  • These underwater videos have changed our way of pike fishing forever.
    In this video, we will test different ways to catch pike with dead bait. We will start with dead bait on the bottom, compare bottom bait with floating bait, and use small pieces of floating bait. The results speak for themselves. We learned a lot and would love to share our insights with you.
    Do you always wonder what is going on underwater while you are fishing? We will show what is actually happening under the surface and promise you that it is a lot more than you can imagine.

    Absolutely cracking footage, gents - well done! I've seen a lot of fish behaviour underwater - and it's not uncommon for female pike to pair up and stay together for prolonged periods (months/years) on 'their' territory - which is why it's always worth another cast when you're resting a big fish. Her sister is often close by. Another really great video - so interesting to see them so cautious and interested in the camera (they can pick up the electrical pulses which is why they come for a look) - really appreciate you guys for making and sharing this stuff! Great content guaranteed every time - thanks!

      If it was spring, they were a mating pair. Smaller one is the male. Pike will eat anything, alive or dead. This video was not necessary.

    • @SINEK_official

      @@deadpanfish Come on. This surely is necessary footage. If pike in spring would eat anything, like you say, they would not hesitate to eat a whole deadbait. In this vid you can see what a difference it can make to use different sizes of deadbait and how to get more interest in the bait you are using. Best deadbait pike footage I've seen untill now 👌

    Mooie beelden. Alleen een vast lood systeem werkt niet met doodazen. Altijd een vrij loop systeem gebruiken zonder weerstand. Een vis of stuk vis met een pop up gewoon een paar loodjes eronder voelen ze niks van.

      On still waters I've started using inserted balsa sticks to critically balance it and NO weight at all !! ...

    Awesome footage! Where I live pike are considered invasive predators, some areas actually had bounties on them, 5-10$ a head. There is no limit on them and actually illegal to release them alive back into the water. For quite a few years we would catch many pike on dead bait under a large weighted bobber. We would suspend the fish 1/3 off the bottom in a horizontal presentation. Worked very well, we would let them swim around for a few minutes allowing to get a good hookset. Very tasty fish smoked, grilled and pickled!

      considering pike invasive is crazy

    • @gowancolley7619
      @gowancolley7619 10 днів тому

      Living in Canada it's crazy to think that pike are invasive in certain places around the world. They thrive in very harsh conditions and generally coexist with so many other species without causing problems that would lead to a bounty on them! Curious as to where you live that they are invasive and such a problem. We have a massive issue with Persian carp in Canada, killing many of our lakes and all the vegatation

    • @northwestreeladventures8007
      @northwestreeladventures8007 10 днів тому

      @@gowancolley7619 I live in Washington state. Pike and Walleye have both become apex predators in quite a few areas. Specifically the Columbia River system and all tributaries. They were not considered a problem because those in charge did not think they would be able to spawn in the fluctuating river levels and ignored sightings and catch reports of them. They were wrong. They found the pike would hold their eggs until conditions were viable for hatching, from what I understand anyway. Coeur d'Alene ID also had quite the bounty program a while back and took drastic measures to lower their numbers, manually removing them with shock boats and nets. From what I understand both species numbers exploded in these environments because they were loaded with native food fish, decimating the populations in some areas. The snake river in lower Wa/Or/ID also has seen Walley numbers rise, not sure about Pike down there though.

    Great footage, but for me your trace is way too short, not only for the safety of the pike but for being able to control the presentation. You can see the pop up used was too strong, it's needs neutral presentation to allow the baits tail to remain low yet not pop up the bait to strongly, it needs movement, and making your traces longer at around 18" will help you balance the rig, give more free movement to the bait when it's blown up and the longer trace will help prevent break offs should the pike spin the rig around it's snout and mouth the braid/line.
    Hope that helps ❤

    try a sliding weight because it will still sink a bobber when a pike is taking it and it lets the pike move the fish around easier while it tries to readjust the fish to it can eat it right

    It is winter so the mating season is close depending on where you live this can happen earlier or later in the Spring. The smaller ones are males who wait for the moment when the bigger females lay thier eggs. This will happen in a little tail whip where the female scatters the eggs in some underwater plants. Also it is forbidden at least in Germany to fish for pike in the Winter, because they are breeding.

      Wine bottle cork, dependable on the size of the bait. Big bait-big cork or more than one cork, smaller bait you cut the cork to fit. You test it in the water to see if it floats before casting it. I don't fish for pike nor did I used this method ever but it is a logical and simple solution. Try to be innovative don't just rely in what others do, it feels 10 times better when you solve the problem yourself.
