    Guardián Hull Reinforcement packages don’t get damaged by the caustic cloud inside the maelstrom. The only Guardian module immune to it. I use only 1 Meta Alloy just for power issues.

      Yep this is what I did as well because I didn't want to waste money on engineering yet a 4th set of heavy duty HRPs lol. A pleasant surprise, if you can afford the power. I'm also using Guardian PD and PP, which slightly helps with the system offline time.

      @@rogerstalder7184 No they certainly take a hit, but I haven't seen my guardian stuff go below 30% integrity yet. I'm sure if I let myself get pounded by explosions they would though.

      @@kessilrun6754 Aye, i was go read about it. they seams to go down to 19% then stop. only the hull reinforcment doesent take any damage. thats great, they have way more corrosion resist on it :) my anacona will love it hehe.

    Armor with heavy duty and deep
    platting give you more caustic resistance then meta alloy armor

    Add a beam laser with thermal vent modification, then when you have caustic damage just fire in space, heat up to 210% and caustic damage is removed > heatsink cool down again. (maybe you can also target the caustic generator registering hits to cool down.)

    Also, guys, I will tell you that while I have retired from AX combat (I recently moved out to Colonia and dumped all my AX builds and AX modules off there, then headed for the black), the best weapons for Maelstrom are focused and or long range PA's...just one "ka-chunk!" and then it's a tiny "tink..." "BOOOM!" You can do this from about 5KM out too so no chance of concussion and you just back up a touch more to avoid the fog. Hitting those generators with PA's is very therapeutic. Plus for something like a class 3 you get 80 reloads. I'll probably post that little tidbit in the forums. Just one tap.

    I considered a multi ship coordinated attack to destroy all the caustic generators to kill the cloud but there seem to be hundreds of generators in one maelstrom.

      We need to organize the AXI to turn this around.
      Thargoids have essentially been taking each and every system they've attacked with minimal resistance. They'll get a maelstrom in sol eventually which CANNOT happen.

    Just one caveat to the Meta Alloy hull reinforcements. Even accounting for the caustic resistance they provide, you get more total caustic resistant hull health using normal hull reinforcements and engineering G5 heavy duty + deep plating. The caustic resistance of the meta alloy hull reinforcements and guardian hull reinforcements either one do not slow caustic damage.

    Finaly someone who agrees with me. ^^ I somehow thought Explosive damage Hull would be the best, but i havent found anything :D but after like 20 diffrent builds i found it haha but im gonna do that on a Cutter or Corvett, maybe even on the Anaconda, just to get this maximum Hull Hitpoints and 8 Utility slots. Anaconda seams to have great basic Armor. but low speed...

    You can use the Guardian hull reinforcements as they are not effected by the maelstrom.
    Just replace the meta alloy ones for Guardian and you get 22.6 caustic resistance and 3663 hull.
    I have found the best results with the Cutter, if your careful you can stay in there for as long as you want, if you dont mind waiting for repair limpets to repair.

      I could have sworn my Guardian hull reins were degrading in the past inside Maelstroms, but if that's not the case then very good to know they can be used. o7 Cmdr

      @@GadnokBreakerofWorlds Yeah no idea why they arent effected, I probably an oversite on Fdevs part, just like the new ax stabilizer modules, they are supposed to use 1.5 MW power, but when you use them they use 0 lol

      @@GadnokBreakerofWorlds all hull reinforcement are indestructible, so even if the guardian hull takes damage it doesn't matter, at least that is what I think the reason is

      @@GadnokBreakerofWorlds Guardian modules will decay when you enter the malstrom. Guardian FSD booster will die as well. ONLY Guardian hull reinforcement will survive.

    Is anyone talking about how vast the invasion really is? The road to Colonia has stations being impacted. I'm taking my carrier from the Bubble to the Wren's Nest and had to pick through Thargoid occupied systems for many thousands of light years before I broke into open space. Just sayin'

    You don't need missiles for destroy generators. You need a simple 1 class beam laser with long range mod and cooling special effect (it shows that you successfully hit the generator). One hit and mine will be provoked to explode.

    Has anyone tried launching a recon limpet into the center? I'd imagine that's probably one of the things Cannon Research or someone would have done.

    I believe the cutter would boast more or better results
    Besides the obvious of extra shields extra health extra slots perhaps SLFs can be deployed and reach the center or get closer
    The cutter has an absolutely reality warping speed for the type of ship it is but that's not only the bonus, the weight, the impact and spinning should be reduced and with the amazing boost speed stabilizing shouldn't be a problem
    And with the amount of power you'll be bringing due to the lack of weapons you can bring MORE field neutralizers and so on
    I just need meta alloy hull reinforcements and I can retro fit my AX cutter into Xeno research cutter

    Worst build ever.
    My take as I have built better.
    1. Power unit. Low emissions with thermal spread.
    2. Thrusters. Clean Drive , thermal spread.
    3. Life support, A rated. not engineered. Need the full timer and the unit will breakdown faster when lessen the integrity with light weight engineering.
    4. Scanners, A rated with long range.
    5. Hull Armour Military grade with deep plating, yes you can use reactive grade with layered plating.
    6 FSD, as you said.
    7. Power Distributor. Charge Enhanced with Cluster Caps. All blue means this PD can be used for any task.
    As you have Dirty drive or clean drive thrusters, you are disabling it with your PD engineering.
    8. Weapon needed are AX muiltcannons fixed. or Advanced mulitcannons . They use far less power and can be fire many rounds.
    9. Use silent running to get close to the caustic generators, then use heat sink whilst scanning it, you'll be able to fire off a research limpet for the collection of tissue samples.
    10 Internal cargo rack for a Krait is 64t, with 1 anti xeno cargo sized 14t. this will enable you to carry 78 limpets and the caustic tissue samples will be stored in the ax cargo until you fill it up to 14t.
    11. Use meta alloy hull reinforcement or Guardian ones they stack up caustic resistances.
    Utiltes NEEDED 2x heat sinks. 1x Enchanced xeno scanner and 1x anti shutdown scanner.
    12. Use the galaxy map to avoid Thargoid space. Go to Map mode Pilots Fed, click civilizations, click Thargoid tab off and click on apply to route. This will enable you to get to a malstrom with lesser interdictions via Thargoid space.
    And yes you should get xeno limpet controller 3c and a 3B limpet controller. You can fight the caustic melts by moving backwards out of the malstrom to stop flying into more causitc acid. removeal can be done with silent running to over heat the ship, then when its gone repair the ship. Alos take a 2A auto repair machine to repair FSD or modules you need to fix. You can survive being in the malstrom, rebuy screen is pointless exercise and having enough limpets and avoiding Thargoid space, you can farm it for an hour plus with causitc tissues of 6 or more and at least 80 caustic mech, and caustic shards collected.
    I use a Python, which has the same amount of hard points same internal modules, except for 2, and same amount of utility mounts.
