I am surprised that you are surprised that people sit through one full hour of your videos. They are so entertaining and informative that I wish they were longer. Top class content.
Please dont rush and edit out too much of these videos. I love them! Its so relaxing hearing two friends talk about watches in good spirit and with som jazz in the background. Its like meditation for me
Owned all three, still have the flighty and the SKX009j but sold the Alpinist, hardly ever wore it and never settled on any one strap. Virtually doubled my money after four years of owning it, so the following for it is strong.
I started my small Seiko collection last year with the following: 1. SKX007 2. SARB035 3. SRPF33 "Tubbataha Reef" Totally love your channel and these collab with Marc! ☺
Don’t underestimate hobby nerds and their propensity to watch movie length videos about their specific nerddom! I watch a guy solving a sudoku for 1,5 hours almost daily 😅 (Cracking the Cryptic, if anyone’s interested). So 1,5 hours of two knowledgeable guys talking about their field of expertise is just fantastic!
Can we start a petition to have Seiko do a TGV and Long Island Watch Limited Edition Collaboration? You two have hand in hand kept the Flighty going...created a cult following.
TGV, totally found your videos by accident a few weeks ago. I dug up my Raymond Weil that was dead in a drawer and gave it new life. Thank you for your watch and life pointers..great stuff man, I'm a fan.
TGV I really like this format with yourself and Marc. I'll be honest I've been a fan for years and there's been ups and down and a lot of noise within the UA-cam watch community as I'm sure you're all too aware of, but this is where I think you're at your strongest. Just talking watches and allowing your passion to show through. You're not a technical guy that talks specs and nuances of movements like some but you love what you love and that has to be commended and applauded. Here's to more of this format and just of you being you. Great work
Favourite Seiko: Tuna! Nothing else quite like it. Iconic Seiko. Pet peeve: the Sarb033 clasp on the bracelet, the huge tunnel it has when closed. Best bang for buck watch out there and it’s only true negative.
Favorite Seiko...I bought a 1974 Seiko LM which was the first watch I bought when I was 17 and had just joined the Army....I am passing it on to my Grandson. I also bought a 57 Omega Seamaster, for the year after I was born..to pass down... I love your content and your collaborations with Marc. He sold me a 1963 Zinjuan...I love it and I tried to mod a SKX 007J I bought from him , with his additions to look like his Squale....on the white band....you both are my two favorite content creators and in my old age I have fallen in love with watches again.
Favorite Seiko: SARB035; Pet Peeve: Watches sold for a specific gender. They should simply be classified by case diameter, weight, and so on. Most so-called "women's watches" are boring dress pieces anyway, and if you want something fresh, adventurous, or athletic, you have to look at the men's models.
I recently got a SARB035, but couldn’t get the fit right with the bracelet. There’s a serious lack of micro-adjustments on it! I got a Strapcode “O” bracelet; now it fits perfectly. What a nice watch!
SKX007J1 hands down. I bought my first one in 1979 and was wearing it while I was working on jets in Germany. The bracelet was the cheap two-prong variety and I bumped the watch against a wing pylon and it went sailing through the air for twenty feet and bounced across the tarmac for another 5 feet. The watch didn't miss a beat. I wore it for another 15 years until my ex took it in a divorce. My second one is 20 years old and is finally going to Seiko for a service. I received my third one today so I could wear it while the second one is at Seiko. I always enjoy these videos, please keep them coming. Cheers
Thank you TGV for making me realize that SEIKO is one of horology legends of all time! You " infected " me with " seiko virus " and I thank You for that !
Coming up on 3 years since you filmed this. I'm a new collector and the first watch I bought into was a SNK809 like Mark suggested. They sell for close to 200USD new now!
I've been collecting pocket knives for about a year and am about to buy my first decent watch. Definitely going Seiko. Thank you for all the amazing videos, but these collab videos with you two are great.
