vids and he asks me every day when there's a new video to "make an email" and send to him.
That tip of adding borax to the prepared sacks was a nice bonus! Great video Jordan!
great video can you show you attach the spawn sac to the hook
Are y’all gonna do ice fishing ?
Yes we want to this year!
@@AddictedFishing heck yeah !
The people want ice fishing vids!
That shot glass idea is fantastic will steal that for sure.
Goodluck this season everyone! I'll be sticking to ice fishing for the most part this season
Yeeeeaaaaah baby!!! I used the spawn sacs with a different bait this fall. So many uses for that. Keep up the good work gents!!!
Thanks for finally doing this vid, I've requested it, thanks so much, keep it up
And works really good for white sturgeon !!
I love fishing with big sacs, helps me catch more fish
great video. Ive had problems tying egg sac's so I stopped. Glad you made this video. I now can start retying eggs sac's.
Once again, just another awesome video from you Jordan!!
What’s the best size hooks to use when using these spawn sacs? Thank you for your videos!
Use it for catfish bait
Thank you , nice tutorial !
Jordan has some nice sacks. Thanks for tutorial. Really appreciate it!!!!!
Feel confident to be able to make my Trout and Steelhead bait. Now to fish better next year to get some eggs....
great video! how long do the sacks need to be in the borax before they are fully cured? also- is just washing borax off with water enough to remove the scent of the borax?
No need to take out the skein just chunk and bag plus skip the borax it will dry out your eggs you want a wet sac to give off a good scent trail
Heading out tomorrow hoping to hook up to my first one of the season 🎣
Going to try this tomorrow for summer steel baby
First time doing this I naturally went looking for and ended up using a shot glass! Want a half shot glass though. 😁
Been fishing my whole life, but new to trout fishing, you have really help educate me on how to catch them! Thanks!
Another top shelf, informative video. Keep 'em coming!
What do you think about making spawn sacks with tuna and also freezing them? Also curious if you can persevere tuna with borax?
That's a good idea, def would wanna use the tuna in oil for more attractant power, hope you get a response. And you could add food coloring to the tuna to get whatever color you want.
Cool stuff you guys are the G.O.A.T!🤟

Im learning, good video!!
Thanks brother. Very informative!
How long can you save them? Are they good for catching Salmon as well?
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Great video!! Do we still use egg loop when using these or just slide right on hook?
I had the same question?
Yes, I find that if you poke through the sack 2 times with hook then rap the egg loop over it, it will stay on way longer then just sliding it over the hook. Just my experience.
Awewome!!Thank you greatly for sharing
Would kokanee eggs work for steelhead and could you cure kokanee eggs the same way
Excellent video!! Just liked and subscribed. Best spawn sac video I’ve seen.
Do you think they would work for fall chinook floating under a bobber?
Great video!! I love the shot glass idea!🥃 Gonna do that for now on!! #tightlines🐟 brotha

Should I use hot fuze on already cured eggs to add more scent?
Awesome stuff !
When using spawn sacs do u use a egg hook like you would if u were floating a chunk of roe?
Thank you for the info
Do you take eggs of the skeen before the cure??

Use a badminton racket over a bowl rub eggs they fall about 5% will pop real fast and easy
Before the cure??

Say for like a nickel size spawn sack, what size hook would you use? And would you use a egg loop or just thread it on your hook?
Good question.

Hi addicted fam! I'm just wondering how do you guys feel about the new ITX?
Can you use regular Borax that comes in a box?
How long will they keep that way?
I would like learn more about spawn suck
Sturgeon like them also
Pretty sure the point of using magic thread is a knot isn't needed. I never tie a knot with that thread and they stay intact.
Time to get out and get me some eggs.
Is borax used on fish eggs the same as 29 mule team borax used for laundry
these seem like 23mm beads but filled with good smelling stuff
Doesn't the borax kill the sent. It's a soap used a lot in taxidermy.
Does the borax you can buy in the laundry soap section of the grocery store work like the stuff you're using in the video?
I hope. That’s what I used.
@@harisa4421
I was wondering if it's the same stuff?
One of the other posts in this comment thread said it’s the same stuff. Only cheaper in the laundry aisle. (And a bigger box)
Nice raft Jordan!
A plastic spoon seems to work better for me. I get less breakage.
I see a lot of people where I'm at are starting to use centerpins. Would love to get into it. Do you guys happen to have a tutorial on how to centerpin float fish?
Is there a video about how to cure grocery store shrimp?
if we don`t have eggs to sue can we use Jared eggs the same way?? not all of us get eggs to tie up sacks
Yes you can paizano
I only fish sacs becuase the roe almost never stays on the hook
👍👍👍👍
You should do a video on using wd40 for fishing
Jordan you're killing me using the foil pan for curing eggs.
Great looking sacs though

So 30 shot glasses?
It's just a demo
terrible vieo oes not complete the knot
