    I refuse to do mods and was frustrated with all the different power poles, etc. When I found this I thought, this is great. But for my ADHD issues, I could not figure it out. It wasn't until the 4th or 5th time watching that it suddenly clicked with me with what I was doing wrong. Now, I have power switches and poles only where I want them and nothing but 'invisible' power lines. Thanks for taking the time to really detail how to do it.

      I couldn't understand for a while why it wasn't working. Then I realized what I missed. Essentially to make the "loop" actually work is to make sure the item you're attaching the 2nd wire (wire from generator) is also through the 1st wire highlight. Better explanation: To get the invisible wire from step one to appear, you have to do the same thing to the next object. Otherwise you'll get a bunch of white highlighted objects and when you go to store the wire, the object in question turns off.

    I went from using mods in Fallout 4 back to not using mods because of you, your channel, and the content you create and provide.
    On top of that: You’re humble and give credit where it’s due. You’re fair and appreciative to all. You’re that rare blend of thorough yet concise in explaining concepts and methods.
    Thanks for all you do. 👍🏼❤️

      A feature is advertised on the box, or in the handbook
      Glitches are unexpected gameplay mechanics, that often become features. Cuz creators oppt not to patch them if the community like it and it dosent break a MMO

    Thank you for this. I know it's an old video, but I'm playing Fallout again and I'm really enjoying building settlements. I watched your first video on it and I figured it was harder than it looked and didn't bother trying. After watching this video your step by step with explanations was so good I figured I would give it a go. WOW! Wiring was so ugly and cumbersome before this that I didn't really bother doing it. This has changed everything. Laser turrets everywhere!

    I wonder if you *could* swap generators by running a standard wire to a pylon & then "WiFi Glitch" from it. If you have to swap generators, just do it. Multiple generators for more power, wire the both to the pylon.
    BTW, why not call it the "Tesla Glitch"? After all, he pioneered wireless power over a hundred years ago. Congrats on 100K, it was well deserved.

    Congratulations on 100k. And thanks for the videos. I used this tip to get electricity to my Vault 88 vault-door room. None of the vault power panels you would normally use can snap to the walls in this room. So players would have to use pylons to get power from the auxiliary reactor room if they wanted set up turrets and security rooms.

    I run a moded game, THANKS TO YOU I no longer use place anywhere mod and mods that let me build anyway I want. the only mods I use now just expand what I can build like if it can be found in the game somewhere then I can now make it. the rest of the mods are what I call Sanity mods where 20 settlers no longer talk to me at 1 time, and my companions don't bad mouth me when I pick-up junk. Preston no longer gives me another quest as soon as I turn in one, he has to wait for 2 to 6 game days before he gives me another. And No more hammering sound. they still do the action just no sound. :-)

    I use mods but this is pretty neat. Finally got it to work on a few items. Think I will just keep it for things like switches and terminals as I have place everywhere. Though it has occurred to me I could just hide wires underground. Still, this channel is a place I pick up a lot of cool tips and is a boon to those who can't get mods.

    Love your content, Paul. I know this is way late and others may have mentioned it but when you're using wires with generators I noticed you kept wire glitching by looking at the conduit portion of the fusion generator. You don't have to do that. Any part of the generator allows you to create a wire so you don't have to be nearly as precise of what you're touching when you're doing your wire glitches.

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  6 років тому +2

    Hey i have a suggestion. It would be wonderful if you did a showcase of your students builds and what they have learned throughout your classes. Kinda like an end of semester exam or test if you will. You dont have to grade them A-F as that would seem kinda unfair as builds are like art and cant really be graded. Just your favorite student builds. I would definitely actually finish my red rocket build for the exam.

    I built a 7-story concrete structure yesterday at the Finch Farm... It goes up to and extends over the overpass. Once I was up there I decided to use the extra space for powered water pumps by glitching them into the asphalt overpass. I don't remember anyone else doing this in a video before but I figured out that since they have to be in dirt, I put down a garden plot, then the powered pump, sink it down flush to the ground, then remove the garden plot and I had Wi-Fi powered water pumps in concrete completely out of the way!

    • @SkooledZone

      I actually did that at my Vault 42 build :) ua-cam.com/video/P6n1-POCUrM/v-deo.htmlm50s ...That electric water pump you see is about five stories above the ground. However, you reminded me that I need to include that in my next Miscellaneous tips video. So I'll add a little credit in there for you. 👍

    The only issue I've found with this so far is the area in the air where the wires were will sometimes remain blurry as though the wire is still there somewhere but invisible. I started using as close to a wall as possible to hide it since it will randomly appear in the air like an eyeball floaty.

