    As a veteran of the games industry I 100% agree with your critique of the ARX store. There are so many untapped avenues for recurring/added revenue that FDev are letting pass them by! As long as we don't go down the loot-box rabbit hole, its a perfectly legitimate way to provide sustaining funds that could be used to employ more writers, artists, and engineers to make the Elite galaxy feel more alive with content and gameplay loops. There is a flywheel-effect that could be spun up, and they're missing out on it.
    ISTM that FDev as a business still thinks mostly in terms of boxed-product releases - counting on big expansions like Horizons and Odyssey to provide critical income from the franchise. But that can lead to a "boom and bust" cycle within the organization where big pressure (and reasonable investment) is put on those expansions - and then human/capital resources are withheld from the game between releases since the live-service efforts are viewed more as "life support" to get to the next big expansion.
    Doing live-services well is *hard*. It takes strong organization and dedicated project management to properly scope milestones/releases, ensure regular delivery of content, and test new ideas to make sure they will actually be compelling gameplay loops. But even though Elite doesn't have the mass-appeal of something like Destiny, it has the kind of hardcore following that is willing to regularly spend incremental cash - provided said expenses appear to support actual evolutions of the story and gameplay.

      I think the biggest problem is Elite and may be Frontier itself given the huge number of projects it now supporting, doesn't have the resources for two teams. one day to day team that work on story and ARX store content and a long term team that work on building new game features.
      I can't believe they would have built the carriers and interiors and not having ARX modifications capabilities built into them from Day 1, I just think they haven't got around to creating new content to sale on the store yet.

    I would spend SO MUCH more time in my ready room on board my carrier if I could customize it to that level of detail! Like you said, I understand that would take a fair amount of development so I wouldn't expect it all available right away or that it would arrive this year.

      I would lovely put my explored plants on to some taxerdermy podests at my Carrier. That would the only Thing for me to Go exploring.... Otherwise... I would buy Things at the arx store too, for looking my Carrier personaliest and unique.

      What I would like the most about FC is that it would be more personal to the owner. Everytime I return to my FC, it doesn't feel like it actually belongs to me. I get the same response that I get when I land on any other FC, nothing to state that this FC is mine and I am the captain. Of course, being able to customized the courters would be also a plus, but honestly, I don't spend time just sitting in there to enjoy it. I'm always out and about. 😂🤣😂🤣

    One very specific change I would like to see to the ship engineering system is to reduce the cost of trading right, upwards, or downwards on the material trader's chart to 3 from 6.
    At present, players are dependent on finding sources of class 5 materials as anything else rapidly devalues as you go left on the chart.
    I would like the other sources of materials one finds in the game (scanning ships, jump wakes, and installation terminals for example) to be of more value so that one can more easily find what they need as they explore all the various gameplay loops found in Elite.

    Racing in Elite was always one of my top picks for something that should have always been in Elite to begin with.
    Would it really be so hard for them to manually alter terrain on a few planets or asteroid belts to allow even the most basic of racecourses?
    I'd love to see what they could offer if they put of reasonable amount of effort in.
    In future, player owned planets that could be shaped at will to allow racecourse creation would be even better.

      There's all ready some planet terrain we can use for racing. All that is needed is an in-game system to log times and leaderboards, or something.

      @@aitoluxd But then you need a way put down those markers, how long do those markers stay, then you need a way to store those markets, share them with players. Then a team to vet the placement of those markers, or otherwise we will en up with a few million dick shape tracks or breast shape tracks. Will they show up on maps or not. Will they automatically show up in the galaxy map, do you have a seperate filter galaxy map for them, will you allow invite only tracks, so on an so forth,

    The biggest problem at the moment is that within the context of the Thargoid war, there’s no reason whatsoever to engage with Odyssey content. If they do indeed add on-foot Thargoid combat, they would have to make it engaging, because on-foot combat as it currently stands is bullet-sponge arse. If the Thargoids are also bullet-spongy enemies, then few will engage with it.

      The 90s gameplay is not going away. I think when thargoid ground combat finally drops, they're going to be few in number and massive bullet-sponges. Really boring boss fights, essentially.

