Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
What you need is a rod that will set the hook with the right force for the size of fish you are fishing for. So the minimum action would be medium on up. You could use a medium heavy action rod and drop the rod angle down for gills and perch or raise the rod angle up for trout and walleye. That way you can use one rod and then raise and lower your rod angle to set the hook lighter for small fish and harder on bigger fish.
Just ordered mine. Can you use any action rod on this or is there a minimum action you would use in it? I have rods from Ultra light up to Medium Heavy
Which 1 is better the jaw jacker or the automatic fisherman? That is the real question it just seems to me that the jaw jacker has too many moving parts that could soon fail. I think I'm still going to buy one and compare it to my automatic fisherman. Plus mine has an alarm... Either way I'm a fishing junkie I just can't get enough! (Hard core fisherman 4 life).....
They are $39.99 in stores. You can find them at Sportsmans Warehouse, Caabelas, and Bass Pro shops along with a handfull of other bait and tackle shops. You can also find them at jawjacker.com.
why the hell would anyone buy this? 40 bucks for this??? The way it bends your rod can't be good for the rod in the long run either... I use regular tip up flags, but I can't seem to find anyone using them in the states, they're a lot cheaper and just as effective and if you but bells on them you can hear them from afar too
The JawJacker sets the hook before a fish can spit the bait and get away like they do a lot with tip ups. I have never heard of tip ups being that effective with artificial baits like jigs tipped with meal worms and maggots but the JawJacker can be deadly. I agree tip ups can be just as effective when using live minnows or big live baits where a fish is going to take the bait and hold on to it but a lot of these fish swallow the bait deep before you can get there and die. Then they can't be release and using live minnows is illegal in lots of states and areas in the West. You do have to have a good rod but I have used rods over and over for 4 or 5 years now and they have done fine. I like a lower modulus (im 6 and 7) solid graphite rod and solid glass works great too. So I have found with thousands of other people that JawJackers dramatically increase catch rates and are therefore worth the money.
yeah when using articifical lures they might be handy, thats true. It's probably not that bad, I just didn't see the point of it first but now I get it!
+Jason Soja You can go to the JawJacker on-line website and order rods that work well with the JawJacker. There is a 29" M panfish/kokanee, 31"MH trout/walley, and a 35" XXH Pike/Lake trout JawJacker rods. They have an medium modulus IM7 graphite blank which has worked well. Higher modulus graphite blanks are prone to breaking.
It might be plastic but it does hold up well in the cold. It is also light and compact and snow and ice build up come off of it a whole lot easier than wood or metal.
jawjackerfishing Bunk.........these things are cheap plastic, that cannot withstand any degree of abuse or extreme cold, and should be sold for less than half of the outrageous price they are typically sold for.........I experimentally acquired a couple of these and they are, in my opinion, Over-Hyped..........
jawjackerfishing As a matter of fact we do "abuse" our gear, and have learned quite well based on our own handling what gear is stout, and what gear sucks......thanks for allowing that seg-way to further illustrate the point that these things are shotty and cannot withstand the true riggers of extreme cold ice fishing, and yup of "abuse" in handling either!
jawjackerfishing And another question I have is whether these tension and kinetic energy loaded mechanisms are legal everywhere? There are similar units that have been outlawed in many many regions, and I am curious about that as well? Since you are a business man promoting your product, I am wondering if you would care to elaborate on this?
Absolutely terrible demonstration can’t see what you’re doing and it’s like you’re speaking Russian. Because I don’t understand any of the lingo. Wtf is a trigger slide?
I still don’t understand how you tied that loop at the end of the rod. Any help would be great !
Just bought one of these this week. i can hardly wait for the hard water to get here so i can try it out.

Does the red loop that was tied to the rod in the video come with the Jaw Jacker. Is this a mandatory component?

PLASTIC..... Breakable and fragile in extreme conditions.......Made my own.........

*Cough* lame. Kind of takes the fun out of fishing.

Demonstration was excellent and thoroughly explained. Sounds like you're just dumb as hell.
