This was super helpful - really solid tips man. Thank you for sharing. I know a lot of this is learned solely through trial and error, so I appreciate you being willing to help us out.
The ear plugs idea is genius! The line is coming out of the trigger regularly when I use the jigging base. Why not just use the supplied spring up front instead of hanging weights on the back though? Also, leaving the supplied foam block on the back of the jigging base makes transport quieter.
@@thehorseshoekid I understand that that's why I asked the question because I'm going to try to use it for rainbow trout and when they feel that they are caught they are a very strong fish and they want to run with it I'm afraid of what's going to happen if it is set solid or even with a very heavy drag
You won't need a super heavy drag off the Hookset but even if you did it'll do you just fine for rainbows. Big lake trout and real big pike would be my concern
Ear plugs, simple solution. Thought it looked interesting to have a second rod jigging instead of just a set line and ended up letting it sit all season. You just may have fixed that.

I'm not sure why I have issues with my spring, it unfortunately doesn't help. Originally it did but it may be to soft now?
My goodness I wish I'd have seen this video sooner! Thank you for the tips. This is amazing.
Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Great tip about using the ear plug! I'll try that out this weekend. New sub!
Thanks Tom I appreciate it buddy and it works awesome!
Great info. Especially the ear plug. Good cover on getting the hook in the finger. Nothing to see here
Haha not bad eh! Ear plug truck definitely is helpful though!
One tip you forgot is how you set the real so that the fish can take the bait and run or is this unit only good for small fish
It works for big fish as well but if the reel were to free spool it would not set the trigger.

2021 gas augers were definitely still cranking out being annoying I hear you there!

Buddy you just about got that tube jig in the finger😂 great tip tho. 👌
Haha wouldn't be the first time I hooked myself doing something dumb haha
Wish we could see your demonstration closer up. No details.
Sorry this didn't work for you. Pretty basic setup, tried to explain my best uses to allow for further thought from each user.
@thehorseshoekid Didn't work for anyone without details. It advice, not a negative.
@@ChrisLaprise-p8n seems to have quite a few positive comments but for sure!
Great tips!
Thanks guys!
Dude you need to put a barber on your jaw jackers so that the fish can run with the line before it sets the trigger off just like a dead stick
I definitely do that sometimes with short striking trout but I've never found it necessary for something like walleyes. Great point though!
Finicky fooler is cooler and easier in my opinion
Depending on the situation the finicky fooler or ht ice rigger are alot of fun.
guys, good info guys guys guys guys guys guys guys guys
