- Kyle had an awesome opportunity to take the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo on a full day of trails just recently. While the full adventure video will be up on InsideEVs shortly, we wanted to show you guys what the Taycan is capable of when pushed pretty hard. Of course, there are and will be more capable EVs and vehicles on the market, but we are pumped about the electric future of Overlanding!

What an insanely fun adventure! I can’t wait to share the full trip with you on InsideEVs soon. It’s really impressive to see the capability of this car considering I just had one shredding around the Nürburgring just a week earlier! Truly a do-everything kind of car. What do you guys think, should I add a Taycan to the Out of Spec fleet?
Yes!
Excellent! Wonderful to see the versatile technology and hear your concise explanation of how it works.
Well, do you want a Taycan AND a Revel payment? :-)
I am so happy to see you're one of these car enthusiasts who also agrees " If you buy an " OFF ROAD" capable vehicle ,use it and take it off roading don't leave it in the driveway like some landscape ornament 🤣😅
In Toronto I see so many people driving AWD off road capable vehicles as if they're scared to get them dirty
I like this over the normal Taycan by far! And can't wait for the full EV Macan!
I suspect that when Porsche created a 'gravel mode' they had in mind someone going up some manicured gravel driveway between the tarmac road and your country house or your Swiss ski chalet or something. Not this !
Looks like we Germans have a different understanding of what gravel is. Everything's bigger in America.
I’ve got a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo with the off-road package on order. I can barely wait!
I’m wondering how the gravel mode will work in our New England winters in deep snow
Get it! That thing is insane. Taycan is 100% the best all-around EV out right now. Not the best at everything, but really good at most things. The CT is utilitarian and multi sport lol.
Only Kyle would try this! Great to watch from a city dweller in Shanghai! Keep up the great work
Reminds me of as a kid going camping with my dad and friends in our Ford Country Squire station wagon. With enough bodies and eyeballs you can get a "normal" vehicle into some crazy locations.
In the US Porsche's long rally history is little known. In the 1986 Paris Dakar race sixth place overall was a third 959 that was a support vehicle for the ones that placed 1st and 2nd. Maybe someday we can get out of Porsche what they consider "off road".
7:09. TFL HAD SIMILAR REACTIONS AND IM ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED STILL WITH THE SAAME REACTION. I want a jeep ev...but this. WHY .....I CANT SHUT UP IM AT a complete loss for words as to WHY people are being allowed to take a beast of the track off-road like this lol. It's mind-blowing and I think it's going to pave the way for other makers to design an off-road version of all their electric vehicles lol. I'm betting jeep development team has their jaw dropped to the floor if any of them see this and other video like this
The best off-roader electric vehicles will be the future trucks, with the Hummer EV being the best of them.
Wow...I can't imagine why anyone would take such a car off road, so that it could get hit by all kinds of rocks. But thanks for doing the video!
Sometimes the best views are off the paved roads
I wouldn't take my CT on rocky trails like that, but I do drive a lot on gravel and dirt roads and even off-road into fields, beaches, etc., and this really helps me a lot to see what this vehicle is capable of (in a good and surprising way). In other words, this video is helping me to choose the CT over, say, waiting for the BEV Macan to come out...
You've got some major cajones! I saw the sharp cliff on the left, and I froze just watching you drive up those rocks w/o breaking a sweat
This is the epitome of "can it do it" vs "should it do it".
what is the height clearance in the highest ride height?
Great video; thanks for thinking to make this one! I would very much like to hear exactly what the ground clearances are (all of the options) with the Offroad Package in the Cross Turismo; what Porsche provides is rather confusing and somewhat ambiguous. How fast can one drive at the highest ground clearance, and what exactly is that ground clearance, exactly? And how fast can one drive at the second-highest ground clearance, etc...
These wheels and tires certainly AREN'T from Porsche! Just look at the center of these wheels.
Porsche don't claim the Cross Turismo as full off-road vehicle at all.
does it have PPF? Even though is not my car, im worried about rocks chipping the paint.
Yes Porsche PPFd it in all the areas that matter
Impressive!
More than just cladding‼️
Gravel bike of cars :D Fast on all terrains
The interesting thing is that EVs don’t get affected by altitude whereas ICE do.
Makes me want to do that trail in a Rivian or Cybertruck!!
How about a Hummer EV?
damn it I have to buy this car! omg!!
2:22 what is that green laser dot?
The green dot is cased by a phenomenon called lens flare. It's caused by light reflecting off the lens. This happens in all cameras.
On a Porsche such as this one, the plastic cladding that is there to protect the paintwork is equally expensive as the paintwork. point noted, this is not designed to go off-road other than gravel
I like the taycan but you should defenitly wait for the Rivian R1S .
Would the model X do this?
This video will say no.

hi there is the color shown here superior red metallic please reply if you know thank you Kyle
(In the voice of Mr. Bill) Oh No!
The only thing I would go up that trail is a horse or a mountain goat.
“Am I a joke to you?” - $
Remember the Porsche 911 Dekur
Shame that the car is gigantic even after you save up for one. A smaller one that allows more comfortable parking in smaller parking spaces would be better.
Just get a truck or a jeep. The right tool for the right job. If you can afford a Porsche, you can afford a used Tacoma or wrangler.
For entertainment purposes this vid gets a like but it’s looks silly tbh I didn’t even hear the sticker price but Porsche is tryna finesse some people. The ground clearance is laughable on its face lol
I am 1m 93 so no Taycan for me ! Lucid on the other hand .....
I am 1m95 and I felt fine on a Taycan test drive - getting in and out was the only minor difficulty.
I don't belief you sir . Also the hight is terrible. But i understand it's a sportscar .
If you are the driver the Taycan is perfectly fine. In the back it could get a little bit cramped.
I'm 1m86, so I can get the Taycan, apparently. That being said, I'd get the regular Taycan over the Cross Turismo.
i dont think anyone will buy this for the purpose you have demonstrated here
Well I would agree; however, just like the 165mph top speed. Folks may not buy it to use it, but because it’s available and very capable.
Yes, but it’s all so pointless because it looks like you’re still driving a very expensive car, expensively slowly.