    I think we should have salvage / repair missions on either megaships or even outposts. Elite's real unique feature is fly somewhere and hop out. Being able to explore and work in a derelict ship would be awesome. They could eventually add the ability to perform repairs on your ship's hull and power plant from outside.
    As far as Arx goes, I think various powerplay or superpower uniforms would be very desirable. You could have the insignia unlock as you rank up, but the uniform itself is bought with Arx. You could also have superpower paint jobs, along with Fuel Rats and other FDev acknowledged factions. I like your idea of rescue ship kits / paint jobs - it really seems like a natural fit.

    Definetely would like new things in arx store, i woud like to see modular carrier exterriors, even additional exterrrior modules like additional cargo racks, new modules etc. Id’ love to see some advanced astronomy module that could at least partially scan neighbouring systems. Also id’ love to see exobiology being usable for something like collecting materials for new engineering (both ship and on foot).

    Definitely want more out of the ARX store. Ships need more "serious" paint jobs in my opinion like the squadron, operative and anubis/pharaoh variants. Ship variants need many more options. For example the Alliance Chieftain has a ton of available paints but its Challenger and Crusader brothers have barely anything above the three basic color variants (military, vibrant and the other I can't think of at the moment).
    Commander livery clothing used to provide six color variants per purchase, which was a great value. The variants released after Odyssey give only three and are generally more expensive than their Horizons counterparts.
    And, can we PLEASE get weapon fire color variants for on-foot weapons this year?

      I'd like more ship kit variants that are modular and allow us to make our ships look more unique. Obviously there'd be a limit to this and lots of folk would still have the same ship kits but I think we definitely need more variation. I don't want new ships just ways of making my ships look more unique.

    Come on Buur, be fair the entire 2022 updates (4, I Think??) have been Thargoid based. If you want to keep ALL CMDRS in the game, thus keeping F-Dev developing the game, then they MUST think of us Cmdrs who have not the slightest interest in fight Bugs. Give us better more diverse missions, Get Powerplay working again (Did it ever work, but wat a great Idea it is), base building.
    You can't keep going in one direction, that will end this great game.

    Things Id like to see:
    Fix the mission payouts of the station NPCs. None of them are worth doing or offer anything unique compared to the general station job boards you can pick from the seat of your ship.
    The body kits need overhauling and some thought put into them. Bland and uninteresting.
    Mini in game of manual ship repairs of modules and panels of your ship.
    Unique cockpit UI interlace for each model of ship.
    Lighting changes in cockpit when in combat. Lighting changes in cockpit when in silent running.
    The side UI panels need to be moved to overhead position in the cockpit.
    Visual changes to ships and weapons when they are engineered, including unique dashboard icons showing in the cockpit. - possible monetized option
    Weapon upgrades should also show a visual change. - possible monetized option
    A mid sized version of the carriers ( a frigate or cruiser class) for solo players who wish to do deep exploration.
    Ranking badges or logos displayed on uniforms.
    NPC, XENOS or PVP kills generated & displayed on our ships or in our cockpits.
    Additional audio added - Hear the faint sound of slaves or rescued people coming from the cargo hold in flight.
    catchphrases or expressions from the player character when he succeeds a mission or in battle concerns when in trouble as a cue to the player. eg missle lock - "aw crap" Hull intergrity at 50% -"that's not good", shields offline - "persistent aint ya?" warning heat -"cmon baby hold together" etc etc

    I've been saying *for years* that Elite is under-monetizing their cosmetics, which is something I thought I would never say about a game. When I first started collecting ship kits in 2017, I never would have imagined that we'd be here, 6 years later, with several ships that still haven't gotten a standard ship kit (some of the faction-specific medium ships, the Imperial Eagle, Type 7, Type 9, for instance, though the latter finally got one of the alternate style kits very recently). I thought by now they'd all have 4 or 5 kits to mix-and-match parts from. And you're absolutely right on the carrier customization.

