As someone from WV who was attacked by wild turkeys as a kid I appreciate the inclusion of mutated turkeys to the game.
My little sister was attacked by a gaggle of menacing wild turkeys in NY like a decade ago. Those little bastards can really do some damage
My mother says she was stalked by a turkey as a child
How can something sound hilarious yet terrifying?
Real ones are surprisingly intelligent in a group. They will systematically corner your ass into a trap, kind of like veloceraptors
You are alive when they start to eat you, so I like to show a little respect
@@Hoppelite "a gaggle" is a description I never knew I needed to add to my vocabulary
Expansions > Expeditions by a freaking mile.
I'm so glad your interview confirmed Bethesda feels the same way.
Yeah, the expeditions were pretty fun but they’re just too short. I prefer the entertaining storyline.
I hope they expand to the western shore of the Ohio River. That entire wedge could be great. I’ve wandered beyond the map boundaries and the north, west, and east got some big potential. South east is a bit iffy, but there is a neat giant lake with an island in the middle
yeah fr thank god
Much better, feels more cohesive and it’s nice not having to fast travel around, it felt like the game was going down the starfield route in that sense until now
The only expedition I like was America's Playground due to the casinos and Jersey Devil.
Skyline Valley is a pleasant surprise. It feels like a mix of the Sierra madre & The Pitt. Every character was interesting and I’m excited for part 2. Only thing I didn’t like is some of the health bar glitches for enemies.
Part 2?
@@loudenswain6972 well the story ends in a bit of a cliffhanger & Todd Howard did say in the Matty interview that we’ll get more stories in the Skyline Valley DLC
If you have time, look up a build guide. Perk card loadouts are significant in 76.
I just picked up 76 the last couple days and it has been so fun, I can not believe this is the same game.
*drops 100 stims and 100 purified water* 😅
Same bro i started playing it after the last update, I pre ordered it and didnt play since launch. They did a good job fixing it
*Drops laser and Gamma Gun with 1000 ammo each*
I tried a few months ago and hated it, what's changed? 2 updates right?
@@greglyhoblit well if you don't like MMORPGs then you aren't gonna like it. But the free map expansion comes with a brand new questline and interesting region
The thing about this update is how it feels like actual “Fallout”. It feels like a proper DLC. Classic start of tracking down a radio call, then being sent to a brand new location.
Heading south into the storm of Skyline Valley for the first time is akin to entering Nuka World on the monorail, or getting off the boat at Point Lookout.
Everything in the valley feels fresh and unique. The ambience, enemies, location, lore, NPCs etc.
It’s packed content-wise, like Wastelanders. But the fact it’s in a huge new area really makes it feel like a proper expansion.
Hats off to Bethesda. Finally. Took some time, but this is the way forward for 76.
Annual expansions like this will do wonders for the game! 🙏
I agree its overall better than stuff they were adding before like expeditions.
But, only getting one small map expansion like Skyline Valley per year is a small amount of content for those who have already done everything. I dont see myself coming back for small updates/expeditions or slightly bigger expansions like Skyline Valley.
Repetitive grinding would continue to be what is left for the rest of the year with challenges and seasons. I just dont see a small area expansion once a year being that substantial for people that want new content instead of the grind. Especially regular players.
Not hating, just giving my perspective on the drip feed content. F76 has been out for over 5 years and the content has been sluggish and spread out across long dry periods of nothing to do. Thats why I stopped after I had done everything up to that point.
In my opinion, they should make a combo of expeditions and Skyline Valley. Let you travel to new maps expansions, but stay there and explore new groups, enemies, locations, etc.
Full expansions where you aren't as limited by West Virginia map and area concepts. Much more potential for content and stories that way. Especially since we probably wont get a full new Fallout for many years. They should start a new map and keep adding to it.
They could do both. 1-2 small expansions to the main map we have like Skyline Valley. And 1 bigger expansion per year in a new seperate map.
Idk. Just a different possibility.
@@castleclash2816 just to let you know they have already said they plan to add more to skyline valley
I'm all in wit 76 can't lie 😅
I started 76 around the time the show was out and I've been having a great time since!!
