Glad you guys are as excited about this as me. Just some added notes for you... 1) I renamed this the "Wifi Glitch" in the sequel video. 2) It still works when you fast-travel away and come back. 3) It still works when you close down your game and reload it later. 4) It still works if the generator gets damaged. Just repair it and you're golden. 5) It still works if you sink the generator in the ground. 6) It still works with multiple generators. Be sure to check out the sequel vid: ua-cam.com/video/O_eEipBr8as/v-deo.html
The funny thing is i found that glitch a mounth back but i didn't know how hell how i did it Thank you now we all know how it works It's a real help ;)
You know Paul, I’m an old lady who likes to play video game, I love playing fallout games, and since playing fallout 4(for quite a while now) I really like the building experience. You are a great instructor, your videos are very clear and easy to understand, thank you very much for all your hard work! Laura😊
Speaking as another old lady I agree with Laura, you are a great instructor and your videos are great! I don't always enjoy full combat-only games (although V.A.T.S. makes combat so much easier) but the building is great fun! With your help I will be able to build great settlements, while my husband gets to play all the action & combat missions! Hoping you continue with your great videos!
Me too. It's the building side that I like best. Been on Fallout 4 since October 2017 and nearly every day. Honest. It keeps my mind right coz I'm a loon. Don't know whether you've added mods but they give you excellent additions to your builds.
I started playing again right before the TV show aired. Your videos are not only extremely helpful, but your teaching method is super easy to follow and enjoyable. Still helping people years later
Man you’re the goat. Even 5 years later this videos gotta be up top if not the most useful video I’ve found for this game. 3rd run on vanilla, after the 2nd time being about a 6-7 year time gap of not playing it. And I’m just now tapping into this. Thank you for the insight coach 🤝
Couple things my dear amazing teacher. 1) You can glitch regular conduits like you do the switches so you can place them near general powered objects that need no connection. I hid mine under ceiling fans so you can't see them. 2) You only need the generator for the first attempt. After you've glitched a switch, light, or pole that item will act like the generator from that point allowing you to glitch off that item. That way you don't have to keep running back to the generator but can continue by using anything previously glitched. 3) You can chain the glitch to do multiple conduits or switches in a row by using the above step. Start using the generator to glitch the first switch then use that switch to glitch the next switch and so on. You can do it indefinitely and knock out a settlement worth of Self Powered switches in one go. I hope this helps all my fellow classmates going forward.
*update* I got it! After watching his "deep dive into wiring glitch" video, the "true wire glitch" part. Whew! It's all about your viewpoint. Leave room to look through the wire and right at the conduit, while only highlighting the wire. It pops right to where you want it! Thank you so much for your "deep dive" series, it gives us the building blocks we need ⭐
MandaLa 314 - Thanks for that! That is a very basic part I wasn’t getting and I don’t think Skooled Zone really explains it so simply here because he’s zipping about so fast!
Paul! You crossed the streams! You're never supposed to cross the streams! On the other hand, Nikola Tesla would approve of this technique for the wireless transmission of power.
I did this accidentally years ago and I was never able to replicate it until I found your video. I still comeback after all these years for a refresher course. Thank you for all your work, your lessons are invaluable!
OMG Paul and James!!! Thank you!! This is beyond amazing! Personally i would like to add a computer terminal and a bunch of electrical type things together to create a grunge tech looking device that is the tech that is making wireless power. This has to be the best no mod shop class lesson!!!!
I love your videos! Speaking from a computer science background... everything in fallout is an object and those objects have attributes. Imagine an attribute that is either true or false and is called isWired. When the user connects a wire to a conduit it sets the attribute to true and when the wire is removed it sets it to false. You are interacting with the wire in a way that omits the event that turns the isWired attribute false. In the end the glitch tricks the object into thinking that the isWired attribute is still true and you get a portable powered object.
As someone looking into computer science and game development, this is actually a really helpful way of understanding things like code. I might start relating code to my Fallout 4 builds more often.
