- carrigan crossing the cox's river lidsdale state forest, goggles and flippers optional..
Edit 2022: wow it’s been over ten years since we filmed this. This cruiser has now been moved on and I see the new owner has commented below. I also sold my cruiser (the one that chickened out). This crossing is usually around 40cm deep, we did walk out to almost half way and it was around 80cm deep so we decided to cross. The centre of the river had washed away and the cruiser had an empty sub tank and less then half a tank of diesel as well as an under slung spare tyre and hence so much buoyancy. If you look at my other vids you’ll see that I was driving my own cruiser through deeper sections of the same river to access the area the same day. I had fulltanks of diesel and a rear mounted spare tyre. We would Definitely NOT attempt the crossing again under the same circumstances. This is the coxs river near Lithgow, an amazing spot. - Авто та транспорт
No matter how many times I watch this ..Its AMAZING ...Great 4WD and GREAT driving ...Has any of the flash 4WD magazines asked for a story yet !!

Great ad for Landcruiser.
Loved it ! Needed a good laugh. Thank you.
ok so i thought i had better say a little in response to a few of the more negative comments. this section of river is usually about 6 metres across and about 40cm deep, we knew it was flooded and even drove out to test the depth in another car first, what happened next was that paul started to float, if he didnt float it would of just been another deep crossing, we only expected it to be maybe 1.2M or 1.4M deep, it actually was only about 1.5M deep, paul has over 20 years experience.
in addition to below:, paul kept his cool in a situation he had to deal with and thankfully made it out safely, would he do it again.... i think not.. the cruiser that started to go in was myself and i was about to drive out and snatch him, however he started to make his own way out. if you look at my other videos from that weekend you can see that i was driving my own cruiser through 1.3M depth crossing and had no issues, its just the luck of the draw. that crossing is now forever "carrigans"
Solo man stuff! Well done.destined to become the topic of great campfire yarn for many years.
After that awesome effort, you'd bloody drive any crossing.
Awesome mate. Well you know you're snorkel's water tight.
Cheers m8
That was AWSOME! Love it! Never give up :)
lol amazing video best part at the end looking at the other car and saying your turn :D
That's impressive stuff!
I've watched that about ten times now.... and every time I just shake my head in disbelief, FUKKEN WELL DONE!!!
"your turn" oh lawd

best landcruiser ad ever, a land rover would stall and never start again
Unbelievable😁👏👏
LMFAO, our guys were up there a couple of weeks ago and said they wouldn't even attempt that as they could see it was deep.. Good effort getting out
Amazing car
PARABÉNS; BEAUTIFUL
Good work
Cool ! I'm proud to be a 91 land cruiser owner. :( I need a snorkel

Thats why its the best off road vehicle in the world
Bad move jumping in that deep crossing, but what a great memory it'll make!!
Good driving
good work there buddy!
We try and educate people about driving through water and the dangers involved and here it is on youtube encouraging others. Madness. (from and SES Member)
ONLY LANDCRUISER CAN DO THIS! Epic CAR! Wish I have one.
As long as that air intake is above the water...she,ll be right....I have to admit this is a sight to behold...it sort of crawled along by the front axle...amazing, Id send it to the Toyota guys just for posterity.
legen.. wait for it...... dary
well done. looks a lot deeper than normal, I wonder if the rest of the group had a go.
@308SteveD hey steve it wasnt actually me that was driving the crossing, im in the gold cruiser that enters the water mid crossing.. we all drove around the long way as it was too unsafe to follow Mr Carrigan across this part of the river. some of my other vids from that weekend show other crossings that were not quite as deep..
luke
Good stuff, I thought it was a goner.lol
Did the other 4x4 have a go?
best driving skill of driver.i bet the second car dare not to try....😊😊
Am I correct in assuming this is a diesel motor on the LC?
its changed heaps, its usually about 40cm deep and about 10 metres accross
!!! " WWWOOOWWW " !!!
wow ang galing naman
Nice
im thinking of doing an interview with paul with his commentary on the crossing, is anyone keen to see/hear it his point of view?
Updated the description so worth a read