Ive been trying to get in to 76 since release. Made it up to level 65 and just tapped out. Wasnt really getting anything done but random exploring. Past 2 weeks i decided to actually pick it up and play as it was intended and been having a blasts. Last time i played was the wastelanders dlc and yesterday was my first time ever dropping a Nuke and finishing I am become death (Chinese stealth armor ftw). Im actually loving the game now and going to save skyline valley for last after I clean up all the quests i ignored. Glad its good.
I've been having the same problem. How have you been playing as intended that helped you enjoy the game?
@justinharvey8818 the best way I can describe it is , I was originally playing it like a standard Fallout game first and an mmo 2nd . Doing it this way , no matter my level or the level of the weapons I was using , I struggled. Approaching it like an mmo first with a fallout "skin" wrapped around it , you start to realize that all the things you probably deemed secondary in the older games are much more important. Things like worrying about builds , finding crafting material to mod weapons and gear , the importance of your special and perks , are all just as important than simply completing quests and leveling up.
I'm a solo player and I used to avoid public events , but now I go to every single one that pops up. There will always be a group of overpowered players participating to the point where if you're underleveled , just use events to loot bodies and get the free exp and more rare crafting material and loot. Guides on builds , perks , events and where to get rare crafting material help a lot.
@tygeta9851 thanks man I appreciate you. That's my problem. I was playing solo and it's my first fallout game. I'll give what you said a shot :)
@justinharvey8818 I would honestly say if you hit burnout or a "wall" play the single player games to get a true feel for Fallout. 3, New Vegas , Fallout 4 are California 9's while 76 is an Ohio 9. Good but not when you sit it next to the other ones 🤣😅
Came back last season after not playing since wastelanders. Really enjoying 76 again, didn’t play on release but I’ve always enjoyed this game. Skyline valley was great and can’t wait to play more as long as they keep adding to the game.
Great video Matty. Been watching for a long time now and you’re killing it
The new zone looks great, the new weapons are substantial and fun to use. I'm glad Bethesda is giving strong weapons as guaranteed quest rewards. It lets the newer players mess around with toys they might not normally use.
The main quest for the update was a bit short, but we should expect a Part 2 to fill things out a bit. Most importantly I got to make a base in the new zone at an apocalyptic ice cream stand. Excited for the future of this game!
This expansion made me come back to the game. So far I have enjoyed it. The only thing I wish they would do is bring the Nuclear Winter mode back. I miss that mode sooooooooo much.
Personally i like 76 it’s not bad Fallout game in my opinion (although i do understand why people don’t like it), i feel like it’s a step in the right direction for fallout and i hope to see things from 76 in fallout 5.
Its a great (mmoish) online service, but i still think its not a good fallout game. Same with Fallout 4, great action adventure game with suoerb exploration experience, but lacluster fallout rpg. Most of the (hardline) fans want a great rpg, and its just not there. Its sad, cause you can see the labour and love around the titles.
Any plans on doing a video on the Pillars of Eternity games going into Avowed whether on the main channel or Retro Rebound? I think you’d really enjoy them, they have great characters set in an interesting world with a large variety of possible character builds. I believe you’ve said in the past you’re skeptical to check them out after seeing the gameplay and watching the postmortems from Josh Sawyer where he talks about there flaws but they’re still great games (High 80s low 90s on metacritic).
I entered Skyline Valley with my hight level Raider character. Dr Zub. Donning a legendary Bloodstained heavy combat armor, and the Ghoul Mask. I was armed with an anti-armor flamer, an anti-armor flaming chainsaw, and a shit ton of grenades and mines. Explosive, Alcoholic / Wasteland Medic, Heavy Gunner build. I am having a blast so far! The enemies are tough, the story is great, and the world space is Awesomeness!
Btw, I loved your interview with Todd! Great Job Matty!
As a new player this game is amazing. It's everything you expect from a fallout game with the added depth of other real players going around their business, building camps, taking part in group events. There are so many main mission and side missions to do plus all the weapons and armour to find, craft and update. Great game
Those giant turkeys are no joke haha.
Speaking of radstorms one thing I love about 76 is being able to see weather events happening in the distance, I remember being at Fort Defiance overlooking Watoga and seeing a radstorm roll through the town.
