Dave Lee Down Under you do know that the UK version of the first Avengers film is edited and cut. I own the UK version as well as the uncut US version and the 3D UK version. If you Google it you will see what scenes were changed.
2namtaB I do vaguely remember hearing about this a while ago. It’ll be interesting to see if they just port the US version onto the 4K, as it would be easier to master one version instead of 2.
If it is the cut version, even more reason for me to grab it!
Dave Lee Down Under I've just read an old article about the original UK release, they also missed off the Directors commentary as it arrived late in the authoring process.
It will be interesting to see if they have rectified all these original problems.

2namtaB oh man! I remember that too! The Australian release was effected too, because it’s authored with the same files as the UK sets. I’ve never actually noticed if the Aus version is the ‘edited’ one... but likely not, given it’s got “Avengers” at the beginning not “Avengers Assembled”

I'm considering getting The Avengers trilogy pack on Blu Ray.
This is ridiculous!! They've been pushing for the audience to go 4K by eliminating the 3D-Blu-ray, yet they don't want to release the IMAX aspect ratio, not even in the 4K blu-ray! #moviepirates

IMAX version will likely be on the 3D disc, as per usual. But still unconfirmed. If it's anywhere, it'll be there -- it won't be specifically marketed as an "IMAX version", however.
I live in the USA and usually get mine imported from India. It comes in a combo pack that has 4k+3D+2d discs. They are region free and there is no foreign language text on the covers
I’ve considered those in the past, but it would cost just as much to import to me as buying 2 individual versions.

Don't count to strongly on Disney. I heard star wars last Jedi Blu Ray and 4k HDR Blu Ray looked the same!!! No real difference 🤔.
Difference is, Last Jedi was an upscale, while Infinity War is a true 4K source.
Remains to be seen how the first 2 movies will look though.

i went for the sanity pre-order exclusive, love the poster art for it (the poster has been revealed on their facebook page) :) wish i could somehow get the target exclusive since Australia seems to never have any of the target digibooks or exclusives besides the DC ones.
Saw the poster artwork, looks great! Just beware, the poster is likely going to be very small -- it wont' be the size of a regular movie poster.
i got a few pre-order exclusive posters from them before, the sizes are pretty decent, they are about the same size as a regular 60x90cm poster, sometimes a tad bit smaller.

The digital copy usually arrives the same day as the physical edition. Sadly Disney shaft the customers making them have to buy the digital copy (but hey you at least get extras)

Get the 4K! It won't be much more expensive and you can have the Blu-ray for now and the 4K disc for future-proofing! So you won't have to buy it again!

For me I went with the Target's 4K+ Blu-ray cover. The cover on it looks pretty cool, it's different than the others, and somehow (idk why) it reminds me of how Star Wars did their dvd covers.

It's funny, I initially hated the UK "Avengers Assemble" title change but I love it now! It's a great title for the movie that fully makes sense and doesn't seem like it was just slapped on anymore. Maybe Avengers 4 will be: Avengers Disassemble?

If so, what would be the difference between the two physically? I guess Target would have the art book, and JB would have the Steel book. If I’m missing something or I’m wrong, please correct me xd
Hey there, no Target exclusive for Australia -- we sadly never get those.
The discs across all editions will be the same, only thing that changes is packaging / artwork / physical supplements.

Yes, as I said, all the versions have all the features as they’re the same disc. Only version that has no features is the dvd.
Well I guess I’m screwed if I want a exclusive Blu Ray I’ve become accustomed to. I’ll just have to get a regular copy and not stress about it like I’ve done in the past. I wonder if it will increase the availability of the exclusives

Very informative video Dave! Just one question. Any idea what’s happening with the aspect ratio for Infinity War. I take it the standard blu ray will have the normal aspect ratio, but I’m not sure whether the 3D and/or 4K will have the IMAX aspect ratio. Would you by any chance know what’s happening with the aspect ratios on physical release or do you have any predictions for what it will be.
Thanks mate! The clips I’ve used in the video have been taken directly from “Blu-ray clips” Disney released today, and they all show the cropped aspect. My guess is it will be business as usual - cropped aspect for BD and 4K and IMAX for 3D. No confirmation on the IMAX for 3D just yet, but they’d be mad not to.
Dave Lee Down Under It's fucking bullshit because the cropped aspect ratio that was showed in the regular theaters is NOT the intended aspect ratio of the film. Because the film itself was all shot in IMAX cameras. Cropping it ruined the film itself and I bet this will be the case where there will be angry letters out there for us Americans to see the film the way it was meant to be seen.

I've only seen this movie once! Definitely my favourite comic book movie (under the dark knight trilogy and spider-man 2)!

I liked Infinity War more than The Dark Knight Rises but I personally think Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2 are just a tad bit better. However I respect your opinion and I really loved Infinity War!

Thanks for the video. Again sad no 3D version for the US. I already pre-ordered a steel book, all region Blu-ray 3D version. My all region Blu-ray 3D Black Panther was amazing so I am pretty sure the 3D in Avengers will not disappoint. 3D is the definitive way to watch this film. At least the rest of the world gets it.

