You can also do an unlimited cap method in the basement of the town hall in Jamaica plain where it will take a few minutes to deactivate all the laser traps yielding 49 of each crystal and fiber optics where you can sell those for like 5 caps per unit making 100% profit and to reset the traps just press the red button by the security door at the end of the hallway the only con is the materials weigh a substantial amount when you get a lot of them so take a companion to save time
Alternatively, you can spec into Strong Back and Lone Wanderer, then travel with Dogmeat (the game doesn't classify him as a companion) and load up on strength and carry weight enhancing gear, mods, and chems until you get far enough into Strong Back to be able to fast travel.

This isn't a glitch all he's doing is getting his skills up to decrease the Buy price to break even so it's a loop and he's not losing anything swear people can't tell the difference between a glitch/exploit or something that is apart of the game that's unbalanced
I’m glad Bethesda aren’t Aholes like Rockstar always patching things even in a single player game. The beauty of Bethesda games is that the exploits are left purposely so players enjoy and play the game longer. Skyrim and Fallout are proof that exploits left unpatched preserves the games life.

I just got the dlcs and this is very helpful, also I definitely still care about this game I have been playing it without the dlcs and only started playing with mods about a year ago.
this is better than the leveling method I was using (wood/steel shelves and rubber mats), which wield the same xp per steel (unless you scrap which is time consuming). even on survival you can load up on caltrops before leaving sanctuary, no need to pick up other items to sell since the price per weight is 80 and if you do need to pick up other items you can just drop them, it's not like I was making that much money from shelves anyway!
@Andrew Gonzalez can confirm. It can be a little tedious, but its great if you want "gear up" with things like the Overseers Guardian rifle or Spray and Pray early in the game.
It is a good method for making money. But you can buy the shipments of steel from Percy during the evenings as well. If you do the vendor bartering perks you can buy her fertilizer and plastic shipments and make jet too. I'll set up water purifiers in sanctuary too. Purified water is an easy caps generator too.
I just started playing this, I can't get enough caps and NEED ammo, I have NO ammo, needed caps to get ammo, now I have every single armor set and 400 fusion cores. And 3000 fusion cells (not using this glitch) I just need the X01 MK 1, 2, 3, and 4, to complete my set
I almost never buy ammo, just make sure you have the 'luck' perks which allow you to find more ammo in containers. You don't have to be a very high level to get the perk either
Keep on going and you will get the stuff btw you can get an xo1 on a tower in Boston can't remember witch but there will be an asaultron and 2 sentry bot on the roof you will need to hit the buttons in the rooms there from at level 28 and you get a full set as long as you weren't on the roof before.
Mrbuck832 Idk , the custom house tower is what your looking for . once you find that building look for another building that has gold letters on it and two bubble turrets on it then that’s your tower