@Hanz Ketchup he did pass 100k... and I'm sure he'll get 250k. Might be a while but it's not my problem if he does or not so I really don't care... but yea, I'm so embarrassed 🤣
I can only admire the creators for putting this game up. Because the more complex the gaming system is, the more gamers are able to manipulate the environment, the more can go wrong totally . I just started Fallout 4 a week ago (finally I've got time to do this after waiting for 5 years). Heck, it was worth the wait. I think PORTAL was the last time I was so mesmerized by a game. All the possibilities! As an art designer and a 50 year old playchild Fallout 4 has everything for me to go bonkers with my creativity. And your instructions are compact, modless and lively presented. Thank you very much! ♥ And THIS wire glitch video just came in handy after I totally got wired up wiring my home base entangled in wires. ♫♪♫♫♪
WOW! This is going to totally change the way I power settlement builds. It opens up soooooo many ideas for me that I couldn't get to work! Mad props to the OP and a HUUUUUUUGE thank you Paul for the video. I'm a very happy camper, lol.
I think you're right about why this works. I think the key is selecting the conduit after the 2nd wire glitch. Because the object is glitched, selecting the conduit doesn't/can't/won't reset the On/Off state of the object, so it stays in the On state. Very cool!
Interestingly enough, I discovered after the video that you don't need to select the conduit again after the 2nd wire glitch. Just store the wire. As Todd Howard would say, "It just works." LOL.
Fallout being my favorite series ever.. you opened a whole new chapter and I used to hate the settlement building but now it’s a crucial part of my play through with role playing in fallout
Ive been putting off a lot of your videos because I didnt have the dlcs downloaded but I just recently got them back so Im gonna be watching so many episodes of no mod shop class.
I’m so damn grateful to have stumbled upon this channel! I used this and the wire glitch video to light up my Red Rocket Truck Stop! It’s incredible to see that it works! I’ve hooked the power up to a switch and connected that switch to a bunch of conduits using this trick. Now I can light up my Red Rocket at night and turn the lights off during the day but without all those incredibly ugly cables all over the place :D
Paul and the guy who suggested this, this takes clean build to a whole new level. I thought the regular wire glitch was game changing but this, this is amazing!! Double wire glitch for the win.
I just started playing FO4, first time playing any of the FO games. I'm so thrilled I found your channel, there's so many helpful tips, ideas, etc that will hopefully help simplify the process of game play. From building structures, using materials to provide power to lights/terminals, etc your videos have made the process easier to understand. Given the fact that I have a learning disability (my ADHD 🧠 absorbs/processes information differently) I really appreciate the way you show/explain things more than just once! Having both the verbal & visual input is a game changer for me - pun fully intended 😂😂👏👏👍👍
Okay… I struggled a bit on the first course of tries… and that really bothered this former IT Director. So I pulled out my old “tools” and sat down with a legal pad, went back over your vid, taking notes and making diagrams to get a full understanding of how the process worked. Then put it to practice. Every time I messed it up, I referred back to the drawings and notes and it started become clear!!! Thank you for re-igniting the brain cells that had become dormant over the last couple of years. I had recently acquired Dalton Farm and began using the process to replace the wired builds already in place and am on track to eliminate all the wiring I can over the next week! DiMa, the Children and Far Harbor will just have to handle things on their own until I make the FH settlements Wireless! Thanks for the info, as well as your efforts to explain this and other tips that you have taught us!!!
I downloaded a mod to remove wires and produce this very thing, only for my game to lag because of it. To find out it was possible in-game without any mods is terrific! Wire's always made the settlements look ugly and in a world where we have advanced robots and laser guns; you'd think wireless power would be a thing. Still can't wait to try this!
I was absolutely ecstatic the first time I got this in game. I knew there was a glitch like this and I planned to use it to replace all of the street lights in Sanctiary bc I absolutely hated the look of all the wiring going down the streets. Thanks for the vid brother 😁
This is probably the single most awesome tip I've ever seen and I've not seen anyone else give it. I've completely started again. GOD DAMN but I love this channel
Thank you for continuing to provide valuable bonus information on your Fallout 4 No Mods Shop Class channel! I hope that at least the settlement building portion of Fallout 76 will interest you enough to do the same for that iteration of the Fallout Universe. Despite whatever other pros and cons the game may have, I am super excited to see what comes of the settlement building techniques! Will be an adventure to see what still works and what new hat tricks we can pull off!
Paul, Great video. I wonder if you and that guy have stumbled upon something that the devs did not even know about. While the word team does not have an i in it, the word unit does. When people go to spell unit out loud they are forced to say u-n-i-t, which just shows the beauty of the word because it includes the i but only after the u. Videos and channels like this one perfectly illustrate that point by not placing yourself first and giving credit when credit is due. Sincerely, Jennifer M. Montgomery
Mind blown! Beside myself with the myriad of a possibilities this presents. Discovery only dies by the halt of exploration. Can't thank you both enough, Cheers!
