*Modders* spent 9 years fixing the game. Bethesda dabbled with it from time to time, fixing some of the more obvious problems, then broke it AND all the mods at the same time.

Since the update, I have convinced that Bethesda's QA/QC team consisted of a redbull addict intern and a monkey.
They probably hired Oblivion NPCs for that job, and im not surprised if that is the case

I guess I just got lucky. For me on my PS5, the game is still running perfectly 26 hours later.

Bethesda needs a management change. They really don't know how to handle the scale of their company. Ever since they started to grow it started to go wrong for them.
They need to sell all their IPs and just go full pachinko manufacturer. I’m not even sure it’s possible to grasp the extent of their undeniable contempt and lack of concern for their fans and their product. It’s not cute anymore, and I hope Todd retires in shame. Unpaid modders can do in days what this billion dollar cash grab of a company can’t accomplish in a decade? Fans who are still drinking salt water at sea and telling themselves it’ll get better are more than half the problem.

I remember that video from like a week ago you had titled “Let them cook” as if they were actually gonna deliver us something good. How ironic that what actually happened is that they pretty much made the game WORSE which is an impressive feat in itself.

Can you imagine in a perfect world. Them dropping the next gen update that adds graphical enhancements and properly integrated CC content. And a dlc thats set a few years after the ending of the main story that shows the changes of the factions and integrates into the show including the departure/rebuilding of the Prydwyn

They didn't have a year to test it because they cooked the thing up last month.
I reinstalled the game 3 weeks before the update, Bethesda broke the DLCs update files to the point where Automatron caused "Hard Crash on Launch" if installed and the missing textures in the other DLCs were replaced with a bubblegum vomit the shade of Kremvh's fourth a$$hole.

So "we plan to make a next gen update in the future" translates to "we already made it and are testing it" to you?

At this point it’s so insanely frustrating dealing with bad launches, and even bad updates totally ruining games/franchises I love. I’m beginning to think this cycle will NEVER end. It drives me up the wall

I couldn't even make it through the intro. I got to SPECIAL selection and the HUD on my ultrawide setup was past the top of the screen. Couldn't name my character to continue.

Playing on Series X here. stutters, missing textures, and broken VATS - wild swings from 95 to 0 hit chance, and targeting enemies through walls - has been my recent experience.
The stuttering and skipping is making it basically unplayable on series x. With or without mods doesn’t even seem to fix the issue. The performance mode toggle also doesn’t do anything. You can barely see anything from at a distance as well
I'm glad I'm not alone I thought I was taking crazy pills. The stuttering and vats are driving me crazy .
I got about 40hrs in currently on the series s and it's crashes like every 2 hours. I've got weird artifact graphics with flames and lights amd have to restart the game if I want em to go away. Some frame dips as well and stuff falling through the environment a couple of times. All that being said, I'm still having fun with the game and the update lol
Yup, I keep on getting VATS through walls. & my graphics keep going crazy low
Currently on ps5 and about 35 hours into next-gen update.
Vats issues here as well, will have a 95% hit chance, tag 5-6 hits and only land 1-2 of them.
A few texture issues and flickering items.
Also after 35 hours and reaching level 45 i have still yet to have a single radstorm in my playthrough.
Also ran into a few issues with invisible walls blocking me from going into areas sometimes (most notably the entrance/secret wall to the railroad from the old north church)
What ticks me off the most is that this delays Fallout: London by at least another 6 Months... that expansion was ready to drop.
Not 6 months, more a month, 2 at max. They're just waiting on F4SE to do their stuff, and then FOLON has to do whatever changes on their end. But agreed with the anger, myself and everybody else in the Discord are beyond pissed off with Bethesda

Another thing that really annoys me with this update is on consoles it nuked my mods, I don't mean they're disabled or they don't work, my library was totally removed (with now no clue what my old load order was as you can only see a few mods at a time when loading an old save), some mods I can't even find anymore on the store even though they're on the web saying it's available still. And even though their stated reason for not increasing console mod space was that they didn't want to mess with people's load orders (they nuked our load orders and still only left us with 2GB of space).
Same thing happened for me on my PS4 pro. Had to reinstall everything, and my library was wiped as well as some of my favorite mods which I can't find any more. Sadly, my console did an auto update so I didn't have the choice to wait and see if it was buggy.

