These guys should do a buddy cop movie together. Posh Londoner TGV and grizzled former-NYPD cop Marc team up to thwart international crime syndicate MVMT as they attempt to blow up the Big Ben. Or something like that
I can't be the only one who thinks this should be a weekly reoccurrence. You two have an amazing chemistry, production is spot on, and flow is excellent. Outstanding!
Hi TGV, I love these collaborative videos with Marc. You guys come through as true friends talking watches and I feel like I am there with you. Hope you and yours are doing well. Best regards, John
So pleased to see your continued effort to collaborate with Marc Frenkel. Love to hear your opinions and preferences. Looking forward to a long lasting series of episodes! Keep up the great work!
The JLC “no dead time” on the minute repeater, is a mechanism that allows the watch to chime hours and minutes without a gap when the quarter hour chime is not needed, such as 14:09. Great video, more of the duo please!
Still laughing at Mark’s comment that “everyone wants to hear the comment of a man who is wearing a watch movement on his shirt!” It’s completely true! I would love to hear your review and comparison of the Moonwatch! Fantastic show as always! The hour literally flies by!
Awesome show my friend! JLC 4 FACES!!!! That watch is ridiculous! That is absolutely incredible !!! How many times does the crown pull out?!?!?! That Casio is worth a punt !;) All the best T
Hello again, so when you two make a video it's fun and full of info. And when I'm looking at your separate videos it's something else. As always great!
Tgv gets into a mispronunciation loop, Mark under his breath knowing Tgv wont drop the bone: "Don't worry about it" XD Love how you two bounce off eachother and inevitably make these videos just as entertaining as they are informational. Excellent content!!!
As soon as Marc mentioned Ming I made the connection to Ming Thein whose photography blog I've been following for well over 10 years. Amazing talent with the camera, well worth checking out.
I never leave comment ever on any website and I gotta say, this is one of the best watch clip I have seen on UA-cam. I love so many of the watches you guys brought up especially those lesser covered watches namely Bertucci, Squale, and Marathon that made your list. Great show.
So refreshing to kick back and relax to two watch guru's run through their latest top tens. I look forward to next month's chat as much as I'm looking forward to an Islander GMT! Thanks from the Sussex south coast of England 🇬🇧🏴
Terrific segment! You and Marc have respectively introduced me to Squale and Damasko which seem to suit my preferences, but so much to consider from these twenty watches that you introduced. Thank you!
What an Odyssey! Thank you both! For my number 1, it's a throw up between the Zenith and the IWC. The IWC is just so modern and the Zenith is a great example of how consistent we are at producing, once rare, but now less rare, classically materialled watches.
TGV and Mark, you guys are brilliant in these top tens, great fun and educational as well. Laughed out loud with the pronunciation attempts of the last brand.
Love the video. Ming Watches are amazing. They've been going for a while, they were founded by photographer Ming Thein. Secondly, I love that you picked the Chronomaster Sport, such an amazing release from Zenith. I just think it looks way better than the Daytona. In addition to that both the Breitling Premier Heritage Chrono and the Black Bay Chrono are beautiful. The Breitling is just as beautiful as they get, it has that Vacheron or PP Chrono look to it and the BB Chrono is just like Mark mentioned, it's going to be Tudor's Daytona, only that it looks better than the Daytona. Onto the astronomically high priced JLC Reverso, what a beautiful pice that one. Just incredible, super complex but elegant. Next is the Patek 5236-P. This one is just understated luxury at its fines. Such an amazing complication as it is an annual calendar and make it look so simple, almost Calatrava-esque is just amazing. And last, bit not least the Naoya Hida watch. They make incredibly beautiful watches. If you like that one, you should check Kurono watches. They are another microbrand from Japan, and they make beautiful watches.
Really enjoyed the video. Speaking of manual wind, please consider making a video of top 10 manual wind watches and another, top 10 tough/robust movement watches. Thank you!
Hi TGV Yet another interesting & entertaining video from you guys. So many cool watches, but the one I’m most interested in - and it’s within my reach, too - is the Cartier Tank solar. Been wanting a Tank for a long time, and now I’m glad I waited😊 Keep up the good work, together as well as separately. And have a nice weekend👍
Don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it yet, but the dead time avoidance function is for the minute repeater. If for example the time it 10:10, the minute repeater would chime 10 times for the hours, then instantly chime 10 times for the minutes. Most minute repeaters would have a space of “dead time” where the 15 minute double chime would normally fit in, but would not chime before the 15 minute mark. I hope that clears it up, purely convenience for those that get bored with their minute repeaters between hours and minutes between X:00 and X:14
Hi TGV! You will be pleased to know that your channel helped inspire me to purchase my first semi-luxury watch and the only one I have ever paid more than $50 for: a Citizen Promaster GMT diver, which wasn't quite what I was looking for but was VERY close. I absolutely love it. Thanks!
