My biggest problem with this game is not really that it's Apple Arcade exclusive (which yeah, I do have a problem with that, it's just not the biggest problem with it), but it's the fact that this is the time Sega decided to have a game like this made. It's something a lot of us have been wanting for years now; multiple playable characters in a 3D Sonic platformer, which we haven't had (in a mainline game at least) since Sonic 06, not counting the 3rd major update for Sonic Frontiers. And after hearing that it's like a mix of Adventure 2 and Mario 64, that made me even more frustrated cause that sounds awesome. Even if I had an Apple device that could play this game perfectly well, it wouldn't be the way I'd want to play it. Now of course the game isn't out yet, it could end up sucking. But still, many, many Sonic fans are mad. Yes, Apple helped fund this game, but unless they had a big influence on the idea of how the game would be, Sega made a huge mistake having this kind of game made for them and not for the platforms 99% of Sonic fans would want to use to play it.
Agreed. All we can do is hope it gets ported to pc and maybe even some consoles after the contract expires instead of getting de-listed and falling into obscurity
@johnpett1955 hopefully so! This wouldn't be as frustrating if we had gotten something like this in the past couple of years on console and PC. Like yes, we'd still want Dream Team more avaliable, but we'd be like "well at least we got [game] not too long ago". Exclusivity of any kind sucks, and I really do hope that the game comes out to other platforms after the contract runs up rather than it being taken off the platform and within time become unplayable - I'm very much looking forward to the release of it, just upgraded to the latest iMac so I'm defs ready to experience it!
Exclusivity for consoles makes sense for some games , I don’t think people would buy a Nintendo console if it had no exclusives. But making a sonic game exclusive to an Apple device makes even less sense even though I own iPhone and Apple TV 4K

Living in a shitty country, I have to save money for months just to buy a single 60$ game a year, and used iPhone costs excatly the same, so no, the 'buy and old phone just to play one game' isn't really an option. Still, I'm at least happy the game got made and some people will be able to enjoy it. I'll check your streams once it comes out to see how it is.

Yeah, I can't say i'm really angry about this since, like you said, we probably might not have it otherwise. Just a bit disappointed since this looks like the kind of Sonic game I was hoping Sonic Team would make and I might not get to play it.
This "controversy" reminds me how Just Dance (more specifically Just Dance 2023 Edition and onward) received controversy due to not being available on Xbox One and PS4 despite the game being released on Nintendo Switch which is the only platform supports more than one controller option, the Xbox Series version does not support the Kinect due to the Xbox Series consoles does not support the Kinect, PS5 version did not support PS Move or the PS4 Camera despite the PS5 being compatible with the PS Move and the PS4 Camera with the adapter, and the fact the game is online only though you can download up to 40 songs but your progress is online only. Oh, the numerous bugs and glitches which includes the Just Dance Version of Unlimited Colors bug reminiscent of Sonic Colors Ultimate, Lag when playing overtime at launch, disconnections of players during online multiplayer mode, a fake save file corruption bug, and of course, the many crashes. The bugs and glitches I've heard so far are only from the Nintendo Switch version and I can't say the PS5 and Xbox Series versions are perfect.
Not to mention the use of denuvo in Sonic Colors ultimate. Why? By the time they finally got the steam release. The storefront mentions the third party DRM by the name of denuvo for Sonic Colors ultimate. So Sonic team has finally screwed the pooch once more and make me trust less in them.
I initially thought hacking the arcade onto a foreign device might work and im sure someone already did that but i couldn't imagine how At least UA-cam has my back so i can see it if not play it and who knows? It might handle like garbage because thats just been mobile games in general of this kind 50% of the time

I think I might play Sonic Dream Team on all my Apple devices when it releases, looks really fun and I’m glad a somewhat-Sonic Adventure 3 does exist. Although, I’m not sure if the game will get ported to other platforms considering Hardlight primarily makes games for mobile devices (and before anyone says Dream Team is coming to Mac and Apple TV as well, Apple uses the same (if not similar) APIs and graphics library (or whatever else) for all of their devices, so Hardlight is still working with similar stuff as iPhones and iPads.). As for Apple Arcade, I did use it for a bit and have enjoyed some of the games I played using it, including Sonic Dash+ (replaced regular Sonic Dash for me while I had Arcade), Shovel Knight Dig, and The Survivalists. I stopped paying for it as Apple raised the price of Apple One (and I think they raised the price for Arcade again fairly recently). I was miffed that Apple locked the latest update for Stardew Valley behind a + version on Arcade (even though the normal version on mobile is paid with no ads) after I stopped paying for it. I’ll probably consider re-paying for it for Dream Team.

I am old and have no interest in gaming on a phone. I will play games on my 75 inch TV. I will play games on my 34" 240hz monitor on my PC. I'm not going to play games on my phone or tablet - regardless of apple vs android
I'd say look into getting a trial of Apple Arcade. If you've never used it before, it should give you a month for free. Just remember to cancel before that month is up.