I just dont understand, how does Bethesda keep digging a bigger hole for themselves. It would have been better to cancel the next gen update then to release it in a state like this.

There is no way that he plays anything or watches anybody play something then says ‘yes, looks all good to me’ !! Especially after the disaster FO76 started out as!

I love how they were like ultrawide support! Yet the solution was to just stretch the UI... exactly like it was before the update. They didn't do anything with it.
Can confirm. Everything was stretched before on my new UW screen. It was totally playable, just looked bad. I haven't updated the game yet, will only do it for London eventually. But from what I've seen they haven't really fixed anything. Pathetic. Bethesda is a joke at this point. I used to love them, now they're dying a slow death like BioWare has been for nearly ten years.

The visual stuff I didn't encounter but dogmeat did get stuck early on but he teleports so it isnt game breaking but the load times are longer any tips about that?
We have Fallout London being delayed just for this crappy update. Bethesda Game Studio never ceases to disappoint its fans and that's disgraceful!

The invisible weight lifter has been in the game since launch, I recall seeing that many times. I believe it correlates when a settler leaves while you're gone and the benchpress was in use
The graphics corruption issue is being caused by "mirror fx" that you get as an orange overlay at the start up of a new game/character creation. It gets worse as you leave vault 111
The texture bug at the flooded quarry has been happening to me for years. Definitely not related to the new update.
I've seen it happen to other people on PC for several years now. I've never experienced it on Xbox.

Yes, it's called glitch-crete and there's a way to "fix" it too. have your crosshair pointed at the glitch-crete. Save and then go back in. In survival mode, just exit while your crosshair is pointed at the glitche-crete and go back in.

This is why I went straight to Fallout 3 which is transformed on Series X at 4K 60FPS and excellent. Having a blast.
I just knew that in 2024 this next gen update for FO4 was going to be a work in progress unfortunately, that would require a couple of months and patches to get it right. That’s just a reality of the industry right now let alone Bethesda with its history.
agreed, now i am currently playing FO4, but i delayed the update on PC and i just knew this update was going to be more of the same history bethesda are known for, and i honestly would rather play a stable game without issues and without all of my good mods from breaking.
yeah it's not the most stable but i'm also not the kind of person who falls for FOMO, that never is a thing with me, i would rather try something when it works instead of jumping on the new thing only to find that it's shit.
i'm convinced bethesda like many other game developer's, don't actually play test their games anymore, they more than likely have you the player play test their shit, so they turn the consumer who pays them to play their game at full fucking price, like a BETA TESTER, in my opinion this is false advertisement and is abuse of the customer's good will and trust in the product, and such things need to be outlawed.
The bench press bug has always been there. I've seen it for years. There is no npc on the bench. The bench is just going through the animation until you or someone else uses it.

Uninstalled all mods, verified all files on Steam and now doesn't even load to the menu. Worked fine before patch and now borked. Ty Todd :)
Probably need to nuke the install folder and redownload the whole thing. Also I think there are some .ini that need to be deleted.

Megaton was an inside job.
They could have saved 90% of the backlash by simply giving the F4SE team early access to update it so that mods could be updated as soon as this went live.
It wasn't just F4SE on PC that was broken. They completely broke the mod library on consoles (XBox in particular), and console players don't even have a nifty rollback mod to bring the game back to a playable version. In other words, PC wasn't the only platform impacted and early access wouldn't have prevented this shitshow for everyone.
Matty looking in good shape in this video! Also im playing pc and a bunch of my items are labelled lookup failed instead of their names. But beyond the constant reminder that Bethesda couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery, I am enjoying playing this game again properly and without mods for the first time since launch. I think after i over hyped myself for this game, I burned through the main quest and left it alone.
I’m actually a bit surprised because so far I’ve been playing over the last several days and I haven’t come across a single glitch yet.

