My compliments to Jack, you are really nailing the intros💪🏼
I love that SG now has a relationship with Porsche. It's a perfect match given SG excellence and attention to technical details.
I own two Teslas and have driven my buddy’s Taycan Turbo S. I completely agree with everything you’ve said. What we need is Porsche to figure out the tech and Tesla to figure out the build quality. Then we’d have some amazing cars!
All it took for Jack to get excited about EVs was for Porsche to make one that costs $210,000 😂
Jokes aside, this video was fantastic as always and I learned things I never knew before about the Taycan, despite having watched countless other youtube videos on it. Never knew that Porsche sold the J1 platform to Audi and that the factories for the respective cars are totally different. The details about the drivetrain, transmission, and battery architecture are much appreciated, and I look forward to your guys' coverage of future EVs as the technology improves and we get more affordable options and performance cars.
The full engineering support from Porsche makes the Porsche content on this channel incredible. I wish other OEMs would give you guys the level of detail Porsche does.
Even if Savagegeese is last on the review, I feel like the other reviews before are "sneak peak" then Savagegeese drops the last review we will ever need to watch. If we're lucky we will get a video later from Henry Catchpole but those are very different, it's more about art, a beautiful piece, an ode to car craftsmanship and the car industry
I hate my neighbor for bringing this home as a loaner. The build and handling all make sense after watching this, such a well put together car. The screens are terrible and laggy, but then I stopped paying attention to them and enjoyed the drive. Some sacrifices must be made for such an amazing car. :)
Was gonna get my ex-wife one of these to win her back, but after watching this, I'm just gonna get her a bigger Hitachi. Thanks anyways, guys.
I know a guy selling pallets of factory refurbished magic wands from China if you want a wholesale price.
why they dont allow user to download their own fake engine sound lol llexus lfa
“Off-road variant” lol as if anyone is taking this anywhere CLOSE to a trail 😅
@@tipnoel Lol people buying a Taycan wouldn't be caught dead at Applebees.
The videography on your channel is insanely good. Transitions and music are so on point. Tech specs, overview and just the overall quality of your vids are just crazy good. Thanks again!
Love that left turn every time! Good piece guys.
As usual the classiest, most interesting and most educational video. I love the deep dives because they help me wrap my head around all the engineering that goes into these products (or in some cases - doesn't).
These deep dives are done like no other. Can't wait for the dedicated rear wheel drive review. Thx guys!
Been waiting ages for this video. Thank you.
Been waiting for a review from you guys from ages! So keen!
Friggen awesome video and so informative. Thank you guys for putting in killer work. This is highly appreciated.
Loved this one gentlemen, thanks for the hard work.
Honestly, I didn’t even watch other reviews of this car. I was waiting for the amazing technical review that only the goose can give.
Another very well-thought-out review of a car. You really make such fantastic, engaging content. Simply unparalleled. Thanks for sharing it with me.
Awesome stuff, guys! Great work as always! I think it’s so cool how Porsche has a wagon version of this thing. This one’s the one to get imo.
They do the same very well with the Panamera, but there in a couple of lengths to compete with the longer wheelbase versions of the other German makes. I think it is a bit silly and not sure who wants them. If you want to ride in the lap of German luxury, get an S-Clsss. A Porsche is for driving, not for being driven in.
$216,000 and you still have to pay more for decent audio
Maybe because most people driving these will have age-related bad hearing and couldn't tell the difference anyway. And/or they wouldn't listen to music at a high volume because they want to tour quietly.
I agree that is a lot of money! I think I rather have a Porsche GT4 naturally aspirated with plenty of options for 130 K and spend 15K on some high end Focal car components and a JL W6. Incredible car though, even if I had the money I could not justify 216,000 for this particular automobile. Good video by Savage Geese, Thumbs Up , I like to Dream after I watch the Porsche Videos, then I go hop in my Toyota Camry or Honda Accord and Go Back to work.
@@peasantlaborer6084 I read someone saying GT4 slurps fuel and he was not frequently driving it. When he got the Taycan, fuel was not a consideration which gave it a slight advantage. I guess it always a tradeoff :)
Always love all the technical info!
I really don't think it matters that you guys don't get these cars as early as some other reviewers because as most everyone knows, the amount you learn about any car, especially Porches, is best covered in a Savagegeese video.
Your right Porsche seems to be the only ‘german’ car stereotype. That actually cares somewhat about reliability.
It's the money, duh. Japan can utilize that wisely, too. USA maybe not so much, but that's to be expected.
