The Ghouls run the country. Everything from the Queen to the Queen's Guard are ghouls. It's such a subtle but unique twist on the idea of ghouls. Sure some ghouls would want to use their immortality to just live life till they go feral, but others would want to take power forever.
Since Desmond on Point Lookout i always expected someone to take the Ghouls for what they really are, people with more than 100 year of experience, who have seen more than anyone and can tell more than anyone. People like that would certainly use it to their advantage
@@Fulcrox That's not how it works. Ghouls can't _chose_ to go feral or stay sentient. Some manage to stay sentient (and even those may later turn into nonsentient hungry monsters), most ghouls don't manage. We've seen in various games that ironically the radioactivity that can heal them can also speed up their brain tissue's degeneration. Yes, there were even a few Glowing Ones that were sentient, but they were the rare exception.
"Yet here it seems like it's completely 180." This is actually straight out of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, or rather the Call of Cthulhu RPG which combined the Mythos writings by Lovecraft and other authors. Fitting, since Fallout 4 is full of allusion's to Lovecraft's Mythos stories set in New England. Lovecraft's Ghouls are all sentient and are living beings (not undead) who feed on corpses, but who seem to be extremely long-lived, living at least for centuries. Cthulhu Mythos Ghouls were even closer related to humans than the Deep Ones: Humans who associated with Ghouls a lot (or practiced cannibalism) could turn into Ghouls; the story _Pickman's Models_ revealed that occasionally, Ghouls switched their rare offspring at birth for human babies, leaving the Ghoul baby to grow up looking like a human and believing themselves to be human (until later in life), while the human baby was raised by the Ghouls as one of their own and gradually transformed. Lovecraft's Ghouls know ways to travel between Earth's Dreamlands and Earth. They had tamed the flying Nightgaunts to serve as steeds and technically knew how to get to other places beyond Earth in the Dreamlands, even though they rarely ventured out into the Void to those other planets. Ghouls in North America and the Dreamlands lived a tribal low-tech almost Stone Age level lifestyle. (The Dreamer Randolph Carter and the transformed Ghoul Richard Upton Pickman in _The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath_ had to explain to a Dreamland Ghoul tribe what spears were used for, which the tribe then used with great enthusiasm on Moon Beasts. They also quickly learned how to steer a sailing ship.) Those on Earth usually dwelt in cemetaries, digging through the ground, and also in abandoned ancient cellars and in subway tunnels. In contrast, the Cthulhu Mythos Ghouls in Europe and Great Britain lived disguised among humans and used their technology (at least in stories set in the 1920s). But those European Ghouls were written by contemporaries of Lovecraft (as he and writers from his circle of friends and pen pals often collaborated on stories, writing stories in each other's universes) and epigones like August Derleth and later generations of writers who did their own spin on the Cthulhu Mythos.

Honestly I like the looks of the Tommies. They seem like decent folk that want to do some good but are held back by the circumstances they find themselves in.
It seems like a faction that is on the fence, protecting both the corrupt elite, and the common folk, and they just need that one push to fall in either direction
Their leader seems like a funny reference to Sir Douglas Haig, who, despite being a total moron, miraculously didn't manage to fuck up the victory for the UK during WWI. Like the faction name suggests, they're not in charge of the situation they're in.
Remind me of the Minutemen. Just ahrd working farmers willing to protect their friends, families and Neighbours for they lack in equipment they deal in duty.
Same here. I'd hope we as the player have the option to join the Tommies, pit them against the Gentry and hopefully bring both the 5th Column and Camelot into the fold in an alliance.
This actually looks pretty good. The idea of blending fallout with european fantasy is something id never ever even considered but would whole heartedly welcome. The idea of doing a mini Beowulf themed quest where you hunt down and kill a super mutant named Grendal instantly comes to mind. This could be pretty awesome tbh.

As an American, I definitely have an appreciation for games outside of my country. Hell gate London was an incredible game I was hoping they would make more. This looks like it can be a stand-alone by itself
One thing that I find really cool about this mod is the fact that originally the creator of fallout did want to make a game based in Europe during the resource wars where you play as a group of British soldiers stuck in mainland Europe trying to get home to Britian. I think this is gonna be a great homage and it can show Bethesda the amazing possibilities of a fallout setting set outside of America for once. I am super excited about this mod.
Funnily enough I'd say one set in Indochina would be good too! Perhaps throw in some actual friggen magic in somehow... like a 'ghoulified' Eastern style dragon.
I think a fallout game set in China would be cool, it’d be interesting to see the other side of the resource wars, although I doubt Bethesda would do so as to not kick the hornets nest that is modern Chinese politics.