At first I started losing profit, which was viable as I was spending more then making. Until I bought some stuff for charisma furthering the buy to sell ratio Now for every 1323 caps spent, I aquire 350 steel. 5 goes into 350 70 times. I sell 70 for 2170, leaving me with a profit of 847 caps on one turn over which takes less than 5 minutes c:
My charisma is 11 (6 from SPECIAL and the rest from clothing, including 1 charisma from my patch on my creation club military backpack). I was also sarcastic with Carla to obtain her discount. I don't yet have any vendor perks from magazines. She is charging 1,249 caps for a shipment of 250 steel and offering 14 caps for regular caltrops and 22 caps for poisoned caltrops. At 5 steel per caltrop, I can make 50 caltrops for each 250 steel shipment... which sells for a total of 700 caps for regular caltrops and 1,100 caps for poisoned ones... both of which represent a net loss. This may be profitable after acquiring more magazines or charisma higher than 11, but it's certainly not profitable right now.
You will lose money unless you are 10 char and boost it past that with clothes chems bobbles and magazines. Which is really key information that is left out. IT DOES NOT make you money with low charisma and no investment which is how it seems I. The video. So come out the gate with charisma high and perk points invested heavenly into it or dont expect any profit
Wow, I love your caltrop method! What I did was set up about 10 water purifiers in the river and have been selling the purified water in Diamond City and Goodneighbor. It works great but necessitates filling me and dogmeat up with water to travel due to the weight. I'm going to cut into your business now by using your own tool ;) thanks!
Thanks a lot. Used your method and later in the game used the Water Purifiers method. Saved up like 12k caps after buying all the legendary weapons in the Commonwealth, excluding the DLCs. All the new players should see this tutorial, especially at the start of the play through. Much appreciated. 👏
Planning to do this on my first ever survival run as an evil melee raider build (no stealth, no power armour). A few points to mention / improve this strat: - you need high/boosted charisma when buying shipments & selling caltrops otherwise you will be trading at a loss over time - wear charisma clothes (+2 suit/dress, +1 hat, +1 glasses) - consumables; drink a beer or gwinnet for +1, take day tripper for +3 AND grape mentats for +5/improved buying & selling - grab as many tales of a junktown jerky vendor magazine as possible (there's at least 4 fairly easy ones to grab asap; walden pond, mystic pines, super duper mart & big john's salvage) - take cap collector perks and build settlement shops; this gives more profits for trades and more vendors to buy shipments off in your settlements - most merchants now stock large shipments as of 1.7 update, for example even trashcan carla now has 250 steel, meaning you're not limited to one or two in major cities - for grape mentats collect any hub flower your see, buy / loot any whiskey you see, buy / loot any mentats you see - day tripper cannot be crafted unfortunately; two in concord speakeasy, one in concord civic access and two in a shack just north of vault 81 to get you started, then buy from medical / drug merchants Combining all the above really snowballs the profits and ensures a self-sustaining economy as you'll be making enough caps to keep buying the steel shipments, day tripper, whiskey etc as you cycle through all the vendors.
For later in game I like the industrial water one. Where get a settlement and put a bunch of industrial waters there and you can continue to play the game while all the excess purified waters go into the workbench. I recommend sanctuary for this. You can also substitute the stims for purified water or just sell them all.
I'll always still care about FO4! Thanks for the great tips. I had been crafting a bunch of Jet for selling, but your method allows me to start much sooner since I don't have to wait until I get enough plastic and fertilizer. Can't wait to start my next play through and try this!
@@redwind5150, Vault 88, right? I even started a new game, saving all the tools I was finding. He'll buy as much as you have; haven't found his limit yet. I had enough the first time I went there I got about 10,000 caps. Plus, dropping them all and directing your companion to pick them up gets around the companion's weight carry limit. Took me a while to figure that out! Now I can get Piper to pick up all those weapons/armor I had to leave behind when I first started playing.

I started saving all the weapons I got off of enemies (most of them pipe weapons) until I got the last level of the Scrapper perk so I could get the most scrap out of each one. Didn't realize how much I was missing out on early in the game by immediately scrapping them all. Videos like these and from Skooled Zone have completely elevated my game play. I can build more, have more fun and get what I need much quicker. Thanks to everyone for the terrific tips and get-arounds!
To the people who dont have the DLC you can just level up all your other abilities except for intelligence and just get idiot savant and place down items that dont use alot of materials