Sega still has the trailers for ChuChu Rocket! Universe up, but the game's been gone for over a year. It's not common for game trailers for delisted games to disappear from the publisher's UA-cam channel.
After playing it x3, it’s underwhelming. Controls feel a little heavy and slightly stiff, levels aren’t that interesting, there’s not much movesets and they are underpowered as h.f.i.l and don’t feel good to control (gliding), and there’s a ton of automation with the rail-grinding. The bosses (first three) were neato, if the second one confuting. I know it’s a mobile game but I feel there could’ve been much more. For me, it’s a 6/10 at least.
Yeah, i can totally see why so many Sonic fans would be upset. Why not release the game on consoles rather than on the arcade part of the App Store. It’s just baffling.

To be frank i think gamers should stop to support the push for digital exclusive titel. They only do it because this gives them more control over the products they sell not to make it more convient for the customer. I think if you buy a product you really should own it and not be depended on the streaming service keeping it online.
I just grabbed a used Apple TV so I can play the game when it comes out, and to my surprise it is literally impossible to add friends on it without owning another Apple device. So it seems like I won't be able to play multiplayer unless I can get my hands on yet another expensive device. Probably gonna just get a cheap 6S with a broken screen for like $20 to get around that but still, really baffling anti-consumer practice there

We finally get a new Adventure game. Sonic games have been released on every possible platform for a very long time now. This is disgusting because they know this is a heavily demanded game by die hard fans. They know they will make several people jump into the Apple echo system just to play this.
I am no stranger to platform exclusivity . I am the opposer against this practice ever since the PSX360 era. Mostly the DLC. I usually think their third party exclusive as second nature and filler and also strong lewd fetish for PlayStation fanboys even to this day still got the hots for. Which is why going forward I never tolerate exclusivity deals. And it's coming from a guy who bought Monster Hunter Generations ultimate. I never liked platform exclusivity deals no matter what it is. Whatever it is a personal computer or a gaming console I don't support it. You know what else I don't support. The god forbidden denuvo anti-temperance not to mention with one game or two lock exclusively to just one platform it's going to sold less copies and have fewer players of the playerbase.
Make me want to bust out my nox. That will tell Sonic fans as well as the iOS and Macintosh fans to suck it up. If they don't have emulators. they can't access old games. Emulation is here to stay not to like Pirates.

Honestly and I know this is petty but my main issue is that it's specifically Apple. I hate Apple and their products therefore I refuse to invest time and money into their digital ecosystem simply to play a singular game that I in no way actually own especially when I know it would play better on any other device. I am glad for Apple product users that the game will be so easily discoverable there though. I imagine it'll lead to people playing the title that would have never seen it otherwise. I only hope that the game is able to be ported very soon because it does look really good.

I am no stranger to platform exclusivity . I am the opposer against this practice ever since the PSX360 era. Mostly the DLC. I usually think their third party exclusive as second nature and filler and also strong lewd fetish for PlayStation fanboys even to this day still got the hots for. Which is why going forward I never tolerate exclusivity deals. And it's coming from a guy who bought Monster Hunter Generations ultimate. I never liked platform exclusivity deals no matter what it is. Whatever it is a personal computer or a gaming console I don't support it. You know what else I don't support. The god forbidden denuvo anti-temperance not to mention with one game or two lock exclusively to just one platform it's going to sold less copies and have fewer players of the playerbase.
Make me want to bust out my nox. That will tell Sonic fans as well as the iOS and Macintosh fans to suck it up. If they don't have emulators. they can't access old games. Emulation is here to stay not to like Pirates.

Honestly and I know this is petty but my main issue is that it's specifically Apple. I hate Apple and their products therefore I refuse to invest time and money into their digital ecosystem simply to play a singular game that I in no way actually own especially when I know it would play better on any other device. I am glad for Apple product users that the game will be so easily discoverable there though. I imagine it'll lead to people playing the title that would have never seen it otherwise. I only hope that the game is able to be ported very soon because it does look really good.
I mean it's still mobile game but it's just a deal with apple don't get me wrong I'm android user too but i understand why this game only in apple arcade its a deal what do you expected that tbh i don't mind this game in iphone i mean this phone can handle re village and re 4 remake do you think capcom going to port in android i don't think so and again it's still a mobile game but with bigger budget game funding by apple itself with no ad and no app purchase tbh the game really looks good

I think Apple has safeguards in place for Apple Arcade games on iOS & iPadOS… so I don’t think jailbreaking would do anything…
I don't think I've seen much with preserving games through iOS jailbreaking. I remember it was a huge thing 10+ years ago, but not so much these days.

Yeah. I wish backwards compatibility with older apps was a thing on iOS. I would love to replay the X-Men arcade game or Guardian Saga again.

there is no way to run iOS on a virtual machine or any hardware that isn't an iPhone
I think they meant macOS. You can play most Apple Arcade games on a mac, if it's running the correct OS.