    Thank you for the video and happy new year to you all @The Burr Pit! Very well thought out and presented, as always. To mention a few things I'd like to see, relating to what you covered:
    Racing: I'd love to see racing added - possibly even as a CQC mode to re-ignite focus in that area.
    Carriers: Yeah, fleet carriers really could use a lot more customisation. I'd pay anything to jazz mine up more!
    Thargoids: Totally agree! I hope to see ground combat with them this year o7.
    ARX Store: I've waited years for the golden fleet carrier (and Taipan) but not still not seeing them recently in the festive sale was a disappointment. For some reason, Frontier have neglected those two for years. It's a shame to not have the matching colour scheme for the carrier as all of my vehicles and outfits are that colour. I hope 2023 brings some attention to that area including Odyssey paintjobs. For weapons, half the items have one style and the other weapons have the different style. Why not just have the two parent sets for all, at least? E.G. It's currently impossible to get matching suits with certain weapons. Also, it'd be great to see some more colours for base suits.
    It'd be great to see more advertising for Elite in RL, plus Frontier shining a spotlight on their 3rd party tool makers like EDDI, INARA, EDHM, EDSM, EDD etc and their epic content creators like yourself :D. On the launcher and/or main menu could be ideal places.
    I hope Frontier might one day, add EDDI functionality to Elite Dangerous and maybe even work with them to do that... There's so much info in our journal files which EDDI lets you know about (plus working with VA, EDSM and the Frontier API) . I never load Elite without that and EDHM running :D (literally)

    One thing I'd predict would be a community goal that requires doing something on foot. If there was anything I'd guess some exobiology thing about scanning plants to find something to kill the thargoids.

    I have said this at pretty much every update after Odyssey. Keep your expectations low... and we would not see on-foot Thargoids in update 14. Elite has a very small dev team and a relatively small player base. Take the game for what it is, not for what it could be and people won't feel let down so often.

    A "Beacon limpet" might be a option for races, life span would probably need to be between 2-24 hours. Perhaps something like 20-50 limpets can be active per controller.

    Personally, I don't give a toss about the arx store, and fleet carriers, although I can afford one, just aren't my thing. I've used arx earned in game to get a few cosmetics because it was there. I've been a dedicated solo player right back to the beginning, because running into someone with a name the likes of tittywarbler77 or whatever, destroys immersion for me. I love to lose myself in travelling the simulation and the story that Frontier have presented me with has been broadly compelling.
    I respect and love the community for those who both do and don't engage widely, and for me, one of the best things about ED is that even solo, you can contribute to community efforts if you feel so inclined. The collective persistence in the simulation is genuinely engaging.
    Again personally, I'd like to see some deeper story linking into exploration with some dynamic growth toward either previous deep space exploration or expansion by the Guardians and Thargoids, possibly another race, or even a progenitor race from which both split at some point in the past, as there are enormous narrative possibilities to be tapped there. Something in the simulation to draw human expansion outside the bubble is another aspect ripe with possibility.

    I agree with all the things you mentioned, but I hope they will revisit the ships currently in the game. For instance the Keelback (as it is the first ship built for the Alliance) should have a class 2 or 3 military slot. Relocate beam in areas on some ships (Types 9 & 10).

    Star citizen did it, they used the hooning tracks invented by the players to hand craft them (6 or 7 different races tracks in the system). they then added missions and reputation system so players who love racing can make it their profession.
    I really hope Fdev can push that too , the racing community is big in Elite !

      I've dropped out too for now. Hopefully another player putting the game away will help in the long run to get this unbelievable company to listen.
      I absolutely fell in love with fa-off flight but the developer refuses to support further use by mechanics, exactly like Buur said.
      Next to fa-off flying I have been an avid explorer within the game for years. Nothing but game-loops and procedural generation.
      My ability to keep up applying make-believe in the sandbox has ended with the galaxy change and universe separation.

    This as well as a basic ships interiors with say the cockpit/bridge, personal quarters and a fade to black then external climb down a ladder/walkway ship exit opens up similar/additional ARX store potentials. Really would not mind this kind of stuff as it could hopefully ensure continued development on the game for years to come!

    I would absolutely LOVE to be able to buy a Red Cross/Red Crescent decal for my ship, and would even consider buying a full Emergency Services ship kit for my Python, which I think is about the best rescue ship flying. I'd bet they could sell more than a few D-Day stripe decals, too, for the various AX ships. Unit markings and Squadron Insignia would be another easy sell. Many of the other games I've played in the past that used a similar model to Elite Dangerous had this feature that allowed squadrons to upload an insignia for their use. A nominal ARX fee would let squadron members buy the insignia for their squadron.
    Here's a thought: Put player-flown fighters on stations and ground ports to support station defense and Thargoid on-foot combat. Dock your ship in the hangar and launch your ship-launched fighters from inside the hangar, or from dedicated launch points on the station or ground port.
    As for Racing: Just build some venues. Put up some timing gates for the really long races, or put together some local venues for shorter races. Drone Racing League courses would be a good place to look for inspiration.