I tried to understand this video without first having seen your other videos, but I didn't know what was happening on-screen. Not until I went back and watched your Original Wire Glitch video did I "get it." You are absolutely correct, however. This is a major discovery and totally original.
Im not sure im gunna fully comprehend the implications of this 4 a while. Or what this means. Or what this makes possible. Im in shock. Ive got a million questions now
Thanks for the share! This is a game changer for my Sanctuary Hills settlement build. I'm going to love having the street lined with lights and each house powered without running wires between them!
I've been creating settlements since 2015 but this is the most informative tech that Ive ever found. Thanks man! Truly an innovator. Shout outs to the viewer that showed you this glitch!
I"ve only been playing Fallout 4 since ... a couple weeks before the series dropped. It's literally the only game I've been playing since then. FO3, New Vegas, Control, Mass Effect - haven't touched any of them. This is amazing. Thank you, I'm subscribing.
41 morons disliked this video... what is wrong with people? Paul in intelligent, well spoken, concise, and you learn a lot from his videos. This blows my mind!
You just saved me hours upon hours upon hours of engineering work for the lighting inside my airship on spectacle island. This is a godsend in fallout 4. I can now easily create separate lighting for each individual room with their own switches (NO WIRES). This will save on tons of settlement size now that I don't have to set up huge strings of conduits, pass-throughs, etc. all along the ship. Genius.
This is the single greatest discovery in workshop Settlement building. I don't know how you or anyone else will ever be able to top it. Kudos. My airship thanks you. I am naming it the Nostromo.
I can't quit commenting on how great this is. I was absolutely dreading the days and possibly week I would be spending, trying to get everything designed. From all of the wires that would need to be hidden, to making sure all the lights worked and didn't overlap into other rooms. I don't think I will be spending much more than 3 hours tops now. Most of that time will just be decision making on how I want everything to look. Building is going to be pure joy on this project. Turrets, powered doors, any light you want. This is the biggest trick that I know millions of people have been hoping for. Kudos again to you two for the discoveries.
Double Wire glitch is a very appropriate name for this. I have another name idea as well. Like you mentioned at the end of your video, you don't know how it is acting as its own conduit. You were attaching the wire from a conduit. Think about it, you basically sent a "Ghost Wire" from the conduit to the object to become self powered. It gained its abilities to be self powered from the generator (an unseen ghost wire is still attached to the generator from the object) and its abilities to be a conduit went in as well from the conduit on the floor (that's the best theory I can come up with). I think the "Double Ghost Wire glitch" would be a great name. Your baby though. I now challenge you to see if that theory is true and maybe you can actually mix properties of different objects. Think about it, if you prove this over a lot of R&D time, you might just blow your own mind.
Mind. Blown. But! As a noob I can't understand how you did the initial wire glitch :( I even went back to your first wire glitch video but it wasn't for wireless so I can't figure it out. Help?!
Thanks for all the great videos they have made my fallout 4 experience even better not to mention making the building so much smoother and less tedious.
I have recently subscribed and gotta say its amazing to see all that can be done. Just recently started replaying without mods and was curious if these techniques work for xbox
Was so excited I had to try this this morning (for me anyway in the UK) so wired up some connectors for my new build and it worked, house powered with connectors no wires, yay! Thanks Paul.
I was a Skyrim guy so only had enough time for one mistress. Great thing about getting into another game now after all these years videos like this pure gold
A-MA-ZING!! This is unbelievable!! I should not have watched this on my lunch break as now all I'm thinking about is the hundreds of edits I want to make to my settlements (apologies in advance clients for the distracted look on my face in our meetings, haha). Paul, James... THANK YOU!!
Mind-blowing! I'm currently building a vault in Hangman's Alley (no mods on PS4) and all of your techniques or "classes" have helped me SO much! Thank you very much!
Thanks Paul I now have a whole lot of electrical work to do. I also want to let you know that you can take this another step by double wire glitching the switches too. for example I double wire glitched a switch to the generator. Then double wire that switch to the cycle light. Now I have a on off switch for my Cycle light or what ever I want turrets doors or lighted posters with no wires at all. Same steps just substitute the switch in place of the generator. Have fun people.