    Regarding the power armor station, if you use the alternate crafting station and spin it around, you can pretty much set it against the wall and be able to access the business end of you power armor with out bits sticking out the back of the room. Just a thought.

    • @scottthomasholmes
      @scottthomasholmes 6 років тому

      Glitching the power armor station has been trouble for me causing my character to get stuck endlessly trying to install a fusion core to no effect. I've gotten stuck behind them as well when they don't have enough breathing room, such as a couple parked in a row. When you craft or make repairs the armor always turns around facing out front anyways even if you parked it front facing back. I play on PC.

    This procedure works with a computer terminal and the object controlled. I used a Terminal and a Builder from contraptions workshop. Once both were self-powered, I used the same procedure to connect the Terminal to the Builder. The Terminal menu displays the Builder and allows me to access its manufacturing menu. I can't test more elaborate set-ups. My rig crashes regardless of what game I'm playing.

  • @Modhunter42
    @Modhunter42 6 років тому +2

    Your portable terminal is flawed, since it is also connected to the fusion generator that everything else is glitched to. It should be wirelessly attached to it's Own Separate Generator (A small generator Hidden in a silo here with a rug of course). Otherwise it will be changing the settings of all the other switches that are connected here; no you haven't really built here Yet, but it will become a problem as you continue to build somewhere.
    Love my portable terminal, but I use mods.

    Hey there, Paul. Just a quick note bcuz I can't remember which YTers I told & which I hadn't yet. But, just wanna let ya know that I am still watching in the background, even if you don't always see comments 4 a while. Some time ago my cat revenge peed on my laptop, rendering it useless. Won't turn on at all. Still had my phone for internet interactions then. However, during some super hot days recently, while on the charger & B4 we got the air conditioner set back up (had windows on the house replaced), my cell stopped taking any charge from any port (think it burned out somehow) & won't turn on either. So, now I have no personal internet to work with. School is still out until August, so my 8 yr old is on her desktop most of the time (she's gone to bed, so here I am) & I don't wanna usurp it 4 my own frivolous use. I ca, still watch all your videos bcuz I have a You Tube TV app to watch on my big screen, even Twitch, too. But the YT one doesn't have chat or share interactions 4 some stupid reason & the Twitch allows chat, but not sharing. So, my interactions are limited at the moment. Not sure if you miss my long diatribes on your old Assassins Creed Origins DLC vids from couple months back (4 U, new for me), but I'll be back. Gotta send in my cell to TX to either be fixed or replaced & all will be well with the world. My birthday is August 2nd, but pretty sure there's no $ for a new laptop, but I'd make due even with just my cell back. Funny how my "quick" note turns into a whole paragraph! Typical me! :D So, still here, lurking, but persona non grata for a few weeks. Loving this series on the wireless glitch. Some1 told Fallout Lore YTer, Oxhorn, about your series & the glitches (he knew basic ones like rug & pillar already), but he likes the rigged up, scrappy look for his post apocalyptic settlements, so he probably won't use it, but he thanked people for trying to tell him. The word is getting out there, brother! And the channel is growing. Congrats.

      Right, for the glitch to work a few things need to happen.
      1/ You need to create a live wire. You do that by building a generator and putting a conduit on the ground and connecting them, as you normally would. Shown at 11:32.
      2/ You need to create an invisible live wire. You do that by lining three things up, those being your aiming dot, the wire and the generator connector.
      Position your character so that the wire you’ve just connected is between yourself and the connector on the generator. Then line up your aiming dot onto the wire so that it’s highlighted blue with the generator connector in the background and right in line with your aiming dot. Then slightly move your aiming dot so that it’s actually on the generator connector but the wire is still highlighted. Then press attach wire. If you’ve done it successfully you’ll hear (and sometimes see) a spark but no wire. That means you now have an invisible live wire. Shown at 11:43. (Don’t let his crouching throw you off, he’s only doing that because the generator is so low down and he needs to get a good line of sight between his dot, the wire and the generator connector).
      3/ You then repeat that process but instead of lining up with the generator connector, you line up with the connector on whatever you want the power to go to and just attach the wire. In the example on this video, he wanted power to the decontamination arch. So he positioned his aiming dot on the wire connected between the conduit on the floor and the generator, then lined up with the connector on the decontamination arch, adjusted his aiming dot so that the wire was still highlighted but the dot was actually on the decontamination arch connector, then he just pressed attach wire. Shown at 11:47.
      If you pause at precisely 11:47, you’ll see his line of sight is the highlighted wire and the decontamination arch. His aiming dot is on the wire with the decontamination arch connector in the background. Then he slightly moves the dot so that it’s on the arch connector but with the wire still showing as being highlighted. That’s when you attach wire.
      I hope that helps.