      @@zakurn1086, Wow. I did not know that. I was always under the impression that it was an open symbol internationally, seeing as how almost every hospital and medical vehicle uses one or the other. I'd settle for the symbol on the Rescue Ships, though.

    It should be FDev asking this question. I think a huge issue when Odyssey released was the FPS focus(which I actually like) not being what most of the community seemed to want from legs. And again they’re working on things behind the scenes without getting player feedback along the way. I’m all for surprises but I don’t want a surprise like the UI update we got with Odyssey.

    I would love to see some improvement in the exploration interface such as : a way to scan for the botanicals on ground, BUT I am enjoying exploration. I'd love to see some new vessels including ships and ground srv, but no rush. I really want the wing situation to be fixed bc one of our players can no longer join our wings in Odyssey for some reason. Lastly, my BIG wish is player settlements / stations. I know. Big wish and I know something people wouldn't be universally interested in but it's a big empty Galaxy.

    I love that you touched on Engineering. They dropped a post in 2021 wanting feedback and they have totally left it with 0 response. FDEV, please address! ;-;
    The ARX store is very much indeed lacking. With the Thargoid threat, having more tactical skins or a "Thargoid destroyer" theme would be really wicked.

    I'd like to see fleet carriers vulnerable to Thargoid attacks - that would put the cat amongst the pigeons.
    I'd like to to scrap haulers to find and retrieve damaged ships.
    "War is the mother of invention" - Thargoid weapons should develop to counter human threats - like night vision --ooh I can see you now! pew pew!
    Random shutdown field triggering after a heart is exhausted - not at the same point in every fight such as 40% for the cyclops.
    Gankers should be punished harder when attacking ships set up for anti Xeno combat - treat them like traitors to the human race- get an overwhelming police response by the NPC ships in a combat zone, let them respawn at the edge of the galaxy when apprehended by the law with the nearest star beyond jump range. Gankers are just bullies out to spoil everyone else's game and should be treated like outcasts, 😀

    Regarding the Arx stuff, they totally SHOULD be doing Ship Interiors.
    Treat it like a player home, put different furniture styles and decorations in the Arx store for it. Even if we can't interact with it at all, the model assets are all already there, and we can go see them at Odyssey Settlements. Recolor a couple textures here and there and you got variety; teal bedsheets instead of red, a green locker instead of blue, etc etc
    Player homes are popular for a reason, and ain't nothin' wrong with capitalizing on what players want.

    Excellent (and down to earth - ha pun!) expectations. Well done. Yes this all would be amazing, and totally agree with the tharg on foot opportunities crying out to be unleashed (I'd love to see settlement missions to retrieve data from offline settlements in war zones - and fight off drop-shipped critters), and carrier cosmetics options... but also, that I would like to see a smaller exploration-variant carrier, smaller, more efficient with tritium usage geared specifically to exploring with just a few ships, with only a 1/4 of the cargo capacity. Re-use the original carrier "support ship" models designed but never used when carriers were launched. The current carriers are good, don't get me wrong, but they were originally intended for squadrons only and I can see why, they are underutilised by most solo players (or small teams). These smaller carriers could be made to not clutter the system maps too! A great deal of current carrier owners I bet would swap to one of these smaller types - I know I certainly would.

    I would love to see more depth put into other aspects of the game out side of combat. I mean you look at a game the X4 and there is just so much more variety of things to do. ED really boils down to shoot stuff in space, shoot stuff on the ground, shoot rocks and sell the bits, or fly around and scan stuff. What about adding player owned stations, or the agility to turn the materials you mine into ammo. What would it take to be able to then sell that ammo to other players? I don't want the game to go full EVE or Dual Universe but adding more then different ways to go pew pew would not be a bad thing.

    They need to give players the ability to lay down racing markers. This would do 2 things, the ability for players to make the race tracks and give FDev a test bed for player built structures.

