I have listened to many musical groups but none of these groups can move me like the music of Supertramp. No group like Supertramp can vary in songs. From classical to pop to rock to Jazz. But above all a harmonic music full of various instruments. A unique group. Where many instruments become one. For me the greatest group
We didn't realize back then (end60s- early80s) that we were growing up in a "golden age" of music and creativity. An Era that won't ever be seen again...
🥰 This came out my senior year in high school! I fell in love with them BECAUSE they are Unique!😊❤ Tons of hits! Keep going. PLEASE REACT to "Bloody Well Right", 1974! 😮
I still maintain that Bob Siebenberg is one of the most underrated 'rock' drummers of the 70's. Super creative parts, tasteful, not overly complicated and plays for the song, but if you listen to they aren't easy parts either. Just a great player.
And, not only are they a group of incredible musicians writing and arranging incredible music, the unique pairing of Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson's (lead guitar here, but also plays keys on other songs) voices made them truly a genre of their own. Yes, they trade back and forth on lead, and sing and blend their voices together as if they were born to do so.
A truly epic band of the time , they were fantastic live and I feel so privileged to have seen them in concert. For a real treat find Fools Overture live from them, it’s totally insane.
What a great lyric: Now some they do and some they don't And some you just can't tell And some they will and some they won't With some it's just as well It was a real joy to see you enjoy this one. Throwback to my freshman year of college.
There are three singers. Rick on the electric piano, Roger on guitar and John (Sax, whistles, and organ/keyboards). Roger also plays the piano & keyboards. They are all REAL musicians. I saw them in Seattle in 1979 it was the best damn concert I've ever been to. They were very different from all the other bands back then. Please check out "Child of Vision" Live in Paris 1979.
This is the audio from the album matched to the video from the TV show. I don't know why you'd do that, they sound awesome live. The lead singers are Rick Davies (here in white on keys) and Roger Hodgson (the guitarist). Each sings lead on the songs he writes, although they often do call-and-response things (it's one of their trademarks) which of course requires both.
Supertramp 1977 Queen Mary College London Live. Great concert. Track Another Mans Woman (38 mins) incredible Piano (Rick Davies) and Guitar ( Roger Hodgson) watch Hodgson's use of a Wah pedal? Outdoor furniture Album Cover Crisis What Crisis.
One of the pillars of progressive rock. Probably one of my top 3 bands, certainly top 5. Started listening at age 14 or so some forty years ago and their records are still on rotation.
For reasons I don't quite understand, there was an explosion of incredibly talented bands from the UK in the 60s and 70s. Being a talented musician is one thing, but writing songs everyone wants to hear puts you in an entirely different league.
Fun bit of trivia, Scott Gorham, guitarist of Thin Lizzy, went to the UK because his sister was married to their drummer. I believe he, Scott, auditioned for Supertramp.
Hello Corey, I thought I'd drop off some suggestions in case your interested. "George Thorogood - One Burbon, One Scotch, One Beer 7/5/1984 - Capitol Theatre (Official)' (by the channel: GeorgeThorogood on MV) --This song by George T. was originally written and recorded by Rudy Tombs in 1953, however, Thorogood released his version on his debut album called "George Thorogood & The Destroyers" released in 1977. George Thorogood is an American singer/songwriter and guitarist from Wilmington, Delaware. His high energy blues rock style of playing was very popular in the 80's along with his band "The Delaware Destroyers" often simply called "The Destroyers" their genre of music is mostly blues rock. Thorogood is a masterful blues guitarist. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~
He sings his stuff, Rick sings his. Goodbye stranger is sung by Rick. Also other great songs like "Crime of the century" or "Rudy" or "Bloody well right". They got almost the same amount of songs they were leading.

Supertramp were ALWAYS unique. And that's why we adored them.
Great analysis of this song and the groups talent and collaboration. Nicely done, sir... You know music
was lucky enough to have seen them in the 70s, in a very small venue. they were fantastic.
We didn't realize back then (end60s- early80s) that we were growing up in a "golden age" of music and creativity.
An Era that won't ever be seen again...

Oh the hair!! Those of us that lived in the 70's know that many had some of the best hair!!
I just realized that in the guitar solo part there is a direct quote of the song Dreamer.
Nothing else than our meeting with the Sublime!..
What a great Supertramp reaction. I’m 70, so grew up with this shit. Thank you.
They were absolute geniuses at layering.. A rabbit hole worth going down.

A fantastic drummer. A wonderful style to him.

That’s awesome! What an amazing group 🤯
@@setonhillstudios I really like Roger's voice. It's unique, and sounds like Geddy Lee.

Album version. Roger Hodgson (guitar) and Rick Davies (guy playing keys) share lead vocals.
One of the best "one night stand "songs ever. Life on the road trappings.
🤣 didn’t even think about that
omgg I can help I’m going to do it I’m going to cry it’s sooo amazingly beautiful music the talent is out of this world

🎶 I was at that concert in ‘79, too! My favorite concert…with Pink Floyd (in Vancouver 🇨🇦) a very close second‼️
They have a ton of great songs!!
Seems like it, they’re crazy talented!
I graduated hs in ‘81. So glad to see younger generations getting into our music ❤

Their live album Paris is a diamond tier from beginning to end. Well worth a listen.
I’ll have to check it out!
Love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guys definitely had it all!
It was unique enough to DOMINATE the music charts in 1979. "Breakfast In America" sold like hotcakes.
I really like that album but prefer Crime of the Century
If you like this tune, check out the tune Child Of Vision from the same album. Incredible piano work on it.
Sweet, thanks for the suggestion!
BBC 1974 Dreamer/Rudy. Old Grey Whistle Test Show. Live!!! Wrth Wtchng.
Loved this song growing up.
It’s so good!

Rabbit hole city bro🔥🤘✌🎶
Seems like it!
@@setonhillstudios start with Crime of Century's "School" and go from there! You will not be disappointed! 🔥🤘🎶
This is straight up the studio version, not live. Which is too bad, cause they were really good live. Still like the song, didn't like lip syncing.
The lead sing is Roger Hodgson