    I'm just getting back into fallout. So this wifi glitch is new to me but so is the wire glitch.
    So I had to do several searches to find someone who actually explains both the wifi and wire glitch in the same video
    While I love these schooled videos this one video irritated me because you look at the generator and say wire glitch wire glitch without Explaining what you are doing...
    To break this down
    Place generator. preferable fusion so you don't need to upgrade or change later
    Place conduit on ground
    Place item you want to power behind you [ it even works with other conduits ]
    Link the Conduit on the ground to the generator
    While looking through the wire at the generator hit the attach wire button [ if done right you will hear the electrical noise. This is the "wire glitch"]
    Then turn around and face the item you want powered. you need to step back so you can look at the item through the wire again, hit the attach wire button again [ this is the step that I was messing up on i wasnt looking through the wire again]
    Then after the wire jumps look at the Conduit on the ground hit select to pick it up
    The wire will jump back to this Conduit.
    Place the Conduit back on the floor
    Then store that wire
    The item you use is now wifi powered repeat as needed
    Don't store or delete the generator after it has connections your game will bug out and crash.. remove the powered items before changing generators

      @@SkooledZone I actually have an idea for you involving vault 88
      Infinite food for survival fallout 4
      Mirelurk hatchling farm in vault 88
      《Warning high stealth is recommended》
      《You must have the magazine wastland survival guide hunting in the wastes found at sunshine tidings co-op》
      《Recommended weapon the thirst zapper 🔫 》
      Step 1 set up a settler proof entrance to East sector or the water room tunnel
      Step 2 kill all the small mirelurks in the queens chamber [do not harm the queen she does not regenerate health] Then save the game or sleep in survival
      Step 3 place a garage door to the entrance of the queens room wire it up to open and close
      Step 4 crouch and wait for the queen to go in the water [ NOTE: she likes it over there so just wait until she walks away] then you create a stairway up the right wall [ the wall with the zone control box ] the stairway has to be 4 stair cases high. [I used scaffolding ramp with rails to prevent falling then added warehouse posts for "support" for looks lol] [NOTE : Against this wall prevents her from pathfinding on top of the stairs because her hitbox hits the wall]
      Step 5 build a platform bridge using large floor pieces [ i used warehouse wood floor large] build straight to left just under the ceiling twords the water pump. the 4 stair cases puts the platform above the mirelurk queens head [NOTE: this prevents her from glitching through the platform and spraying you]
      Step 6 build walls around the platform [NOTE: I used warehouse half walls for the bridge, this is important later ]
      Step 7 build a saferoom at the end of the bridge. [I snapped the walls into the ceiling of this room to make it look like it's hanging] make sure the queen cannot see you while in this room. then build balconies on the three sides that are not attached to the bridge. [NOTE: from the balconies you should be able to look down and see the queen]
      [ALSO NOTE: This is the observation deck. make sure there are no crafting benches, beds or any other items settlers like to use. Settlers will kill the mirelurk queen]
      Step 8 save your game again or sleep in survival. [So you dont lose progress] Because now you have to get the queens attention this is where you should use the thirst zapper, the unmodified version doesn't harm the queen when you shoot her but does get her attention.
      Or very risky but if you have not gone to nukaworld yet just run near her get her attention and run up the stairs to the observation deck, once you have her attention but she can't get to you in the safe room she will start shooting mirelurk eggs that explode into hatchlings
      Step 9 the hatchling will run up the stairs or ramp and charge your safe room via the bridge get your favorite melee weapon and smash them on the bridge
      Step 10 as you squash them collect their meat [NOTE: mirelurk hatchlings only drop meat if you have the survival guide for extra meat "hunting in the wastes"]
      Step 11 after you collect the meat throw the now empty hatchling over the bridges wall [NOTE: the warehouse half wall is the perfect hight to not be targeted by the queen but still throw the hatchlings over]
      Step12 crouch and make sure you still have the queens attention [NOTE: if hatchlings quit coming up the queenand her hatchlings probably lost interest in you]
      Step 13 continue this as long as you want because you now have infinite mirelurkmeat forever! A must have farm for survival mode in fallout 4
      END NOTES:
      I made this up myself the only video ever made about it is very old video i made on my other account and I only have 30 followers so it never got popular.
      I keep searching for someone else who may have done this and no one else has to my knowledge.
      The mirelurk queen will never go behind the water pumps so you can still spam more pumps behind it, but I don't know if she can teleport back there if you are spotted so build back there in stealth.
      I would recommend another wall behind the water pump above the cliff in the north east sector to prevent hatchlings getting into the vault
      The queen and mirelurk hatchlings have an idol path in the queens chambers when combat has stopped they will walk in circles
      By building this obviously you loose the ability to build in the east sector but free food is abundant and you can integrate it into your build style
      My first version of this was crazy big with conveyor belts to haul away the dead hatchlings and turrets to auto kill the hatchlings all I had to do was grab the meat as the hatchlings passed by

