It's not at all that they don't allow criticism. It's how that criticism is expressed that is the issue. That's often the case with the internet. It's not what's being said but the manner in which it's being said. Often criticism is aggressive, angry and offensive. That is unnecessary and not constructive and it's that (I believe) they are attempting to moderate and exclude and tbh, as someone who has to deal with UA-cam comments on a daily basis, I'm not personally against that 😂 o7

Yet we really do need an medium Imperial fighter to balance out Fed v Imp CZs. Right now they are so weighted for the Feds, with FAS dominating the beautiful but worthless Clipper. So I would highly value a combat viable Clipper Mk. 2.
I don't play Elite Dangerous anymore, felt pretty burnt out constantly with the game, I still keep up with news and this channel is one of the best for that, keep up the great work.

I attacked the Titan Thor yesterday. First time trying, I died twice trying to reach it and once whilst inside, then I watched the 'how to take down a titan' video and I've been there multiple times today helping and doing my part. It feels great fighting alongside other cmdrs.
We need more ships. But I have owned most of the ships at one time or another. I use the type 10 over all of my ships except for exploration. Iv put a lot of time over 3000 hrs in the game. But I gravitate to my 10 all the time.
I very rarely comment on you tube but this was some fantastic reporting. I really appreciate how you broke down that story. Establishing the context really helped. Keep up the great work, I’m very tempted to dust off my Hotass and jump back into the game!

First off, this particular episode of WSN IS quite a chonker! Very well put together because it did NOT feel like a 17 minute video to go with my morning coffee, it went by super fast. Incredible footage and very informative! Secondly, I had a bit of experience with Justabout on another game. At first I thought it was a huge gimmick, and it very well may be one, however participants DO get paid out for whatever they contribute if selected to do so. A friend of mine has contributed various pieces, be it photos or fanfics and they have gotten a decent chunk of "fun cash" from Justabout to go spend on their gaming habits. And I think you nailed it there too, in this age of content creation where it's a thing people do for the love of it, getting compensated for the work and time just is not really a concept many of us have. Anyway, point of the matter is, they may be sketch, but at the end of the day, they uphold their promise. Contestants get paid, and everyone's happy. End of! Also new ships, really liking the new direction they're headed. It's a bit more modern than their previous approach at not telling us a damned thing! I feel like a broken record now, but I hope they continue their new habits on communication. I can say it definitely does NOT feel like OLD Fdev anymore, and in a good way. I really hope they keep going with this and being super careful to not head into the p2w territory (which they are not currently in, despite what a lot of people say imo.) I've been flying under the nom de guerre Revenant010 since 3303. Took a long break after Distant Worlds 2. Shed the console, built a PC, and, a new HOTAS lands on Sunday. Didn't know they had a Thargoid enemy type bearing the same name.
When I first saw that teaser image I literally shouted "Are we going to get new faction ships finally?!" Also, if this new ship is indeed an explorer and somehow has superior jump range to the Anaconda, I might lose my mind. *sigh* Guess it's time to move back to the bubble.
The new ship is a new Krait model! No, I'm kidding, I have no idea what it is. Yeah, that video post with the generic ship in it is a weird one. You'd think Just About's media team could have just asked for an asset from Frontier. It's not like there are plenty of ships to choose from. Very strange, very strange.

I also love your deep dive into the CEO ; i found his recent business efforts in the last 3-5 years has been in tech and fintech startups, nearly all trying to utilise Ai for various endeavours. A CEO recently experimenting with Ai and then starting up a community site for content creators, is a dangerous combination in my eyes. Thank you again TBP team

I'm with other folks who think it's a Gutamaya but I would really love to see a medium Saud Kruger too. Staring at digital screens on the inside of a Python just isn't the same as travelling in the lap of luxury and being able to see outside actual windows.