What a nice way to begin the week! This channel is straight up artistic to me. That said, i absolutely hate all these screens on the interior. They are ugly, expensive, glitchy and doesn't age well. Plus, all these fingerprints are compromising my mental health.
Plus, who would actually want to let their passenger know how fast they are going, besides a rally driver?
I don't want to pay 100k plus for screens present in cars half the price. I prefer something tactile and distinctive, like Spyker. Let me feel the switchgear I paid for, not tap tap tap like a phone.
I've sat in the Audi E-Tron gt and thought I wouldn't like the interior of the taycan. but when I drove the taycan I think I like the taycan more. taycan is simple yet sophisticated and clean. and Etron seems to me a bit overwhelming
I think they really nailed the look on the Cross Turismo it's just perfection really
The Sport Wagon is also really nice too but for some reason I just like the Cross Turismo more idky
Absolutely loved this piece. You guys make me respect Porsche for what they build. BTW for some reason the Porsche wagons tickle my pickle! Thank you!
Thanks Jack! … learned allot from this one , Your the man
Amazing review! Always touching on the finer, and more relevant, points.
FINALLY! I hoped for this video like forever
I’ve been waiting for this video since the day I posted the one I drive on my IG and you commented on it about how awesome the green color is.
Spectacular video. I learned a lot. Thank you.
I feel at least in the US it’s important to talk about charging infrastructure and how it plays a role when purchasing an EV. The non-Tesla EVs have to use 3rd party charging networks that can be iffy at times and I’ve seen video after video of issues at these chargers (whether they are down for repairs, throttle charge speed, or just not working). With Tesla you truly don’t have that anxiety of range as not only are there more chargers they are always working and the cars NAV is always gonna tell you where a charger is, how many stalls are open, and the rate of charge, etc, plus, they are always working. My father was cross shopping with the taycan and went with the Tesla, because he just didn’t wanna worry about it.
Electrify America is owned by VAG, hence is first-party to Porsche. It may still be behind Tesla in terms of currently deployed charging stations... But given that every single non-Tesla model works with/at Electrify America, the writing is on the wall. So yes, today, Tesla still has a larger footprint, but over the next 12-24 months that's likely to change.
3rd-party charging networks are hobbling EV adoption. I get that there's not as much potential profit (yet) as gas/diesel sales, but it really feels like EVERY 3rd party charging network is some micky mouse fly-by-night operation.
Imaging needing to download and set up an app for every new gas station you go to, then half of them don't work anyway. As much as I hate to say this, it won't improve until some big corporate players get into this space.
This is really only a concern if you plan to drive long distances or if you don't have your own garage. Otherwise you charge your EV at home 99% of the time. I have a Tesla Model S and I rarely drive it far enough to require using a supercharger as I have other gas-powered cars that I would use on a long road trip. Having said that there are times where I might make multiple hour+ long drives in a day and I will use a supercharger, but there are enough 3rd party chargers that I wouldn't necessarily let that dissuade you (again assuming you have a garage which anyone who can afford a Taycan no doubt does)
Ah yes, the Tesla whataboutism because their false promises of range, performance, and self-driving are never happening and they now have competition from far superior cars in every segment. Two years into EV ownership, I have charged zero times at a DC charger. The infrastructure is getting better every day, there's a non-Tesla charging station across from every Supercharger along the interstates, and maybe Elon will open the Superchargers to everyone (expected at the same time as the release of the Cybertruck, the Roadster and Level 5 full self driving).
Considering big purchase point and cost to buy a telsa is their charging infrastructure. As soon as third party catches up or Tesla opens up use of their infrastructure you will quickly see a change in the marketplace.
Full engineering support, and you still (entirely rightly) shit on the screen-only cabin. Stunning, brave, and the sort of integrity I subscribe for
Love the videos
If I had enough money to go all-out on a family hauler for around town, the turismo (any variation) Taycan would be it. They look sweet style-wise, though the lack of knobs sucks. Only way to get my daughter to preschool in 2.5 seconds.
Loving the genuine response to acceleration @ 16:24
Incredible amounts of factual, fun to listen to, an educational information. In others words a typical savagegeese outstandingly excellent video. Nice that with the refreshed 2025 Taycan models, the laggy screens have been fixed, the range is now over 300 miles, its acceleration is faster (mainly due to more power), and its charging time is even faster than before, e.g., an ever better Porsche than the first generation. For these two super experienced car aficiandos to say it handles like a Porsche sports car, says it all.