So I discovered if you do this same trick with a terminal and an object that connects to it like a light panel you can move the terminal as far as away as the settlement allows and still be able to change the objects settings without any wires! It’s like fallout Bluetooth
I watched this a long time ago, but without having "attended" any of the pre-requisite classes... So it went totally over my puny human brain. Got it this time. Brilliant. BTW - I'm on PC, so have been spoiled by long power line mods, and bigger power radius pylon mods... But with a recent game update, neither work any more. Your videos have come from the past to save my a$$. Thank you!
Just wanted to say it nice to see you to build in other settlements, it gives me more ideas on what to do with my other settlements. Keep up the great work.
Glad you guys are as excited about this as me. Just some added notes for you...

This will change the way I build settlements, thanks so much for sharing. Amazing!
I glitched construction light off a self powered wall switch and it seemed to work just fine.
Well, i tried using a powered switch instead of a generator and it does work..., now we have wireless switches!! :P
The funny thing is i found that glitch a mounth back but i didn't know how hell how i did it

It's a real help ;)

This is... But... What...
I don't even...
Excuse me.
I have a huge amount of rewiring to do.
Benjamin Beeler Me too lol

Nice! Thanks for sharing sir. Can't wait to try this out.
Your videos are a great help to this day. Thank you.
Mind. Blown.
👍
I have recently subscribed and gotta say its amazing to see all that can be done. Just recently started replaying without mods and was curious if these techniques work for xbox
I believe Paul's techniques work on all consoles, and he uses XBox himself. :)
Thank you
And they work on the PC too!
Was so excited I had to try this this morning (for me anyway in the UK) so wired up some connectors for my new build and it worked, house powered with connectors no wires, yay! Thanks Paul.
Great video
I was a Skyrim guy so only had enough time for one mistress. Great thing about getting into another game now after all these years videos like this pure gold
Awesome!
My first ever attempt and it worked! I've never even tried the basic wireglitch before. This is amazing.
Awesome stuff
A-MA-ZING!! This is unbelievable!! I should not have watched this on my lunch break as now all I'm thinking about is the hundreds of edits I want to make to my settlements (apologies in advance clients for the distracted look on my face in our meetings, haha).
Paul, James... THANK YOU!!
Sooo Helpful.Thanks Teach n James😁
Mind-blowing! I'm currently building a vault in Hangman's Alley (no mods on PS4) and all of your techniques or "classes" have helped me SO much! Thank you very much!
You bet. And thanks for watching! =)
I actually could fall in love with you just for your voice.
Holy smokes this is incredible. Been putting off wiring up sanctuary in my latest playthrough due to getting irritated fighting wires.
Please explain the wire glitch
Divergent Drums I think he has another no mods shop class video explaining it
Ali Ezz ok thanks
Thanks Paul I now have a whole lot of electrical work to do. I also want to let you know that you can take this another step by double wire glitching the switches too. for example I double wire glitched a switch to the generator. Then double wire that switch to the cycle light. Now I have a on off switch for my Cycle light or what ever I want turrets doors or lighted posters with no wires at all. Same steps just substitute the switch in place of the generator. Have fun people.
Yes indeed. I actually covered that in the sequel vid: ua-cam.com/video/O_eEipBr8as/v-deo.html
I've never seen something like this
So I discovered if you do this same trick with a terminal and an object that connects to it like a light panel you can move the terminal as far as away as the settlement allows and still be able to change the objects settings without any wires! It’s like fallout Bluetooth
ill be honest you sounded like a kid opening his Christmas presents XD
This is like discovering fire lol.. im curious if it uses up copper..
Thanks to the James for figuring it out and you for evolving in.
IKR? I don't think it uses up copper because you can store the wires afterwards. Check out the sequel: ua-cam.com/video/O_eEipBr8as/v-deo.html
I'm here in 2024... :)
Your videos have come from the past
to save my a$$. Thank you!
Yeah!!
Just wanted to say it nice to see you to build in other settlements, it gives me more ideas on what to do with my other settlements. Keep up the great work.
Simply amazing video and turns my settlement into a thing of wasteland beauty not all messy from wires anymore keep up the good work love your videos
Best glitch ever!! Thanks so much James and Paul! I can now have proper street lighting and lighting everywhere in each settlement.
Hey Paul. Thanks for another amazing trick. Tried it out on my latest Egret Tour build. Very cool. Always enjoy the lessons.
This is freaking fantastic!!!
I'mma go and try this right now. :)
I love your videos.