As we await the big news of something never seen in ED, it could be as many commanders hope it's base-building. What would be the best way to build a base pre-fitted modular buildings "as fitted to fleet carriers" you would then require a ship to transport said modules or in fact be said modules pre-fitted and transported by commanders, and as with Fleet carriers if you decided to move your mobile settlement to another planet or system you would get a count down maybe in days not hours...
The Just About thread didn't explain the system very well, or I just got stuck on the word "bounty". To me, "bounty" implies searching for something. The Just About system is about creating, not searching for things. Now that I understand how it works, I understand why my reply was deleted for being OT. Another really well researched and recorded news piece, thank you! The bobbleheads do look good, but 8000 Arx is too many. I've just spent A32,000 on a new space ship and will no doubt be spending A32,000 on the next one in November-ish and honestly that's enough for 2024. I've always been supportive buying cosmetic items in game, after all we don't have a server change which many online games do have. The trouble with the price increases is that buying a new paintjob has gone from an impulse to a considered purchase, so personally I make a lot fewer of them. I've never been a big fan of Arx tbh, I preferred spending £/S/D in the Frontier store :-D
As soon as "heavily moderated" was mentioned all interest in that platform went out of the window. Getting rid of toxicity is a good thing but heavy handed moderation in my experience just means moderators on a power trip moderating anything they do not agree with creating an echo chamber situation which in itself is toxic.
So I am near Thor and wait for the meltdown show in about 19 hours. I`m not AX fighter. Should I watch in my general purpose Anaconda from supercruise or from close range?
The new ship probably isnt a combat or trader ship, since we've already got those, and it doesnt look like an explorer. What would the last profession be? On-foot? Powerplay?
It really is a wonderfully designed stick. The throttle is a bit meh after being convinced to use two sticks and pedals which is my current setup Frankenstein'd together consisting of the X52 stick for the right hand, TM 16K stick for the left, throttle for extra buttons and the pedals from the G920 held together by vjoy, joystick gremlin and hidhide and of course the RNG that is Windows 11 which will generally declare one vjoy device as device 1 five days a week and then device 3 on the weekend. It is rather annoying but easier now that I've combined it to fewer vjoy devices for the sake of Star Citizen and its five device "limit" when using a command to switch devices I forget what it was. Those controllers and a pair of Cougar MFD's to give 119 buttons (the pinkie finger will temp load in alt profile which gets mapped to vjoy 3. I did say it was Frankenstein'd together and I wasn't messing about.
@sidrat2009 that's a hell of a setup indeed! Went from the T16000m to the x56. I tried to go with the x52, but I couldn't remap the controls in such a way that made sense with what I'd already established as muscle memory, so I got the x56. I did have to remove most of the goo in the throttle that gave it it's friction, as it was far too stiff even at its loosest (jesus that stuff does not wash out at all).

New ship isn't all that big. Unless there's more ceiling, it appears the be a small or medium ship. Hull base to top thruster is at maximum 15m tall based on kneeling welder height. That's the edge of small pad entry (keelback being the smallest med at 14.9m tall. Gutamaya? Potentially. Caravelle? Likely. Long range exobio ship? That's my call. Panther Clipper on deck.

@smzubek dude in lower engine is knelt down. Bro above is leaned over. Since avg human height while kneeling is roughly 1.12-1.25m, taking his measurement vs. the whole of the ship math's out to 12-15m from hull base to top of upper thruster.
Ok I went back and went pixel for pixel. Knelt welder fits (from Hull base to top dead center of thruster) 14 2/3 times. Now I also took my measurement kneeling, as I am of average height 5' 11.5 or 181cm, My knelt height is 4.5ft or 1.37m. So using the generalized measurements of 1.12 - 1.25 - and 1.37m you get 16.35m - 18.25m - and 20m tall respectively. Looks like my rough estimates came out smaller than I thought. Solid Medium at least. Probably Gutamaya. Probably Caravelle or Explorer type. Could be fun.
The game needs a big freighter class ship with maybe the ability to carry a small ship. Also, when someone says heavily moderated content, I tend to stay well away as the content will always sway politically towards that of the viewpoints of management and the moderators. The tech industry as a whole does not have a good history of impartiality on political matters.
You mention the vertically stacked engine configuration on the teased new ship.. Are we looking at the same thing, tho? Cause I look at it as a 4 engine configuration, in a 45 degree square formation?

This "Just About" shows exactly why "making the quick buck" isn't always the best route. You post to that site; you might get some attention - maybe even a couple bucks. Then that site owns your posted content they can put up in any way ans shape - you get nothing else from it.
Frontier need to avoid as many slip-ups as possible right now. They have a reputation to repair. ED was known for its excellent attention to detail in sound and UI animations, but after Odyssey left us with such a slapdash attempt they can't afford to let external parties ruin that progress for them.
Must be so frustrating to have an own goal like that happen, especially when not caused by them. The team at Frontier are doing so good at the moment, so a real shame it happened for them.
I want engine updates and graphics improvements (fixed anti-aliasing??) not to just be sold ships like star citizen does that can't even be walked around.