Seiko will always be my favorite watch brand. They got me into watches, and they keep me in the hobby. Of all the watches I currently own, probably my SBBN037 blue Tuna is my favorite, but I do have the SNA411 Flighty as well, and my SRP777 Turtle wants a mention since I wear it often enough. Of the watches I don't own, I'm really loving the 2020 Astron models (thinking REALLY hard about pulling the trigger...), and the Grand Seiko SBGX335 quartz. I also really dig things with historical importance (the first Astron, for example) even if I don't otherwise like the aesthetics or wouldn't wear the watch for some reason. As for things I dislike about watches, well, probably just people that are excessively snobby about it. Watch collecting is very much a to-each-their-own kind of hobby, with no objective direction one must take, so it's always vomit inducing to listen to some prick talk about how awesome something they have is, and how something another person owns is garbage just because they don't like it for X reason. That sort of person can be found in literally every hobby, of course.
A perfect video for a rainy Sunday afternoon. My favorites: SARB033 (regret selling it, planning on repurchasing), SARB017, Flighty (putting it up for sale but having second thoughts now), Blumo (sold it, I wish Seiko reissue a smaller case), SKXs (owned and sold 007, 009, 013, but thinking of getting an 013 again, on the lookout for 015), 1960s Lord Marvel low beat arabic numerals no date (gave this to my gf but borrowing it from time to time), 1960s Bellmatic 4006 7012, and 1960s Panda 6138. I love this format with Mark, TGV. Keep it coming!
The seiko 7a28 movement was really a master class in showing what seiko could do. No expense was spared on making that fully serviceable 15 jewel quartz chronograph movement. No wonder it’s commanding high prices nowadays. Worth every penny.
I crept downstairs early in the morning to watch this! Fantastic listening to two passionate people talking watches. Great to see you both together. More videos please!!!
I love the accuracy of the spring drives and the movement fascinates me so much, but I was still on the fence as to weather I wanted one. When I saw Marc's video on how it works, it sent me right over the top and it is now something I will need to buy eventually. Snowflake is my dream watch.
I started being interested in automatic watches one year ago and saw the snk 809 - loved it but couldn't believe there was an automatic for that cheap... bought it and loves it since day one :)
I love the clock on Marc's wall! I too had a casio remote watch, I took it to school obviously, I had no end of fun winding my mum up by changing the channel or turning the volume up or down aswell. Good times.
I needed to upgrade my 10 year old Casio watch so I started researching. Now I’m collecting watches. My wife is wonder what happened, but I’m in to deep to turn back now.
My favourite seiko is the Seiko Sumo Black. Reason being that it epitomizes the versatility of having just one watch for all purposes. With that you can dress up or down. It goes well with formal as well as casual.
Do this more!! I like to see more of this and when you say no one is going to watch I think you are wrong I am sure many will as well. Love your conversations with mark he is a good man with a good heart with great knowledge about watches and when combined you and him, you speak for all real watch enthusiasts who know it well mainly from deep withing without able to explain it fully.
Of alllll the watches, I have a Seiko 5 black dial and changed the bracelet, I love it. I’m also in love with the Seiko limited edition Frozen Margherita! I’m so interested in the Snowflake. Have you seen a G Seiko under a microscope? It’s incredible. It’s quality will amaze you. Pet peeve, the dial is incredible, but damn the bracelet was just forgotten!
I love watching these two talk about watches. Right now watches aren't in the budget, but someday my collection will look like a TGV and Mark inspired list.
Oh, steady on ...so alike, but yet so different. I'm sure you know the can of worms this could starting? I'm not going to say which is better ( as they have distinct flavours), but I do have a preference.
Favorite Seikos would be the four that I own. 1: SNKK71 - My first mechanical watch, bought about a year ago after the Tokyoflash watch I had previously used became inoperable. It was on sale at Amazon right when I was looking at replacements and I couldn't pass up the price even if I was really after something more visually interesting. 2: The Flighty- More visually interesting than the SNKK71. Learned about it from this channel and I'm eternally amused by the slide rule bezel. Thankfully I found a 21mm leather strap for it. Actually wore it earlier today. 3: A blue Cocktail Time- Absolutely wonderful dial. This is one of the three watches I've had a woman comment on, the others being an out there Mr. Jones Watch where the hands are a Kraken's tentacles grabbing sailors and my old Tokyoflash that was also really out there. 4: Grand Seiko SBGH269- This was a grail watch the moment I saw it. Even among GS dials, this one stands out with its bold shade of red. It became a pandemic purchase after some Tesla stock I picked up a few years back as a gamble really paid off. Sold two shares, bought this, have only worn other watches 2 or 3 days since.