Great video...full of technical detail and beautiful shots. Still zero interest in buying a blender.
ABBA Gold, haha. It was my pleasure to get punished in the shoppe segment! Thank you, gentlemen.
When I see this ride height, I think more about snow than I think about off road. Too bad you guys didn't have it in February
A Bose audio system in a $210 000 car? lol come on
The brand doesn't matter, so long as it is set up right.
There are many no name audio systems that beat JBL or Bose on some cars.
@@dragospahontu Exactly! I have heard people that have said the same about the Audi Soundsystem VS the more expensive B&O systems.
@@dragospahontu That is a very good point, the no name audio system in my Tesla sounds better than any system of my other cars which include a Jaguar F-Pace meridian system and Mercedes C class Burmester system
@@dragospahontu Anyone that would be hating probably never even heard the sound system themselves.
That blue is so good. And I'm not a fan of making cars look "off-roady" that aren't, but this is about the best it's been done.
This is my favorite Porsche channel. Let’s see the GReaty6 updates goose :)
"The Tesla is an EV vehicle that unfortunately happens to be a car" is a quote I will carry to my grave.
you sound cynical. but don't worry, have some of this leftover punch while we wait to board our spaceship and begin our journey to elonia...
Love this car for some reason. Just bought a lotto ticket so I'm sure I'll be able to order one next week. I only need to pick the color, and I'll have the traction for northern IL winters!
The Panamera wagon and this are the best looking wagons on the market today
Gorgeous car although I think I prefer the actual wagon version over the Cross Turismo. Still, I wouldn't kick either out of my driveway! Now I just need an extra $100-200k to actually afford one. 😆
A few blacked-out bits don't matter much to me. I do appreciate the greater ground clearance when needed.
Happy you both are getting the recognition you deserve from Jerry Seinfeld who noted he enjoys your thorough/technical content.
Thanks for a great review! Will you be testing the Taycan GTS at all? Doing that Turbo S, the base RWD and the GTS would be a fascinating deep dive into one of Porsche’s most popular car.
My neighbor the accountant just bought a new tesla model s so I'm gonna have to spring for the 10 piston carbon ceramic brakes. I sleep better at night knowing I have the best brakes on the block.
You guys should review used cars-1982 Chevy Chevette-1984 Ford Escort-cars actually people can afford-either your rich or poor-no in-between.
ABBA GOLD Greatest Hits!!! Got to Love that!!!
What a machine that few will ever experience. A real Tour De Force.
That dark brown interior screams old $$$ I love it
The average person drives 40 miles per day and charges nightly at home. Range is a non issue for the average person.
For me the 3rd reason for the estate Taycan is the most important:
Its good looking.
Std Taycan lacks the balance of proportions. Most importantly the rear overhang is too small, the rear axle is too far back (coz the battery pack).
I agree. I still dislike the front end with its crying clown headlights, but this version adds so much character, as well as making the car more useful. The standard car looks like a Panamera on a diet.
I disagree, from the mission E to the production version of the Taycan, the Taycan looks terrible.
That soundtrack tho 👌🏽
You guys are the best
I love this lads
Looking forward to the RWD review :)
Now that's a hot wagon.
But that price...
And the fact that EV's age faster than dog years.
Nah... you'd have to be mad, even if you have the 200k to burn.
You guys need to review a Lucid GT or Dream Edition. So curious to hear what you think.
Another great review. The quality in content that you guys deliver every time is admirable. You guys are the best. Hopefully you will do the BMW iX 50 soon. Would love to hear and see your take.
This is such an interesting comparison. The Mercedes Maybach video hits. 200k car and the price was such a sticking point for those 2. They get a taycan for the same money and it was glossed over. Especially when you compare that the tech was so much worse in the taycan. I guess the drive so much fun it didn't matter but it's still a car for a multi millionaire.
We got technical engineering support on this car so we tried to focus on that element. Its what porsche said their priority was with this car. So we left it up to the viewers to make up their minds on whether or not there is value. But i agree at 200k a ev like this is largely irrelevant. We wanted to establish a base line before we did the taycan rwd video as well
I like the idea that porsche is paying attention to driver nuances like the regenerative braking implementation. I'm also slowly adjusting to the idea that in the past I would save up for something really good, but in the future I will save up to pay for less annoying versions of things. Ah, technology!
I'm sure you guys have heard this, but your channel got very high praise from none other than Jerry Seinfeld on the Spike's Car Radio podcast from April 13. Nice!!!