You have to forgo an auto pilot to fit a scanner on, unless you use a size 4 or 5 slot. It defies logic.

I think it's an Gutamaya ship, in Elite First Encounters there was a large Imperial Ship called the Imperial Explorer.

First off, this particular episode of WSN IS quite a chonker! Very well put together because it did NOT feel like a 17 minute video to go with my morning coffee, it went by super fast. Incredible footage and very informative!
Secondly, I had a bit of experience with Justabout on another game. At first I thought it was a huge gimmick, and it very well may be one, however participants DO get paid out for whatever they contribute if selected to do so. A friend of mine has contributed various pieces, be it photos or fanfics and they have gotten a decent chunk of "fun cash" from Justabout to go spend on their gaming habits. And I think you nailed it there too, in this age of content creation where it's a thing people do for the love of it, getting compensated for the work and time just is not really a concept many of us have. Anyway, point of the matter is, they may be sketch, but at the end of the day, they uphold their promise. Contestants get paid, and everyone's happy. End of!
Also new ships, really liking the new direction they're headed. It's a bit more modern than their previous approach at not telling us a damned thing! I feel like a broken record now, but I hope they continue their new habits on communication. I can say it definitely does NOT feel like OLD Fdev anymore, and in a good way. I really hope they keep going with this and being super careful to not head into the p2w territory (which they are not currently in, despite what a lot of people say imo.)

I've been flying under the nom de guerre Revenant010 since 3303. Took a long break after Distant Worlds 2. Shed the console, built a PC, and, a new HOTAS lands on Sunday. Didn't know they had a Thargoid enemy type bearing the same name.

When I first saw that teaser image I literally shouted "Are we going to get new faction ships finally?!" Also, if this new ship is indeed an explorer and somehow has superior jump range to the Anaconda, I might lose my mind.

I wish I'd been playing when it was super populated. Elite is one of those games that should live rent free on your SSD, you may not play it for a year, but you might. See ya in the black Commanders.

Amazing clarification on JustAbout - when i saw the Steam update post by FDev, so many alarm bells rang in my head. I also love your deep dive into the CEO ; i found his recent business efforts in the last 3-5 years has been in tech and fintech startups, nearly all trying to utilise Ai for various endeavours. A CEO recently experimenting with Ai and then starting up a community site for content creators, is a dangerous combination in my eyes.

I'm with other folks who think it's a Gutamaya but I would really love to see a medium Saud Kruger too. Staring at digital screens on the inside of a Python just isn't the same as travelling in the lap of luxury and being able to see outside actual windows.
Once again...Good footage and content, I touched Thor and that was enough for me, I don't understand the content submission. I sometimes like to turn my day in Elite into a story blog is that what this is? I hope they put more story in this game there is a tip there would like to see more. The Power Play that is confusing to lots.
I think you can suggest ideas for submission to Just About, so might be worth checking if you can submit a story/blog
As we await the big news of something never seen in ED, it could be as many commanders hope it's base-building. What would be the best way to build a base pre-fitted modular buildings "as fitted to fleet carriers" you would then require a ship to transport said modules or in fact be said modules pre-fitted and transported by commanders, and as with Fleet carriers if you decided to move your mobile settlement to another planet or system you would get a count down maybe in days not hours...

The Just About thread didn't explain the system very well, or I just got stuck on the word "bounty". To me, "bounty" implies searching for something. The Just About system is about creating, not searching for things. Now that I understand how it works, I understand why my reply was deleted for being OT. I didn't get a warning on my account, so no big deal.

Another really well researched and recorded news piece, thank you! The bobbleheads do look good, but 8000 Arx is too many. I've just spent A32,000 on a new space ship and will no doubt be spending A32,000 on the next one in November-ish and honestly that's enough for 2024. I've always been supportive buying cosmetic items in game, after all we don't have a server change which many online games do have. The trouble with the price increases is that buying a new paintjob has gone from an impulse to a considered purchase, so personally I make a lot fewer of them. I've never been a big fan of Arx tbh, I preferred spending £/S/D in the Frontier store :-D

As soon as "heavily moderated" was mentioned all interest in that platform went out of the window. Getting rid of toxicity is a good thing but heavy handed moderation in my experience just means moderators on a power trip moderating anything they do not agree with creating an echo chamber situation which in itself is toxic.