    -Let us name our bar/pub on our carrier
    -They gotta fix the whole transferring tritium into the tritium depot with a seperate ship thing as well. should be able to do all this in the captains quarters.
    The colors of carrier interiors and a lot of the suit cosmetic colors are just so bland. Olive green? dull blues, sand, and browns? So many players have squadrons that are color based, and we can bring that out with ship paint jobs and stuff, so why not every other aspect? Not to mention, personally, I don't like any of the "wild west" stuff. It may be cool for some people, but for people like me who want a more sci-fi/Star Wars feel, it's rubbish. The heavy helmets are awesome looking! I just want the option to remove dang trash can lid or cowboy hat. lol
    I'll gladly pay for all of this! Just waiting for more options,

      Prox chat would be epic for on foot immersive experience… really need to have more ways to communicate via radio to other ships as well. Tuning to a local Unicom channel to yell at pirate ships or to verbally request docking, even player controlled docking “job simulator” where you’re the station operator assigning docking to cmdrs flying around. That would be a neat gameplay loop.

    Yup Fleet Carriers need love and they will not do it since they have not been touched since the interior launch. And there are still QoL adjustments needed with them.

    Thanks for the level-headed video! I'm keeping my expectations low, but I'm cautiously optimistic for the game's future.
    One thing that came to mind about racing: we already have those gate things that you can fly through in the tutorial (and CQC). FDev could repurpose those assets as checkpoints for hand-crafted raceways (though they'd need to develop the racing gameplay mechanics behind all that).
    And yeah, I hope we get more ARX store customisation, particularly in Odyssey suits, as it makes sense both in and out of universe. I wouldn't mind a hooded helmet :)

    Every engineering material should have been added to mission rewards by now, ALL of them. Here's an idea, do that, AND have engineers have their own missions to acquire the materials that they want to engineer parts for your ship. Easy gameplay loop right there! How about CQC? How to make players want to do CQC / Arena matches to breathe life back into the game mode? Give them engineering materials instead of only credits, these are easy to implement considering the work needed to make it work.

    I would love to see more ways to interact with Thargoids that aren't just violent and hostile or passive meta-alloy donations and the Thargoid equivalent of whale watching. So much of the current mechanics caters to AX, it would be nice to have PX more fleshed out (Thargoid Powerplay with Seo Jin-ae as it's leader anyone?) as well as some love shown to yes, racing, but also mining, trading, exploration, which sometimes feel like filler in terms of game mechanics. Yet, the galaxy is vast and beautiful so more reason to explore it beyond making nice screen shots and some tourism would be great. etc.

    I agree with your points and we should not expect impossible stuff. However I want to see some planet surface exploration gameplay, the current exobiology is too basic. I want to see something more engaging to see on planet surfaces that will require to go on foot and venture.

    Thanks that you made it clear from the beginning, that you won't mention new ships speculations in your video. As long as they deny the "space ship sim"-part of their space ship sim, I think I won't return. The FPS part felt pretty rough around the edges to me...more like a welding simulator with bad shoot outs. Or has that improved?

    I'd love cockpit paint jobs--The yellow from the interior of the Diamond Back ships . . . hate it, lol. Different HUD setups. More ship kits. What I've love to see, but not holding my breath would be varying thrusters when you upgrade or swap, so they don't all look the same. *shrugs*

    The Arx cost for cosmetics needs a balance pass. I understand , and like the big packs of suit, ship Kit. But after the newness of the packs has worn off, then the pieces should be able to be purchased in smaller sets, or even individual items. Another would be for ship skins, for the more basic colors could there be a kit of one color that gives all ships in game that color. Say a yellow kit.

    Can't say this will work for everyone, and some of you may already do this.
    But to anyone having unstable fps no matter your settings. Check your gpu usage on a graph, if it's spiking up at regular intervals. Close the ED launcher! I'm not joking, I went from 2k Cas scaling at balanced with medium-high settings shadows off... to 4k Cas ultra high-ultra settings on a 1060 6gb!

    On foot battling with Thargoids seems almost certain. I wonder if the Thargoids will also have vehicles as well? I would love to see Thargoid ships coming into stations and dropping off assault teams, and we are able to fight them inside the station and also on the interior surface. For racing they could create some kind of space or surface-based race tracks in the game. You can then have time runs for individuals and racing with others around a fixed course. For exploration, I would like to see proper weather models, surface water, more vegetation on a wider selection of worlds. Then they can add alien life in future years. This year the focus will be on Thargoids so maybe not.