I like the idea of the Camelot faction using medieval armor; it reminds me of a Fallout cosplay idea that I had involving a partial suit of armor, a gas mask, and a beret.
I agree with the Camelot armour thing, I won’t lie tho, I hope if you join them and get to the highest rank you can achieve, they’ll give you a knight themed power armour. Out of all the factions I feel it makes the most sense and I always go with power armour in any Fallout game I play.
Power armor shouldn't be a thing in this baring maybe a 1 off. The first suits were made by the USA during the war with china after eroupe had already colapsed. American suits and maybe some early stage Chinese prototype should be all that exists. If power armor shows up it would lore wise have to be an american suit that somehow got across the ocean or maybe some incomplete prototype british design that never saw deployment
@@vonfaustien3957 I see what you mean, still as you said their may have been an American ship with a power armour that might have been sent to salvage resources, attack or assist as through our history we have had quite close relations. You can't join them, but it seems you can ally with them, perhaps you can influence the Gentry to change their goals, or the Tommies to abandon the Gentry and truly fight for the good of London
@@ntfoperative9432 I want to join Camelot, but just the very WORD 'republic' when referring to Britain makes me want to retch and peel off my skin for how it makes me feel like there's centipedes under it. I really hope Angel isn’t just the Institute. Angel gives me Mr. House vibes so hopefully the devs are taking inspiration from the better games in the series. All in all this looks really promising and I’m hoping for the best to get some great content for this game.
I'm hoping so too. I find it reminiscent of the Prisoner above all else. Specifically, the forces behind the Village. The kind of authoritarian rule designed to exploit the "KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON" virtue of English culture.