Rewatched this for the second time to leave a Like and Comment. Can't wait for this collab to happen again! Cheers to TGV and Marc for the great content!
Love these videos. Watched them all beginning to end believe it or not. Look forward to the next one. Favorite Seikos? 5.Arnie 4.62 MAS reissue 3.Pogue 2.Sarb017 1.My kinetic, black dial, all stainless steel, day/date, 200m diver that I'm sure no one else cares about. It is the first watch I bought with my own money and it's also the perfect one watch collection even though I didn't realize that when I bought it and I nevertheless didn't manage to keep my collection to one.
Awesome! Two of you make a perfect duo. You and Marc’s videos actually are what got me into watches! Still haven’t bought my first one but I think it will be an Orient Triton or a Seiko Turtle. Or an Islander 😂
I have enjoyed many Urban Gentry videos and have bought two really good watches from Marc. Thank you both! My all time favorite Seikos are from the completely unheralded SGE line. These are quartz models with very accurate movements. They have steady and properly registering second hands. Most watches with the SGE prefix have sapphire glass, 100m of water resistance, and screw-down case backs. The dials and case finishes are the equal of more expensive Seikos, but you can usually get most of the SGEs for less than a hundred dollars. They even have respectable bracelets and straps. My favorite watch is the Seiko SGEH49P2. It is like a bigger, bolder version of the SARB 033 for about 1/5 the price. There's also the SGEG93. The SGEG93 has a family resemblance to the SARB 035 but it's still its own man. And the SGEG97P, with its stunning Roman numeral silver dial and red leather strap, is the working man's Breguet. Check out photos of these watches on the Internet, although they look even better in person. Regarding complaints about watches, I don't like sterile dials. I don't like clasps that don't have enough microadjustments. And I don't like day complications, especially where the whole day is spelled out at 12 o'clock.
Hmmm I haven’t fully understand that accutron 2020 yet but based on my knowledge, if spring drive is between quartz and mechanical but more mechanical, that sccutron is towards more quartz, but I haven’t get how that really works but somehow I got confused with a kinetic movement....
I started to indulge my interest in watches 6 months ago, and my biggest problem is I cannot get away from Seiko. Whenever I look for a new watch, I am always led back to Seiko. My first chrono is on the order now. It was between the Guiardo and flighty. I went with the Guiardo, SCED055. Really just because it's so different from others I have, and a nice minalist look, and perhaps a good summer choice. I'm still really into the FLTY , but didn't want to complete with my SKX that I am still in love with. Thanks for you input guys, you are my go to watch experts. We have similar tastes.
Another great video! Love your chats with Marc. My favorite Seiko of all time happens to be my first Seiko. Having only recently gotten into the hobby myself, I was excited to learn of my fathers passion for watch collecting over the years. Last Christmas he was generous enough to give me his SARB017 he had purchased 15 years earlier. It will always remain one of my most cherished possessions and will always take center stage in my watch box. Thanks again TGV
Good to know the gurus liked the Casio IR Remote (1995). Mine worked with 50% of tv sets around, even VCRs. Had so much fun at restaurants with it. Now I need to find it! I used to love such functional watches. I also had one with video games (1996) and one with a gas lighter (2000- I grew up).
Here I was vehemently concurring with all of these picks (especially the ones I own: SNK809, SARB033 and SKX013) only to realize subsequently that my taste and purchase choices have been influenced by these two guys more than anybody else. Love your videos and this wonderful hobby you two have introduced into my life. Cheers!