I’ve had the invisible weightlifter and the flickering quarry for years, so those can’t be related to the update. It’s actually been running really smoothly for me on Series X. The load times are SO much better, even with the mod load maxed out. I really hope they can figure out a way to release patches without completely erasing the mods again. It’s such a pain to find them in the janky Xbox interface.
Being a huge mod user I learned from the horrific multiple upgrades of Skyrim SE to wait at minimum a month before upgrading. Wait till all of the patches, script extenders, other fixes are up and going. I love Bethesda for giving us their vision and tools to mod their more recent games since Morrowind (officially), yet it has been and will continue to be the mod authors who deliver excellence time and time again!!!!

I got the 0kb bug a few minutes ago and a pop up said i couldn't continue playing, but I still can and nothing seems to have changed, even Bethesda’s bugs are bugged...
its a beta bug i have the same issue, found that if i use NO creation club content i dont get the bug. to get rid of the CCC you have to delete the game and redownload it and avoid the CC store
My new game was Bugged from the get go, a Radroach not spawning in Vault 111 made me not to be able to exit combat mode and aquire the pip-boy wich you need to get out of the Vault, so i took a lap and it spawned
I used to get the 0 kb glitch on PS4. After this update, I was able to install ALL cc and play the game.
I've been playing on Xbox One for years because of this glitch.
I'm missing texture from the chinese stealth suit and the chrome color pip boys, I didn't even use mod. It has glitches all over, like bomb blowing up, but the flame doesn't animate at all.
I'm trying to disable the modds. It keeps crashing when I try to access the modds.
hello i need some help, iI use stealth boy , and now my character is transparent and it looks like it's made from dots, if i enter a power armor it goes transparent , its not like the stealth boy, it looks like you went in photoshop and and made it transparent . And wen i use my pipboy i can only use the wasd or the arrow keys not the mouse , whit the mouse i can only spin the weapons like im in inspect mode. in power armor i can use my pipboy normally................. how do i fix it , i play on survival and i dont have a save file before dis happent

Makeshift weapons is completely broken they're all invisible, all hallows eve cannot be started because mysterious signal is broken, there's flickering everywhere, frame rate drops like crazy.

I don’t understand how developers manage this they had the means to not release it until it was 100% ready I know people where asking for it but they had been so quiet about it for so long they could have just continued without saying anything

This. How they managed not to learn a thing from the Skyrim update disaster only to make the same mistake with the FO4 update (I actually think this one is worse) is sheer incompetence at every level of management.
It's now 60 to 90 seconds to load each time I'm getting in or out of a building, on a 10 years old game. It takes me 4.5 to load freaking Dead Space in Ultra. So I'm done I guest, thanks Bethesda

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I haven't had any serious issues yet on PS5. The worst thing I've seen is Dogmeat have some weird clipping issues when going through loading doors (standing halfway through a door or disappearing and spawning in a different area of the interior, etc.). Hasn't actually caused any serious graphical issues or gameplay issues.
Yeah same, I haven’t had any issues on the PS5 at all. It’s loading faster and lags less, especially in the downtown Boston area.

This doesnt change anything but, all the bugs shown in this video arent new and i have gotten every one at one point in time, the falling one is actually pretty common and the texture bug has to do with fast travelling. The unoffical patch doesnt even solve them but it still doesnt excuse that after all these years bethesda doesnt patch the issues in the next gen patch that are plaguing the game 9 years after release.
Some non game breaking bugs I've noticed on my completely vanilla unmodded Xbox are all the little desktop picture frames in the game are now blank. There used to be a mix of blank and intact pictures.
Blood covered skeletons and skulls are now missing their blood.
EZEfallout noticed the yellow rad barrels in front of C.I.T. ruins are now bare metal but still irradiate you. Random blue and red barrels throughout the commonwealth are also bare metal now.
OrangeSqueasy noticed the billboard right outside Vault 111 is blank now.
I've heard of a lot of other bugs but these are ones I've personally experienced on my game.
This patch was totally last minute. I wasn’t aware that this update was a year long wait.

@@Radek494with how lackluster the update really is, I'm starting to think it is last minute. They probably forgot to do it and once they remembered about it and the deadline is coming, they cobbled up whatever they thought would work and call it finished.