So glad to hear, cracking watches, maybe the best of Citizen IMO. Enjoy it, wear it with pride and may it serve you well. Thank you for sharing that. Best regards, TGV
"dead time avoidance" refers to a function in the minute repeater. in your typical minute repeaters, a time like "3:01" would sound like "bong bong bong, silence, ding". the "silence" is from quater chime not chiming because "3:01" is less than 15 minutes past 3 o'clock. this big brain reverso gets rid of the awkward quater chime silence when you operate the minute repeater when the minute hand is between 0 minute and 15 minute of every hour.
Guys, great video....really enjoyed listening to you go on for over one hour! Loved the mentioning of the Bertucci in such illustrious company and agreed - if they just would make a manual wound version. One thing for Marc and his love of the white dial Marathon GSAR: you should definitely check out the new Mühle Glashütte S.A.R Rescue Timer Lumen (luminous dial version)...Cheers mates
You guys are getting good at this 😁 Really enjoyable and love the content. Appreciate it that Marc, prefaces it when and if it’s a Watch he’s selling too. Makes it more legit too with the fun content. ✌🏼🇺🇸
Love the shirt, can we get that design on a t-shirt? Since it's spring and it's going to get warmer... And waiting on Marc's -kinda promised- Islander watch to come out!!!
Marc: "The only new thing to come to watchmaking in the automatic movement in like 400 years." Yoshikazu Akahane: "Ahem! Let me introduce you to my new drive system."
Great episode! Small correction--the Cartier Tank was launched in 1917, but the brand's been around for way longer than that! Since 1847, actually (in at least some capacity).
The dead time avoidance system stops the long pauses that can happen with minute repeaters for certain times. This makes it more enjoyable to listen to, and also stops accidental breakage of the movement in restarting the system prematurely.
TGV I just purchased your coffee mug a couple days ago and wanted to know would it be okay to show it on my channel ? Your shirt is totally awesome too .
The Ming Thien watch! I followed him for quite a few years when he did a very good photography blog. I was aware of his passion for watches during that period and also followed his journey creating his own watches. Great guy, always responded to comments and questions on photography.
Hi loved the show! Quick question, what is the loudest automatic or manual wind watch? I have hearing aids and I’ve never heard any of my watches tick in my collection
TGV thanks for the plug on the new Squale. I've been telling myself for months that the only thing holding me back from a Sub39 is not having a 20mm lug width... My Corso Italiano is on order. Cheers!
I had an Explorer 1016 bought new in 1986. That stretchy feeling with the bracelet was merely due to the bracelet being worn and stretchy. It was not so much an intentional design feature as it was the bracelets we're not a durable as they are today. Good vid. Keep at it!
Ill be honest, ive been subbed to urban gentry since the beginning, but i kind of fell off the wagon a year or so ago. These collaborations are a breath of fresh air and i love how two have dichotomous reasons to come to the same final results. Its almost annoying watching watch videos like this from other people because they always wind up being sycophants to either luxury or uber value; while completely bashing the other. The only other watch channel i think can do this appreciation for watches as watches, while respecting horology while at the same time appreciating great value pieces the everyman can enjoy is teddy. Id really think a cool collab with him about serious discussions would be super cool too. But as it stands these videos are great; i had them on as background noise for a few hours and my wife wound up listening in and enjoying you guys as well. And... shes definitely not a watch person! So good job guys, this is great and refreshing content and reinvigorated my enjoyment of the channel. Cheers!
Oh yeah, the growth of compatibility between you guys is extremely noticeable. You guys were kind of stepping over each other a bit awkwardly at first, but now its just a great and natural conversation from 2 completely different, but totally valid perspectives. Im an engineer myself, so I can appreciate marcs stances, and i also appreciate horology as a historic process too so i just win here haha. Great stuff!
Bonjour TGV! I was wondering why there has never been (to my knowledge) a chronograph from the 40's or 50's in your collection as there is a large choice and for the moment quite affordable...Thanks for your videos!
Brilliant video. Best collaboration yet! Have you guys checked out the new Christopher Ward C63 Sealander range. Some very handsome watches! Actually, what about a video on Christopher Ward TGV?
I'm picking up my Squale Corso Italiano from WhataWatches on Tuesday. I've been eyeing it since it came out, and finally decided to pull the trigger on my first Swiss movement watch.
I actually tried the speedy this week at my dealer’s tool. I have to agreed with TGV (not that my opinion matters) that new bracelet is extremely comfortable!
Love the good vibe chemistry you both always have, I actually went to get an Omega Tokyo this weekend, but In the shop I fell for the Railmaster denim, so that’s what I left with, strange as I was so set on the Tokyo walking in, the Railmaster just spoke to me though, I love it.