I been playing since last season.. it’s been years since I played and I been hooked.. I am now level 200 after playing for about a month and I joined a Facebook group and I love this game more than ever… it’s really opened my eyes to my love for fallout again and it’s really been a good experience I am so happy you like it too Matty!!
matty the thumbnail bait king. they did it! its happened! bethesda is wild! xbox did something big!
THIS IS INSANE
This is high level shilling
High level shilling from the man that hated 76.
I'm interested how they said play as a ghoul because they were talking about it and talking about how you're going to have to manage your drugs and chem intake to not go feral just like in the shoe..Playing as a ghoul is a completely different experience because you have to manage your drugs and manage to actually stay alive it's not just playing with the different skin I enjoy that a different way to play
Don’t forget about how you have to manage your drugs
Ghouls never had to take chems to prevent going feral. What is this weird retcon?
@@stevovimy
Probably from tv show as "The Ghoul" takes drugs to keep it from progressing into feral.
Or maybe obscure lost lore?
Idk.
@@balaam_7087 also your chems
@stevovimy every game changes something about ghouls. It's "adding lore" or it's a "retcon" depending on how fixed you are on which game ghoul is exactly how you want ghouls to be.
Thanks for remaining objective Matty. Nice review, I just may have to dust off my pipboy and check out this expansion 👍🏾
Yes I agree with it all. Honestly man happy to see 76 still getting support and growing the base. Love the aesthetics, btw watched the entire convo with Todd Howard! What an interview, you are most deserving of it and can’t wait to see more in the future! Todd if you read this, let Matty interview you right before the next fallout game!!! PLEASE BETHSEDA GOD 😂🙏🏼
This might be where I jump in again. I stopped playing after I finished Wastelanders.
It’s a lot of fun now imo
Did the same. I’m enjoying it again.
I'll just stick with building my FO4 settlements over and over again
Another settlement needs your help
Yikes
Yikes
IMO. Vanilla camp building in 76 is a lot better than vanilla settlement building in 4. Of course there are no mods in 76 and you can go mod crazy in 4.
There’s a lot of good CAMP spots in Skyline Valley. One of my CAMPs is setup at the eastern side of the national park. It’s in the little island with the beaver dam. There’s also a guaranteed combat encounter of either blood eagles vs The Technician or Super Mutants vs Yao Guai so I can just watch them battle through binoculars.
I think the best think that they could do with Expeditions, is to convert them into an open world area like Nuka World or Far Harbor.
Take all of the Pitt areas and all of the Atlantic City areas, place them down on maps respectively, and fill in the open space with content.
They’re all fairly decent sized areas. It shouldn’t be too hard to turn it into fully fleshed out areas we can travel to and explore.
i loved the update, Hugo was such a well made and interesting character, he was complicated person which is my favourite type of character in fallout.
I absolutely never thought I would see a video with Matty telling people to redownload😂😂
Things I hope to see in future SV updates:
- Thrashers drop actual meat used for new recipes, instead of just intestines and random junk. These things are as tough as yao-guai and hunt in packs, it feels like a waste of ammo. Maybe a Thrasher Club Sandwich, Thrasher Pot Pie, Thrasher Burger, etc.
- Something to get rid of the storm; it's a nice novelty at first, but the perpetual darkness and thunderstorms get annoying after a bit.
- Rebuilding the park rangers, maybe they join the new Responders.
- Blue Ridge Caravan faction hub at the Trading Post; daily quests, repeatables, etc.
- Talking to our Overseer about all this. Another vault full of pre-war survivors, I feel like if anyone would want to know, it'd be her. Still waiting on her to rebuild Sutton like she said she would.
- More miscellaneous quests, dailies, events, etc.
- A workshop, maybe at the Gas Well.
- It's implied there's more underground bunker areas, two of note is one under Slumber Mills and another under Rapidan Camp.
UPDATE:
I didn't realize the 2 bunker areas I mentioned were cut content with the main story quest. Also I didn't realize the next update was teased this early, something to do with Blue Ridge Caravan it seems. Here's hoping my somewhat approximate knowledge of things to come is somewhat accurate.
The bunker under the Slumber Mill is another branch of Vault 63, I’m not sure if it’s stated what they do in that branch though, maybe another transit hub?