I just "stumbled" upon you and Marc in the last couple of weeks. I love these videos and Marc's "Watch and Learn", and actually bought my first Islander from Marc's store (ISL-27 ... yes, it's a blue face) and LOVE it! Keep up the great work.
Great job guys. Listen to it in my car! You guys should start up a podcast series. Your genuine love for watches and humble honest reviews make it a pleasure to watch and listen to. Keep up the great work.
I really enjoyed you two talking Seikos. You guys have what I call the 'Josh and Chuck factor' ie you two have great personal dynamics. Ive just bought a Seiko solar chronograph today , it has a kind of a Speedmaster look. My father was a watchmaker who belonged to the Horological guild, his personal watch was a beautiful 1960s Rolex Perpetual , naturally I have a love of watches. thanks Phil (Australia)
I've always wanted a luxury watch but couldn't justify the price. That's why I turned to gussl, and I'm so glad I did. Their replica watches look and feel just like the real thing, but at a fraction of the cost.
There is nothing more relaxing than good old TGV and Marc discussing watches. All I need is a good mug of tea or a Martini and I'm all set for the evening.
A treasure trove of information!! A newbie to the hobby of watch collecting and I couldn’t have picked a more entertaining & informative channel. Keep up the great work!
Finally got through the video but it was well worth it! I'm so excited for the pet peeves video and please do more of these going forward! They're long but so worth it.
Please don’t stop this series. I can watch this even if its 3 hours lol
I am watching and can't stop and it's 3am. I won't be able to work or function tomorrow but can't stop lol
Absolutely
Indeed it is a great series!
Please srop this series. This is complete idiocy. Not even a shame.
I love how you guys discuss with each other. No interruptions, classy exchange of views without any signs of "dominating" from either side. It was a joy to watch.
It's called editing.
Editing a bit, but you sense the mutual warmth and respect which is a pleasure.
Aside from Hugo of course.
Good to see Mark and TGV together again discussing what brought many of us to the dance: Seiko.
Thank you Kenneth, we are hoping to make this a monthly series you will be glad to know.
I hope you are well my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry That’s amazing! The two of you are a perfect duo!
Yea the should make a watch together!!
Always fun to watcing them talking about watches. Just two enthusiastic guys talking about watches that's not all about Rolexes. 👍🏼
@@cngan2349
Yes, quite refreshing.
Look, I felt the same way that loads of people felt: This is way too long.
Oh, I was wrong. This is an absolute homerun! Two watch guys talking about watches, not as UA-camrs, but as two buddies would in any coffee shop over a nice cuppa!
Congratulations guys!
I love the TGV/Marc collabs but let's never forget Hugo.
Haven’t seen Hugo for a while. I thought TGV had made some nice lizard straps out of him.
@@petercraw8188 Lmao, Heavens forbid. That would be like Sherlock Holmes killing Moriarity. TGV and Hugo need each other. lol.
@@petercraw8188 ok THAT is funny.
I watched the whole hour, it's like visiting two old friends. I'm a loyal customer of Marc thanks to TGV. Great talk, thanks guys!
Me: An hour? I'm not going to watch this. But dinner isn't ready
40 minutes in: Dinner? You can wait
I am surprised that you are surprised that people sit through one full hour of your videos. They are so entertaining and informative that I wish they were longer. Top class content.
When he mentioned the SNK809, I almost cried with happiness
I almost cried with sadness.
Please dont rush and edit out too much of these videos. I love them! Its so relaxing hearing two friends talk about watches in good spirit and with som jazz in the background. Its like meditation for me
3. Flighty
2. SARB017
1. SKX007/009j
Flighty on my wrist, 007J on my desk, sarb...no.
💋❤️😊💪 Skx007 with me to eternity.

Perfect way to end the weekend with an hour long video from my favorite duo on youtube!
Theses 2 guys really work well together. They give the other time to talk while listening , love it
This is really fun, basically a podcast at this length.
MAKE IT A PODDO!
Do I hear weekly podcast coming soon?