The new ship probably isnt a combat or trader ship, since we've already got those, and it doesnt look like an explorer. What would the last profession be? On-foot? Powerplay?

Thor going down and new ship teased? Great time for me to dust off the old x56.
It really is a wonderfully designed stick. The throttle is a bit meh after being convinced to use two sticks and pedals which is my current setup Frankenstein'd together consisting of the X52 stick for the right hand, TM 16K stick for the left, throttle for extra buttons and the pedals from the G920 held together by vjoy, joystick gremlin and hidhide and of course the RNG that is Windows 11 which will generally declare one vjoy device as device 1 five days a week and then device 3 on the weekend. It is rather annoying but easier now that I've combined it to fewer vjoy devices for the sake of Star Citizen and its five device "limit" when using a command to switch devices I forget what it was. Those controllers and a pair of Cougar MFD's to give 119 buttons (the pinkie finger will temp load in alt profile which gets mapped to vjoy 3.
I did say it was Frankenstein'd together and I wasn't messing about.
@sidrat2009 that's a hell of a setup indeed! Went from the T16000m to the x56. I tried to go with the x52, but I couldn't remap the controls in such a way that made sense with what I'd already established as muscle memory, so I got the x56. I did have to remove most of the goo in the throttle that gave it it's friction, as it was far too stiff even at its loosest (jesus that stuff does not wash out at all).

New ship isn't all that big. Unless there's more ceiling, it appears the be a small or medium ship. Hull base to top thruster is at maximum 15m tall based on kneeling welder height. That's the edge of small pad entry (keelback being the smallest med at 14.9m tall. Gutamaya? Potentially. Caravelle? Likely. Long range exobio ship? That's my call. Panther Clipper on deck.

@smzubek dude in lower engine is knelt down. Bro above is leaned over. Since avg human height while kneeling is roughly 1.12-1.25m, taking his measurement vs. the whole of the ship math's out to 12-15m from hull base to top of upper thruster.
Ok I went back and went pixel for pixel. Knelt welder fits (from Hull base to top dead center of thruster) 14 2/3 times. Now I also took my measurement kneeling, as I am of average height 5' 11.5 or 181cm, My knelt height is 4.5ft or 1.37m. So using the generalized measurements of 1.12 - 1.25 - and 1.37m you get 16.35m - 18.25m - and 20m tall respectively. Looks like my rough estimates came out smaller than I thought. Solid Medium at least. Probably Gutamaya. Probably Caravelle or Explorer type. Could be fun.

The game needs a big freighter class ship with maybe the ability to carry a small ship. Also, when someone says heavily moderated content, I tend to stay well away as the content will always sway politically towards that of the viewpoints of management and the moderators. The tech industry as a whole does not have a good history of impartiality on political matters.

The new ship is the Barque Explorer. The type Barque is a salute to the MH Bark Endeavour Explorer. It is indeed a Gutamaya ship.
You mention the vertically stacked engine configuration on the teased new ship.. Are we looking at the same thing, tho? Cause I look at it as a 4 engine configuration, in a 45 degree square formation?

Frontier need to avoid as many slip-ups as possible right now. They have a reputation to repair. ED was known for its excellent attention to detail in sound and UI animations, but after Odyssey left us with such a slapdash attempt they can't afford to let external parties ruin that progress for them.
Must be so frustrating to have an own goal like that happen, especially when not caused by them. The team at Frontier are doing so good at the moment, so a real shame it happened for them.
I want engine updates and graphics improvements (fixed anti-aliasing??) not to just be sold ships like star citizen does that can't even be walked around.

Want Weapons, Missles, Combat computer! A way to use the Slots better like be able to put 3 size 1 techs in a 4. or 2 size 5s in a 7.
Just daft a large vessle can't fit 2 size 1 techs onboard. You have to forgo an auto pilot to fit a scanner on, unless you use a size 4 or 5 slot. It defies logic.