    This may already be discussed somewhere in the comments or a different build, but as for using smaller generators (or multiple of any size) on the wifi glitch, if you cnnect another generator to the wifi generator, does it add to the power total like normal? I would assume it would, so if you wanted to start before hitting science 4 that shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't store/scrap the original generator, right?

      Update: could not get it to work. Don't know if I did it wrong as I pretty much only got wiring a double switch door down last night. Or if maybe the game just will not let me do it. I crashed my system a couple times attempting this. Don't know if it was because I'm trying it in a massive build either. It's a shame too as I've successfully managed to wire my whole settlement invisibly by hiding conduits inside walls and inside foundations and wire glitching. Only bit that was a mess of wires was the door to my own quarters as they are away from the main wall and sit above a floor so no where for me to hide the conduits and logic gate.

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  4 роки тому +2

      You can't directly "wifi" glitch logic gates. It's pretty much the only thing that causes problems. However, you can wifi glitch a conduit and place it right above the lg node. Then just connect down to it and it'll look wireless. ;-)

Videos like yours have made it the best experience I’ve ever had playing a game. I was going to let you know about a problem. I’ve been having with this Wi-Fi glitch, but you may have just answered it. While the glitch has worked for me and it seems that sometimes when I come back to a settlement, things that were working with the Wi-Fi are no longer working. So if I understand what you said by adding another generator, after the fact, it will disengage the previous connections?

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  8 місяців тому

      Glad the videos have helped. Adding a new generator with the wifi glitch can sometimes make things weird. That's why I usually install the largest one possible and then just use that to power the whole settlement. The big generators from the Vault-Tec workshop usually give more power then you'll ever need.

    Hi Paul, great video, thanks for the clear instructions with your lessons, as always!
    I know its been awhile since you made this, but I'm wondering how to use the wifi glitch with lights that DON'T need a wire directly attached. Like, if I select a light that will light up just due to its proximity to a conduit, the wifi glitch doesn't seem to work because the light is already on from the conduit on the ground that is connected to the generator. Is the only workaround just wifi glitching a switch or another conduit and using that to light up those lights?

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  3 роки тому

      Yes, you can wifi glitch a switch, which will also act as its own conduit but you can shut it off and any lights nearby will shut off if there are no other live conduits within 2 tile squares. I showed that off in the original video actually :) ua-cam.com/video/YdaR7m4gct4/v-deo.html

      Hi Paul, thanks for the super quick response! I watched both videos, but maybe I missed it, but what I'm thinking of, for example, the String of Lights (with 4 lightbulbs), how would you wifi glitch that, if you can?

    • @SkooledZone
      @SkooledZone  3 роки тому +2

      @@scotth3276 Sure thing. Yeah, so you wouldn't be able to "wifi glitch" the string of lights directly just as you couldn't wire it directly normally. If you want to turn them off normally, you'd hook up a conduit near the lights that's supplying the power to that area and then hook the conduit up to a switch. Then, if there are no other conduits in the area, the lights will turn off when you turn the switch off. The wifi glitch works exactly the same way except the wires are "invisible" so to speak. You would just wifi glitch the conduit to the switch and then wifi glitch the switch to the generator. Then you can carry the conduit to the area you want affected by the switch and any lights in the area near that conduit will turn on and off with the switch, which doesn't even have to be nearby.