Don’t underestimate hobby nerds and their propensity to watch movie length videos about their specific nerddom! Had literally just typed in 'Seiko Urban Gentry' in the YT search bar as a notification for this video pops up! Crazy how the universe works.
Favourite Seiko: Tuna! Nothing else quite like it. Iconic Seiko.
Pet peeve: the Sarb033 clasp on the bracelet, the huge tunnel it has when closed. Best bang for buck watch out there and it’s only true negative.

This video literally felt like it was only 15 or 20 minutes long I loved it!
Great dive into one of my favorite brand. This collaboration is so laid back and fun. Perfect for the weekend, thank you.

You guys got me into this passion ❤️/feeling good in viewing watch talk show... Hope this continues as longer series...
Amazing Duo. History and engineering. And Marc’s love of divers is what drove me to his brand.
Seiko in the 80s and 90s was so damn cool.

I am also very happy to see the two of you back together again. It is one of my favorite watch shows to view. Thank you both.
Glad to see another fine episode.
Rewatched this for the second time to leave a Like and Comment. Can't wait for this collab to happen again! Cheers to TGV and Marc for the great content!
Crossed wires on what "domestic" means for Seiko, domestic=Japan only. It seems like Mark was thinking domestic=USA. (around 45:50 or so)
He was talking from a Seiko USA perspective.
I love the fact that you two are doing this series. You are both my favorite watch channels.
And once agin i waited all along for TGV introduce the “FLIGHTY”.. ❤️
On my wrist right now. Why? I have better watches. I don't know.
Love these videos. Watched them all beginning to end believe it or not. Look forward to the next one. Favorite Seikos?

1.My kinetic, black dial, all stainless steel, day/date, 200m diver that I'm sure no one else cares about.
Bulova has come out with their competition to the Spring Drive.
I would have said "That "was" the magic of Seiko" instead.
A always watch whole episode !!)
I am a simple man, I see Hugo and I click like. 🤣
ditto
Hello my friend :D
Thank you for the smile as always!
Best regards,
TGV
Here I was vehemently concurring with all of these picks (especially the ones I own: SNK809, SARB033 and SKX013) only to realize subsequently that my taste and purchase choices have been influenced by these two guys more than anybody else. Love your videos and this wonderful hobby you two have introduced into my life. Cheers!
Lol your collection very similar to my own snk 809
Skx007
Dreaming of sarx055
I love all of my (Seiko) watches. My only pet peeve is that I don't have the wallet to buy more watches.
Been wearing a black SNK 809 as NYC Sanitation worker for years. Takes a beating and still keeps ticking. Perfect work watch.
I am a huge fan of Hugo.... I guess that TGV guy is OK too.
Fabulous video! Love the topic. My faves: SARB017, SKX007, SBBN031, SZSC003, SNA411J1.
Next time make whole discussion with Hugo ))
I just "stumbled" upon you and Marc in the last couple of weeks. I love these videos and Marc's "Watch and Learn", and actually bought my first Islander from Marc's store (ISL-27 ... yes, it's a blue face) and LOVE it! Keep up the great work.
Alpinist . Hate people who collect just one brand just different colours of it 😡
Great job guys.
Thanks to both of you for making these collaborative videos. They really are a lot of fun to watch...
There is nothing more relaxing than good old TGV and Marc discussing watches. All I need is a good mug of tea or a Martini and I'm all set for the evening.
34:49 Are you kidding me? I watched every second of that video, and that was intro video! You guys are my new addiction. Thank you
You guys should just make this a weekly gig. I could listen to you two about watches all day. Love it!
I love it when Mark is on. As an engineer too I get a lot out of his approach to the business/hobby.
Mark is a much suitable collaborator for TGV than Watchbox was. Down to earth conversation about watches we love that we can relate to
Rainy day, baby napping, coffee and you two. Bloody good, bloody good.
For my favorite seiko, I am leaning towards the Sumo. Honorable mention to the turtle!!
Love the conversation between you two. These are great videos.
I learned about LIW from TGV and have bought a few from Marc since. Glad to see this back & forth growing and evolving.