@@TheCODster16 I was looking it up because I couldn't remember the name of the Rapidan place, that's where I learned that both these areas were cut from the main quest for Vault 63. If I had to guess what they'd be for, maybe with Rapidan it'd have something to do with Oberlin, as it was affiliated with the US military, I've seen videos of people clipping into the place, frankly it looks like an Enclave bunker. As for Slumber Mill, iirc from what I read, it was supposed to be an Engineering Wing. There's also a supply crate those drones drop outside the motel, it can't be opened (at least I can't find the key), maybe that had something to do with it at some point.
It’s Fasnacht now dude. Gotta celebrate.
Love 76, didn’t get it at first but after coming back for the 3rd time a few months ago I’m obsessed. Cant wait for the enclave themed season in the fall.
Still no fallout 3 remaster
I hope they keep expanding the map I want to go up and explore the dusty mountains
Bring on the Ohio Expansion! I started F76 when Wastelanders launched. Steady Improvements since then. Almost 2000 levels later I am still playing. I take a couple of weeks off near the end of season but still keeping at it.
This isbmy favorite fallout and i went back to play 4 for the first time because of the comminity and being able to play with others and see their builds.
I would love a 4K update for PS5. It’s still stuck at 1440p from the Pro version.
It was a cool 45 min story. It could’ve been more. We all shut off the weather station but the weather is still the same.
45 min?! It took me a good 6-7 hours to get all the quests done. Yeah, that’s mixed in with a little exploring and such but still. Feels like it’s almost as long as a true DLC for fallout in my books
@@TheCODster16 no way it was even close to 6 hours. 2 hours? Yea if you took your time to read lore. Skyline valley is the same as wastelanders when it dropped. I was expecting more, maybe work with the forest service and the pioneer scouts and gain rep with dailies like the raiders and settlers. It’s just another blank dlc with 2 events.
The season change to allow CC swiping to finish the entire scoreboard really soured a lot of us seasonal players. Its good new content though for sure. Always enjoy some fallout story time!
I am done with FO76 because of this! I do love the story though!
@@BorgWolf359 Same I was heavy into it last season really had a lot going, near godroll railway, multiple very strong weapons, full bloodied build around lvl 170 iirc. Company tea machine, was getting my mutation recipes in order. And bam, scoreboard is pay to win too. Just made me kind wake up and realize what im playing.
Pay to win? Trust me most people do not buy the scoreboard as it would be very expensive. And if they did, I would see way more people with the new tent that you get at lvl 95 and I play everyday. I've only seen a couple. Besides this is a pve game and what you get by completing the scoreboard are *mostly* quality of life and cosmetics items for your camp. I say mostly because there are things like the Cremator that was on last season. But you'll eventually be able to buy that for gold (in game currency you basically get from completing events). i really suggest yall give this game another shot. Missing out on a great time. Cheers!
@@eldonb5131 I played enough of the expansion to get my fill. BGS, treats its player base incredibly poorly and put out beta test level products regularly. The cash shop becomes more and more predatory and utilizes FOMO to the utmost to alleviate your wallet of those precious dollars. For me, I’m done with that. But enjoy.
Who cares? Just do what you've been doing for the seasons? Why does someone else paying to get their season done affect u? There's pretty much no pvp in the game so doesn't affect others
Time to give fo76 the ESO experience, more players in each instance, and more map expansions
Interviews Todd, back on the Bethesda glaze steez. jokes aside, FO76 is definitely on the upswing. Hadnt play for almost a year and I'm back playing it.
The enemies in the new region is definitely alittle more tough and I like that.
Was a good update, not too little and not too much. Only complaint is I wish there were more stuff in the seasons page this go around but still a really good update. I’ll take the trade off for more areas plus enemies to discover.
We need more of this. The map has a huge part to the left and some on the far right. Let's get some more map to explore
Hey Matty! Have you considered making videos like this about ESO? I think it would be very interesting to see your opinion about the other Bethesda MMO.
Proper map extensions are inherently WAY better than a separate map, especially in a live service game. Like the new "islands" in GTAO are mostly lame. It just so happens that its not as big a deal in a single player game - but even then a map extension is way better.
