I just hope that the standard 1080p Blu Rays that come with the US versions are just reprints of their initial blu ray releases from 2010. Same menu, same interfacem same everything. Mainly because those releases were damn near perfect so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Turns out you were right. The standard blu rays that came with the 4K bundles, are just literal reprints of their original 2010 counterparts, which makes me happy.
I’m just curious how the first two will hold up. I mean they still look good on their regular Blu-rays 20 years later but how are they gonna look good on a brand new format? I hope they’ll do it just right with new presentations but I’m not expecting like a Matrix 4K or a 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K release. On a side note when I compare Incredibles with Incredibles 2 I can see how much animation has changed within 15 years especially how Incredibles 2 picks up where the first film left off. Overall I’m gonna be picking up the new 4K Editions but oh how those SteelBooks from Best Buy look simple yet amazing! But at the same time I don’t want to be spending $50+ dollars for all three at once since they cost more than the standard editions. It’s like how the first five Mission: Impossible films came out individually for like $20 each then got a 6 film 4K set once Fallout had it’s release. I’m happy that I bought the MI set later on than the individual releases. Also in October we’re getting a 4K release of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and I was hoping you would do a video on that soon.
icecream hero sure, but these Japanese 4K rereleases have far better front covers, than those annoying close-up covers that used to plague retailers until lately!
Dave, although I hate Disney & Fox poverty offerings in Australia there is a huge upside, look at the pricing, it's cheaper in AU even before the currency conversion and GST. So you could buy both the 4K and 1080p for similar money, and a bonus is the 3D also comes with the 1080p version.
This is true, but it's always been the case. The local editions are always marginally cheaper options than importing. What bugs me the most is that the prices on these haven't fluctuated. They're still marketing at $30 RRP which is the same RRP as when the sets were fully loaded with extra discs and digital codes. If you're going to strip the releases back to a single disc, at least have the decency to lower the price down to $20 RRP to reflect the fact that you're getting less for your money. Same deal as when they used to charge $40 for the steelbooks with a single disc, when you could get the 3D for $35. At least now they add the 4K disc to the steelbook.
So disappointing Australia only gets a bare-bones 4K release. The only way I would be tempted to buy these is if the price is low enough due to the lack of content provided, but knowing Disney, this probably won't be happening.
Would LOVE a box set of the 4K UHD discs like the UK did with the Captain America films in 4K. Its much cheaper this way instead of spending $100 on all three single discs from US.
FYI: (Confirmed in the U.S.) If you are a MoviesAnywhere user, take care when redeeming the included 4K digital copy. Currently, if the copy is redeemed via iTunes, the digital copy will propagate to your linked accounts using the iTunes restricted HD version. This happened to me when redeeming the 4K Toy Story 3 digital copy via iTunes. However, when I redeemed Toy Story 1 and 2 vía MoviesAnywhere, the 4K versions did get posted correctly to MoviesAnywhere and to Vudu. (iTunes of course is HD only at this time). Disney customer support acknowledged. MoviesAnywhere support is also aware.
Reminds me of what they did for the three DVD set for the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy. Like I'd LOVE to have all three on DVD at some point, but the minimalistic cover art annoys me. I already have all three on digital as it's just easier for me to turn on the app I have the digital on and watch.
I'm planning to read a couple of books adapted from the first two "Toy Story" movies and watch a UA-cam video containing a read-along storybook from the third "Toy Story" movie followed by a "Toy Story" short film called "Hawaiian Vacation" a week before "Toy Story 4" comes out, so I'm not going to get the first three "Toy Story" movies on 4K nor Blu-ray!
I think the reason CGI doesn't look much better apart from the colour and sound improvements from HDR is because computer graphics will only be in 2k because of how long it takes to render any CGI
the toy story movies are definately a Must BUY, Next to the Many other disney movies that are on bluray tim allen and tom hanks in these toy story movies are terrific so you can tell my joy for wanting to hear these two actors in these films i am surprised that disney hasn't announced yet plans for a re-release of the aladdin animated movies on the signiture collection blurays with digital included, to support their live action aladdin coming
I don’t know the Pixar movies on blu ray look good but I don’t know about a 4k upgrade I will see what the reviews are like I own a 4k tv and they look good for a blu ray
Love the toy story trilogy! However I'm not in a rush to upgrade them! Anyway can't wait to go to JB Hi Fi for Buy 1 Get 1 Free tomorrow! Been dying to pick up Into the Spider-Verse!!
Honestly, if you're after Spider-Verse, they're much cheaper on Amazon. Amazon is also doing the Buy 1 Get 1 Free, however are selling Spider-Verse for $30 on 4k, $30 on 3D and $25 on Blu-ray. JB on the other hand has $37 for the 4K, $37 for the 3D and $27 for the Blu-ray. Depends what version you're after though of course. I bought both the 3D and 4K on Amazon - so $30 for both. Saved myself a further $7
Did You Know? Pixar Is Rereleasing their films yet again but with the kind of artwork the toy story trilogy uses, and probably being 4K + Bluray (Or Just Bluray + DVD) sets with the same Bonus Features. Sometimes, when I get a newly released bluray like Cars, (2017 Disney Movie Club release) where it has previews of films that were already released, and somehow, I think it's coming this year, again... And For The Cars DVD, every Rereleasing of the DVD includes updated previews, but they use the 2006 DVD menu port, which makes it confusing, because, well, THX certified DVD. But if you look on the back of the DVD cover, Woop! No THX certification. So Why Does Disney Just Do a Re Do with their menus and just make them cool?
Also heard shark tale is getting a blu Ray release for the first time in June for America and other country's say what you will about shark tale but it will be good in my blu Ray collection
Your best chance for a boxset will be in the UK, and that’s only if the 4Ks make it over there. Disney US don’t do boxsets any more and haven’t for many years.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder cool thanks for the info Dave. If only I had a 4kTV to justify it thought that didn't stop my buying the little mermaid and Lion king in 4k to put in that UK classic set I have such a problem lol so much money spent for the same thing ohh vey

And what I mean is that the movies could have been rendered in 2K because it was the best quality at the time and then they’ll put it on film for theaters and then when it comes on video they’ll use the original file for higher quality oh and for 2 back then there was the new digital cinemas so it debuted at one
Dave Lee Down Under well that sucks I think it would’ve been perfect cause (it’s not about quality but) back then they would re render the animation to fit the full screen TV, but I think Pixar should do it for Monster Inc because sully’s fur in 4K would be incredible No pun intended

I'll be getting the slipped versions from the US, but also wondering if I should wait on a possible UK boxset. Yes - I've been told to expect an announcement and press release for Cinderella's Signature Edition soon. I predict it will be any time in the next week or so.
Disney DVDs in Australia(2017-Onwards) are a disappointing waste of $20! Because for some bullshit reason, they thought it was a good idea to remove the special features. What?! But those were my childhood, why ruin my childhood like that Disney?!