I've lost count of my play throughs! Also still finding new things and legendary weapons. The build system is incredible and trying new methods still keeps me coming back. FO76 was a huge disappointment. Been waiting for some type of follow up besides '76. I thought it'd be Starfield, but it looks like I'll have to buy a new Xbox & online subscription to be able to play it. Maybe a PS5 version in 2023? Keeping this game on one console thumbs their nose at PS users, but what do I know about game development...
If you have the best water purifier(with out dlc) it produces bottles of water that you can sell for 20 caps each, if you have 4 purifiers, that's like 3k caps in one hour of fallout mission time
Still works I wasn’t getting XP at first however if you combine this with the resource dupe glitch you can get thousands of steel then just spam the craft button
I collect caps but I don't spend caps. Purified Water is my goto. I have thousands of small water pumps in Vault 88 producing thousands of PW a day (in-game day), and in my current playthrough, level 69, at 150+ hrs played, I have 60,000+ PW, and over 200,000 caps but, again: I don't spend my caps. I collect them. I also collect gold bars from the bank, and pre-war money and built me a Scrooge McDuck Vault in Vault 88. Now, you can't drop caps so it's only gold bars and pre-war money everywhere but I do add Nuka-World tokens, Subway tokens etc., to varying containers strewn across the area. I also have a 4-story building at another settlement with only a first level floor, (like a silo) with teddy bears almost to the very top. A door, if opened, will make the teddy bears tumble out. I've done this in several playthroughs. In one playthrough, at the Red Rocket settlement in Nuka-World I displayed all my legendary weapons/armor (some non-legendary special weapon/armor) in two connecting buildings, 3-stories, and when going into one room it was packed to the roof with gold bars. I don't even play the main game anymore. I have 0 main game quests completed for Fallout 4 in my current playthrough. Just collecting stuff, building stuff...none of my settlements (excluding Vault 88) have settlers in them, and in Vault 88, it's 70+ robots tending to my 6-story greenhouse in the Atrium of Mutfruit, Corn, and Tatos. No cheats or mods (a few exploits) in any of the above.
Strength to carry your scraps back home and a settlement with lots of water... Science perk at level 1, (int 6), so you can build the advanced water purifier and you have the start of a massive pure water empire. You can do it without mods but if you want to add one, Uncapped Settlement Surplus will make it easier. I one playthrough I just hauled all the water I could to diamond city... There was nothing I couldn't buy, use a power armor to haul more.
I respect your dedication to the purity 👌 I've done so many play throughs that I'm now happy to bypass the hard work and use the dupe glitch shortcut on gold, but this one is new to me! Bravo!
Started playing fallout for the first time I've played for like an hour in the past but It was too depressing so this time I installed some realism mods and game world mods and it's amazing if you have any tips I'll love to see them
Water purifiers are the best way to make money for me... build them as much as you can, get your charisma up and do missions.. then when ingame time passes when you do missions and collect materials for more water purifiers you come back to your settlement collect (for me because I have a lot of these machines) like 200-600 water and sell them in diamond city or in your own marketstores for 2000-6000 caps a day!
shit that is actually the best method! I wish I knew that when I started survival on ps4, now I'm level 89 and caltrops xp wont really help at this point
Never really had an issue with caps. Not past the early game/low levels, anyway. Just selling assault rifles and Institute lasers that drop in job lots from the enemies I have to kill gets me plenty of cash. But this is a nice way to get started without feeling broke all the time. Especially nice for a Commando build, since keeping automatic weapons fed with ammo can get expensive.
Been working to get myself set up to make caltrops. Scrapping materials finding screws to make the chemistry bench. The guy in the video doesn’t tell you that you need the damn far Harbor DLC to get Caltrops before you can start making them.
@@HSGUnlimited thats not fully correct, he means the legendary version „Recon Marien armor“ which you can buy the parts at the children of the atom except for the helmet, you can only find the standard marine armor underwater
you can duplicate the materials by holding on scrap (square) then slide it to store (circle) and it should have like a scrap over a store screen theres a vid about it
@@TheGamingBurglar basicly its a two step process without any mods 1-scrap all the trees(wood) in sanctuary should have around 2k pieces of wood 2-spam craft wooden shelf over and over and then dismantle all the wooden shelf u crafted and redo it again. After around 25-30 Minutes u should walk away with lvl 16 starting character

I think they changed the values. I bought a shipment of steel made the poisoned traps sold them all back and ended up loosing like 90% of the steels cost.