Might just make a melee character to get around the spongey enemies. Sucks how much resources you have to dump into enemies in this game
(3500 hours - lvl 992 ) Eventually this is not an issue, once you understand the game ( perk cards, builds dialed in, how to easily craft ammo) and gain some levels (to unlock legendary perk cards). And when I started 3 yrs ago I didn't know anything and stumbled my way to lvl 70 as a melee. Once I decided to learn, the game became much easier. YT videos and reddit helped a lot.
They aren't really any different than the other enemies everything scales to level, the Western spirit isn't that great of a weapon. We also don't know his build, but at 37 hes not even running a full perk deck
Bruh its nit that hard to get into the game. You already get a bunch of weapons just playing through quests from varying weaponries. Just pick one, level up to 50 and start specializing in a playstyle. Leveling to 50 is like the easiest part too
Yeah I'm ngl I usually avoid the quests and play the game like a looter shooter. However this update nudged it in the direction of a classic fallout experience. Complex characters make the world come alive😂
I’m enjoying the heck out of 2024 Fallout 76, I remember walking out of Vault 76 and getting attacked by 5 wild dogs and no one around to help me. The laggy experience made me put the game down since release till just last month.
I beat it in a few hours then it was back to the same old boring Repetitive grind for the new scoreboard
Many of the world events are based AF and intense. The one with all the cultists in the Cranberry bog is is awesome. VATS GunFu shotgun headshots... so satisfying.
I cant believe theyve really turned this game around.
This is incredible to see.
Ive been playing and im hooked. If they keep doing map expansions the game will thrive.
I would like for them to add pet and companion followers for solo player and private worlds. Pets and companions are dismissed to the player's C.A.M.P. when they join a team . Other than that, I'd say that FO76 is my favorite Fallout so far .
I love how as soon as my Gamepass plan ends this new expansion drops.
Im glad they're doing cool stuff for the players, but nothing about 76 has managed to pique my interest so far.
Have you SEEN how wild WV turkeys act? No wonder the Thrasher is so tough.
that nuka rifle is my fave also lol
The story had a lot of potential but the way we got to interact with it was really lacklustre leading to a boring boss fight and a "Thanks, bye." with nothing much really resolved. It was a fairly short story even with some bits that felt like padding. The map was pretty tiny and had only 1 proper side quest and 1 non-boss event which wasn't overly interesting. HOWEVER the boss fight was pretty good and interesting keeping up the trend they've maintained of making each boss feel unique and they really did a fantastic job of the environmental storytelling and Easter eggs with the locations in the news map. I really enjoyed poking around A lot of these locations, Also the towers being used to scout locations was an interesting addition.
I’ve been reluctant to try 76 again. Maybe now is the time. If I’d launch on pc gamepass that is
I love your content and major congratulations on your interview with Todd Howard can you press him about a new game engine next time please it's the biggest thing holding all the games back has been in my opinion since Fallout 3 2008 we atleast need a 3rd person shoulder switch it's 2024 already
9:39 thats me
I’m here for fallout only lol love your content
Meh... Making me choose between siding with Electric Fried Hitler, lesbian communists, or ghoul Buzz Lightyear stuck in demo mode left me wanting to side against all of them and take over the weather station myself and turn it the eff off.
I wish it could just get an engine performance/ visual upgrade. I know that's a tall task but it would be swell.
I am the same with 76. I normally hop in here and then, but this update has actually been the best so far. The quests felt way more interesting, and I actually wanted to keep going. Instead of playing for the sake of it.
Personally it still isn’t clicking for me, and the 140 gb updates haven’t helped. But I’m glad to see it in a good state where ppl are enjoying it
I just wish I didn't have to pay $30 for a bundle just to get the redstorm weather machine
I liked SLV but it was way to short hope they add more to the area quick. I really do enjoy 76 but I feel like once you hit end game there isnt much to keep you interested
I played this on the PTS and whew, Bethesda needs to retcon the other "raid" vaults and give us more of these.