I have the goty edition and the next gen update deleted all of the dlcs. When i go to the libary it says i need to buy them again 😭 i really hope something fixes it
I'm getting the load time issue as well. Hopped back onto the game after 5 years or so and wasn't expecting that. A work around I've found is that if I alt tab out of the game and back in it loads instantly, but the caveat is that some times this creates a visual glitch that requires a restart to fix.
Load accelerator mod fixed this issue for me

I can’t even start a new game or load any saves with mods enabled other than my main save that already had the mods before the update, everytime i do the game just crashes and won’t let me start a new game unless I disable all mods

The texture bug at Thicket Excavation’s has been around for forever, It’s kinda rare but I’ve seen it quite a few times in my many many play through’s of FO4. It usually does that after you’ve completed draining the reservoir and you leave and come back to it full of raiders.
Quit out to main menu then reload save works for me everytime
Next gen update aside, i can't believe i let people convince me that Fallout 4 is a straight up bad game. I'm having a blast

It's not a bad game 'per se', but it is a bad rpg. You'll see the problems as you get into the game, at least if you're willing to admit there are problems and not just handwave them away.

The update deleted half the structures in my sanctuary settlement that I spent over 100 hours building. And didn’t give me back any of those furniture, armors or weapons I had on display that I collected over the course of my 300 hour play time. Can’t imaging playing it again any time soon after that even though it’s one of my favorite games.

The 3 minute loading screens have been there since launch for me on PC. I bought FO4 in 2015 and those have been there since the beginning. The real trajedy of this update, is that it disables mods. FO4 is a waste of time without mods.
Just rollback the update. Then use mods and settings for loafing screens, you'll have 3 sec loading not 3 min.
I THOUGHT SO!! I just commented that I downloaded the mod that unlocks the fps for the load screens. I knew it was like that before the update. Maybe it just got worse for some people.
Could say the same with every Fallout game from 3 onwards... even if you want a vanilla experience its just better to get fixes at least
@PanzerFist_T932 I can play the GOG version of FO3 without any of these issues. The loading screens in 3 are less than a second for me most of the time. FO4 is the only game that has ever given me long load times on my PC. Even Starfield which looks a million times better than FO4, has extremely fast load times of a second or 2 at most. Better pray you don't get the 3 minute load screen of death playing 4 without mods.

The worst part of this update is that it delayed Fallout London for no reason other than to make the game WORSE in many ways, especially on PC.
Has anyone solve the issue with the missing textures for the makeshift weapons mod?
The bug with the textures in the quarry isn't new, I've had that since day 1, to this day bethesda has just never fixed it. No idea what causes it because apparently most people's games don't have the issue, but when I finally downloaded the unofficial patch to fix the bugs in the game like 5 years after release or more, that's the only thing I've found that can fix it. It wasn't caused by the next gen update even though it's a disaster.
Same. Also, the weight lifting ghost is not new. Ive had it on my xbone for a while.

I play on xbox S version and it starts and goes to where it says please stand by then it completely closes the game and I have uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times and can't find any fixes anywhere on Google or UA-cam ect
Only issue I noticed on series x was a vats delay, you go into vats and it takes 1 or 2 seconds for the percentage hit chance to register, it was also show enemies through walls at 95% hit chance but will always miss.
Went back to fallout 4 for the next gen update specifically and honestly it's perfectly fine.. this version of fallout has me more hooked than what starfield ever will

Its running better than ever for me on xbox, maybe its just pc related?

Only issue i’ve gotten (on PC) is the quarry texture issues. Everything else, INCLUDING my mods is working perfectly fine

The biggest problem that I’ve always had with fallout 4 is the endlessly long loading screens, there’s moments when you’re going in and outside a lot and you’re just waiting all the fkng time instead of playing the game
Genuinely curious are most these on pc? I played through on ps5 and didn't experience too many issues. Other than vertibirds randomly flying in the ground lol

Playing on the ps5 too. It’s crash a handful of times, settlement bugs with npc’s wigging out and some of the visual bugs. Been spread out over 10-12 hours of gameplay over the past week. Which I thought was a bit funny cause launch fallout 4 in 2015 on ps4 ran without any problems for me. I got hit with the bad Bethesda roll of the dice this go around 😂

I always had trouble in downtown Boston. That's fixed. But now I crash in vats sometimes and other parts of the commonwealth trigger freezing... It just (barely) works.
I've had phantom weightlifters since Workshop launched. A few days after the latest update, the homing beacon for the relay station broadcasts stopped displaying.