If you wanted to be even more efficient you can combine this with the junk duplication glitch for infinite steel, this meaning for Xp you will never have to even leave sanctuary
If you have the Wasteland Workshop DLC you can craft the Builder and Turn 3 Steel in the vault-tec lunch boxes. Then sell those boxes at least twice what the steel would cost separately
You should eat squirrel stew as well in Sanctuary, because it gives you an Exp bonus. Its fairly easy to get the stuff to make some in the beginning. You can also go to Myrna's robot at night, so you can get double shipments every 48 hrs (so wait like 8 hrs for the bot, then do 40 hrs, etc.)

You can scrap clothing items after you do all the railroad dead drops and unlock the armour ability for normal clothing

- most merchants now stock large shipments as of 1.7 update, for example even trashcan carla now has 250 steel, meaning you're not limited to one or two in major cities
- for grape mentats collect any hub flower your see, buy / loot any whiskey you see, buy / loot any mentats you see
- day tripper cannot be crafted unfortunately; two in concord speakeasy, one in concord civic access and two in a shack just north of vault 81 to get you started, then buy from medical / drug merchants
Combining all the above really snowballs the profits and ensures a self-sustaining economy as you'll be making enough caps to keep buying the steel shipments, day tripper, whiskey etc as you cycle through all the vendors.
For later in game I like the industrial water one. Where get a settlement and put a bunch of industrial waters there and you can continue to play the game while all the excess purified waters go into the workbench. I recommend sanctuary for this. You can also substitute the stims for purified water or just sell them all.
Selling the purified water? Never done that. Usually use them for health, but now I'll sell.

I just got fallout 4 a couple weeks ago, I'm loving it so far. I'm only 61 hours in and level 91 with 15 sets of power armor..

Tools for the vault near oberland are an easy source for caps
@@redwind5150, Vault 88, right? I even started a new game, saving all the tools I was finding. He'll buy as much as you have; haven't found his limit yet. I had enough the first time I went there I got about 10,000 caps. Plus, dropping them all and directing your companion to pick them up gets around the companion's weight carry limit. Took me a while to figure that out! Now I can get Piper to pick up all those weapons/armor I had to leave behind when I first started playing.
@@johnstockman2026 Yup that's right, for me I gather around fifty, and always turn it in that way. I also save pipe weapons in the beginning to mod, for selling. ROLF good money to be made for them.

I started saving all the weapons I got off of enemies (most of them pipe weapons) until I got the last level of the Scrapper perk so I could get the most scrap out of each one. Didn't realize how much I was missing out on early in the game by immediately scrapping them all. Videos like these and from Skooled Zone have completely elevated my game play. I can build more, have more fun and get what I need much quicker. Thanks to everyone for the terrific tips and get-arounds!

2o22 and im on my 10+ play through and i still find things ive never seen before or finding new ways to approach quests with diffrent builds... The fallout universe as well as the elder scrolls franchise is absolute fantasy bliss (bugs and all). Thanks bethesda
I've lost count of my play throughs! Also still finding new things and legendary weapons. The build system is incredible and trying new methods still keeps me coming back. FO76 was a huge disappointment. Been waiting for some type of follow up besides '76. I thought it'd be Starfield, but it looks like I'll have to buy a new Xbox & online subscription to be able to play it. Maybe a PS5 version in 2023? Keeping this game on one console thumbs their nose at PS users, but what do I know about game development...

If you have the best water purifier(with out dlc) it produces bottles of water that you can sell for 20 caps each, if you have 4 purifiers, that's like 3k caps in one hour of fallout mission time