Wow
under slung rear tyres make great floaties
lmao the other truck goes in, then backs up real quick
Dude's crazy damn!!!?
was very well driven and i reckon your 80 would do it easy
ماشاءالله تبارك الله
i wouldn't trust any other 4x4 maker over Toyota . The 60 80 series are tough as guts.
Darren Knight 70 series is to my boss has a 79 series dual cab Ute never been bogged
And it’s spent over 100,000 kms in the bush
Never bogged because hes a pussy
Give that man a beer,Toyota mate tuff as

Oh what a feeling!!!
you should call it "toyota land cruiser snorkelling" hahahaha

Uiyffg
Whoa! That's a gr8 submarine stuff :D
insane
yes and the empty fuel tank didnt help either
craigslist be like: never off roaded hard, low miles, babied since bought new. $20,000 FIRM, NO LOWBALLERS
@griffopaul i have never encouraged anybody to cross a swollen dangerous water body, so i take offence to your comments.... we did test the depth of the water and had the rear end of the landcruiser not started to float he would of driven accross.... so insert disclaimer here: kids dont do this at home!!!!
fuckin sweet
What no fish dropped out when he opened the door? That's cool ;)
Это было класно не ожиданно!
> NEVER give up! LoL
Awsome..toyota
nice galing tlg
well it's clean now
I dont get how that works if the engine is fully submerged, How can it take in oxygen?
Amazing! I wonder if my 80 would do that.. lets go fishing
Where's Stabbot when you need'em
What can ya say. TOYOTA
São Melhores carros
Definitely a Toy-boat-a
how did IT do that? incredible
Good door seals. a pocket of air is trapped in the rear keeping the back end up.
He has the central diff locked so 50 percent of the power is going to the front wheels which are just touching the river bed.
Because the LandCruiser is boyant, the front wheels only need the tiniest friction on the river bed to propel it forward.
He had a well prepared vehicle, notice the snorkel for the air intake, without it he would have damaged the engine.
Good driving, he didn't panic, a very gently throttle.
@@harveysmith100 It was the tires that kept the rear end up and the front end was down due to the weight of the engine, not the door seals as he emptied the water from his cab as he exited the crossing. But a solid effort by the driver nonetheless, I definitely don't think I would've had the guts to do it either. The good thing about these old '80s is the lack of electronics in the 1hz powerplant to keep it going, he could've stayed in the water for much much longer provided his snorkel was sealed properly.
@@Adi-kr5nd I didn't mean the door seals were totally water tight, just good seals. Some water got in but it was slow enough to allow the rear end to trap a pocket of air to keep the rear end up. Notice the rear doors are above the water line.
The tires wouldn't produce that much buoyancy. I wouldn't even think they would produce enough to hold up the rear axle.
If tires were enough to hold up the rear end, the same would happen to a Defender, they are lighter with a lighter chassis.
Would you try that in a Defender?
@ilynchy Oo thats what that thing was.. I thought it was a fail exaust pipe..
Noted
Nice one Scotchy,, bet the girls didn't clean out the cruiser when u got home!

Hey Luke.
I bought this Landcruiser off Paul Carrigan for 13,000 . I sent my kiwi buddy to go look for one for me.
I just asked Paul some questions and he straight up blocked me on Facebook and refused to answer them. Can you help me please ?
Only just seen this comment. Paul probably blocked you due to the amount of harassment he copped over this. I can try an answer your comments. I don’t think I will get notifications from here though.
@@eldo4x4 I sold it last year Paul is a great guy . Went to the USA and I had it for a bit and now it lives in Mexico
Sponsered by Safari snorkel.
Jeez I would need that whole river to clean my pants after shitting myself.
Proper drive.
What a fucking champ :)))
This is totally insanity.