I never gave 76 a shot. Maybe one day but im starting the mass effect series rn so it might be awhile😊
The lost sound like G1 Starscream 😂
I was hoping for more but still a great update
ive been addicted to this game for 2 months, probably the best mmo ive ever played and i dont really like mmo’s
hopefully they go east and go to raven rock and or mount weather for the enclave cause thats all we need now
This game was a hidden gwm, i cant think of a single game that does all of the things it does and for free. ive been addicted for 3 months now, i only play this f**in game lol. i havent even touched the expansion
Idk. I finished the main quest in a couple hours. Not much different from Atlantic City. Nice that they added more camp slots though.
I want to play it did they increase the storage limits yet?
Hi Matt, community. I constantly replay fallout 4, i love it.
however, i have never, ever played fallout 76, or any multiplayer actually. im a single player guy. but nothing going on atm.
do ppl recommend diving into 76? any good videos for newbies who love fallout but know nothing bout multiplayer/f76 ?
peace !
thanks !!
It was good but very very short content
I bet its good . Unfortunately , My game crashed in the middle of the main quest and i cant proceed . I'm probably close to halfway through with it
If anyone who actually plays this game can help, I'm about to start playing 76 and would like to know how to get properly geared up and decent guides and news. Are there UA-camrs to search for or ones that cover the game I should avoid?
Angry Turtle for build help. Addiction gaming for season info and help
I love it but at the same time it’s more of the same for me. I played the beta and have been through hell like many of you but I believe more map expansions and bringing nuclear winter back is the way to go. I can’t deny though making endgame builds is addicting lol. That damage output you can have is wild 😂
I focused on trivial things and left out the important ones. There is a problem that still exists in the favorite wheel when changing weapons. It freezes during combat and cannot do anything. We tried to find out what the problem is, but to no avail. The problem exists so far. The company focused on things that no one cares about, just to silence some players, and you do not. You know what or what you are talking about. You just like to watch the game. If you were a fan of the game, you would have talked about this thing.
I still haven't bought 76. Not sure I'd enjoy it as much as a non- multi-player entry.
Would love a new map to fast travel to if possible I’m probably asking for a bit much but I feel it still lacks gameplay I keep going back after new updates then get bored after a week
Main story wise this update was great but the side questing and locations I thought were lacking…also no new weapons was a bummer too. I love fallout 76 and I enjoyed this update but it kinda disappointed me
It would be great if they add an actual story to 76.
The plot of the Scorched plague was pretty good
Let's Go Panthers
So the PVE is the best part. Almost like they should have just released a single player game without microtransactions.
I am 254 hours into the Game and i still can not do the Brotherhood of Steel and Astronaut questlines because they are bugged.
This is weird because I am usually a large enjoyer of FO76 updates while Matty is not, but I was super disappointed by Skyline Valley. The questline was a glorified fetch quest, the twist was good but other than that, the questline was lacking.
The actual map expansion is amazing though. I love the region and I know they’re planning on adding onto it in the future. I think I just set my expectations too high for the initial update.
I am level 400 with 650 hours in the game so I have some experience, I’m not hating just to hate.
Hey guys, I put 1k+ hours in FO4 but never touched FO76. Can I play FO76 without a single microtransaction, the same way like a single player FO4 game? Is there cool lore, environmental storytelling, intriguing characters..? Is it worth it playing solo?
Thanks in advance.
I comeback for every new update 😂😂
Matty I'm still celebrating my Florida Panthers winning the Cup sorry about your Rangers maybe next year🎉🎉🎉
I would play this game but I cant play for more than a hour without geting motion sickness
I don't think my problem with 76 is that the game was lacking at first and it felt pretty bare because I still had fun for the first little while and then they're not being much of a story at first kind of drowned me out. I think it's more of the type of game it is The MMO ask with a premium monthly payment and the $20 for skins. With a battle pass in a RPG style game. To me it just kind of gives me a better taste. Where PlayStation Plus used to be free Xbox live used to be free. Nintendo whatever used to be free. And now they find a way to charge you for every little thing and milk you dry while putting out semi-decent experiences. Then work out the kinks years later and make you pay for it the whole time. I don't know if that makes any sense or it's just me complaining but no matter how much better 76 gets that's always in the back of my mind that it just sets a precedent
Matty. "I can't believe it has been 6 years!" I reinstalled the game and game crashes at the shop and I say "I can't belive it has been 6 YEARS and they still haven't fixed this...."
I dropped D4 and FFXIV for this.