@@lukewoodz2079 i lost all my supplies in one of the cc homes(the one by The Constitution ship)had no problem before their "fix" but now I crash to home screen on XboxSX. So yeah I'm "crying" about it. It's BS I can't access any of my junk or weapons. So you can keep licking their boots if you want.

Playing on PC with NG update, had to remove many mods that used FO4 script extentions (and probably wait until next Beth update before re-installing F4SE). I will say the one problem you showed in vid with the dog falling through the concrete (at Thicket Excavations) is because of load order conflicts. (They have to move mods around). The one annoying problem that happened with my updated NG game was that Codsworth the Robot was invisible. Could hear him talk but was invisible right at the start after character creation, was still invisible after leaving vault and trying to find him in Sanctuary. Deleted everything for FO4, performed new game install, verified install, no mods. Started new game no mods, still no Codsworth. Could hear him talk. Anyway, after playing FO4 for so long I knew where he should be and so finished his quest line with him invisible and was done with his quest and him.
(I have to say, in the 100's of hours playing FO4 I have never had this problem even with 100's of mods. This was the first time Codsworth was ghosted.. )
I will say Beth should of cleaned up all the DLC's and the creation club addon's of all bad edits and load order conflicts before the release (which would of took Beth a couple of hours to do). it appears someone at Beth just threw the update together and failed to actually test and then fix before release.
I was getting on PC the texture bug you see in the video at 4:55 in the quarry well before any announcement of a next-gen update.
I don't remember it being there on my play through using vanilla FO4 but then I only did the entire vanilla game once before I started modding things.
Hear me out, I think this was intentional. Since the release of the Fallout tv series and all the new traffic going to the games, they could profit more if it is all directed towards Fallout 76 since Fallout 4 was getting the most highest player active count out of all the games combined. Meaning, 76 getting new paid content while 4 stays broken until whenever they feel like releasing the new “update”. Bethesda being Bethesda. 🤑
Been playing hours every day. Been working great for me. A few crashes the first couple days but nothing lately.

I have over 2 days in the game with no mods ever added to the save but now after the update none of my saves load 99% of the time causing the game to crash on loading screen (Xbox series X)
that clip in ticket excavations where the textures are all blury and dogmeat walk through the floor is actually a bug that was present before the update and was already fixed by mods.
I started a new playthrough, No Mods .Yes the visuals and overall smoothness seems to be improved . But downton Boston still crashes at random
Almost every new addition , quest or item is broke or glitching . The further I progress through the vanila storyline , the worse it seems to get ,
New glitches , crashes and quirks are appearing where none was before
It's been very late , overlyhypeyed, poorly made , timed and executed and .....worst of all ....NOT Tested .
Strangely after i install photorealistic commonwealth mod my loading screen from 30 second to 45 second reduce to 5 second to 10 second
I'm playing on PS4. SOME of the update is fine. I'm having some glitches, sure, but the problem is the CC content. I paid for a LOT of it and had to uninstall most of it because it was buggy, glitchy, and useless. I downloaded the update and started feeling pissed off because they added CC content. I didn't know that was included. The CC content is part of the problem
My question is did anything address the downtown boston issue. I haven’t even bothered to download the update yet. The interesting thing about downtown boston is I have a save from when the game first released where my character is standing In front Faneuil Hall and there is no burning chairs bonfire. On this save I can run around all of downtown full speed with zero issues. Im not sure when it changed but this is the only save I have like this. All my other characters I started do have the bonfire and downtown is a frame rate and crashing mess…This is on xbox series s.
Bethesda needs to give the players the option to revert back to previous versions. They released a 14GB update that improved virtually nothing but broke all the mods on PC. Updates are supposed to improve their game not make it worse. This is beyond ridiculous.
I started a new save on my series x just for the update and when I got to diamond city is when I noticed frame drops and saw my first exclamation point I'm hoping they fix it I'll probably slug threw it anyway
I’m not experiencing a lot of bugs on PC. Maybe because I ignored Windows 11? Do we know how many PC bugs are happening on Win 11 vs Win 10 systems? My GPU is a Radeon. Is that a factor?