      Thargoids have a interest in Ammonia worlds. It a shame that we still can't visit the ground of such worlds. Especially given how important they are to Thargoid lore. So surely given how front and center the Thargoids are now, Ammonia worlds has to come. An such worlds needs all the systems in your comment.

    I really hope that all of this biological data we're collecting leads somewhere in the story; maybe incorporate and connect old content. What are the anomalies at Notable Stellar Phenomena? What's it's relation to the nearby life forms if any? Where are the seemingly missing salvage items? There's so much that seems stagnant that could very easily be brought into the fold in '23.

    What I'd like to see is Frontier fix my newly bought EDO and stop it crashing to desktop EVERY time I try to load it; and yes my pc exceeds the recommended spec, I've verified files, uninstall-reinstalled and even rolled back My nvidia drivers. I've raised the issue on the tracker but looking at the size of it I'll be waiting a long time.
    I raise this just to show that there are some of us excluded from all this.

    Please add purpose related ship kits and paint jobs,
    Please don't be greedy,
    Please don't add (more) seasonal related paint jobs, which are immersion breaking.
    Please add more unlockables, like the Thargoid bubble head.

    Since the tutorial was added they've even got checkpoint gates in the game. It surely wouldn't take that much more for basic racing support, and it's long overdue.

    Personally i would really like them to come out with new on foot weapons, we haver literally 11 total weapons in game right now, It would be nice to have more options in that department. Plus new ships and ground vehicles would be nice too.

    Good commentary!
    The one place FD's comms have been poor last year is talking about the (non dastardly daisy) bugs. During 2021 they promised an update on the issue tracker yet since then there hasn't been a peep from FD, nor any info about long standing bugs like the flight model/rotational correction problem, the mining Pulse Wave Scanner or the myriad of bugs currently affecting AX conflict zones. The issue tracker itself is a waste of player time unless you have the reach to promote bugs directly to FD's attention and is exacerbated by the effectively useless search function leading to many duplicate reports which don't get confirmed as a result.
    The narrative of Update 14 was excellent and they did address some important issues, but when I have to work round or ignore multiple bugs in every session I play which have been present since Odyssey launch they're getting no leeway from me. I just wish they'd give me a reason to believe that submitting bug reports would be worth my time again.
    I love the game but it's incredibly frustrating to play.

    U can say a lot about Elite Dangerous. However I find it one of the most beautiful sandbox game that i always continue to come back paying. I mean u can just experience many strange simulator laws and explore in this game is underrated. Depends what ur locking for. it was actually just a space sim getting Pvp and so on. i love the way they built the game up as a real sim, not just a spaceship that moves like most or all others spaceships games. It can get grinding.. However for what reason or why i ever stopped playing , I already had so many hours of fun and questions. And as i say i`m planing to get back to ED soon. (this game is sick in VR) not like motion sick 😂😍

    I’d love to see more fleet carrier customization. It would really make your carrier feel like a home base rather than a personal storage shed. On top of that hopefully we will be able to board the thargoid hive ships and disable the guardian shutdown module. Maybe opening a way for a guardian infused capital ship to destroy it.

    When FDEV released Odyssey and it turned out to be centered on on-foot game play, half the player base left. When FDEV put flying space ships center stage again with the 2nd Thargoid War half the player base returned. So I do not expect FDEV to release much on-foot content in the future. Personally I hope players get more player agency. I do not understand why FDEV doesn't tap the huge reservoir of game play ideas by players. It can relieve them from at least part of the burden to keep the game interesting.

    Without watching the video first. What I expect in 2023 is very little and What I would like to see is FDEV making Elite Dangerous fun to play. While that is nebulous if they could get away from the grind to mission to grind format they've followed since launch that would be great.

    With currently zero user creation tools in the game, it hard to see how they implement user created tracks into the game. I don't think the community would take to Frontier creating a few tracks.
    An allowing community created content into the game is a big step. An is possibly more a major expansion terrictory than a simple update of Odyssey.

    Love all of the content mentioned in the video but sadly I think FDEV just don't have the resources to deliver most of what was mentioned AND develop/support the game too. I think this was why additional carrier interiors and more were not made available. No resources left. The ARX store remains vastly underused which is odd considering the potential revenue stream it could bring to FDEV if it was extended further.