Just Blu-ray. There are no, and will be no 3D 4K discs.
Ok so unless I missed something there's not one edition of the movie that comes with both a Blu-ray and DVD copy, mostly just Blu-ray with digital or just DVD by itself. Looks like I might just buy the special Walmart exclusive Blu-ray as well as a DVD copy, that way I'll have two different options in the event I only have one device I won't be stuck with a version of it I can't use. Never been one for the digital version of films so this works out perfectly, cost more having two copies of the same movie, but worth it given what film it is.
Correct. Only way to get the DVD is to buy the DVD separately, so that'll definitely be your best bet.

Dave Lee Down Under The only information we have concerning the aspect ratio for the 3D version is Amazon’s listing for it. It shows a picture of the back of the box which says the 3D Blu-Ray presents the movie in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. This may not mean much though considering Black Panther’s 3D Blu-Ray said the same thing, but I believe still included the IMAX sequences. Still, it’s odd for it to show that in this case if the whole movie will not be in that ratio. Guess we’ll have to wait for more info.
Amazon is always unreliable for such things. Though, being on actual artwork is odd.
BP likely showed that as it had a shifting aspect. This could also be temp art without finalized specs -- which is very common.
Waste of apportunity. They filmed the whole movie with imax and for home release they are cropping everthing to 2.39:1 and that is very dumb.

Still worth getting the 4K player, the no HDR just means you won’t be able to take advantage of the larger color spectrum

I totally agree with the lack of making of documenteries. Something the recent Marvel Blu Ray's lack. With Infinity War I would loved to see a release on par with The Lord Of The Rings Extended Editions with hours of bonus features and an extended cut of the film. Here's still hoping Disney does do such a release. But I feel it will be unlikely :(

I think Marvel will eventually put together some comprehensive doco, but probably won't be for a while. Disney don't really put too much effort into their own special features these days, so I imagine they likewise won't fund Marvel too much to do their own either.

Phase 3 doesn't conclude until Avengers 4, so I imagine we'll hear something about it close to Avengers 4 home media release. Probably this time next year!

Thanks mate! Usually it starts with the Disney press releases, which announce US release date. Once they've gone out to press and media, websites are allowed to release artwork and international release dates -- I usually turn to either Amazon UK or Zavvi for UK release

I've used that site before, they're legit (bought all the US TWS slipcovers and Loki TDW slip from them). Been around for years and others have used it as well. I haven't decided myself if I'm gonna get the Target Exclusive but if I do it'll be through them, it'll probably go for crazy prices on ebay.

It's annoying that the UK and US covers are basically the same because I want to get the regular 4K version from the US but don't want the 3D to have the same cover art because that's boring. Our local version does have a different cover which is nice, but I hate our huge ratings logos which is why I normally avoid our releases for movie series I really love. Then I thought about getting the Target Exclusive from the US for the 4K and the 3D from the UK, but then the Target version will cost double the regular release, and I'd have to wait until mid-September to receive the 3D version (which is the one I want to watch due to the IMAX ratio likely being on it).
So I'm pretty torn right now, I'll see how it goes and in order to keep it cheaper and also get my copy as early as possible, I might buy the 4K from the US and the 3D locally. I do have the Zavvi steelbook on pre-order that I guess I could get, but it's just so ugly. Maybe in-hand pictures will make it look better, I'll wait until we get some of those before cancelling my pre-order with them.
That's a good point. I always like different cover art too -- so I do wish there was a variety. Or atleast the UK 4K and 3D sets had different art.
3D steelbook from Zavvi is a must. I'm not sure what to do with the 4K however... While I think the UK defiantly wins with the cover art and slip, its a bit of a wait from the Aussie release. If my patience dies out, I may have to try source the slip online which due to eBay global shipping program and greedy collectors, can become very expensive for a piece of cardboard..
There's always the option of renting the movie on digital to tie you over if you import. Not sure how much that costs, but surely not more than $10 or something??
That way you can watch it while you wait for the physical and save yourself importing a slip only, which, yes, would be bloody expensive.
No way I'd bother with digital. I'm just gonna grab the boring vanilla 4K release from Aus and slap the 4K disc in the 3D steelbook and sell the 2d as fast as possible. I'm sure someone will buy it on Facebook marketplace :)

Damn, would've been nice to get a 4k Civil War movie too... since it's basically an Avengers movie.
D L., so you're telling me it had nothing to do with the entirety of the Avengers when they stopped Crossbones as a team and were asked to retire or sign the accords to operate as an Avenger and finally have the team split in favor of Tony or Steve? Did you watch it while asleep?

Tony- loss of his parents/innocent
Bucky- framed for crimes
Wanda- seeking freedom
Tchalla- seeking revenge
Zemo- seeking revenge as well
Seems as though you've got an entire cast with heavy story revolving around them in Civil War... not just Steve.
D L. You can tell me Captain America: The First Avenger is Steve focused... but you CAN NOT say that there aren't huge amounts of time that goes into Tony as well as Bucky and Tchalla, who are all Avengers.
It's an Avengers movie... that is all.
D L., and if you strongly believe that the story is mostly focused around Steve, then we need to also agree that Age of Ultron was actually Ironman 4, because that movie was ALL about Tony's vision.