Yes..lol
You mean an updated ( but same sex!) Dempsey & Makepeace ( I blame the lockdown so I can view it on ITV4) but set in States instead?
@@theurbangentry Thank You BOTH! I am now a gentleman again. LOL.
Ming's pre-orders are Merciless . 👨🦲

100%. For me 1 + 1 = 3, or more here. You can tell they like each other so communication is so smooth… editing helps - but whatever. It’s fantastic.
You read my mind! Two of the coolest, most down to earth YT watch guys. Love these two!
You will
God I love these guys. Every time they collaborate it’s such wholesome content.
Chilling out on Saturday afternoon with two guys with good vibes
Thank you Jeremy, have a great weekend my friend.

So pleased to see your continued effort to collaborate with Marc Frenkel. Love to hear your opinions and preferences. Looking forward to a long lasting series of episodes! Keep up the great work!
I really like these videos between TGV and Mark, look forward to these every month.
A special thank you to both of you! You help me start my watch collection last year. I have seiko, orient, invicta, titan, and so on.
The JLC “no dead time” on the minute repeater, is a mechanism that allows the watch to chime hours and minutes without a gap when the quarter hour chime is not needed, such as 14:09. Great video, more of the duo please!
You know it’s gonna be a good Saturday when your two favorite watch dudes, the dynamic duo, release a new video. Happy Saturday!
🙏🙏🙏 I'm flattered and honored, I am sure Marc is too.
Thank you on behalf of us both. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Best regards,
TGV
Still laughing at Mark’s comment that “everyone wants to hear the comment of a man who is wearing a watch movement on his shirt!” It’s completely true! I would love to hear your review and comparison of the Moonwatch! Fantastic show as always! The hour literally flies by!

Love the selection, but the chemistry between you guys was great for a 1+ hour. Keep me hooked.
I love these collaborations. Two of my favorite watch youtubers together. Must watch video every time. Thanks to both of you for doing these.
Great pics by Marc on the Marathon and Damasko / TGV's choice on the Sub 39 Squale and Breitling. As always, great video guys!

As soon as Marc mentioned Ming I made the connection to Ming Thein whose photography blog I've been following for well over 10 years. Amazing talent with the camera, well worth checking out.
Nicely done gentlemen as always, “pure class” lol. Thank guys, loving the joint effort.
Thank you TGV for the great video! Stay healthy and well! Nick
Would love to see that speedy review
I love my moon watch professional
I got in 2019 and would like to see the upgrades.
Entrance is hilarious! Thank you, because I needed that in my melancholy state lately.
highlight of the month these collab videos with marc! you guys are so funny and down to earth about everything small and large topics
Perfect timing! Can't wait to see this. Thanks guys.
I never leave comment ever on any website and I gotta say, this is one of the best watch clip I have seen on UA-cam. I love so many of the watches you guys brought up especially those lesser covered watches namely Bertucci, Squale, and Marathon that made your list. Great show.
The fact you do such solid editing on these 1hr+ vids is astounding.
Most channels would just upload it unedited
You guys nailed it! Great diverse lineup with a nice personal touch.
So refreshing to kick back and relax to two watch guru's run through their latest top tens. I look forward to next month's chat as much as I'm looking forward to an Islander GMT! Thanks from the Sussex south coast of England 🇬🇧🏴

Happy that you discovered Naoya Hida Co! Their designs are truly simplicity at its most elegant!
Nice list fellas… I love listening to you two discuss watches and watch movements.
The best substitute for a few drinks with friends that I've found this past year. Cheers!

As a new member of the Casio LED mod community, thanks for the shout out 😁 and I'm very curious now myself.
That JLC was amazing. I don't often care for complicated watches but that JLC was mind blowing. Great video as always. ;)

“A Rolex for Hugo.” Best line of the decade. Can you make a fake tiny one for him? Please?
Love these joint podcasts 🙌 love my 13 inexpensive watches and always have room for more...
That “Monster” watch that Marc is wearing and shows in a couple different colour combos is a beauty!!
The Ming Thien watch! I followed him for quite a few years when he did a very good photography blog. I was aware of his passion for watches during that period and also followed his journey creating his own watches. Great guy, always responded to comments and questions on photography.

I just got my Hesalite 3861 speedy last week. Love it. Please do a video on it while you have yours 😉
Those Squale divers are haunting my dreams. Thanks guys for a great video.

Great video as always, I absolutely want to see your thought on the new omega moonwatch.
Bonjour TGV! I was wondering why there has never been (to my knowledge) a chronograph from the 40's or 50's in your collection as there is a large choice and for the moment quite affordable...Thanks for your videos!
The iwc has a crown that unattaches from the movement via a Special clutch. So the movement really is unattached from the case. Now that’s amazing!
Good to hear Damasko mentioned - its insane that you have never reviewed one

Yes. Buy the watch you fall in love with. I too have bought one I never thought I would - until I saw it "across the room" 🙂
I do agree…White Dial divers are awesome. The Islander MONSTER on Marc’s left arm will be arriving here today! I saw it, and had to own it. The white and blue mix is really gorgeous together.