    We definitely need more interactions with the thargoids, also we need more exploration things, like my favorite dream is to see in game, atmospheric worlds with breathable atmosphere and volumetic clouds and ofcourse dynamic nature, which changes and expands by itself. Rain, snow, thunder... if these things are made in "notable stellar fenomena signal sources" why do they cannot be generated on/in the planets ?
    This is what I was expecting, and what I was dreaming about :) Elite Dangerous is definitely better than scam citizen :) by the content and interactable enviroments count.

    In regard to ARX, I have never actually bought them but have used ARX I earn in-game. I play in Solo, so all cosmetics are only going to be seen by me and I have no need for emotes.
    Having said that, I'd like to see more cosmetic options but at a lower cost. Some stuff is over 10,000 Arx and if you don't buy ARX like I do, that's a lot of ARX to earn in-game. I realise Frontier want to make money from ARX but I feel they'd do a better a job if they lowered the cost of some of the ARX and then offered more for more niche cosmetics like Fleet Carrier one's (because not everyone owns a Fleet Carrier).
    I think in-game racing would be an excellent idea. I gather Star Citizen has racing in it (I don't play but remember seeing it somewhere) but only in their equivalent of SRVs. ED should have an in-built CQC type thing for both ship and SRV racing but also offer non-CQC tracks we can visit casually in-game too without queuing.. It'd also be nice to have some time-trial type races for those of use who play in Solo. Our times could be logged and there be a leaderboard. This could be reset if need be, to keep it fresh because times would probably remain unchanged for ages otherwise (due to the limitations of SRVs in particular, as they canned be Modded).

    Another great video, you guys really showcase how pretty Elite Dangerous is.
    I agree with pretty much everything you said, apart from the galnet piece it's great to have a story ongoing and the cut scenes help to bring this to life, but it's still mostly a wall of orange lifeless text. Imo communication irl is way more dynamic and should be reflected in the futuristic environment of Elite Dangerous. Racing is something our squadron is interested in and would love some structure to be added. We have great real world racing events and I can't see it would need that much development time, just some tracks, or rings to fly through in a canyon with a timer. Better paint jobs with squadron adjustable colouration would be cool, allow us to paint our ships with the same paint job so a squardron theme can be made. All that you said about carriers I agree with, but would add doing away with cool down spin up timers, allow multiple jump planning, allow for cargo holds of tritium to be used, then carriers become not only more interesting but way more useful. I would love to see squadron built bases/space station.
    Oh and fix engineering it's just too grindy to care about, I haven't engineered a ship in over a year, just way toooooo boring. Then again there haven't been any new ships for over a year so that could also be part of my apathy.
    I would love some real communication, with a road map with real details.
    I hope for all of this, I would like some of this in the coming months, I however expect none of it, FDEV are just too irratic, irresponsible, and unreliable.

    I want ship interiors.
    Also scavenge missions have been bugged since odyssey release when completing them in wings. The wrecks get duplicated and stacked inside of each other. So you can’t actually cut open the maintenance panels.

      Well I think they fixed it recently so you can at least get the mission item from the crash site. Everyone I tried this past week didn’t have the glitch.

      @@Xaxxus Did it keep you from completing the mission? In Odyssey, every crash site says to fetch quest item from a container. There are yellow containers that aren't locked. I'd go over to it, open it up and the item would be there. About 3-4 weeks ago, those quest items were not in the yellow foot locker boxes, so I would have to logout and back in until it showed up.
      I've had very few that require a maintenance panel to be opened lately. I'm near Deciat area. Not sure if they have more maintenance panel missions elsewhere in different regions of space.
      Overall, they've been very easy, at least when it's in a locker.
      There is one weird glitch where I can see Odyssey on-foot items from within the SRV, but most times when I get out On Foot, they're not available or not reachable. However, those aren't quest items, so I skip it. It's easy enough to get such things in a settlement support mission.

    I find it odd that the options for on-foot weapons are so limited. They'd be a great place for ARX cosmetics. I'd like to see Azimuth enter the small arms game with AX weapons. Particularly a proper hit scan sniper rifle using the gauss cannon mechanics, or a kinetic revolver. Also, I'd like to see some melee weapons.
    The plasma guns, while they have a great aesthetic at a glance just don't feel great to use, mostly due to projectile speed, and uncharacteristically mediocre sound design.