I’m so happy they are doing it in the style of Fallout New Vegas with the factions. Where each are joinable and your choices effect the outcome so much. I love all the gray areas. I'm subscribing to these guys right now whatever help I can give I'll give to them we need a good fallout mod that completely turns fallout 4 on it's head in a good way
I wonder if the mod will provide some (fanmade) backstory for British-guy-in-exile Proctor Quinlan of the Brotherhood of Steel (Commonwealth/New England chapter), who in Fallout 4 lived on the Brotherhood's airship the Prydwen. Not only did Quinlan maintain the Prydwen's technology -- and may have helped build the airship at Adams Air Force Base? -- he was also their archivist and scribe, and obsessed with old superhero comics. Quinlan also had knowledge of genetics, as he was the one who analysed the Institute samples and uncovered that Paladin Danse had been replaced with a Synth by the Institute. Quinlan also had a cat... one of only two cats in Fallout 4, which led me to suspect the cat was also a synth-animal the Institute used to spy on the Prydwen. (There were hints throughout F4 that many of the animals in and around Boston were synths the Institute used as spies to look through their eyes, for example the ravens around Vault 111 and Sanctuary and those at Diamond City, as a room inside the Institute had a wall of monitors that showed these locales from angles that means the "camera" must be high up or in trees.) And while Proctor Ingram as engineer helmed the project to rebuild Liberty Prime, Quinlan was also down there defending the Boston airport and Liberty Prime if the Institute attacked the robot.
Is Chill Winston's name supposed to be a reference to Winston, Rory Breaker's pot grower, in "Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels," if so THAT'S AWESOME, because I LOVE THAT MOVIE, and THAT MADE MY DAY.
The guy Arthurian legend was likely based on was a soldier named Artorius. I kind of hope they change the name both as a Dark Souls reference and as a nod to the guy King Arthur was based on.
Arthur, Artorius, Artur its thought that the real life Arthur is actually just a mix of Brythonic/Romano-Briton leaders that were successful against the invading Anglo-Saxons [English]
My thoughts on the factions: 1. The Gentry: I love this faction and the concept behind it. The British monarchy surviving beyond the Apocalypse and their decrepit rule still extending into post-apocalypse is something I'm very excited to see. The Queen and Prince Charles seem like interesting characters and I'd like to see them executed well in the game. A bit of humour but not being over-the-top. In addition, while I hate hereditary power structures, I'd be very interested if the Gentries were able to make a logical claim for why the monarchy should be in-charge. Think Caesar's Legion from Fallout New Vegas. 2. The Tommies: I'll be honest, my feelings are mixed on this one. It seems like the "do-gooder" faction without any goals of their own, beside the nebulous and vague goal of "helping people" and very little depth. The Top Brass of the faction being manipulated by the Gentry COULD be interesting to see, i.e. how they resolve the issue of people in power trying to turn them into methods of violence for the state. I'd be much happier if their individual goals (Beyond "helping people") are fleshed out more. Less Minutemen and more NCR. Also where did they find so much WW1 gear and in such great shape ? I'd be much happier with their aesthetic if their armor was a patchwork of soldier uniforms from various time periods, as that would make sense in a post-apocalyptic setting where you have to scavenge to get by. 3. Camelot: Again, I've got mixed feelings about this one. While medieval knights fighting mutants sounds COOL AS ALL HELL, I really hope that's not all there is to Camelot and that they get more substance. Also, I hope the mod devs are able to make sense why medieval armor is doing well in a setting where bullets exist. Perhaps Camelot exclusively fights monsters ? I really hope that "medieval knights in Power Armor isn't ALL that there is to Camelot. 4. The 5th Column (Missed opportunity to place it at 5th place): Even before I knew of it more, the name alone gave my very "fascist" vibes, and statements like "rebuild an empire from the ashes" and "burning the world down to rebuild it in our image" only reinforce those vibes. The leader of the faction is also described as having "a cult of personality". I love it. The mod devs could tell a very interesting story about how fascist leaders use populist movements to gain power, and its consequences. Eva Yani's ascent could mirror the rise to power of figures such as Mussolini and Hitler. This could be incredible if handled correctly. 5. The Isle of Dogs: I don't really have much to say about this one. Sounds like a raider faction i.e. obvious baddies. Would be great if they had more complexity. Avoid becoming like the Talon Merc Company in Fallout 3. 6. The Vagabonds: They seem like a stylistic choice first and foremost. That's not always a bad thing. The Kings are one of the most interesting factions in Fallout New Vegas and they're just a bunch of Elvis Presley impersonators. However, their establishment makes logical sense in the world of FNV. I hope the Vagabonds are the same. Perhaps the leader saw a Pre-War copy of Peaky Blinders (Or the Fallout universe equivalent) and decided to imitate them because he thought they were real. It'd also be great if their goals were distinguished from the Isle of Dogs i.e. becoming London's premier crime syndicate. 7. Angel: Secretive and scientifically genius masterminds with motives shrouded in mystery ? I really hope they turn out like The Master in Fallout 1 and not the Institute. Final Thoughts: I'm excited. The mod is obviously very ambitious and seems like a labour of love. I support the devs in their journey. They have a lot of really cool and interesting ideas and I hope they're able to execute those ideas to the degree of perfection they deserve.
I like that all the factions seem to have their merits, even the 5th Column, unlike Fallout 4 where you just had to swallow your common sense and pick the least idiotic out of the idiots.

Nah. Keep it in America. You’re just gonna tank what fallout is

I like the idea of the Camelot faction using medieval armor; it reminds me of a Fallout cosplay idea that I had involving a partial suit of armor, a gas mask, and a beret.
Love how the iod syndicate is essentially just post-apocalyptic peaky blinders

(There were hints throughout F4 that many of the animals in and around Boston were synths the Institute used as spies to look through their eyes, for example the ravens around Vault 111 and Sanctuary and those at Diamond City, as a room inside the Institute had a wall of monitors that showed these locales from angles that means the "camera" must be high up or in trees.)
And while Proctor Ingram as engineer helmed the project to rebuild Liberty Prime, Quinlan was also down there defending the Boston airport and Liberty Prime if the Institute attacked the robot.
That explains why I sometimes find ravens that are frozen in place. They're synths that have crashed.
I doubt the Queen is gonna be in it now 😂

May the queen rest in peace.
All factions seems really interesting! Probably will go for Camelot or 5th column first.
Amazing to see there is a game mod which accurately portrays London.
My thoughts on the factions:
2:18 Oof that didn't age well
Pretty funny though
It wasn't exactly in good taste to begin with
Can't play for five minutes without crashing but my hour of play over the past four days has been great!
you need a couple of mods! specifically buffout 4 and faster load times, i fixed my game pretty quickly
@@thebigdogg2866 the x-cell folon config reduces crashes to 0 for me, until i get the unofficial fixes mod with navmesh fixes, that gives a fata error crash in 2-3 hours
The moment I saw the 5th column logo, I knew exactly what direction that faction was going.