I collect caps but I don't spend caps. Purified Water is my goto. I have thousands of small water pumps in Vault 88 producing thousands of PW a day (in-game day), and in my current playthrough, level 69, at 150+ hrs played, I have 60,000+ PW, and over 200,000 caps but, again: I don't spend my caps. I collect them. I also collect gold bars from the bank, and pre-war money and built me a Scrooge McDuck Vault in Vault 88.
Now, you can't drop caps so it's only gold bars and pre-war money everywhere but I do add Nuka-World tokens, Subway tokens etc., to varying containers strewn across the area.
I also have a 4-story building at another settlement with only a first level floor, (like a silo) with teddy bears almost to the very top. A door, if opened, will make the teddy bears tumble out. I've done this in several playthroughs. In one playthrough, at the Red Rocket settlement in Nuka-World I displayed all my legendary weapons/armor (some non-legendary special weapon/armor) in two connecting buildings, 3-stories, and when going into one room it was packed to the roof with gold bars. I don't even play the main game anymore. I have 0 main game quests completed for Fallout 4 in my current playthrough. Just collecting stuff, building stuff...none of my settlements (excluding Vault 88) have settlers in them, and in Vault 88, it's 70+ robots tending to my 6-story greenhouse in the Atrium of Mutfruit, Corn, and Tatos.
No cheats or mods (a few exploits) in any of the above.
Combine this with the building all of the wooden posts u can get to like level 15 after u finish the clatrips
Strength to carry your scraps back home and a settlement with lots of water... Science perk at level 1, (int 6), so you can build the advanced water purifier and you have the start of a massive pure water empire. You can do it without mods but if you want to add one, Uncapped Settlement Surplus will make it easier. I one playthrough I just hauled all the water I could to diamond city... There was nothing I couldn't buy, use a power armor to haul more.
I love fallout 4, I'm replaying it again. Trying to platinum it on ps4 without any glitches :P

Started playing fallout for the first time I've played for like an hour in the past but It was too depressing so this time I installed some realism mods and game world mods and it's amazing if you have any tips I'll love to see them
Water purifiers are the best way to make money for me... build them as much as you can, get your charisma up and do missions.. then when ingame time passes when you do missions and collect materials for more water purifiers you come back to your settlement collect (for me because I have a lot of these machines) like 200-600 water and sell them in diamond city or in your own marketstores for 2000-6000 caps a day!
This is serious big brain moves and I still care about Fallout 4 at the very start of 2022.

Never really had an issue with caps. Not past the early game/low levels, anyway. Just selling assault rifles and Institute lasers that drop in job lots from the enemies I have to kill gets me plenty of cash. But this is a nice way to get started without feeling broke all the time. Especially nice for a Commando build, since keeping automatic weapons fed with ammo can get expensive.

This method combines with the duplication glitch of crafting materials is really good
to level up quickly, make wooden or steel shelves, the long skinny ones. you can get to level 12-15 without leaving sanctuary
Later on though they're a b!tch to get rid of. Just grab dogmeat with lone wanderer and get the magazine in saugus ironworks.
Been working to get myself set up to make caltrops. Scrapping materials finding screws to make the chemistry bench. The guy in the video doesn’t tell you that you need the damn far Harbor DLC to get Caltrops before you can start making them.

You only need to buy the helmet for 10,000 caps, the rest you can just find in crates underwater

you can duplicate the materials by holding on scrap (square) then slide it to store (circle) and it should have like a scrap over a store screen theres a vid about it

1-scrap all the trees(wood) in sanctuary should have around 2k pieces of wood
2-spam craft wooden shelf over and over and then dismantle all the wooden shelf u crafted and redo it again.
After around 25-30 Minutes u should walk away with lvl 16 starting character

I think they changed the values. I bought a shipment of steel made the poisoned traps sold them all back and ended up loosing like 90% of the steels cost.

If you wanted to be even more efficient you can combine this with the junk duplication glitch for infinite steel, this meaning for Xp you will never have to even leave sanctuary
If you have the Wasteland Workshop DLC you can craft the Builder and Turn 3 Steel in the vault-tec lunch boxes. Then sell those boxes at least twice what the steel would cost separately
You should eat squirrel stew as well in Sanctuary, because it gives you an Exp bonus. Its fairly easy to get the stuff to make some in the beginning. You can also go to Myrna's robot at night, so you can get double shipments every 48 hrs (so wait like 8 hrs for the bot, then do 40 hrs, etc.)