    MAN i miss this game. stuck on Xbox... if i was a billionaire, i would buy the company: the game would be free, however there would be a $3 per month subscription. IN RETURN: hundreds of ships to choose from, specialized carriers with automated drones for (trickle) collection, defense, observation/exploration... build your own outposts. romance options (so youre not alone while exploring). NPC crews to flesh out bigger ships. theyve been doing great on the story, i love the thargoid rampage. the mysterious alien dead outposts need to be bigger and lead to bigger mysteries. RAXXLA needs to be the biggest payoff in a storyline in the history of mankind... i really hope ED keeps going and getting better

    I stopped playing elite when my friends account got bugged right after this update, and fdev did nothing to help his account bug....so I went over and played the alpha Star Citizen, it would be hard for me to come back..... but I'll come back to ED when they fix my friends account and add some "new content".

    To me racing seems like an easier addition to the game that would branch its appeal. You could have in space racing around asteroids, debris fields, or stadiums. You could have srv racing in rally style tracks. You could even branch out and add a specific subset of vehicles for racing, I.e pod racer style or land speeder for ground racing and more specialised ships designed for racing rather than just mambas and over engineered ships. You could have different in game leagues that can culminate in grand community events/tournaments to watch or participate. Or even have small scale leagues or tracks for a system that our outside the main leagues. You could implement criminal elements into it like illegal engineering or betting. It seems like a different addition that would help it stand out more from the crowd. So I hope fdev go down this route as it offers more unique gameplay for people like me who don’t bother with thargoids or power play stuff.

Considering I'd basically be right at the tutorial new to it all, would it be advisable to give it a shot, or would the gap in knowledge and resources be too far behind to even attempt to catch up at this rate?

    I would pay money, even 200$ for blue and red lights kit on ship. It's all I want, I don't ask for utopia like ship interiors or more ships. Plain and simple lights for what I do in Elite for years. I dream this, maybe one day ....

    I believe there will be Thargoid Factions and perhaps Thargoid presence in the Power Play, though how a Hive minded creature could be so incorporated I have no idea.

    I'm unsure about this idea of "infiltrating" any Thargoid site. As long as I play Elite - and don't get me wrong, I always loved it - there is no "finesse", only "brute force". Unlike e.g. in the FarCry series, there is no means to sneak into the back of an opponent, and take him down. Not the single powerful sniper headshot which takes down the strategically placed guardian enemy. And there is not the FSD jump missile strike (like the U-jump CTD missiles in the Neal Asher Polity universe) which can take out the biggest capital warship, rendering it at least for a "mission kill" (which we easily see in modern warfare since 1945 AD). As such also all those current tiny fighters (which in a future reality would carry exactly these behemoth killers, like modern cruise missiles) are actually quite useless because the game mechanics simply ignores the concepts of interceptors, attack bombers, EGM support, assault carriers (why is there the ridiculous restriction to only one single SLF - already IWAR 2 had 2, far better ones) and.. and.... all these things we already also saw in Homeworld, so please don't tell it's impossible. honestly, IMHO the Elite engine would need a total overhaul of the whole concept, where a halfway reasonable space suit is more expensive than a small spacecraft - ridiculous! It would need really specialized ships, and even more important the possibility of a success/ victory other than "fire until shields crush, and then until armor is at 0%". Instead of implementing a "C-shooter" which hardly can compete with decent 1st person shooters FDev should better have invested their resources in substantial improvements of the "space part" , like astrophysical phenomenons as accretion disks at Black holes, and -Yes!- atmospheric landings. Not possible? Bullshit, already the earliest Flight Simulators were able to 'fly in the air'. It is just the very limited game engine, and a perhaps unwilling development team which precludes that. If they wanted to, we would already have it.

    I’m only interested in spaceship gameplay. I despise the mind-numbing and tedious SRV gameplay. I got out on foot exactly twice, only to see identical cookie cutter station interiors and had my fill of that. I came here for the spaceships, and it’s still the only thing that interests me.

    I hesitate to encourage FDEV to expand the ARX store, their prices are already way too inflated.
    It costs more to paint my gun than it does to paint an entire fleet carrier.