Hopefully one day more people will understand there is more to a car than going in a straight line
nah, why actually think about stuff when you can just look at the hp and act like you know everything about the car?
See that ABBA still a music choice...noice😁
Wow! What a nice car! I hope it doesn't cost two-hunred and sixteen thousand dollars!
@16:25 IS GOLD!!!
This car is so complicated. The fact that it works and is reliable is a miracle.
My neighbour bought one 2months ago, it looks even better in real life, he also let me take a photo of it inside he had specd it the same colour as this but with tan interior
kind of my dream car
If there’s any consolation, the latest Taycans have upgraded infotainment hardware and software which improves responsiveness and refactors some of the menu madness that has plagued the car since launch. It’s not a revolution but it makes the system easier to live with.
It's an EV that doesn't drive like an EV. Thank you, Porsche ❤
Range, excitement, sound & charge time are big deficiencies for me. It will, however, be exciting to see what the big manufacturers do in the next 20 years.
i like at 17:29 how Jack's speed holds at 69. Nice.
Would like to see more everyday car, reviews.
Talking about 2 speeds transmissions. Mercedes announced that their next gen compact (EQA-EQC SUV and sedan) platform will have 800V and a 2 Speed gearbox across the range, starting in 2024/2025.
call me crazy, but with the Taycan Cross Turismo I think the model to get is the 4S. The Turbo S is obviously better but you get all the Porsche goodness in the 4S for a huge amount less money. The sacrifice is a bit of power but all 4WD Taycans are missiles 🚀
when Jack goes deep, it gonna be a good week!
That noise at 16:25 had me crying
I would love their resction from driving this and immediately jumping into a PT Cruiser for a drive.
You mention this cf to a Lucid & S Plaid. But I can't find your reviews of those. Are they coming or have you driven the cars but not enough to do a review? Thanks.
You guy’s should do something on Lucid
This car reminds me of a Citroen C6. It'll age as it did to I reckon.
What people don't understand about electric motors is that they do indeed have torque curves and efficiency curves as the RPM's climb. Electric motors currently have good **enough** torque over the whole RPM band that they can move the car, and due to having full torque at 0 rpm, can launch in regular street scenarios without needing a low gear. But the thing is, having a low and high gear allows for smaller motors, which means more efficiency. Sure EV's don't need 10 speed transmissions, but I could see electric vehicles having 2 speeds. 0-25 or foot to the floor is low gear, and everything above is high gear. This allows for getting the vehicle moving with a lot more torque, and then cruising with much more efficient gearing an RPMS. An electric car with a 250 mile range and 87% efficiency due to its one gear would go up to 267 at 93% efficient just by adding a second gear. A 6% thermal efficiency gain is something that ICE manufacturers would sell their souls for right now. But even in battery electric cars, getting the most amount of miles per unit of energy right now, by any means necessary, is the goal.
Tesla Model S is MUCH more efficient AND much MUCH more powerful, and all that without a stupid two speed transmission that Porsche use.
@james actually, no sir. Porsche two speed transmission is a crutch and needed due to their poor motor tech compared to Tesla
@@smartelectriccar So what do you know about the inner workings of electric motors in general. Lets remove automakers for a second. Just tell me how an electric water pump works

As you mentioned how everyone is 'concerned' about all EVs feeling the same. Two companies Porsche, as Lotus with Alpine (shared platform) are developing the EV Cayman and Type 135 respectively. These will be 'chest' battery designs that go behind the driver, to simulate a mid-engine weight distribution.
So in short, they should be a lot more fun, with a lot less practicality.
Chest battery means it should be about as practical as the ICE version, so a frunk for cargo space and a smaller cargo space in the rear.
Here's hoping anyway.
The chest battery is the way to go for sports cars. It gets the weight more densely to the mass centre and enables a lower car, meaning an overall better weight distribution and better aerodynamics. I think many more sporty cars will ditch the skateboard design in favor of a chest or cross battery placement.
@@k0zzu21 Curious, is cross having weight in all 4 corners, or essentially 4 mini-chests? I Imagine cooling would be a lot more complex with such a design, but perhaps air cooling behind wheel ducts could work. Are there any working examples of this design type?
@@PhonyBologna well optimally you would want the weight concentrated in the mass centre as densely as possible and the mass centre secondly as low as possible. So I would assume when taking the other limitations into account that the best solution would be to have a chest battery and a longitudinal row in the centre, kind of replacing the drivetrain tunnel in ice cars. This would keep the mass low and centered and allow a lower overall car with low seating position.
